I've always heard great things about the HOBNOB, but after my family's experience this past weekend I will NEVER visit their establishment. Their waitress explained that the Alaskan Crab meal was $55 per person. Then they proceeded to charge $155 per person for a 2lb crab meal. To top it off, they were charged $6 per sprinkle of cheese on top of their soup (4 soups x $6 cheese = $24). That's the price of a full meal! You would think with the price of this meal, the server would have been friendly and attentive to our tables needs, but nope. So now this server has pocketed $135 in tips for a meal she intentionally overcharged us for. We don't mind paying for quality food, but this is just ridiculous! Having to pay $310 for two people to eat in one night. Sickening. read more

Location is great. If you get a reservation in the back room, you will likely get a great view of the lake. Beyond that, you will be largely unimpressed. The server, while reasonably prompt, was less than pleasant. Ok. Perhaps a bad day. It happens. The food? Very, very disappointing. I was there as part of a party of six. Of the six of us, I believe the only person to enjoy the meal was the 6 yr old ordering from the kids' menu. The petite filets were doubtfully actual filet cuts. Medium rare is medium there. Medium is medium well. You get the point. The restaurant is moderately priced (280 for 5 adults, 1 child). It would have been a better idea to grab a quick bite at a neighborhood diner. Well I often think I was born 15 years too late. This place is a great old school supper club. Great look outside and in. I'm so glad that they've kept it the same all these years. We went for the Friday fish fry so I can't speak to the rest of the menu but both types of fish we had were fantastic. The almond crusted walleye was really fantastic and not something you find everywhere. The beer battered cod was really crispy. So often it can be too thick and get soggy from the oil. Not here. Be sure to have a cocktail or three. I recommend the chairman of the board martini and the old fashioned was right on point. Finish up your meal with the pink squirrel. If you're there at the right time and seated near the bar, you will be treated to some live music. I highly recommend this place. read more

My visit to Hobnob was a truly awful experience, that has to be graded to be appreciated... Reservations: F . I made a reservation at Hobnob's on-line reservation page. Not receiving a response, I called and asked why I was ignored. " It gets really busy on the weekends so we don't pay attention to the on-line reservations page" , I was told. Huh? Ambiance & Decor: A . Hobnob truly is decked out like a museum piece from the '50s, and the Bar/Dining Room view is really spectacular. Wait Staff: A . Our server, Amanda, made the awful experience much more pleasant. She was a real gem. I'll ignore the complete jerk of a bartender that insulted my wife's choice of drink. Food: F . I suppose it could have been worse, I just don't know how. Soup was pre-fab and watery. Mixed green salad was lame and un-inspiring. Vegetables were from a can. Steak was terrible, tough, tasteless, fatty. This was a meal that could be prepared by any 13 year old with a Cooking Merit Badge. One of the worst fine-dining meals I've ever had. Value: F . This doesn't even come close to getting what you pay for. I wouldn't return here for dinner even as a freebie; it is that bad. You're paying for the view and you're paying for nostalgia. Neither one of them is worth it. Summary: If you must go, get there when the bar opens and have a couple of drinks and an appetizer (The view really is nice at the bar). Then go get dinner at Longhorn Steakhouse, Red Lobster, or Outback. You'll be much happier. Also... consider this: There are dozens of parks along this beautiful lakefront of ours, that have spectacular views for free. Pack a cooler, grab your wife and have a seat on the rocks some summer evening. Now that's value. read more

It's been years since I've eaten in the dining room here, largely because I was never terribly impressed by the food. However, the Hobnob is now one of my favorite places to go for dinner and here is why: the bar and it's view. The combination of the throwback supper club atmosphere with the view of Lake Michigan creates the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail. My husband and I love going for a drink or two to enjoy the view. Often we'll order the baked French onion soup while we're there, along with the steak kabob appetizer. This is always enough food for dinner and is enjoyable while also being affordable. The piano player/lounge singer is also highly entertains if you enjoy a bit of kitsch, as are the bartenders while they make the signature grasshopper drinks for which the Hobnob is known. read more

This place must own a dairy because there is enough butter and sour cream out to feed a small town! I love coming here because of the view and the dinning experience. I have always had good dishes here, my favorite is Mussels for an appetizer and the Lamb . Service here is always great! read more

Very cool decor, old timey supper club. Great view of the lake. Staff was very well trained and attentive, formal without being stuffy. Manager made rounds to check with patrons, nice. Food was pricey and ok, not great. Ground sirloin was tender and cooked perfectly to MedRare. Kansas strip was tender and also perfect medrare. Skillet steaks were slightly over cooked. AuPoive was destroyed. Ordered medrare, came medwell, it used to be a great steak 3 minutes earlier. Chowder and snails were acceptable. Prices demand outstanding food, and this was just good. Not rating the food or dining experience, but the bar. Came here on New Years Eve and enjoyed a vintage atmosphere with live piano music and brandy old fashions. Food reviews seem pretty mixed, but if you want a fun bar experience with views of the lake, it's a winner. I like the old decor and the oil painting of the past owner as you walk in the door. It's a throwback to a different time and place when roadside supper clubs were a key fixture of the Wisconsin landscape. So it scores points for the history factor. Perched on a bluff overlooking the lake is a pretty nice bonus as well. If I were a guy who went on dates, it's a great first date night place. Get a cocktail, break the ice. We had a family dinner 6 adults one 7 year old. Very child friendly the cocktails all great and traditional. Blue point oysters we had two not so good out of twelve. The rest were good. The baked French onion soup is properly done using glazed onions very tart broth and not too salty. Excellent. Salads were simple and good but the blue cheese dressing was delightfully delicious and made from scratch. Rolls were hot and great. The entrees. The roasted duck with orange sauce was excellent. However the let down was the weiner schnitzel Holstein. The veal was beaten very flat thickness of a quarter then a flavorful batter and crunchy crumb crust. Flavors were great but the meat - well what meat it had a tough texture of a very thin worn out leather shoe soul due to being so thin and over cooked. So it ended up like a thick breaded well seasoned potato chip. Arghhhh. Not recommended at all. The hearten potato's live up to a nice cheesy Wisconsin potato dish. Deserts are great atmosphere great staff was excellent. Would return but stay away from weiner schnitzel. read more

The Hob Knob is the quintessential supper Club from the 60s and 70s. From the white faux leather banquettes to the oil painting of the original owner from a bygone era, you'll feel like a kid again out for a special family meal. I always love the steamed mussels here. I come here once or twice a year just to sit at the bar and eat appetizers and watch the boats on Lake Michigan. The restaurant sits perched on a hill about 150 yards from the shore and has a fabulous view from the bar and the dining room. I had Easter dinner here. The service, as usual, was outstanding. The martinis and the Manhattans from the bar were perfection. I was with three other people and we all tried different things. The prime rib was very good and made to order. Kudos on the duck too. The mussels were delicious. The crab stuffed mushrooms were very small and just average (4 small mushrooms for $11.95). Should have used portabello caps. The salads were a bit skimpy. Those were my only criticisms. Great flourless chocolate cake. Great service and a beautiful view followed by good food and a cool atmosphere. read more

I have not gone there in years but thanks to yelp I rediscovered the Hob Nob for New Years, and I was not disappointed, I had porterhouse steak and it was some of the best I have had in Kenosha so if you would like to go to a very excellent, superior night club the Hob Nob is for you. read more

I wish I could give this review 5 stars. I was so excited to take my family to dinner here. I just moved to Kenosha and my kids and their spouses came to visit for the day. We had a reservation for 7:30 for the 7 of us. We were seated right away. We were near the main bar and very excited by the menu. The service is what we had an issue with. It was very slow. We understood that it was a busy Saturday night but the wait between courses was ridiculous. The waitress rarely came by our table and did not act like she wanted our table at all. After dinner, the waitress said "do you need anything else?" Like she wanted us to leave. We asked for a dessert menu and waited 20 minutes for one. Finally, my husband went and got the hostess to ask for the check. Another server came by and hunted our waitress down. She actually said "oh right, they wanted a dessert menu". Not now, just the check. Of course, a 20% gratuity was included. I normally don't mind that. We were a large party. And normally, I will tip on top of that. She definitely did not earn that tip. She knew she didn't have to. The food was great. We would of loved to try their desserts. When we first sat down, my husband said this could be our special occasion spot. Drove up from Northbrook last week to dine at the famous Hobnob Supper Club. Had 5:30 reservations arrived at 5:31 and were seated immediately. The nice view of Lake Michigan was made all the more spectacular by the full moon rise and its accompanying bridge of gold. Linda, our waitress was spectacular. Started our meal with what else...Old Fashioned cocktails. Very well crafted, but would like a "real" (Luxardo) maraschino cherry. Calamari was tender, with a light batter and prepared to perfection. Classic Baked French Onion Soup was well executed, rich, hot, but a tad on the salty side. My dinner salad was prepared with an excellent and not overpowering Blue cheese dressing and had the standard cold, crisp greens. Steak au Poivre was a quality cut (large as well-I took half home) and cooked perfectly (medium rare) and both the peppercorn crust and sauce were also quite good. My straight up baked potato with sour cream was perhaps the best baked potato I have ever had, served soft, hot, and fluffy. My wife enjoyed the Wiener Schnitzel with butter and lemon which was also hot, moist inside, and perfectly seasoned. Desert was creme brulee and also was well executed. The restaurant was full but it didn't impact our service. Courses were well paced and nothing was hurried. In at 5:30- out at 8:15. Decor inside and out is exactly what you would imagine from a Wisconsin supper club- totally 50s-60s. Coat check, chandeliers, candle light on the table, even the manager/hostess was dressed in a beautiful throwback dress. Great night out, will definitely be back whenever I get nostalgic again. read more

Golly, what a cool place. I went to a wedding here last weekend and this place is swingin' 1960s retro without being delapitated! I really only got to enjoy the basement, which is the least appealing part of this place. It's located right on the lakefront. You can sit at the bar and face Lake Michigan. I can't give this 5 stars because I honestly have no idea how much a meal costs here. I feel there's so much I need to experience here before I give a proper review, but I'm definitely going back. The worst experience ever! Had 8 pm reservations for tonight NYE! We understand it's busy but when they say grab a drink here at the stand and you have to wait 40 minutes for he bartender to finally ask what you want it is ridiculous! Then when we ask when we will get seated at 45 minutes past our reservations and told you are next and you see people get seated before you that came in after you is insane. And I am not talking large parties but 3 or 4 people. So again ask and finally seated and then wait for 15 minutes and no one ever came so we left! The young woman up front never apologized or anything but the nice young man at coat check was apologetic. read more

Excellent food, and quite a bit too! They start you off with soup, then a salad, then the main course. By the time my meal came, I was already full with the soup and salad, and of course, warm dinner rolls. I had the Wiener schnitzel and it was a lot of food and very good!! So good! The service is wonderful. The atmosphere is unique. Staff is very professional, friendly, and experienced. The scenery off the back bar is breathtaking. The prices are a bit on the expensive side but I would gladly pay the premium for the intimate setting and some of the best Old Fashions in town. Worst dinner I've had in a long time. Great company (people) at dinner, but the service and prices were both awful. Example 1: Sodas are $5.50 and NO free refills (wasn't made aware of this until I asked after being served my second one- I only asked because she asked in a way that made it sound that maybe there was an odd chance they weren't). Example 2: We were told soup and salad is included with the dinner, but Caesar salad is not apparently. She said "house or Caesar salad" and I chose Caesar and they charged a $3 up charge for it. The Caesar salad was literally wiltered lettuce with dressing (I asked for no croutons). Example 3: soup is included with meals, but apparently there is a $5.50 up charge for French onion soup that is topped with baked cheese. I was not told this when it was presented as an option. Example 4: I asked the waitress if I should get the chopped sirloin or a chicken of some sort. She said in an annoyed tone, "Well if I were to order a steak, I wouldn't order it chopped up, it's basically a burger without a bun. And, if I were going out, I wouldn't order chicken, so I guess between those two options I'd or the chicken? (Phrased like a question). The steak I was considering was the cheapest of their steak options which I believe was why she was annoyed. Example 5: She gave us our check as all on one, but never asked if it was all on one or split up. I asked her to split it up by couple, and she was very clearly upset and annoyed because of my/our request and said "it's going to take a few minutes cause I've already thrown my notes away.... waiting for us to say "oh never mind then". When we didn't, she made it very clear that she was inconvenienced. After all of this, of course there is an included 18-20% tip, which it then all made more sense why she didn't mind being extremely rude. The waitress also knew there were a handful of our 9 person party who hadn't been there before and very likely wouldn't know the up charges and no refill policy. It's very safe to say I'll never be going back there again. read more

Ok. I am in Racine Wisconsin in a supper club, but the experience was 5 stars for this category. It wasn't a Michelin 5 star but for what and where I was eating, we loved it. Nostalgic-yes. Retro-yes, a worthy experience-yes. Would I go again- you bet! A 6 pm reservation. We arrived early and had to head the the bar overlooking Lake Michigan. Awesome view. Great bar. Comfortable seats. Sat with many locals and regulars. Felt like we were part of the crowd. Dress was everything from jeans to jackets and dresses. Not to loud but a fun crown. Who would have thought there were so many ways to make old fashions. We did ours brandy sweet. Great tasting. We had two. Moved to dinner. The only regret is our table didn't have a lake view-but the old fashioned U shaped booth was great. The sat in a side room. Very nice. To get a lake view you need to make a 5:00 seating or maybe 6:30-6:45 reservation when the tables turn. That was the secret from the hostess. The waitress was attentive, but not overdone. She let us know she had a large party but would be back in a few minutes each time things bot busy. Great communications. Oh-btw. The tables had a table cloth and the waitress lite the candle on the table. Cheesy but fun. For the apps, we had garlic bread with Gorgonzola sauce, very tasty. Oh yeah, not a slice or two but a loaf of garlic bread. (Shades of things to come). And six blue point oysters on the half shell. The blue points were large but not overly flavorable-but for $12 we loved them. Soup was a chicken curry- great flavor. Side salad all good. We opted out from the French onion soup and Caesar salad. Maybe next time. Those are ala carte adders. Maybe $3 each. Worth it for next time. . Dinner. We both ordered the small prime rib cut. Med rare and medium. Perfectly cooked. Loved to know if they su vide the meat for that exact doneness. Tender flavorable. Great seasoning. HUGE cut. I asked our server if this was the 13 oz and not the 26 oz 2X times. She assured me it was. Huge serving. Seriously. Huge serving. Did I say HUGE serving of red meat! Potatoes au grated for the veggie. So tasty. Steaming hot with great cheese crust. Desert was the ice cream Sunday with a Heath-bar like topping. Yum. Huge. We split it. Wanted to try the brandy Alexander but we saw them make it and it would have served 4 easily. Overall. I love the spot. Classic. I imagine this is the type of spot my parents and grandparents would have gone to to eat out that special meal. Neat spot. Thank you friends for recommending the Hobnob in Racine. Ps. Great value on the meal received. Would have cost me $50 more in downtown chicago. The drink, bartender, garlic bread and onion rings were 5 star.. The owner a lady was well a B.. We ate at the bar but had to have a server wait on us after we ordered the apps from the bartender. I get it as the bar gets very busy. I am in the business and we all have off nights and are human but her attitude was silly. Ok now dinner salads were ok as was the soup. The steak and prime rib were well garbage. Choice cut of meat would have been a upgrade. No flavor, so much fat i should have asked for a plate for the fat. and tough.. prime rib tough and no flavor with excess fat. I'll head to Mortons, Gibsons or any good steak house when i want steak.They do have a great view of the lake and old school decor that i love but it does not make up for garbage meat. read more

I loved this place , it did not disappoint. We were prepared to relax , and make an evening out of it. We wanted to go to an old fashioned Supper Club , and this was perfect! The decor was flawless , piano bar , and amazing food. I had the steak with onion rings and gorgonzola sauce , rare. It was AMAZING ! This is one of our "regular" restaurants, (technically don't go out to eat that often). The view is absolutely amazing, and worth the visit. We've never had a problem at the bar. The waitstaff service is hit or miss. The food has always been very good, although I wish they would offer more specials. We tried taking our nieces there for a special night, bad idea!! We went for Easter Sunday had a reservation at 4 pm. Our server said we had to order right away at 4:15 because the kitchen closed 20 minutes ago. I ordered Filet Oscar and it came well done, I ordered it medium rare. I asked to have it redone. The server took it and then told me that what I received was there definition of medium rare. Brown in the center. Then when the server brought it back the outside of the steak what brown in side was I cooked and ice cold. So they didn't even cook it. I didn't bother to return it I took it home and cooked it . What a shame. 38.00 meal wasted. I called and asked to speak with manager and the manger never called me back. I grew up going to this restaurant and have many fond memories. I brought some out of town guests here tonight and the service was poor and the food was mediocre. We had to wait over 2 hours for our food to arrive, when it did there was a beard? (I hope) haïr in my soup. I was offered no apology....way overpriced now for what it is.
