Never been and decided to get the four pulled pork $5.99 specials. At the last minute, decided we needed a large and went to change our order and was told by the woman on the speaker at the drive that the special was a large. We get to the window and the order is $56 and it should be $24. Manager comes to the window and instead of trying to correct the issue he says "We already made the sandwiches." Shut the window. Terrible service. Pork was dry. Potato salad look like it had been run through a blender. This customer is not wild about the service or the product. Two thumbs down. read more

Omaha so desperately needs more bbq restaurants, but we'd never been here before, so early last Saturday evening, we dropped in. I had the rib dinner with sides of slaw and mac and cheese. The Mac and cheese had noodles of a just-right bite, al dente. Unfortunately, they were floating in a creamy soupy yellow sauce with next to no flavor. The slaw was good, though not exceptional. The ribs (as one would hope), were the highlight of the plate. Tender, flavorful, and the serving size was quite generous. I'm a fan of KC sweet bbq sauce, and while the establishment had what was billed as a sweet sauce, it had a strange wang that I couldn't place. I mixed it with the hotter/spicy sauce, which made it better. Overall, it was generous for the price, but pass on the Mac. Instead, the beans are smoky and quite delicious. Leftover ribs were well received at home, so we'll probably give this a second try. read more

Hog Wild is the ONLY BBQ place I will eat at in the Omaha metro area. The customer service is always amazing. They are friendly, prompt and always make sure I get what I want. The food is always fresh, hot and delicious. And it's done super quick! I literally have no complaints about the food or staff here! The prices are super reasonable, especially for good quality bbq like you get here. There's tons of options and I literally love the whole menu. I eat something different every time I go. We went through the drive-through. I ordered brisket, and got a pile of some kind of shredded beef. I was not happy. My wife ordered the two-meat meal of burnt ends. When they handed us our order, we got scolded because you apparently can't order burnt ends as a two-meat dinner. "You can only order burnt ends as a one-meat meal so that's what you got." Oh okay, forgive us, meat goddess. Not an enjoyable experience. I do not recommend it to anyone who wants good food or friendly service. read more

This place was delicious! When you walk in the smell of BBQ just hits you, in the best way possible! It looks like a family picnic inside of a building. It is very homey and comforting. The meals are great. You can get up to three different meat selections and they come with 2 sides and texas toast bread. I decided on the one meat dinner. I got the Brisket, and it was amazing! It was juicy and tender. I got potato salad and Mac & Cheese for my sides. They have two different kinds of sauce, mild and hot. The mild had a nice flavor to it. Overall, for four BBQ dinner meals and drinks it was $56.00. I couldn't believe how cheap it was and how amazing it tasted. We will be coming back for sure! read more

My husband and I had Hog Wild BBQ this evening for dinner. This was by far the best barbecue we have had in a long time. We had the pulled pork with barbecue sauce, I had a salad, and my husband had the side of green beans. The green beans were the best he has ever had anywhere. I'm a bbq snob from Memphis, TN. I was pleasantly surprised with the pork ribs, cole slaw and beans I had for dinner. The meat was fall off the bone tender. They have a mild and hot bbq sauce. I liked the hot bbq sauce , nice sweet heat. I don't know why more people in Omaha aren't coming here. They must not like good BBQ. read more

I'd really like to give this place a 2 1/2 stars. It is close to my office and since I'm always on the lookout for good BBQ I had to try it. I tried the 3 meat combo because I wanted to taste everything. I also ordered a rib on the side to try. They do give you a huge amount of food. Enough for 3 meals for me at least! The thing that really ruined it for me is that ALL the meat comes out already covered in their BBQ sauce. Now to me good BBQ needs no sauce. I enjoy eating smoked meats without sauce, and maybe adding sauce half way through. It was pretty hard to judge the smoky flavor of the meat with sauce already on it. To be honest I thought the brisket and chicken were both a little dry. Hate to keep complaining about the pre-saucing...but c'mon! Lemme taste the smoke! The pork seemed moist and had some good bark...was just hard to taste any smoke flavor through the sauce. The rib was surprisingly my favorite item. The meat nearly fell off the bone, and you really could see the smoke ring in the meat. I'd likely try the ribs again but ask for NO SAUCE! It probably won't be anytime soon though. {{{sigh}}} Just realized I forgot to mention the sides. That is probably okay...neither of of the ones I tried were great. Had the beans and mac-n-cheese. Where to start....everything was great here! At Hog Wild, it was just what BBQ is supposed to be. Moist, smokey and great bark! Great fresh brewed tea. Everything was great! The place was packed and the noise level was not even noticeable. I'll be going back regularly to Hog Wild! I highly recommend Hog Wild BBQ. If you have a bad experience, then ask yourself, did I just whine about it here or did I ask the Manager for help? Atmosphere is fine. Plastic cutlery and plates though. Disappointing. Tea is real thank god. While good tea doesn't always mean good food, bad tea or fountain tea ALWAYS means substandard food... Three meat combo had a lot of meat. Hot sauce is good. Spicy but not a large kick. Mild is good. Rich and slightly sweet. Ribs are good--7. Moist. Saucy. Smoky. Brisket is chopped not sliced. It's Okay. 6/10 Pork is good. 7/10 So Overall--Good not great. Middle of the pack as far as nothing made me say, oh yeah that's good. But, I'm taking home the leftovers and I will definitely eat them. I suppose if I was in the area and wanted BBQ this place would do just fine, but if I'm willing to drive anywhere I probably am Sides: Sides which would never bring me to a place nor take me away but might have given another half star--are just normal. Things I have in my house. Pickles are just regular pickles. Baked beans are just that. They are not BBQ baked beans. 4/10 Coleslaw is a bag mix. Nothing special either. read more

I'm not sure if ALL their ribs are dry and chewy, but three lunches in a row I've ordered the rib snack basket and it seems like the ribs are more like burnt ends. Like I said, dry, chewy and flavorless, all three times! The fact that I haven't finished both ribs during these visits pretty much says it all. My wife and I were not expecting much from this "fast food" BBQ place which is probably why it got 2 stars instead of 1. My wife got the Carolina BBQ pulled pork sandwich with baked beans. She said it was ok but a little dry. I got the 2 meat dinner and chose brisket and ribs. The sauce on the brisket was good but it needed more as the meat was extremely dry. The ribs were actually very good and the other reason this place got 2 stars instead of 1. For my 2 sides I chose Mac and cheese & mashed potatoes with gravy. The Mac did not have much flavor at all. The potatoes tasted like they came from KFC. Overall, not the worst meal I have had but it's definitely in the bottom 20%. I should also note the Carolina bbq sandwich was not my wife's first choice. She wanted the loaded tater topped with brisket....but they were out of potatoes. Also, the amount of brisket in the 2 meat dinner was, for lack of a better term, pathetic. I think they could have stuffed it in the small styrofoam container the mashed potatoes came in. read more

First off, parking is horrible here. I often have had to park at the strip mall with Valentinos across the street. The meat is often dry, and they pour their choice of sauce on it. I like the idea I get to pick the sauce, plus it seems as if they're hiding the quality of the meat by doing this. The pulled meats are often dry. The chicken seemed out of a package from the deli and just covered in sauce. The coleslaw and mac n cheese seem pre packaged and instant. The baked beans did have some taste too it and not too bland. I believe they must smoke the potatoes used in their potato salad. Employees can be hit or miss. I've had some really pay attention and great wait staff, and a few others I could have launched a flare and still got no help. The front counter seems very cluttered and small for an area to be taking orders. Really agree with the others they need to stay open past 8p. This is Omaha, we easily go into the morning hours. All the second shift people also need to eat dinner when they're off at 10 or 11. read more

Went today for dinner. Not busy but the traffic kept on coming in. Had the Carolina Pulled Pork and I would say it was tasty. The pork had a good smoke ring. Was told that the pork and brisket are smoked in house 14 to 16 hours. I like the Hot BBQ and was able to add onions (Left in ring) and Jalapenos. My date had the salad (In a taco shell) with pulled pork. The lettuce was crisp and there were 8 cherry tomatoes included. She was happy with her meal. Had a taste of their Chili. Not a lot of spice but it did have a lot of flavor. Was told they are going to stop making the chili soon. I will have to come back soon to try it. Overall a nice place . read more

Average. As others have noted, the pulled meats are dry. The ribs were the best but there is no great distinction in having the best house in an average neighborhood. The sides of cole slaw and potato salad were completely forgettable. The sauces, too, were average. Or really less than average when one considers how important a sauce can be to the entire barbeque experience. The building is nice, but no lines in the parking lot. As with all BBQ, the prices are higher than usually deserved. I have to compare this place to the now closed Amarillo and McKenna's. Hog Wild loses. Badly. And what's up with the 8 pm closing time? Hog Wild doesn't need to have hours like the old Smoke Pit, but at least move the closing time to 10 pm. read more

Was looking for a different BBQ place outside of the norm and decided to try it. I would NOT recommend Hog Wild. Meat was dry and luke warm at best. Mac and cheese was cold and fries looked like they had been in the warmer for over an hour. Trays were cleaned with a dirty rag and smelled of mildew. Paper towels had dried on bbq stains from previous customers on the ends. Don't set your standards high if you visit. read more

The smell walking in was so promising. However, I now smell like a campfire & for no good reason. The brisket seemed like it had been smoked too fast & the mac n cheese seemed like a Velveeta instant product. The baked beans & cole slaw were good. I am one to say that customer service can make or break a place. The food can be outstanding but the service sucks, I'm not going to want to come back. If the food is average, but the service is great,, I am more likely to go back. On this occasion the service was fairly sucky. I stood at the menu to decide the sides to get hubby and then went up to the counter. The lady behind it just stared at me.. ( This was Thursday the 29th of November ) ,, not one word came out of her, mouth. At least ask me if its to stay or go lady, or Hi can I help you would be nice) .. awkward silence and then I just started telling her what I wanted. she did not say a word when I rambled off what I wanted, which really put me off. Not a anything else? Is this to go? any sauces would you like? nothing! I did order chicken strips for my son and a guy walking by heard it and yelled back to the fry guys to put chicken strips down.. oh someone speaks !!!! . Now for the food, I ordered the open face brisket sandwich which was not good. Tasted like pot roast that someone put in the crock pot all day without any seasoning. I put it in the trash after a few bites. My son ate his chicken strips but the macaroni and cheese I ordered for him went in the trash. It really did not look good, so I couldn't blame him. Hubby liked his, ( pulled pork, beans and potato salad ) ,and that is why I was generous to give 3 stars, only for his food sake. Went here probably the first week it was open. Service was top notch. Got a rack of ribs with mashed potatoes and Mac and Cheese. The mashed potatoes and gravy were probably instant , but the highlight of the meal. Mac and Cheese was pretty good also. The ribs seemed like they were done correctly, but the quality of the meat was just not good and no matter how you prepare it, it's never going to be right. Damn good bbq! I had the pulled pork sandwich with fries and my wife had some kind of salad ensemble. I can't say I'm familiar with eating salads as a main course at restaurants, but my wife said it was good. It was visually appealing, though. The pork and their Hot bbq sauce made for a superb meal on our first visit to this joint. We will return to sample other items on the menu when the mood strikes. As far as negatives, the parking is less than optimal and I have a serious aversion to country music. In fact, that genre of music is a reason I avoid some places. This place has good enough food for return visits, but no one should be subjected to twangy torture while they're trying to enjoy some serious chow. read more
