the drive from solvang in the pitch black darkness was... um... interesting... and quite scary! about 20 miles in the dark with just a couple of traffic lights in between. didn't help that my bf was telling ghost stories the entire way! the hotel itself is clean and spacious and check-in was a breeze. though the hallways smelled like old people and old people perfume (a la white diamonds), the rooms were fresh and pretty big! i like that the sink was separate from the toilet and tub. the beds were comfortable and pillows were fluffy. towels were plush and didn't feel like sandpaper! the breakfast wasn't great... but it was good enough considering it was a hot one with pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausages with all the regular continental stuff like bagels and fruit... i liked being able to get back around midnight and there was still ample parking. i'd recommend the hotel... however the city is definitely lacking! read more

Helpful friendly staff that go beyond regular duties. However, the corporate website said the room rates were $130 per night and that is the rate I was under the impression I was booking. When I arrived at the desk, they charged me a a HIGHER rate of $175 for two weekend nights! Not Lompoc location's fault: that fraudulent deal is called "Bait and switch". It's illegal. So be careful when u book at corp.'s site. Breakfast is ok but not great. My room key almost never worked on my door and the hallway door to parking lot. But front desk is glad to make new one. Bed was very comfortable. I too thought the TV was small. NOW MY HUGE COMPLAINT: I got a (personal) bacteria infection from the pool or spa!!! Absolutely the only source possible! No I didn't bother to tell the front desk. Now I'm using antibiotics. read more

Yes it's a little pricy, but it's a very nice hotel and value compared to the next level hotel in Lompoc. It's a Ying-Yang situation. This place offers some very nice amenities: clean soft bedding, spacious rooms and a awesome breakfast (included). Although the price was a bit higher than expected for a city somewhat in the middle of nowhere, the room was clean and comfortable and the toiletries are Bath and Body Works (so actually usable!). Plus, the breakfast has a full array of everything from little yogurts (including Chobani!!) to hard boiled eggs. The main downside was the price, especially since I paid extra to have the room with a pullout sofa bed--and found that bed to be terribly uncomfortable. Another small disappointment was the tv, which was quite small given the size of the room. But, for such a short stay, it did the job. Bottom line: You get a nice room with good service and a good breakfast. read more

This hotel gets the job done. What I wanted was a clean room and a hotel near VAFB and that's what I got. It is next to a strip mall complete with an Albertson's and some fast food places, so it's a convenient stop. With a fridge and microwave in your room, you can get some frozen dinners at Albertson's across the street and just cook your own food. The room I got was decent. It was clean, typically decorated, and nothing to write home about. That doesn't matter to me though because it's only a place to stay for the night after being at work all day. I'm only here in this area for business so it's nice to know that I have another option with lodging that is close to VAFB but not as far as Santa Maria. read more

Stayed here for two nights during a quick trip to attend a wedding out at Santa Margarita Ranch. We called directly and booked at the triple a rate. Definitely the best deal we could find for a good quality hotel in the area. The front desk staff were extremely nice and helpful. The room was clean and spacious, and included a fridge, microwave, direct tv, and wifi. Nothing special, but a great quality hotel if you're looking for something reasonably priced! read more

This place is very well-maintained. Rooms are very clean, sheets are good quality, soft towels, abundant breakfast, large rooms, excellent staff, especially young lady with long, dark, straight hair that helped check us in on evening of 8/9/19. She ran up the towels to our room and I still feel bad I wasn't in the room to give her a tip. The breakfast had several healthy options like plain instant oatmeal, yogurt, bananas, raisins and walnuts and four different hot options. Some places only have processed sweet breakfast items. There is a delicious Thai restaurant called Suvan Kitchen walking distance from the hotel also with healthy options. Highly recommend! read more

I have no clue where they got the picture for this hotel posting, that is definitely NOT the hotel. I am a HUGE holiday inn express fan and am a gold-level rewards member with international hotels group. I have probably stayed at more than a dozen of their hotels in California. This is the only one that I haven't liked. First of all, Lompoc itself is a $***-HOLE, which you wouldn't expect given it's proximity to Los Olivos and Solvang. The hotel obviously can't do much about this, but if you have the option of staying in Solvang or down the road a bit in Santa Barbara, I suggest it. As for the hotel: The outside of the facility looks like every other POS motel in town, which is a-typical of Holiday Inn Express. I suspect that they took it over from a Budget Inn, Super 8, or Motel 6. Our room was located in the second building. On our way in to the building, while walking down the exterior hallway to the entrance, we were accosted by the VERY STRONG smell of urine. I later discovered that the local homeless population doesn't seem to be steered away from staying in this hallway overnight...probably a good explanation for the smell. The room itself wasn't terrible, but it looked, smelled, and felt like a motel 6 with a paint job and the typical HIE appointments. I'm disappointed in HIE for granting these folks a franchise and I really hope that they either revoke the franchise or require them to remodel the place. read more

I stay here when I have to be in Lompoc for work. If had my fair share of dumpy Holiday Inns, but this one is really nice. The staff is friendly and the rooms are huge and very clean. The rooms even have a fridge (which is kinda noisy) and a microwave. The comp. breakfast is also pretty good. The standard Holiday Inn food, which I'm not complaining about. They also have really good cookies for a late night snack daily! Definitely recommend. read more

We stayed at this place during our visit to Santa Barabara. This is a typical holiday in express. Neat place, moderately spacious rooms, has a swimming pool and I certainly made use of the fitness center. Heater inside the room was noisy. Continental breakfast is good but not great. There are several eating places around HIE. This place is at a conveniently located near to Santa Barabara, Solvang, and Pismo Beach. Worth the money. read more

I stayed at this place for the first time for our annual golf event. While I do agree with most guests here that their staff is fantastic. I can't say too much about the room itself. We have a King Suite with Pull Out bed facing H Street. The street noise is not that bad. The noise from the air condition and refrigerator are nuisance all night. I tried to shut the air down and unplugged the fridge so I can get a good sleep and open the window instead. But the noise from other room air compressor was even worst. There aren't many outlets in the room to plug all our gadgets. I plugged my phone charger behind the pull out( have to move it out a little) but ended up forgot it when checking out. That's $20 loss. He breakfast was also just ok. Processed egg omelet, pork sausage and turkey bacon. But they are not that tasty. I ended up ate the instant oatmeal, yoghurt and banana for breakfast instead. This place is ok if you don't think about the price they charged. Our room averaged about $195/night for three nights. The rate at the Comfort Suite next door is better than this place and their room is quieter too. read more

Room floor plan is good to give guests privacy (readers will know this importance when encountering the lack of it). Location is acceptable because it is on Highway 1-North H Street. I could say that Habit Burger and Chipotle share parking space with the hotel--so closely located. Next door has Panda and KFC. A big shopping plaza including Starbucks and Albertsons is across the street (as of Sun. 5-27-18). Staying at this Holiday Inn Express could maintain your regular convenient access to civilization with small town's charm. It is about two hours drive to Los Angeles and a good getaway spot. We stayed at this location for 2 nights. The hotel was clean and bed was comfortable. The hotel was quite without a lot of noise regardless of time of day. The parking lot is a cluster because of the location behind two restaurants. The restaurant patrons park in the hotel parking lot. However, for the quality of the hotel it was well kept, clean, and comfortable. I do feel their nightly rate is too high, especially for Lompoc area. read more

Big clean rooms. A bit pricey for the quality but not excessive. It seems to be a safe location the parking lot is clustered and crowded but it is in the middle of several surrounding businesses and some construction was going on during our visit. We would definitely stay again. But we will shop around if time allows. I think a better value can be had. read more

I stayed here for a week and I was very impressed with the service. The staff was very polite, kind and flexible to any changes needed. The room was very clean and didn't have any issues with receiving help. Several times I noted that they remembered my name even after I didn't go to the front desk for anything for 2 days. Very impressive. The pool was very pleasant, the jacuzzi was clean. Definitely recommending it to anyone who ask. The place is also decently affordable. read more

My experience of staying at this Holiday Inn Express was not too bad. Great rate with AAA discount. Can't complain :) Everything pretty much met all the standard I'd expect out of this level of hotel. Our room was clean - I thought it was kind of cool that they have pillows labeled soft and firm (each bed got two each of each type). I appreciated the elevator up to 2nd floor. Looks like the hotel had renovation not too long ago. Complimentary breakfast also offered pretty good variety of oat meals, hot food, bread, Greek yogurt, etc. We were pretty happy with our accommodation. read more

We usually stay at Holiday Inn Expresses, but this one was a disappointment. Mainly because the bed was uncomfortable. I wish I could remember the room number. It was on the second floor in the second building facing the back and it was a king sized bed. It is unforgivable to charge people money to sleep in an uncomfortable bed. Quite the difference from the Motel 6 next door. The hotel clerk allowed us to check in early at 11 AM and we were allowed to a late check out. The king sized bed/room was clean, spacious, and very relaxing. It was very quiet at night, easy to fall asleep and not worry about what may be lurking under the sheets. DISH cable was a plus. A lot of channels to choose from, which can be rare in most hotels. Free WiFi, hairdryer, and ironing board in the room.Their business center was helpful to me. I was able to check in to my flight out of LA and print my boarding passes there at the hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone. It is well worth the extra money! read more

I've stayed here and the Embassy Suites located about a quarter mile away, and this is the nicer of the two hotels. The holiday inn express is a relatively new hotel, and offers comfortable rooms. For the price ($100/night) it's well worth it. The breakfast is middle of the road, and offers a few hot options to supplement the usual cereal, bagels and fruit. I'm a bit of a coffee snob and the coffee here is actually pretty good (I burr grind blue bottle coffee and brew with an aero press if that puts my nerdiness in perspective). DirectTV in the rooms is pretty deluxe as it offers a ton of channels including HBO etc. Lompoc itself is pretty bleak. Food options are very limited, and there's not a lot to do. The mini fridge and microwave in the room along with a Raleys down the street can help bridge the gap. If you have to come to Lompoc, the holiday inn express is a safe bet. read more

Came here because we were visiting family for 3 days and 2 nights. Rooms were nice. Beds were comfortable (not as great as my bed, but comfortable still). Firm and soft pillow choices. Quiet. TV was ok, but no sleep timer. Breakfast was ok. Not much choices, but ok. They did have biscuits and gravy, pancakes, and over-cooked bacon as well as the hotel norms muffins, bagels, yogurt, cereal, milk, juice, and fruit. The food is pretty much the same every day. The eggs were scrambled the first day which was ok, the 2nd morning they had the eggs folded in half with cheese in it.....didnt taste very good (and I usually love omelets). Main complaint is the fact that the hotel is separated into two buildings, and yet the breakfast is in the main building near lobby. So we had to go out in the cold weather from our building to the main one. And my mom was with me and she doesnt walk as well as she used to, so walking that far was difficult, but driving was not really possible since the parking lot was still full near main building. The other issue is elevator. They are located OUTSIDE the buildings and require room key to operate. That seems unsafe especially at night as well as annoying. Half the time our room key wouldnt work for the elevator, and that became more annoying especially when you have 3 kids waiting here in the cold to get in (early mornings and evenings very cold in June even with jacket). Ice machines are only located on first floors. So we had two options, 2 flights of stairs or elevator and use room key to get through door and use it again to come back up elevator. We had to pay for a suite with 2 queen beds and a sofa sleeper because we had 5 people. My issue with that is we dont need a 5th bed at all. This trip was me, my mom, and my three kids ages 4,2, and 1. The 4 year old sleeps with gma on trips and she doesnt mind it, and the 2 and 1 year old sleep with me (they sleep in own beds at home fine but do get scared a little bit in hotels). At most hotels we can get by with a standard room with 2 queens, but this place would not allow that since we had 5, even though all 3 kids are very young and sleep with parent. And the sofa was really to big for the size of the room. So because of the extra money having to spend on a bigger room we dont need, we may choose some place else. read more

This is a very comfortable motel. Clean well managed and a friendly staff. Rooms are of ample size and the beds are pillow top and comfortable. The breakfast bar was well stocked and varied. Lompoc is a very small town with the HI the better hotel. There is a business center located near the lobby. A pool and spa near lobby. All areas were clean. Overall I would stay again. read more

Our car broke down and we had to stay overnight in Lompoc. The place was a completely typical Holiday Inn Express, clean white linens, decent bathroom, etc. We stay in this chain lots of times as we cross country. They often allow dogs and that is why we chose this one. Well, no dogs allowed here and there is a $250 fine if any evidence of a dog is found in your room. We had our dog sleep in the car all night but next day we brought her in because the car wouldn't start and we had to get a tow. One of the maids happen to see the dog and so, well, they were fairly nice but said they'd have to be sure there was no dog fur in the room. It's irritating when hotels don't accept dogs when it's obvious they can be put in certain rooms... but oh well. The only other complaint is that we were in a no smoking room but I smelled smoke at night and again early in the morning. It was okay, but I'd try not to stay there again. read more

Comfortable, Clean and Great Staff. The staff was warm, welcoming and asked of any special things they could do for us. We got an early check in and was able to get a late check out if we wanted. Great breakfast...omelette, biscuits and gravy, fruit, yogurts, cinamon rolls, coffee, oj....and more. No, I didn't have one of each!! Breakfast was included in our rate which is buffet style in separate comfortable room near the lobby. Breakfast gal also asked us how everything was. The details have made me want to write a review. Only reason I'm not giving it a 5 star is that it would be great to have a "view" but the location is safe and nice. There are some big rig trucks parked adjacent to parking spots. That was a bit different, but they gotta deliver us the goods!! Parking is plentiful and free. read more

Rooms are average. The hotel itself has a weird setup, 2 separate buildings makes it extremely inconvenient if you're in the detached building. Staff is extremely friendly. The one complaint I have is that I was given conditioner and mouthwash but no shampoo, of course I noticed this while I was already showering. read more
