Been a Bay Area native my whole life and never have I tried this place until now! I actually saw them featured on the news as now they are selling their apparently famous blueberry coffee cake on GoldBelly. So that's what caught my eye! I placed an order over the phone on a Saturday morning and the food was ready super quick. We ordered: -breakfast burrito w/ sausage: huge portion and very hearty, definitely more of an American type with the potatoes -Florentine scramble: average but large portion -kids' eye opener breakfast w/ turkey bacon: average but also decent portion for a kids' dish -1 tin of blueberry coffee cake: the tin is HUGE! It's basically a whole tray and can easily be divided up between 10 people! The cake itself was good but not spectacular...I was hoping for the cake to be more moist or dense but it's more on the fluffy side and kind of reminds me of a blueberry muffin basically. -1 tin of banana toffee coffee cake: the banana flavor was super light which is fine with me, and the toffee tasted more like a cinnamon swirl. So this cake reminded me of the traditional coffee cake I've had in the past. But like the blueberry one, it's a bit dry and fluffy, not dense and moist. The crumble on this though was better than the blueberry one in my opinion. Yes, I went overboard with ordering the coffee cakes because I figured I could cut it up and share it with the family, which was easily the case. I know cost of good are rising, but this location is using product that you just wouldn't expect for the chain of restaurants. My fiancé had a bowl and the potatoes were left overs from last nights dinner service, the cheese was very waxy and didn't melt. The famed coffee cake definitely has the flavor of a boxed cake mix not the traditional home made flare. Very space on the blueberries. I had a French toast combo. Which in and of itself is a nice mixture, but most places do three slices of toast and two eggs hence what I was Expecting. But for $14.50 all I got was two pieces of French toast, one egg and a sliver of ham (usually a ham steak). Very disappointed. But this location is attached to a hotel so what can you expect I guess. Won't be back to this location for certain. Not sure we will visit other locations if this is the new standard for them. read more

What can I say about Hobee's?! I have been coming to this institution in Belmont, Palo Alto, Mountain View since it first opened. Belmont for me is without a doubt one of the best of them. The servers are friendly and welcoming and great. The Manager Modesto does a great job. The people that bus the tables are also very attentive. The cooks do a great job with all the food. This is my go-to place for a quick and friendly breakfast. I think I have been ordering the BDBIT since time and memorial, like a broken record :) From time to time I change it up a bit with the hashbrowns or ordering the burgers etc. So for a great and nice enjoyable breakfast come to Hobee's!! read more

This place has been a family favorite for decades. And not just this one location but the chain in general. This location is now my go to. I stop here when I'm on my way down the peninsula if I have the time and need a filling breakfast. I also stop if I want to pick up a large sheet of coffee cake to take to a potluck. That's a great thing to bring to a party or gathering, comes in blueberries and regular, they also can give you plates and butter, that makes it an easy choice. I have been going to various Hobee's locations since 1989, it really hasn't changed much since that one remodel in approx. 1995. This lack of change is for better and worse, the meals are generally reasonable as long as your expectations are set in the 1990s. The service at the Belmont Hobee's is hit or miss - that one rude waitress (most places have that), the prices are fair and they have a diverse menu which is a good thing.
