OK, I like this place and have been here several times before but something rubbed the wrong way this time but first, what I enjoy. Nice place, down home and comfortable and staff is pleasant and professional. Menu options are good and on previous visits, did not have any complaints. What I did notice this time was, i ordered the "Greek Omelet" but asked for it to be scrambled which I do most times anywhere I order eggs but this was the first time ever I was charged an additional $1.00 to have it scrambled which naturally is less skilled than making an omelet as no folding, flipping. I was also charged an additional .70 which was not explained on the menu which I'm assuming egg charge for the long past bird flu extra charge on eggs? So now my $17.00 egg dish is up to $18.75. Upon looking at the receipt I also noticed a revenue share charge of 2% on our bill for 2 people at $0.88. Now I know this sounds petty but $17.00 is already expensive for an egg dish with no meat and on top of $3.50 for coffee, an additional $2.29 for my dish (includes half of the rev-share) is pretty annoying not to mention my friend left a 22% tip and that just bugs me. By the way, if not doing the math, my breakfast was $22.25 + tax + tip so eggs and coffee for me was approximately $27.00. We did both agree though that we're not likely to return anytime soon. read more

HBC its one of my favorite places to come and eat! There is nothing on the menu that isn't delish!! I've been coming here for 3 years and it gets better each time. The stroll on the beach, chile verde omelette and the avocado toast, just a couple of drinks and dishes to try!! The staff is friendly and fast! Our ladies at the counter always so funny!! I always request counter seats!! Can get very busy and loud. They have patio seating pet friendly!! This place is the place to have the best brunch and lunch!! Love coming here!! read more

While the food was good, it wasn't anything special considering the long wait. They also have the tables packed onto a small space, and unfortunately it just wasn't worth the wait, and the lack of parking. The service was good, but it seemed like they had more tables than they could handle. read more

There was a line outside so we waited about 15 minutes before a hostess finally greeted us, once we were seated it took another 15 minutes before we saw a waitress. I ordered the tri-tip sandwich, I can say this, I have never had a tri-tip sandwich like this. It was mostly grilled onions with just a few, tiny pieces of tri-tip. All dishes were delicious. Burger was my favorite. Huevos rancheros are a little Americanized but still tasty - I liked the crunchy tortilla. The breakfast sandwich could use sausage but I thought it was really good - great bread. Hash browns could have been more crunchy and flavorful. I really can't add much to what everyone else has had to say about HBC, it's a fun little place in a great beach vibe area. Service is great, everything I've had to eat there is great. You can assume a wait at busy weekend days and times so plan ahead with a coffee in hand to endure the chill on those marine layer mornings! I do notice that the waitstaff does have a tendency to pay more attention to their "regulars" leaving us unfamiliar faces having to catch the eye of our server. I understand the additional attention but not looking at your other tables can leave the rest of us a bit wanting. Bottom line, go, enjoy the great food and atmosphere but exercise your patience and don't go if you are in any sort of a hurry. read more

Great breakfast spot near the beach. I had chicken and waffle which I would highly recommend. The boneless chicken was delicious and savory to pair with my well made waffle. You will need all in your party present to be seated. There is a back outdoor patio if you want to eat alfresco. Parking can be a challenge since it's in a beach neighborhood but if you don't mind a short stroll there's plenty of curb parking next to the school down the street. The wait is unnecessarily long for a small place. I was told my wait would 15-20 mins and I waited twice as long. There were parties waiting outside as well for that long too. However, as soon each party was walked in to be seated they noticed there was plenty of available tables inside & out. My party was made up of two people, and we were disappointed as we walked in and noticed open tables. There were two other parties sitting next to us who also commented on that same observation. Even though the restaurant is only steps away from the beach, I was a little disappointed that I couldn't enjoy the view from the restaurant. I should've eaten outside to enjoy the fresh air. My family drove for about an hour to enjoy the brunch, but we didn't think it was worth all the drive, especially the Breakfast Burrito. Excellent little spot next to the beach....literally steps from the sand. Limited parking but that's to be expected around the area. Friendly & attentive staff, great food selection and prices are good. I had what I think was called "Hangover" on the menu. Very tasty and I would definitely order again. Delicious breakfast!!!! The Chili Verde omelette is worth another trip down there! Potatoes were great, hash browns crunchy and delicious, coffee decent and atmosphere fun. Kid had the Hollywood breakfast, hubs and I both devoured our Chili Verde omelettes, and friend enjoyed his hangover breakfast despite not being hungover. Service was courteous and efficient. I've never been asked if I wanted my toast buttered before... but I liked the option. I would definitely recommend this place, and was bummed we didn't get to try more before leaving... the lunch menu looked delicious as well! read more

We stumbled upon HBC the day after New Years and it has since become one of our favorite breakfast spots. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and every experience we've had has been great. My sister, mom, and I were trying to find a restaurant for brunch to meet at that would be a perfect in between and we found this gem of a restaurant. The server was so sweet and accommodating. My sister was not a fan of the coffee and the server was so kind to offer her something she would enjoy instead. Driving up from riverside with the family of seven! We do have local family in the area but never mention Hollywood beach cafe lol wait was good about 20-25 min on a Saturday afternoon. I stopped here with a friend for brunch on a weekend. The place wasn't busy and we were seated right away. Our server was super nice and friendly. Our food came to the table quick enough, but we didn't feel rushed and it was nice to catch up with someone I hadn't seen in a couple of years! I got a breakfast burrito, customized, and it was perfect. So yummy and everything tasting so fresh. My friend got a burger and fries, and I stole some of her fries, which were also quite good, big and fluffy!
