Food is good. Price is great but the food presentation is much to be desired. It's almost as though they do it in a hurry to serve the food and don't care about how they present it to the customers. Too many tables in too little space and they have just a single water dispenser and you gotta fill it in plastic cups. Given the crowd you gotta wait a long time to fill just one cup of water. We used Honest to cater my wedding which was in a temple- the temple requirements included no onions and garlic,and some people had a nut allergy. I spoke with Bhumi, the owner, and she was able to make everything without these ingredients, and it tasted perfect and so good, even without those ingredients. Everyone in my family loved the food at the wedding so much that they all went to Honest the next day to eat again! We received many compliments on the food. Not only is the food good, but it was very easy to keep in touch with Bhumi. She was very responsive and reliable. She was even present at the wedding to ensure everything ran smoothly. If you are craving fresh, delish Indian food, you really need to head past all the other Indian food options on Hillcroft in the Gandhi district and get to Honest! I am blown away by the quality of the Masala Dosa. I'm not sure if cashews are usually in Masala but Honest puts them in and I just love them! We also had the Bahubali sandwich, which is a triple-decker sweet and savory taste explosion, the Punjab sampler, and the Purra dish. And don't forget the Mango Lassis! Everything is served relatively quickly even when the restaurant is very packed like it was last Saturday. It was much slower on a Wednesday evening on a previous visit. I have been going to this restaurant for a quite some time food used to be good that's why , I went again and again. Yesterday I went to the restaurant and ordered Punjabi thali , which I normally eat, the order was not correct they bypass one dish, when I asked about it to one of the employee that one dish is missing, he simply said we gave you all the dishes according to our menu, and he was vey rude. I know for sure there was a one dish missing because I ate Punjabi thali for more than three times, also the juice came with thali had no lid, it always came with the lid in past. This place is great! My parents wanted some chat so we came here and we ended up ordering almost everything on the menu. We were not disappointed! With such good reviews, we had to try this place out. It's honestly terrible. Just plain and simple rude staff and extremely dirty. There was food lying around all their tables and floors. Absolutely icky. The tables were sticky. We walk in, and there is a line to order all the way to the door. One of the staff members seem to be directing the traffic of the line. We go in and sit down and check the menu. 5 mins passes, No one comes by. I finally flag someone down and ask them to take our order and she says, you have to order at the counter. Great. Guess that was my mistake? As I past by the staff, she could have told me that before I took a seat, oh well. I get back in a much longer line. I order their famous dosa all starred up in their menu. Order takes quite a bit of time to come out. This has to be the worst dosa I have ever experienced. It didn't even have potatoes in it. It was cut up into little peices like a murdered burrito. A few sprinkled onions and God knows what's else was in it. Goodness! I had one bite and just left it. Never again. I think the food was mediocre at best for Houston Indian faire. The service and ambiance was non-existent for the price. I ordered the hot and sour soup and noodles which were subpar. The hot and sour soup tasted Frozen and reheated. The noodles were mushy and they had crappy soy sauce, hot sauce and no vinegar to augment the flavor. Although the food can be flavorful, cannot get past the spice level to actually taste the food. These guys clearly don't know what extremely mild and spice level "0" means. I would give this place a O rating in my books. We had arrived at a slower time in the afternoon a bit before the rush came. I had been warned by a fellow patron I knew and told me that I should be mindful to keep my receipt so I used Apple Pay to ensure that I would receive a text receipt(didn't really help in the end). The food came in at a reasonable time better than we had excepted. So when they delivered the food they were disoriented and unsure whose order was for whom and for what table. When it came to my order I never received my simple Mysore Masala Dosa(I waited almost 1.2 hours), then explained to the waitress that the my order was never received, she checked several times and said oh well we gave it you(bit shocked instead of filling my simple $7 our total check was $40 for a family of 3). So then before leaving my father in law went up to my manager and asked him politely, please explain what happened to his order and the manager said sir, "someone ate it already within your party (indicating we were lying about a $7 order)." A lot of the dishes taste just like the ones I would find at the Homest in ahmedabad. Love the indo Chinese dishes, the noodles, soup and fried rice cant match any others in the city. The Tawa pulav is also so good. My family is a fan of the pav bhaji and chaats too. read more

Surrounded by different Asian stores and restaurants, Honest restaurant stands out with its authentic Indian food that reminds me of the food back home. Close to four years ago I left India to complete my studies but quickly learned that living in America, it is difficult to produce the same taste and flavor of the food I had on a daily, but this restaurant really brings it all back at great prices. With no family to cook for me and being an amateur cook myself, my friend who has lived in Houston recommended I check out Hillcroft as it is the hub for Indian food. I tried the nearby restaurants only to be left unsatisfied and desperate for actual Indian food. On a whim, I walked into this establishment only to be met with Bollywood songs playing in the background and the aroma of Indian spices. My favorites would be the Pav Bhaji and Pani Puri. Spiced just right, these dishes are surely the best versions I have had since leaving India. The staff being South Asians added to the authenticity of the restaurant. Their knowledge of the cuisine and what changes I could make to it based on my personal preference made the entire experience more enjoyable. They also sell their own blend of masalas or spices which can then be used to make a variety of dishes. The environment of the restaurant overall reminds me of a quaint Mumbai hotel that I would frequent during my time there. I have recommended this establishment to my friends all over Texas with one of them travelling over 170 miles from Austin to Houston solely for this food. This restaurant is widely popular with people of all races in Houston and around the Texas area, more so with people of color due to the spice palette of Indian dishes. They cater to and conduct in house functions that I have attended as well. The owners, Bhumi and Dharmik are very attentive and quickly respond to feedback. They have a large variety of dishes with over 60 items on their menu, each of which I intend to and am excited to try. With Pav Bhaji and Pani Puri being my favorite street food dishes, my go to dinner order consists of their Pulao (spiced rice with vegetables) , Palak Paneer (cottage cheese with spinach), Masala papad (fried and crunchy chips with vegetables and seasoning) and Raita (spiced yogurt with cucumber and onion). No Indian dinner is complete without dessert and this restaurant has amazing options. Everything from regular Ice cream to the Indian version of ice cream -Kulfi. My personal favorite would be Rasmalai (cottage cheese balls in thick syrup or flavored milk). Overall, Honest is a truly Indian establishment from business side to cuisine and it will definitely leave you asking for more. Irrespective of where you come from, what ethnicity you belong to, food unites us all and if you can tolerate spice to a certain level, be sure to give this place a chance.
