I went with a long time friend who now lives in the area, though we both come from Nevada where AYCE (all you can eat) is the norm. He had no complaints, but I think he was just desperate for a sushi fix as his girlfriend doesn't care for it. For me, nothing was spectacular taste wise. And the fish was warm *scallops should be warm, I know that ;) We split three rolls: ($10) Hisui special roll (spicy tuna, real crab, cream cheese topped with avocado, tuna, salmon, yellowtail and masago). ($8.50) Fantasy (crab, avocado topped with lightly seared scallops, jalapenos and masago) ($8.50) Tataki Attack (deep fried shrimp, crab, spicy tuna topped with avocado, seared tuna and masago) Of the three, the Tataki was my favorite. I wanted to try a roll with real crab (Hisui special), as I have never had that, but I was thinking it would be just crab... this was shredded so fine and also mixed with the spicy mayo, it seemed really fishy and I didn't care for it. I prefer fake crab if your gonna lose the essence of it by drowning it in a mayo. Also on that note, I don't like crab/mayo in place of crab on sushi menu's, just give me the stick and not the mixture. The scallop one was also good, but I'm not as big on jalapeno's, so I took mine off. The Hisui also seemed really mushy, like the rice was overcooked. The good parts, bumping this up to a 4 star experience is the service. I really liked our server, she checked on us and had a nice attitude, and it was genuine feeling, like she just seemed normal and didn't give us that fake server voice (We all know what that is). Especially because my friend and I ended up chatting for a long time before we actually ordered, so more work for her coming to check on us. The miso soup and complimentary edamame were delicious with lots of flavor. They changed the tv station for us as well. The menu is a bit confusing on prices, what does the 50% off mean? But in the end, we both felt the value was awesome, 2 beers, 2 soups a salad and 3 rolls was around $43!! That's basically 2 AYCE in Reno and we both ate as much as we could with still leaving a couple pieces on the plates. So while I wasn't blown away by the sushi rolls, if I lived in the area, as my friend does, I would come back and try some more things, or request a custom roll. I am a big fan of lemon and cilantro on rolls, which I didn't see on any of them, so that might also be a reason I didn't feel swooned. As I have sushi in more non AYCE areas (bay area, Oregon coast), I don't really see where the attitude comes from in some of my local reviews. AYCE is not any different than what I've gotten elsewhere as far as rolls go. I imagine the difference is in nigiri, but hard to justify ordering that at a non AYCE place when its $5-$8 an order. And its not buffet or boat style, its all made to order just like here. If I could put no stars I would it was absolutely terrible Ken the "Manager" was super rude I asked to change my order before it came out the guy said no it's made at which point I said okay. Then I was the last to get my food when it was already made 5 minutes prior. I found a hair in my food and when I brought it to his attention he accused me of lying about the hair cause I didn't want to food. I wasn't even 3 bites in. It's pretty awesome that the special rolls are always half off :) they put the original prices even though the deal is all day, everyday haha. While I wouldn't say this is the absolute best sushi I've ever eaten, the quality is good for what you're paying for if you go with the special roll deals. The fish doesnt have that it-sat-around-for-forever taste, but if I'm ever in vacaville and want sushi, I think this would be the place I go to. We went during dinner and it was pretty busy. I like some of the rolls off of the regular menu and do come back for them. So why the rating? 1. Their sushi buffet sucks. The quality of their buffet rolls are bad. Filled with massive amount of rice. An "Alamo" roll is unrecognizable when ordered with the buffet option. 2. Their fatty tuna nigiri was not fresh. If you get her as a server, make sure you tip well because she truly deserves it! The ambience is calm and never too crowded. I'm typically very picky about rolls but this place was a crowd pleaser! So let me just get this off my chest. I really hate bad reviews for places. But lately, my recent dining reviews have been on the bad side. Today, was one of them. But, it didn't start like that. After watching Power Rangers on super comfy recliners, My boyfriend and I were hungry and wanted sushi. Like any other "yelper," I went on the app to find sushi places nearby. Since we've been to Hisui 2, we decided to go and drive a few minutes, rather than go to Umi Sushi which was just right there. Damn damn damn. We should have just went to Umi and try their sushi. The experience today was just bad. Our server was the older man, I'm assuming he was the manager/bartender/server/day ruiner. Le sigh. So, he asked us what drinks we wanted. Water was cool with us, because we just want to eat sushi. It was a warm day in Vacaville, so water is totes okay. He dropped off our waters. He walked by our table quite a few times, and was getting impatient because he still hasn't taken our order (and yes, our menus were down and we were waiting for someone to get the hint). He finally came and took our order (Citrus Roll, Hisui Special Roll, and Godzilla. Time passes by. More time passes by. 30 minutes pass by. A total of 45 minutes passed by. (I know this because my boyfriend checked in after we ordered) Sad thing was that people that got seated after had their rolls. So, I went up to the host stand, and inquired about our order. She was really sweet and went behind the sushi bar to look for our ticket. She looked confused and went to our server. The server said something to her. She went to the older lady sushi chef. The this homegirl started to move fast. Like real fast. Like oh fuck I have to make this ticket still because it's been a really long ticket time fast. After not even talking to us, he somehow felt the need to let us know his chef is working on it. To summarize: - Sushi was aight. - No sense of urgency. - Not a packed house. - Sushi chefs were chill and not stressed. - Take next to us just dipped and left. - They ruined a good day. - Bad service. - They still got a tip. - Still waiting for a dining experience where I can write something positive and good. Service is slow and substandard! The food we ordered sat on top the shelf for 15 minutes. We saw several servers pick them up and look at it, but then sat it back down. We had to ask them to please stop looking and bring it to us. Their restrooms are deathly smelly and dirty. Great sushi, not so great customer experience. We decided to try this place out as it was close by and had a sushi craving. We went to the restaurant to order to-go (COVID). After placing our order we waited about 35 minutes for the sushi, which we weren't complaining about however we witnessed multiple men who's clothing made it seem they were sushi chefs or otherwise cooks talking with the host person. While that was going on we witnessed a single waitress struggling around the floor seeming desperate to fill orders. After she asked the 3 people at the host station for help and one of the cook/chefs about orders that were in but not filled he said he would "get to it soon" and basically waved it off. Doesn't appear that the customer is first in mind here, we will probably try somewhere else next time. read more

I really didn't want to post this and waited to give the place a chance to take action. But it's been long enough. This used to be our favorite dinner spot. Last time we went, December 10th, would definitely be my last.. I reluctantly agreed to go with my boyfriend (hoping they had taken care of the sewer smell that had been getting worse for the past several years. It originated in the bathroom and progressively got worse eventually filling the whole restaurant with the nauseating smell of feces). As we walked in after not having visited for a while, it was clear that the odor was worse than ever. It was 44 degrees outside that evening and the front door was propped open. As I went to close it, the hostess ran to open it back up and said "we're keeping the door open for the smell." I did not want to stay after that but we were super hungry. As I used the bathroom I saw they had scotch taped their soap dispenser to the wall... Wow. This place has not seen even one single update since I moved to Vacaville in 2015. You will also see handwritten signs on printer paper scotch taped to the front counter which I always felt was glaringly tacky. The sad part is that this place was consistently packed for so many years. So there's no way the owner can't afford to invest some money back into the place to keep the restaurant sanitary and looking decent. In a nut shell... -SLOW slow service. Maybe it was just during "all you can eat" time, but we only ordered twice and it took 45m. Baby started fussing and it took our server 15m and asked twice to bring our check.. - The whole place needs a good cleaning! Tatami mats are NASTY dirty! The walls of the booths are really gross as well. It's not hard to spray and wipe the walls down. Chair frames have dried food and greasy film all over. -THERE IS NO DIAPER CHANGING STATIONChanging the baby in the back seat of the car seemed like the worst idea ever, we walked into a different local restaurant and used their changing station. We left the staff with a nice $ tip for letting us use it. We won't be back to either Hisui locations. We should have just stuck to the wait at Fuji! read more

The host sat someone in the booth behind us, and asked us "has your server not been by yet?" And we told her no. Another 5 min go by and still NO ONE! I ordered beef teriyaki with a California roll. When the California roll is the best thing out of your entire meal...including the sushi...something is wrong. EVERY time I order sushi to go it is never deveined idc if cooking it kills the bacteria it's just aesthetically UGLY and I do not want to think about it while I'm eating my food. Best makeshift Birthday for my BFF and Pre-Anniversary dinner ever! MoMo roll after my cucumber modification turned into a Whoa-Whoa and it was delish! Raider roll was all I needed to get me right. Great atmosphere and awesome staff! Awesome customer gifted us a 1/2 bottle of White Peach Sake. After tasting it we had to take our own bottle home. Looks like it's a "Do it yourself" kind of day here at Hisui 2. I rarely leave bad reviews but WOW!! Literally the worst service I've ever experienced at a restaurant. The food that actually did make it to the table was on point though, so I'll give it 2 stars instead of ZERO. After asking about the status of a dish four times, the server finally says (clearly stoned), "Oh, it looks like we're not actually serving that today. Would you like me to void it from your bill?"... To which I reply, "No... I would actually prefer to pay for something that's not even on the menu, thanks!". Unbelievable. read more
