The person behind the counter said that they were running low on sauce and weren't giving out any more! Seeing as though the original cup of sauce wasn't even filled all the way, it was a bit disappointing. Overall, I don't think i'll come back. We sat outside, but weren't told that there would be a band playing 10 minutes after we sat down - 15 feet form our table, with their PA system at 11. The band was okay, but the vocalist thought screaming was a solid plan to aid in digestion. It wasn't that busy but it took over 30 minutes for the food to arrive. They felt bad so they brought part of our order early, then said it would be another 6 minutes. It was more than 10. The server felt bad and halved out bill - but still. Then we saw the 3.5% added tax the Harbor District adds to the bill!!! WHAT?!?!? Needless to say, we won't be going back to Mrs. Olsen's and won't be eating at any restaurants in the Harbor District.

This place was such a great find! My boyfriend and I were heading to Santa Barbara and looking for brunch spots in Oxnard. After seeing some good reviews, we decided to give it a try, and I totally understand why it has such high ratings. The service was fantastic and our server was really attentive. I had an Irish coffee, and honestly, it was probably the best one I've had outside of Ireland. I also ordered the avocado toast, which was delicious, and the pico de gallo on top added a little something to give the toast a different flavor. The tater tots and hash browns were also delish. The inside ambiance was nice, but we sat outside, which was great too. Even though it was a bit chilly, the heat lamps kept us comfortable. If this place weren't so far away, I'd definitely make it a regular stop. Highly recommend it if you're in the area! read more

We dined her for a date night and found this place on Groupon. When we first entered the building there was a reception desk. A woman was on the phone so we patiently stood at the desk for over 5 minutes. The woman never looked at us or acknowledged us in anyway. We were dressed nicely and excited for a romantic evening. We assumed this was the check in for the tour of the winery. We felt awkward and eventually moved on, opting to not do the tour. We were greeted nicely by a waiter at the restaurant. The food was elegantly presented and delicious. We had the Salmon and Grouper entrees, 2 different salads, the chocolate cake and caramel flan for dessert. My husband had the wine dinner option and the waiter paired wine for each of my courses. The wine was very good and excellently paired. We enjoyed our dining experience. read more

Well, we have been coming to HBC every so often for a few years now. Today was an experience that will not have us returning. I do understand the food service business, and I also understand food service management, and some days it goes bad, today was that day for us. 1 hour and twenty minutes with no food after placing our order, we were told after 1 hour that the manager (who never made an appearance to even smooth over the situation) was going to comp a portion of the check, too little, too late. Went inside, spoke to manager about the situation and said good day with no food and a really bad taste for HBC. read more

Hollywood Beach Cafe is one of our favorite spots in Oxnard. We bring our doodles there all the time and absolutely love how dog friendly they are. They even have a convenient dog entrance in the back, which makes it so easy after a walk by the beach. The staff is always warm and welcoming to both us and our pups. Great food, relaxed beach atmosphere, and an awesome local vibe. It's become a regular weekend stop for our family. I found out about this place on Yelp and I totally loved it after my first visit. I took my boyfriend because he's an omelette lover and he liked it so much that we now go at least twice a week. Almost forgot the biscuit which is optional instead of toast was pretty good. 3 stars and really 2.5 rounding up for good service.
