Since I have been spending my birthdays on island since 2004 with the exception of last year, I am always looking for chicken and noodles for my birthday as noodles represents longevity. I use to get the garlic noodles at the Maui Swap Meet way back when so have been on a mission to find another after they left. Sam Sato and Nobu's Lunchwagon filled the void for awhile but I never forgot those garlic noodles. First I tried looking for Shorebreak Grindz but did not see them at the Kihei Fourth Friday the two times I was there and they happened to take that Friday night off when I was in the area for the Maui Fair. I am not sure if Holo Holo is formerly Shorebreak Grindz but persistence pays off and I finally found them at the Maui Sunday Market this year. So good, I ate 1/3 of that quart right away in the car and had to restrain myself so I can have some left over for my birthday later on that week. Next year I may have to get 2 quarts.

Ooooo so yummy. I love coming to this food truck. I usually see them at the sunday Maui market at kahului shopping center. We got a bowl of it and it was 8 bucks. It was delicious. Garlic noodles and chicken. Perfect for dinner and some for lunch the next day. Friendly service.

    Quart size!

I originally planned to eat more but was stuffed after this. I needed to share the quart and both of us couldn't finish! The rest was saved for leftovers the next day. The noodles are cut short so it's easier to take your bites. I normally prefer long noodles but being cut shorter works better if it's a dry noodle dish. I'd suggest getting the chicken on top if you don't have any dietary restrictions against it. The chicken was on point and wasn't too salty, overly fatty or dry. It was so good that I would try and strategically take bites of my food to ensure that I wasn't left with too much noodles and not enough chicken. Wish it was cheaper, but it's a standard price for Maui fare. You can't really compare prices to Oahu where almost everything is cheaper when it comes to food. Still trying to find a plate lunch that can compete with the insane $5 specials Kalei's Lunch Box. Since this truck can't compete with how much Kalei's can buy in bulk, I think this is a great contender since I got full so quickly and had leftovers. Curious to try the boba flavors but I didn't see anyone else ordering them. Maybe next time! This place will be getting 5 stars if the boba is amazing!

My favorite place to grab garlic noodles on Maui! I usually see this food truck during the Sunday Market event located closer towards the highway. There have been times when they were all sold out so make sure you get there early! You can order a bowl or quart, if I were you I'd get a quart because you can never get enough of this deliciousness. You will get savory garlic noodles with teriyaki chicken on top. I would rate this place 5 stars but every single time I go I'm never greeted with a smile or aloha. The staff pretty much waits til you order, tell you how much you owe, then give you your order - all that with a blank expression. I would recommend this place if you're craving fried noodles! To make it even better, its very affordable!! Usually there is a long line because everyone wants to grab a bite. I go around 6:30-7pm because they're most likely sold out after that - happened to me a few times, learned my lesson to be there early!

Little food truck at Kahului Harbor on Saturday. Also at First Friday and Fourth Friday.

I was scoping out all the food trucks parked at the harbor one morning and I found this little gem all the way at the end of the line of food trucks AFTER I had placed my lunch order elsewhere. Shucks~ Made some small talk with the owner who was nice and friendly and he gave me a little sample of his noodles. After having a bite, I was on a mission to get a whole order next time I had the chance. I found out they would be at a local elementary school one morning and knew this was my chance to get a taste. I had 2 orders of the garlic noodles which are topped with cuts of teriyaki chicken. They come in a 1 pint Chinese take out box which make for easy transport when you've got your hands full of other goodies. The serving SEEMS small when you look at the box, but once you get it onto a plate, it's like magic and transforms into a pretty sizable portion enough to share between 2 people. I did have to wait quite a while which was odd to me since I was the only one in line, but patience is a virtue. The first time I had a taste, everything was cooked to perfection and packed with flavor. This second time around the garlic wasn't as cooked/crispy and didn't have AS much flavor as the first. However it was still really good and the teriyaki chicken complimented the noodles very well. I just wish there was more chicken to balance it all out. All in all though, the garlic flavor is amazing and normally I would add shoyu (soy sauce) to my noodles, but this doesn't need it at all. Legit. Mmmhhhmm. So yes, check them out! They're not always at the Harbor, but can be found elsewhere on the island depending on the event like 4th Friday in Kihei. Best to follow them on Instagram for the latest updates!

After some brief research online, I'm 99% sure that these guys are the same vendors that have a booth at the Wailuku First Friday event with the banner name of "D&M" that sells those insanely delish garlic noodles. The banner even states "no shoyu needed" which holds very true. Look for them under the banyan tree near the corner of Market & Vineyard. If you're at the Kihei Fourth Friday event, they have a food truck under the Shorebreak Grindz name. MENU: Garlic noodles with chicken! FOOD: Garlic Noodles - $10.00 (quart) Two sizes are available and I suggest you get the quart size as you'll regret getting the little boat size. The thick, yellow noodles are stir fried and seasoned perfectly with loads of savory and garlicky flavors. No shoyu needed, for real! I do like black pepper though. The noodles came topped with very tender strips of marinated and broiled chicken thighs. Highly recommended. SERVICE: Friendly with quick food delivery. OVERALL: Excellent stir fried noodles.

    Woot woot!

I actually was here for a Fourth Friday at Kihei and had a craving for garlic noodles and ta-daaaa here they are! AMBIANCE: Remember this reflects Fourth Friday at Kihei thus parking was across the plaza. There are plenty of seating but it does get busy. Vibes are family friendly great. You may not get a nice view of the beach but if the weather is right, sunset is always beautiful FOOD: Garlic Noodles (Recommend) Aside from my garlic noodles, this a pretty solid batch. Portion was fulfilling and presentation was a-ok. There was a good amount of garlic and the sweet teriyaki chicken gave it some good sweet taste. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Quick, simple and friendly! TL; DR OVERALL: 4. Solid service, reasonable price, good portion, and delicious noodles! If you're looking for a good mix of garlic noodles and chicken, this is the spot to feed your hunger. Tips * Simple truck with limited selections so don't expect much.

We had heard about this food trucks garlic noodles but hadn't seen it till last night at the Sunday Market. The line was long but moved pretty fast. Had 2 sizes bowl/quart. The sign said with Teri chicken so just assumed automatically came with chicken. The girl at the window was really friendly and explained I could get just noodles or less noodles with chicken on top. I wanted chicken so chose that option. They take credit cards but only if your order is $10 or more. After they run your card you are given a cell phone to add a tip and sign your name. There was no place to sit/eat at the market-guessing cause of covid so be aware you either eat standing up/sitting in your car or take it to the beach/home to eat. The noodles & chicken were warm and packed into the quart box. I was very surprised how much chicken was included. Noodles were very garlicky-I loved them. They were not greasy at all. The chicken was very tender and seasoned well. It was easily enough to share for 2.

Noodles and Rice is located in Kihei. There is plenty of parking (free). There is a single-room bathroom for customers. Super clean! The restaurant is impeccably tidy. There was not a speck of dust or a single water stain in sight. Well done! Plenty of seating inside. Very inviting, cozy space. Perfect for late night noodles (and rice)! The staff were extraordinary friendly and kind. The pho was delicious! The Thai chili oil is quite spicy, but tasty too. I wish we were hungrier because their appetizers look good. RESERVATIONS: Not needed. PARKING: Free & plentiful. MENU: Vietnamese apps, noodle & rice selections, desserts. FOOD: Crispy Tiger Shrimp (4 pcs.) Sizable, peeled shrimp that needed to be cooked more as they visually and texturally tasted a tad rare. The coating was light and crispy but needed more seasoning as they relied on the included dipping sauce for flavor. Lettuce Wrap Romaine innards provided for the perfect vessel for the ground chicken, though the poultry needed a serious flavor oomph. Special Pho The pictures, especially the dark-hued broth, looked so good, I had to try it. This was my first ever beef pho and it was very disappointing. First off, the broth was not hot, a serious flaw for me. Secondly, the flavor was very subtle. I did enjoy the tender slices of meat, especially the meatballs. I wished my carb overload didn't go to waste, but it did. SERVICE: Greeting was immediate and welcoming. Food delivery was quick. Wait staff were friendly but there was no follow up. TIP: There's an automatic gratuity for kitchen staff and a surcharge for using credit cards. OVERALL: Meh.

We ordered the garlic Ramen and the spicy beef Ramen and the chicken Katsu. We don't have any pictures because our phones were dead from no electricity from the storm, and the folks were so nice they let us charge phone at the counter. The portions are humongous. We were shocked, even though we were super hungry since we haven't had any real food for almost 24 hours, we could only eat half of the food. Granted we order three plates for two people, but still. And even at dinner, we couldn't finish the leftovers because it was just very filling. The flavors are really good. I didn't expect to have dined here, but I'm glad that we did. For how busy they were, they were very attentive and apologize for just slightly longer wait times. But honestly for such a crazy rain storm, it was so wonderful to have them be open! It's a simple restaurant in a plaza with a Safeway. Nothing fancy, but also not really a hole in the wall either. It's not a particularly trendy or a cute place, but it does the job. There's plenty of parking in the plaza that's free and then the restroom is also easily accessible and well kept.

The decor here is eccentric and funky - Thai illustrative wallpaper, Elvis cardboard cutouts, Beatles coffee table books, Back to the Future hoverboards, and SO much Star Wars. We arrived at 7PM on a Friday to a nearly empty dining room. Well, we went into dining room 1 and saw two people, stood there for a good minute with no one coming by to seat or greet us, so I walked over to dining room 2 since I saw a woman wiping down tables. She said we could dine here too, so I walked back outside (rooms are not connected) to get the rest of the party over. We sat in the middle of the room, since there wasn't anyone else and marveled at the "quirky" decor, which was kind of interesting. A few minutes passed and a woman came out with small bottles of water. Since we're new to the place, we didn't know there wasn't a menu - just a QR code that wasn't prominently displayed or designed (dark on semi-dark colors). We scanned it and it is the weirdest menu I've ever seen filled with "jokes," that actually adds to the bill. It was difficult to navigate as it is long and not in organized, but Pad Thai for $25? Get out of here. I don't care how good it is. I'm not paying $75 for three entrees. The waitress hasn't checked on us for a while when we had questions, so we decided to leave. I went to the window to call them to let them know, but they didn't hear me above their own chatter, so we just left. Light industrial condo units converted to a restaurant in an industrial area with hardly any customers on a Friday night. I don't know how they survive. Three stars for the decor and possibly the food.
