So when you think of an & Pizza bar you think pizza and beer right... but who knew the drinks at Hive Bar would be so awesome - Bourbon (Manhattan), Gin (Mules), Rum (Daiquiri), Vodka (Lemonade), Whiskey (Tea), wine and beer! The drink prices are so reasonable too! I had no idea but I think I know where I will be during Happy Hour from now on. wink wink and partnered with the &Pizza creations... just terrific. This will definitely be my new "go to" bar in DC. I loved everything about this rooftop bar. It's well designed and relaxing. They really emphasis the "HIVE" part. Everything is related to a honeycomb kind of look. The side tables next to the couches have a honeycomb design and the elevator walls are glass so you can see the painted design while going up or down. They painted it to look like a bee hive. There is an &pizza downstairs where you can order pizzas from and have it brought to you upstairs. read more

This is the perfect D.C. bar. The staff are super friendly, the drinks super customizable and there's &pizza right there for your enjoyment. I loved getting to customize my own drink and pizza. Somehow before this visit I had never been to &pizza so this was a treat! If you customize your pizza you do have to get up and get it but it was completely worth it! My friend and I loved the drinks to. It was exactly what we wanted: local spirits, great sodas because we got to customize it to any length. The staff were also friendly but left us alone. I'm so glad I tried this place and can't wait to come back! read more

Came here on a Friday evening for a gathering with friends. The rooftop was a lovely atmosphere, the food and drinks were lacking. The bar has around 10 cocktail choices(including 2 frozen cocktails and 2 discounted cocktails for State Dept employees), and a limited selection of beer and wine. Every cocktail our group tried was almost sickeningly sweet. You can't order any cocktails not on the menu, as everything is pre-mixed. They don't have bottles of liquor at the bar. The only food choice there is &pizza. While the rooftop was spacious and enjoyable, I'm not sure that's enough to make up for the drink selection. read more

&pizza opened a bar. I went to Hive Bar in the new Hive micro hotel for a Thursday night happy hour. They have the regular &pizza menu and a full bar. I saw an espresso machine there as well. I used to like this place. Not anymore. It needs new management to overcome the many problems and show they care to their costumers. Service and food at this location used to be great, but it has been declining steadily. You are ignored by servers, you have to ask for your food multiple times and lately they have either forgotten about our order or taken about 30 minutes to bring pizza for one. The day was hot. Really hot. We had been wandering around various monuments and parts of Georgetown all day. We were in search of a refreshing drink and we're delighted to look on Yelp and see that we were close to the HIve. The place is a trendy young hotel at the end of a street with a bunch of frat and sorority houses. The decor and atmosphere is all very casual modern- but clean. We took a seat at the bar area tables and ordered some cocktails. I had a gin and cucumber based cocktail that was the most refreshing thing ever on a hot day. My wife and her sister both had drinks that tasted like punch. The staff was being trained and prep for the dinner/bar rush later that day in great detail by the bar manager and we were impressed at the level of service. Prices were very reasonable for the area and we can't wait to come back. By happy hour the entire place was packed and we were glad we had arrived early. read more

Hive bar knows how to do happy hour! As soon as you walk in you notice the vibrant ambiance and are welcomed by the very friendly wait staff. They have a nice offering of cocktails with options for every type of pallete, I sampled the Vodka lemonade which I must say will go down as one of my favorite cocktails ever! In addition to the Vodka lemonade I also had the whiskey tea which was good if you're looking for something that is not too sweet but will do the job and I also had the Gin mule which was amazing and a good option if you're looking for something not too sweet but not too strong. I also tried three different pizzas including The OG, Garlic, and Moonstruck which sounded the most appetizing among the vegetarian options. The meal was then topped off with a Lori Lane pie which is their dessert pizza that includes white chocolate berries for cottage power sugar and agave syrup... You can't leave without trying it! This place is extremely cool! While coming from the city, it is a little bit off the beaten path, but it is well worth the trek to the edge of Foggy Bottom. This is because it combines two of my favorite things, pizza and drinks, and to make it even better it's &Pizza, so all of the pizza is fantastic. The bar is also run by &Pizza and it is their first, full on attempt at a bar. They nailed it. The ambiance is very trendy and fun, which goes great with the Hive micro hotel upstairs. Also, all of the drinks are delicious and made from locally sourced products. The best part about them though is that all of the drinks are very reasonably priced. Lastly, the pizza is phenomenal, as you can always expect from &Pizza, and my favorite pizza is definitely the Farmer's Daughter one, I highly recommend it. Overall, 10/10 and I can't wait to see the next bar &Pizza opens up. read more

My husband and I took a seat and waited to have our order taken. We were told by our "waitress" that she would be right back. She stepped behind the bar, and stood there doing nothing, for over five minutes. After ten minutes passed, my husband went up to the bar to see what was going on. None of the staff would talk with him or take our orders. They stood at a distance, smirking. Absolutely ridiculous. Will not step foot in this bar, restaurant, or hotel ever again. We were in desperate need of cocktails after a long afternoon touring the monuments and Smithsonians, and a Yelp search from the Lincoln Memorial turned up Hive Bar/&Pizza, which was only a few blocks away. We immediately made our way up to the rooftop &Bar, where to our excitement they serve Frosé! Yep, delicious frozen rosé slushies! Our inner basic b*tches were absolutely thrilled! The bar itself isn't very big, probably not the best for large parties, but they had a handful of 2-3 top high tables and two larger couch seating areas which looked super comfy. Service upstairs was a little busy and they only had a limited menu, so we headed downstairs to the bar and were served by the amazing Lizzy! She was super attentive and enthusiastic, and made some great recommendations. Even my super duper gay friend Matt said, "I want to marry that girl!" Which is pretty much the highest compliment you can get from Matt :) I would definitely recommend ordering the jalapeño margaritas if they're available, because they were delicious! I also had a whiskey/honey/tea drink that was super tasty. We split the American Hot Honey pizza - mozz, pepperoni, arugula, goat cheese and spicy honey - so good if you're into that sweet and salty combo, which I definitely am. If you're anywhere in the DC area, I would definitively stop by and have a pie and some frosé! read more

Drink menu was limited due to it being off season but there were still a few tasty options served in cute cups. Bartender was great and personable and very welcoming. We hosted a surprise party for my husband at the Hive rooftop and it was PERFECT. The venue is beautiful and classy looking and our guests loved getting all the &Pizza they could eat. I highly recommend this location for parties of any size. We had about 20 people so we were set with just a corner roped off for us but many more people could be accommodated if necessary and it was priced very reasonably. Thank you Hive Bar!!! read more

My second visit to this bar was for the Bumble City Rep happy hour, and although we missed their actual HH (it ends so early!), we had a great time! We sat at the round table in the back and ordered several pizzas and bottles of wine. The bartender/server was super helpful and anticipated all our needs. The decor was very minimalist and stylish, and The Hive theme perfectly with our Bumble event. Overall I would definitely recommend it, especially for a Bumble date! read more

I got two drinks that cost me $40. I ordered two double well gin and tonics for me and my friend. I was never informed that this bar only has one type of gin and I believe a local distillery gin. The gin tasted very bad. They offered no replacement, nor an apology, simply that I had to pay for the drinks. The bartender never even mentioned only having one gin in house. Or when you order well gin that the prices are that high. On top of that the bartender took his time cashing us out because he was busy showing off and talking to a couple college-looking ladies that clearly were over-served. read more

My Husband and I stayed at the Hive hotel and attended an event at the Hive Bar this past weekend. The staff could not have been more polite, helpful, and friendly. The bartenders Dylan and Kelton were on top of it making yummy drinks and Lizzy the waitress is the best I've ever had. There was a much bigger crowd than they expected and she handled it with a smile and spring in her step. I love &pizza and it was an easy way to get a snack being next door. The hotel itself impressed me. It was small but our room was bigger than I expected, we got a king. It had everything we needed and the staff was super friendly. We will be back. read more

Great rooftop location (but no view), but just okay otherwise. Frose and margaritas are good, but exorbitantly priced for their size. Select &Pizza options available, but they come out of a warming box and are not customizable or fresh like they are in the location downstairs. They also have a very weird system of reserving many of the seating areas for people ordering from the seats, but when you first get off the elevator you are right at the bar and order without realizing you're limiting your seating options. Also, elevator is stupid slow and we gave up on it (on a super hot day!) and just took the stairs - may limit accessibility. read more

I absolutely loved this rooftop bar! The elevator is tiny and a bit shaky but the the rooftop is amazing. There's no "view" like the one from the W. but there's a good amount of seating area. Most patrons are people from nearby office buildings, so after a while, it clears out significantly. They have frosé during the summer. It's a bit too sweet in my opinion, but it's also light and fun for the weather and hanging out with friends. You can also order pizzas from &pizza (no customization) at the rooftop bar. They offer amazing drinks including a frozen wine Rose = Frose ! A Heated rooftop bar with lounge couches and gorgeous views of the city! The atmosphere was great. I loved the view of the city. Not fantastic like the high end areas, but still great. Most of the view is actually GWU, but that's okay, you can see further out because of the low buildings nearby. I came at an earlier time and managed to grab a table, but there aren't many seats if you're trying to sit. The interior is nice and their food is good. But, they only have pizza. Slight caution if you're looking for a variety of snacks. I was recommended the mushroom pizza. It was good, but a bit sweet and cold (it arrived from the kitchen as soon as I ordered it). The Froze was good and different. Ended up not staying too long because I wanted some more snacks. read more

Cool spot. The first floor is small and could get crowded fast, especially if the rooftop is not open. The music is good and not too loud, so you can have a conversation without yelling. There is a small tv in the corner of the bar. So, it's not your idea bar to watch a sports game. Very limited selection for happy hour, but the drinks are good. For beer and wine, they have 1 beer, which is a Hive Lager. It's good and not hoppy. The wine is either red or white wine from the house. For cocktails, they have mojito, sangria and rum punch. We ordered the rum punch and it was delicious. It's citrusy but the perfect amount. The roof top is a cool spot. It's a lot bigger than the first floor, but doesn't open until 4:30PM on Friday. They play jazzy music on the rooftop. They also have frosé and frozen margarita on the rooftop. The frozen drinks are a little strong. You can also order pizza at the rooftop. They have couches and tables all around. From the rooftop, there really isn't any historic buildings that you can see, but the view is nice. read more

Combining &pizza and a bar is a great idea. I love &pizza, and the cocktails were decent. The big issue was that our pizzas took more than 35 minutes. We chose to sit/order at the bar so we wouldn't have to wait in line for pizza. But after half an hour, the bartender told us that the pizza orders for diners at the bar get pushed to the back of the line until everyone in line at &pizza is served. But there's always a line at &pizza, so apparently our orders were pushed back and back and back. Next time, we'll just get the pizza ourselves. read more

Their frosé is delicious - seriously. I've never ordered &pizza up on the rooftop bar, but my mouth was drooling at the sight of what the people sitting next to me were eating. The bar staff were attentive and friendly, even though I will get a frozen rosé every single time I go here it is that good. My only critique is that space can get really limited on the rooftop when GWU is in session and it's warm outside so be prepared. read more

The bar/pizza itself was great, but they made a mistake with payment. I arrived first, but my friend was going to treat us. I figured I'd order while she arrived, and they said I'd need to give them my card to open a tab. I explained the situation and asked whether we'd be able to switch the tab over to my friend's card when she arrived, and they said oh yeah absolutely no worries. They did end up charging my friend for everything at the end of the night, but they also charged me for the initial pizza order -even though I never signed a receipt or anything. I called them (it took a couple of tries before they connected me to the right person), and they apologized and said they'd refund the extra charge. However, it's been about a month since the purchase and two weeks since I last called, and I haven't seen the refund yet. read more

LOVE their rooftop and frosé! But it's a bit pricey for my taste. It was supposed to be happy hour and most drinks were still $10, which is not a good happy hour price! The location and nice layout of the rooftop and ground floor bar make up for it a bit I guess but I definitely can't come here often with those prices.
