They close at 9:30pm on Saturday's. My family showed up at 9:10pm, but they told us they're only taking to go orders. If a restaurant closes at 9:30 then the kitchen closes at 9:30. It's Saturday night. You should never turn customers away during business hours. Secondly and actually most importantly I've lived in this town for 30 years. I've loved Hisui 2 since they opened, but have tolerated their slow service. You practically have to beg for side plates, refills, and your check so you can get your kids home in time for bed. Lastly, the restrooms are disgusting. When they first opened they didn't even have doors. They just had two open toilets. They smell like bad sewer lines and over compensate with a lot of air fresheners. Often they're out of toilet seat covers, toilet paper, soap, and paper towels. We won't return to this restaurant. We've come here quite a few times and this last go round was a busy Friday night. Sushi bar was open for seating, but we wanted a table (for 2). Was told the wait would be about 20 min. Within 10, we were seated. No AYCE at this HISUI...but this place is alright for sushi. It's definitely not my favorite sushi spot and they are ok with service. The servers are friendly and try really hard to give you a good experience. I feel the sushi is generous in portion, and fish quality is ok to good. Delicious rolls! Best we have had in a long time! Sadly their restaurant is short staffed so the wait was pretty long, but totally worth it! Hopefully they get some good help soon! They are a very busy restaurant that's for sure!! I REALLY enjoyed my food! So happy we came here for our quick little date night just hubby and me! We always get Lion King and tonight we tried 3 others rolls that sounded pretty awesome from the menu! Didn't feel like the images I was seeing on Yelp were giving me what I really enjoy which is the baked and fried rolls! I haven't been to Hisui 2 since before the pandemic really hit, and today is the first time my family and I have been back since. We were looking forward to it since in the past we've had great experiences there... which brings us to today. Upon walking in, we were greeted with a really pervasive sewer-type smell, which I assumed at the time was them cleaning out the pond off to the side, but is apparently the grease trap.(?!) We elected to ignore this, and waited to be seated by a hostess who was fiddling with her phone when we entered (and continued to do so after we were seated.) After we were seated.... nothing. Very literally. Not one of the 3 people working the front of house greeted us to even say, "Welcome to Hisui 2" or even ask us if we wanted anything to drink. We waited 15 minutes for someone to come over to greet us, take our order, anything at all, and any attempts to catch the attention of a waiter/ess working today went ignored. Mind you, the restaurant was not busy, there was only 3 other tables seated at the time, and the front staff seemed more interested in huddling up together in the back than checking on customers, even after catching their eye and motioning to indicate we needed help. Ultimately, we ended up walking out after 15-20 minutes of waiting with no interaction from the staff, no orders of any kind placed, when the aforementioned waiter/esses walked straight past us, not even checking on our table, to greet and take the order of a table that was seated long after after we were. The hostess also did nothing to indicate to the front of staff they should take our order any sooner, being too fixated on playing with her phone to pay attention. Hisui - you are in a rough position. All of Vacaville is in need of more employees and restaurants have taken it on the chin for sure. That said, I loved the Hamachi Kama, not quite as large as some places, but delicious and satisfying. The rolls I ordered were excellently prepared and the Asahi beers were ice cold. Came in Tuesday lunch and it was pretty packed. We got seated right away at a booth that they cleaned up for us. Our waitress was super nice and made us recommendations. She was also quick about water refills. You can order about 5 rolls per person each round and the rolls come in about 4 pieces so you can try out many different kinds. Pro Tip: DFS stands for Deep Fried Shrimp. We liked the Alamo Roll and the Super California Roll. They are pretty heavy on the rice so knock off one star for that. For some of the nigiri pieces, I felt like the fish was really small and it didn't even cover the whole block of rice. Around 2pm, they announced last call but we were pretty full anyways. I came in today with the Hubs for lunch. Hisui 2 has an all-you-can-eat sushi lunch option, but I was not feeling like sushi today so we ordered off the menu instead. I had the chicken udon, and the hubs has the salmon teriyaki plate and a dragon roll. Our waitress cheerfully took our order, and brought out our food in a very timely manner. She never let our water glasses get below 1/2 empty either (bonus points for that!). The Hubs salmon was fresh and perfectly cooked. It was a very good portion for a lunch item as well. My udon came in a very well made and savory broth. The dragon roll was loaded up and fat! We ate until we nearly popped. Everything was delicious. I'm so glad that I stopped into Hisui 2 for lunch. Update: March 20, 2016 I had lunch with the Hubs and Wee One on a busy Sunday. Everything was lovely yet again. The sushi was well prepared. My bento was spot on. Our server (while having to juggle too many tables) was predictably slow, but pleasant. Our edamame tasted of onions, which means they were stored in the fridge overnight next to said onions-please Hisui 2, make sure your kitchen staff is versed on proper storage technique. My miso soup was a bit lackluster and could have been served warmer ( it was the temperature of piss), and been more flavorful: there was no "umami" to speak of. So we order our food. 10 minutes go by and a couple sits down in the table behind us. After about another 5 minutes my gf gets her food. I still have no received my food which was tempura rolls off their all you can eat suishi menu. At that time another couple showed up and sat at the table to the right of us. After another 10 minutes I see the waiter giving the food to the table behind us. They had ordered the same rolls I got but got theirs wayyyy before me so I ask the waiter about mine. He says he will have to go check. He comes back and says they are working on it. So keep in mind my girlfriend at this point has already had her food for almost 20 minutes... then I see him pick up more rolls which I figured finally my food is coming. He brings it over to the table to the right. WHO ALSO got tempura rolls.... All in all the place stinks literally... waiters don't care about your food... and my gf and I didn't get to enjoy a meal together. I did call out the waiter on everyone getting their food way before us and he said "that's true" lol what a joke. Hisui 2 is one of the examples where yelp reviews are misleading, and they don't always reflect the experience you'll have. When we arrived, we were asked to wait as the cashier helped someone else pick up their to-go order. After 5 minutes, a man in a sushi chef kimono robe thing led us to our table. He was super brusque and was kind of rude, but I'm not sure if that's just his personality or what. After we were seated, we were pleasantly surprised to find out that this place gives out free edamame - perfectly salted! We also tried the miso soup, and it was delicious. However, the rest of our meal was pretty bad. We got the fresh oysters as an appetizer, along with the Rainbow Roll and the Dragon Roll. Unfortunately, the oysters didn't come until we were ready to pay our bill and after we had finished both rolls. One of my BIGGEST pet peeves is when the appetizers come at the very end, because at that point, who even wants it anymore? The staff was also unable to tell me what kind of oysters they were. For "fresh" oysters, how can you not know the name of them? Are you just grabbing them blind from some dinky stall out by the ocean? The oysters also weren't the freshest that I've tasted. At $13 for a half dozen, you'd be better off going to Binchoyaki in Sac during their oyster specials, or at Station 16 for $2 happy hour oysters. The rolls were another giant disappointment. The fish on the rainbow roll was super old and fishy tasting, and was probably from an unfresh slice of sashimi. The rice on the rainbow roll was so thick, it tasted like I had a mouthful of rice rather a sushi roll. The Dragon roll was a bit better, but I'm not sure if it was because the teriyaki sauce drowned out everything else. At least the unagi was good? The food is always good no matter what you order on the menu. Their hand rolls are absolute fire. All the special rolls in the menu are great. They also have a liquor license so they have cocktails available. The food is always fresh and I've never had to wait particularly long for it. The bad is usually the service. Ordering takeout has always been hit or miss here. Waiters and waitresses have always also been hit or miss. Sometimes the service is great. Other times horrible. Overall Hisui 2 tho is a solid sushi experience. The inside is sprawling. Plenty of seating and it's a nice spot for a date if ur partner is into sushi. Taking advantage, bullying people and abuse of power should never be tolerated! "I try not to blast drama but tonight I must. Tonight, I had dinner with a friend at Hisui 2 in Vacaville. We witnessed the restaurant manager, Ken has a verbal altercation with an employee. The employee proceeded to walk off the job. Ken followed her, placed his hands on her, and locked her into the women's restroom. A customer questioned Ken regarding the manner, Ken replied, " shut up, this is my restaurant I speak to my employees how I want". Several of the patrons spoke with her and are willing to help her get legal help. After speaking to many employees I have discovered they violate many labor laws. They do not receive the required breaks or their lunch no matter how long they have worked. They do not receive overtime and are often denied time off even if sick. Minors are serving alcohol and some even consuming it while on the clock. They also do not follow work permits guidelines for Minors provided by schools. The employees I spoke with said they are afraid to speak out because they need the job. EXTREMELY ANNOYED by all of this.
