I decided to check this place out because I don't often get the opportunity to dine alone and I wanted to try something new. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find parking (my Google maps was saying parking was difficult). Fortunately since it was the evening/weekend, I was able to find after hours parking in the lot. I opted for the buffet ($16.50 on the weekends). From what I can see from previous reviews, the price has been the same the last two years. The server I had was very attentive and there were a steady flow of customers coming in and out. I was looking forward to have some delicious/flavorful food and this was it. As a nonvegan, I still enjoyed the items at the buffet. I loved the eggplant, green beans, sesame balls, and salt and pepper tofu. I can't wait to come back next time and order something from the menu.

Came here for a random weeknight buffet dinner (right after working out at the LA fitness across the street). It's a cute, quiet spot that's not too large but feels very welcoming. Upon entering, staff welcomed us and were super nice and polite throughout our dinner. They checked on our water and helped us refill our cups and cleared dirty plates and asked how we found the food. Food itself was all great, I don't usually eat solely vegan food but it was such a welcome treat! I particularly loved the green beans, egg plant, and salt and pepper tofu. I kept going back for those three and would return for the same! They also had some dessert options and I really liked the sesame ball as well as the coconut fruit soup. The latter was very refreshing and was a nice, light dessert. This is definitely a lowkey spot but well worth the cost for the buffet. They also have food you can just order so if you aren't feeling super hungry, you can order what you want and they'll make it fresh for you!

I had an absolutely amazing time at Trendy Vegan! This place is truly a hidden gem in Houston. I honestly couldn't believe everything on the menu is vegan, every single thing I tried was so good. It's officially one of my new favorite spots to grab a bite. The prices are affordable, the atmosphere is super chill and relaxing, and the staff is incredibly kind and welcoming. I'll definitely be back. 10/10

Salt And Pepper Tofu. Tomato Slices and Spring Roll are my own; the dish comes with rice and tofu only. It comes with Soy, Sriracha sauces.

Although not a vegan at the moment, Trendy Vegan is one of the Inner Loop restaurants I do frequent the most. My significant other, who is vegan, really likes the Vegetable in Dry Pot Bento box. He loves it, actually. My favorite Trendy Vegan dish is actually the Salt and Pepper Tofu. Sometimes, the chef gets a bit heavy handed with the ground pepper, but it's still delicious. You can add soy and sriracha sauces to add more flavor but I also enjoy eating the tofu without the extra sauces. Ordering is always easy, and I usually just call it in while on the road. Service here is always good, and this is definitely one of my favorite go-to spots.

This place gives me a lot of peace when I visit - the gentle atmosphere, no-frills buffet, and friendly service are inviting and welcoming, and regardless whether I dine alone or with friends, I love staring out the glass windows to people watch. The buffet has most of the menu's greatest hits on it, including the sprightly green dan dan noodles, the well-seasoned salt-and-pepper tofu, and the veggie dry pot - I love mixing things side-by-side, creating new hybrid dishes that strengthen one another. The hot and sour soup has a characteristic peppery kick that makes it so addictive, and the coconut fruit cocktail makes for a light and sweet treat at the end of the meal. If you can't spare the time to chill at the restaurant, the takeaway bento boxes are a steal at $13.50 each, which come with an entrée of your choice, dan dan noodles, salad, and rice. Whether you're a plant-based diner or just looking to incorporate more fiber into your diet, Trendy Vegan is a lovely, family-owned choice that should make the top of your list. See you around!

Finally got to try the buffet here and I definitely recommend if you want to try the different options on the menu. They refill the items pretty regularly and they're super accommodating with dietary restrictions.

    4. Tokyo Salad sans edamame

Really enjoyed Trendy Vegan. We were literally just in the area trying to grab a bite and I wanted something lighter. Parking was crazy on Saturday evening! All the businesses have designated parking and there are multiple signs about being towed. So good luck if you go on a Saturday! Luckily one of the nearby businesses was closed so we found a spot. They have a buffet that looked pretty good but the bento box was more affordable and came with enough food for me. I had the Singapore noodles with tofu added and spring rolls. The noodles were delicious! Loved the curry flavor with tofu and veggies. The salad was also good. Very simple with maybe a ginger dressing? Really enjoyed my meal. The spring rolls were somewhat lacking thoug. It was mostly breading of the roll. My partner ordered the Tokly salad. It said it came with edamame, but they don't put that in the salad anymore. Seemed odd that it would be called "Tokyo" without that and they didn't offer anything in exchange for that and didn't really apologize. Also, he was still hungry after that so that is something to keep in mind. Overall, I would go back. The buffet looked delicious and there's other things I'd like to try!

Went the day before thanksgiving and so glad we did!! Everything is vegan and so delicious!! Loved the eggplant and Lamartin, fried rice too! The garlicky fried green beans were phenomenal! You can choose Ala Carter or buffet but buffet is only 16.95 per person for dinner!! so we all went with that and kids are about $8 each! Great deal! You still have good service with them clearing tables and filling water while you pick more from buffet, cute little restaurant with booth seating and take reservations as well. Delicious food , definitely recommend!

Food - I love the concept of vegetarian buffet all you can eat style with the variety of food provided. However, my experience there was pretty average. Personally think the dishes are not cooked up to the quality I expected. In addition, several of them also run on the drier side as they may have been sitting out for a while. Service - THE NICEST PEOPLE you'll meet! The waiter kept trying to check in and is very attentive to old customers. You can tell the lady owner is a kind attentive person to her returners. Vibes - clean modern casual. I mostly see non Asians enjoying the food. I may have higher expectations having had amazing vegetarian food in different parts of asia but I wish the food can be tailored towards Asians who love vegetarian food or are vegetarians as well!

Trendy vegan has a very earthy feeling to it. The wooden benches, the art on the wall, everything sets a vegan - plant friendly vibe. Something in the ambiance connects you to a simpler, more appealing time. For the first time I was looking at a buffet outside of Indian food, and with everything vegan, it couldn't get more inviting.... The buffet is priced at $16.50 per adult and $8.50 per child, but there is an ala cart menu too if you wish to eat something specific. The spread is pretty good, while most have the base in tofu, or soy or oats, the texture and the variety still captured my interest and the flavors gave them their individuality. It should be noted that the carbs in the form of steamed rice, or brown rice, or even noodles, come saltless , the salt content is obtained from the various side dishes. There was tofu nuggets, spring rolls, sautéed brinjal, stirred fried vegetables, roasted tofu etc., to name a few. It would have been helpful if they had put up little labels with names as reference. Enjoyed the food while listening to the soft incomprehensible Chinese music that was playing. It was soothing and added to the good food mood, which itself was light and healthy. Staff is very sweet especially if they know that you hold the wallet- jus kidding, limited staff but nice staff. Something on the menu but not part of the buffet is their smoothies, vegan thai tea and dumplings etc., which I definitely hope to try next time. There is definitely going to be a next time.

Had to drown the cabbage and noodles in soy sauce so there was some flavor.

I was really impressed by the packaging as they give a heat regulated thermal bag for the order. I appreciated that they have a number of non pork options as I don't eat pork. The chicken soup dumplings were flavorful though I'd have liked more soup. I put some red pepper flakes on top as there was no chili oil provided. The combo came with general tso's chicken and I opted for lo mein instead of fried rice. The dish as delicious but the chicken was dry. The combo also came with 2 thumb print pork dumplings which I didn't try and regular chicken dumplings which lacked a bit of flavor. There was also a spring roll which was just very greasy. It also came with egg drop or sweet and sour soup. I'm not a fan of either so I skipped it. All in all, great value and good but not amazing food.

5 Stars - Authentic Szechuan that absolutely nails the classics…read more During our short trip to Houston, as a custom, we were determined to find real Szechuan food, and luckily we found Hu's Kitchen. The location is a bit unassuming, and parking is definitely tough (the spaces are very shallow), but the second we walked through the doors and smelled the Szechuan peppercorns, I knew we were in exactly the right place. I generally judge a Szechuan restaurant by their 夫妻肺片 (Fuqi Feipian)--which they cleverly name "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" on the menu. They completely nailed it. The beef, tripe, and tendon were incredibly cohesive together, yet you could tell each component was prepared and marinated in a slightly different way to perfectly highlight its specific texture. The chili oil was right on the spot. We went through a massive bowl of rice just eating this dish alone. Honestly, if I weren't feeding a family of four, I could have just ordered that and been perfectly happy. While the Fuqi Feipian proves their skill with dry dishes, the 水煮魚片 (Fish in Szechuan Hot Chili Oil) proves their skill with wet ones. It's another must-order. The execution was flawless--we didn't just finish the tender fish chunks, we ate every last piece of cabbage soaked in that incredible chili broth. For my two daughters who can't handle the heat, we ordered the fried rice, garlic pork ribs with onion, and the 紅燒獅子頭 (Giant Meatball with Cabbage). The giant meatball was spectacular. The kids completely devoured it on their own, but I managed to steal a bite, and it instantly brought back childhood memories of exactly how this dish is supposed to taste. We also had the Dan Dan Noodles, which were great and rounded out the meal perfectly. I loved all of the dishes we tried. Should we ever find ourselves in Houston again, we will absolutely be revisiting this hidden gem.

No complaints here since we were starving from an 8 hour road trip. The Dan Dan Noodles...I had high expectations but sadly this dish fell short. I recommend Hu's Cooking to use a bigger bowl and more sauce because it was difficult to mix the noodles and the sauce wasn't...saucing, unfortunately. I wish there was more flavor in this dish. The Scallion Pancake was super over-fried and oily. See image in my review. The outer parts of the pancake were fried to a crisp and only a small circumference in the center stayed chewy. I know Chinese tends to be oily but this pancake soaked up way too much oil. Half a Peking duck: super great price for so much meat. The difficulty when eating this dish is gnawing the meat off the sharp bones of the duck. Mapo Tofu with white rice: pretty easy staple, no complaints here. Dinner on a Saturday was packed but we got seated quickly and food arrived fast.

It was a simple day out with my wife and daughter. We got Crab Rangoons as an appetizer. I ordered my usual Chinese dish Shrimp with Lobster Sauce. The outer layer was thick and crispy, the cream cheese delectable it had the perfect balance of sweetness and savory. I tasted my wife's wanton soup and it was fresh with a deep pork broth. The wontons had depth not just simple flavor, it was savory on a different level. She said her Sweet and Sour Pork was amazing so I had a piece or two and they were crispy and well cooked. The flavor burst in your mouth, the sweet and sour sauce was light and sweet not too heavy. Shrimp and Lobster Sauce is my go to order at every Chinese restaurant, I basically judge a place by this dish. Normally I would suggest other places after one visit but found myself drawn to the convenience of the menu and the friendly staff. So the menu is asian fusion for breakfast and lunch items in the form of tacos, nachos, quesadillas, rice bowls, salads, and some cocktails thrown in. As tempted as we were to do an adult beverage, we stuck with lunch items for professionalism. Some items we tried were the following: Tacos: Brisket: 8/10 Tofu Tikka Masala: 9/10 Tilapia: 6/10 Pulled Pork: 7/10 Salads: Mango and Kale: 8/10 Caesar: 7/10 Taco Salad w/ chicken: 9/10 Rice Bowls: BBQ Pork: 7/10 Other Items: Brussels Sprouts: 8/10 Chips and Guacomole: 5/10 Chips and Spicy Hummus: 7/10 Only item we didn't care for was the chips and guacamole. The guac is bland as it's just mainly mashed avocado w/ minimal seasoning and missing items such as red onion, cilantro, lime juice, etc. The chips however are wonderful and excellent for dipping which goes well with the hummus. Hummus has a kick; not the best but good for the price and comes out quickly. The rice bowls are filling and ok. The taco salad was probably the best item; very powerful southwest flavors and the chicken very tender. Now the tacos; the brisket and tofu tikka masala are both tasty; brisket is tender and the tofu tikka masala might make you forget it's tofu. Pulled pork was alright but messy. The tilapia is tender but also messy and the tortilla kept breaking apart due to the salsas and toppings. Need to make it stronger! The plaza is lucky to have this and when I have future assignments out this way, I'll be sure to stop back in and try their other items.
