Cheese pizza slice

If you're looking for a quick snack or a cheap meal, Home Slice is a good option. They have both a sit down restaurant and a more casual order/pickup option--this review is for the casual option. For this option, you order the pizza by the slice. When I came, there were 3 options: cheese, pepperoni, and margherita. I tried the cheese pizza and to be honest, I didn't think it was anything noteworthy. If you're craving pizza, this will definitely satisfy that craving and if you're in the area and are having the late night drunchies, I'm sure that this would really hit, but I've had better pizza elsewhere. Everything here is pretty self serve and you can seat yourself at any of the picnic tables in front of the stand. Service was friendly!

Wow this pizza blew me away. The crust was so crispy and flavorful, and the turkey sandwich was EXACTLY what I was craving. The ambiance of this place is so cool. We waited for a good 40 minutes but it was definitely worth it. This is the first place I've ever seen offering cookies and milk for dessert! This is a gem!

I now understand all the reviews and long lines. One of the best pizza joints we experienced. Thin slice pizza with a very sturdy and crunchy crust ! The crust is what makes the pizza. Flavors and cheese were delicious goodness. We got to split the toppings to get a taste of some of their signatures. This photo below is a large. We had leftovers and the crust stayed crunchy even when cold! Has a nice outdoor patio to wait for seating, get a drink at the bar, or to sit outside. Service was very attentive, friendly, and on point. A place I would recommend if craving a slice of pizza.

Great food, service, and atmosphere. Recommended by a friend. Love the pizza and the crust is amazing Oh yeah don't forget the hot honey to put it even further over the top. Stop in and enjoy! Great location for a stroll as well.

This place gets super busy being along South Congress but service is relatively quick. Note there is a line outside but also you can order from inside at the cash register. I tried their cheese pizza and honestly this felt like New York quality being a thin slice. I felt lucky that the batch I received had just come out hot.

This place seems to be doing it right, you got home slice sit down side and across the lot got more home slice looks to be more for grab and go! We tried a few different things and everything was delicious

This was one of our bucket list was to come here, to be honest, we didn't like the pizza as much as we thought.. but the service was amazing though.. the place was super nice ! ! Very cozy!

I'm only home for a day, and my mind went straight to Home Slice Pizza! It's by far my favorite place, way before I started doing Yelp. I like the atmosphere and the sweet service. It's such a cool vibe, very relaxing. Plus, they undoubtedly have the best pizza and calzones. Some people compared their pizza to New York-style pizza, but I disagree. Home Slice Pizza has made its own rite of passage when it comes to perfecting the best pizza and calzones. Now I do like New York, but Home Slice is in a class of its own!!

A classic pizza place founded in Austin! I can't believe I've never written a review for it since I've been multiple times. While they do have seating inside, it's a small space. Parking is usually difficult to find and not free (except on Sundays). It's best to order to-go and enjoy eating from the comfort of your home. There's usually a wait. However, this is the best NY-style pizza I've had in Austin. I love the classic Margherita. It tastes fresh and delicious! We ordered two large pizzas to share among four people and still had a few extra slices (for a second meal!) For pizza places, this is my go-to!

Shana W.

Came here after hearing great things and it absolutely didn't disappoint! We came here with 6 people and the wait wasn't too terrible. The staff was very friendly and kind. The food was delicious as can be! We got the eggplant pie and it wasn't what I was expecting (I was expecting more of an eggplant parm situation), but it was so good! I'll be thinking about it for a long time! The area is really cool with cute decorations. Chill spot and really enjoyed our time here. I recommend patio sitting if the weather allows.

If you're a tourist don't come here! Biggest tourist trap in Austin. 22% tip added on with a party more than five. If I could give zero I would. Service was terrible. They charge you a dollar fifty for half a tablespoon of hot honey. It's not served on pizza, just on the side. I am a local and decided to check it out. There are about 15 pizza places better than here. If you like empty, lack luster pizza and terrible service to top it off, this is your place! If not, I would recommend Toss pizza. Just because things are convenient, does not make them worth it. This is one of those places.

Meikala H.

I've had pizza from so many places including New York and none of it compares to this place! I love home slice pizza. It's by far my favorite pizza place. The vibe is very lively and vibrant and Austin. It can get busy but there are options for bar seating or ordering to go.

It is one of the best slices you can get in Austin. But the bar isn't super high for pizza in this city IMO. :/

Will you have heart shaped pizzas?

Our pizzas won’t be heart shaped but they will all be made with love.

Can you get the white clam pizza by the slice?

Nope

Do you have vegan cheese?

Hi Morgan, Though we don't offer a dairy substitute, any pizza can be made without cheese. We recommend adding flavorful toppings like garlic, Kalamata olives and house roasted red peppers, for example, to make a delicious pie that will have you not…

Can they make half white/half red pies?

Hi, we are unable to do half red and half white pies, but we have slices of both. You can always get some Margherita slices with a medium red pie. We also have a white pie slice special every day except Friday (fried eggplant day). We wish we could…

Do all the pizzas have 3 cheeses on them? What about by the slice? (I prefer pizza with just mozarella is why I'm asking)

Hi Thomas, all our pizzas by the slice have at least 3 cheeses, Parmesan, Provolone, and Mozzarella. We are happy to make a whole pizza for you with Mozzarella only. Sorry to not have the slice option you are looking for.…

How long do "ASAP" online orders take (1 pizza)? Trying to plan ahead for parking..

Hi Tandis, ASAP orders take anywhere between 20 minutes and an hour and a half, depending on…

Do you have options with no added gluten? Thanks.

Hi Trish, Though we would love to offer a gluten free pizza one day, sadly, we haven't been able…

Can we bring our own wine?

Hi Kimberly, we do have a full menu of beers and wines, though you are welcome to bring in a bottle of wine of your own. There is a $10 corking fee per bottle. This is for South Congress only, outside beverages are not permitted at North Loop.…

Is their pizza sold by the slice? If so, what's the latest you can buy it that way? Or is it 24/7 until closing.

We always have at least.5 options by the slice. Every night until closing. Tonight til 11pm at either location. Thanks

How many slices comes in your medium and large pies?

In large, around 8.

Do they have vegan cheese? Apparently I'm lactose intolerant.

It is a very Hip Pizza joint. I would bet anything they have all diets covered.

Do they offer GF pizza?

When I was there a month ago they did not have a gluten free offering. However, Southside Flying Pizza in Austin has a pretty amazing gluten free crust made in house.

I have a party of 17 people in a few weeks (Friday night) looking for a pizza dinner. Will this be possible at this location?

We would love to host your party of 17. We could accommodate your party inside our dining room or outside on our covered back patio. Although we don't take reservations, if you can send a representative of your party about an hour before to check in…

Do they have high chairs for kids?

Yes!

Definitely adding this for places to try in Austin, and tell Aaron and the goldens about? They really dig the New York style pie

Fantabulous slices and Sicilian style on Mondays and Thursdays only!

Definitely adding this for places to try in Boston and tell Aaron and the goldens about?

Not in Boston, and I don't think it is a chain.

It's been amazing so see how far they have come! The owners, Sophie and Eric are genuinely the kindest and most hard working people I've met. The care and attention to detail they put in does not go unnoticed and is unmatched. The entire menu is incredible and every single dish is worth trying. The Kinda French quesadilla is probably one of the best things I've ever eaten in my entire life and the guacamousse sauce is You can't go wrong with any of the sandwiches either (the Poulet Roti Baguette and the Parisian are my personal faves ) and of course the traditional Rotisserie chicken- don't skip on those potatoes either- they are SO good and really tie everything together. I unfortunately don't live in Austin anymore so I don't get to visit them nearly as often as I'd like to, but I always recommend them to locals and anyone visiting- seriously some of the best food you'll ever have, and always served with so much love and care

The bread had good flavor, but it was a bit hard to chew. The chicken itself was okay, though it leaned a little dry. Because of that, I wasn't too tempted to try their rotisserie chicken meal, but I do like the concept and think that with some changes it would be a solid spot.

Not sure if all the burgers are always cooked well-done, but that's how ours were made (and was never asked if I wanted otherwise). Also ordered a side of fried plantains that came with a small cup of ketchup. They were harder than I was expecting, and not to salted. Next time I think I'd just order the fries. Waited at the window to order for several minutes while the guy took a phone call, then had a hard time hearing him take my order since he was still on his call and had his mask on (pandemic issues...and maybe this is where he asked how I wanted my burgers cooked?? Who knows, couldn't hear him!). Then it took awhile for the order to come out. By the time I got the food and back to our table, our friends had already purchased and eaten their food from other food trucks, so that was a bummer. Good option if you're in the food truck park. Just be prepared to spend time waiting to order and get your food. Tip: ask if you can have your burger cooked medium or medium rare. If you prefer it that way, of course.

They were one of the few food trucks in this area that was open during the daytime. The majority of the other options are open later at night when the bar scene is crowded. The bad: The brisket sandwich tasted mostly of just BBQ sauce and the brisket was cut up in small weird chunks. There was melted orange cheese on it that was also unappetizing. We didn't want the caramelized onions so we asked for raw onions but the cashier/cook didn't speak English so the most we could communicate was "no onions." Also, the payment machine was all in Spanish (for selecting tip, signature, etc) so you better brush up on your Spanish if you're paying by credit card! There were cigarette butts on the ground and on the tables and a homeless person hanging out at the benches as well. I ordered fries at first but they were sold out. The interesting: The sandwiches are open-faced.

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

Having enjoyed plenty of authentic Philly cheesesteaks over the years...many of them in Philadelphia itself...I approached this food truck with a healthy dose of skepticism. As soon as I arrived, I met Armand, who told me that he and his brother started the food truck about seven years ago. He was warm, personable, and genuinely Texas-friendly, which immediately set a positive tone for the experience. Ordering a cheesesteak is a simple three-step process: 1) Pick your cheese. 2) Choose your toppings. 3) Be polite and place your order. (I loved that part!) I ordered the cheesesteak with American cheese and grilled onions, along with a side of fries. Let me tell you...this sandwich completely exceeded my expectations! For a moment, I felt like I was back in Philly. The bread was soft, fresh, and flavorful. The steak was unbelievably tender and packed with flavor...so good that I couldn't stop talking about it. The portion size was generous enough for two people, so I ended up sharing half with the hubs. Needless to say, R&B's Steak and Fries turned this cheesesteak skeptic into a believer.
