We go here pretty often but the service is just awful. I know there are staffing issues all over but this place really tops everywhere else. They almost always forget something in our takout order and if your dining in it takes ages just to get another cup of coffee. They have this back room that's super loud and has no temperature control and in an almost empty resturant they sat us back there. It was us and a party of 15, some team was having a breakfast there. I couldnt hear anything but their echo l. When I asked if I could move to the main room they said no. We keep giving it a shot but i think were done. 3 stars because the food is alright read more

This was my first visit as I don't live in the area. I had to take my sister in for a surgical procedure in Lombard and after fasting for 12 hours, the first thing she wanted to do was eat. We stopped here. She had the french toast and I had the classic pancakes. We were both pleased with our choices. The one thing I would say is I think it's pricey for the offerings and location. Salads average about $13-15 and most of the breakfast offerings are $10 or more. I can eat cheaper downtown. read more

Went to this restaurant on Saturday for lunch and was seated quickly. Our waitress was quick to greet us and take our drink and food order. The food came out quick and was hot, but my wife had ordered a Monte Cristo and she had not read the description closely and saw a sandwich that was battered and fried in oil. Prior to Honey and Jam taking over this restaurant, it was served on French toast which my wife enjoyed much more. She will never order this sandwich again from here. The food is just okay but over-priced compared to my brunch favorite Red Apple, which seems to have fresher tasting and better prepared (baked) omlettes and eggs benedict. Its reasonable priced for the portion sizes and it's delicious. They are fairly quick with getting you taken care of and getting you a table no matter how busy they get. The Butterfield's located in Wheaton is a typical breakfast restaurant. They serve all the usual breakfast items such as scramblers, omelettes, waffles, and pancakes. The many times I have been there I have never received bad service or unsatisfactory food, however, I am inclined to say that this Butterfield's is nothing special. The food is good but not unique, the coffee is standard and the atmosphere is ordinary. In all, if you are looking for a good breakfast with a low wait time Butterfield's is your place. They are fast and the waiters never disappoint. But if you are looking for new, fun, and creative twists of traditional breakfast dishes then I would recommend going someplace else. I am happy to say that though the ownership of the restaurant has recently changed to becoming part of Honey Jam Cafe, the majority of the menu has stayed the same. The only thing noticeably different on the menu is the specials offered each season. This new difference is much appreciated because they add small twists to the very traditional menu. In the end, I would give this restaurant 4 out 5 stars because although the service, food, and atmosphere is satisfactory, they are not extraordinary. read more

I drove to this restaurant thinking they would have outdoor seating due to the pandemic, they did not so I left. An enclosed tent that is closed on all sides does not seem safe to me and is not outside dining. If you have a tent you should open all sides especially if it is nice out, so you can encourage proper air flow and make patrons feel more comfortable during this time. read more

This location is not the best Butterfield's in the group. I had a breakfast meeting set up with a customer and as usual, I expected normal breakfast service. Well, unfortunately the wait staff seeme completely lost. No water, no coffee, confused when I asked for a napkin. We placed our order for an omelet and the cheese grits and poached eggs bowl. After 25 minutes of not getting our food, in an empty restaurant I began to lose it. I asked the waitress and she said "we're busy and the kitchen is very busy" which is clearly the wrong thing to say. For some dumb reason, I waited an additional 15 minutes when 2 plates of steaming shite were brought to the stable. This food was so nasty that it was clearly dead and attempted to be revived via microwave. I wish I could aptly express how disgusting it was. We loudly complained to the manager and made a small scene. Yes, I'm THAT guy. We finally made our way over to the Naperville location which is head and shoulders above the Wheaton location. We have been customers for at least 10 years, coming with our family every Sunday. They were sold to new owners/new management a few months ago (Honey Jam?) Unfortunately after all of these years of great service we had a horrible experience yesterday 9/15/2019. Incredibly slow service, incomplete orders for our table and BROKEN GLASS found inside my food! We arrived around 11:15 and were there for 2 hours with incredibly slow service; food served to 2 out of 3 in our party, and a 5-10 minute wait for the rest of our party's food order! After eating 1/3 to 1/2 of my omelette I discovered a large glass shard - 1-1/2" long in my omelette! I alerted the waitress who offered to replace my order and offered no information as to how this occurred. Due to the amount of time we had already waited I asked only for 2 scrambled. I waited another 10-15 minutes without anyone coming over; did not ever receive the eggs they had offered; and was not approached by anyone from the management, kitchen or staff. We asked for a manager. Another 10 minutes - he never came to speak to us. We went back again asking for a manager. The staff said the manager, Jeff, was hiding in the kitchen and refused to come out. We had seen waiters and waitresses huddled with our waitress crying. The manager had refused to come out and had told her to deal with it. We know many of the waiters and waitresses, some of whom were now crying out of frustration and anger at how poorly this was handled. No one ever came to ask if I was okay or had consumed broken glass. An accident/incident report was never supplied. My order was never replaced. The management never apologized or offered to resolve this situation. In fact Jeff, was still cowering in the kitchen! We had been calm, and reasonable, but after more than 2 hours of this we stormed out. We spoke to longtime employee - hostess/manager who was shocked, but also offered no apology or attempted to resolve this situation. It is unbelievable to me how badly this safety situation was handled. The former owners and managers would never have allowed this to occur! Formal complaints will be filed for this horrible safety situation and horrible service. We will NEVER return to what has long been our family's favorite restaurant. Jeff should be fired immediately, and corporate should know about this situation. My wife and I had breakfast/lunch here today. It was OK. I had two eggs: scrambled, pancakes, bacon and hashbrowns. My wife had a bacon and cheese omelette, with a side of pancakes and hashbrowns. We also each had a latte and a mocha, both were alright. We did have about a 15 minute wait; but that is to be expected on a Sunday. What was odd is that they didn't have the breakfast combos that you would come to expect from a breakfast joint. Some examples of this are: The omelettes don't have the option of sausage to be added. The French toast, crepe and waffle dishes don't come with sides like meat or toast. You can add these sides for an extra charge; sausage or bacon are $3.25ish an item. Not a big deal, but I like a bit of everything with breakfast. The egg and omelette dishes do come with some regular side items. Overall it's an OK breakfast spot with a friendly staff. Of the breakfast spots in the area of Danada this one is probably the more pricey of them. It has a nice atmosphere. We will probably give it another try someday; I'd say at LEAST give it a try! read more

After the crazy 2020 year we all have had, White Eagle Auto body decided to do cater in breakfast for our employees. We were beyond amazed on how easy it was to order the food. The employees were thrilled when they seen the abundant amount of food that was brought in. Not only was the food amazing but this Christmas eve breakfast meal made the guys smile brighter then they have in a long time. It definitely made every ones year. I gave this place another shot. Food isn't consistent and many times has the items I ask not to have in it. Usually I throw it out and take the loss. Today I complained. They told me to bring my item back in (I was now outside my job) and that they "talked to the cook" and basically without saying so called me a liar. Now how did you talk to the cook about it when you just got on the phone? And this same issue has been happening. Over and over. Plus I order the same thing and the price is always different. Why? I have never left a review or used yelp. Service this poor needs to be post. Been there twice, same server Erica, horrible experience. She is extremely rude, and service was horrible, both times. She didn't care either. No attempt to correct or remove from the bill. Food she dropped on the floor Manager was just as rude. Talked over us and made a scene. The excuse, "sorry we are short staffed" is no excuse for rude behavior. I rather wait for what I ordered than argue with a rude server. The chocolate smooth tasted sour. When my granddaughter explained this to Erica, there was no apology, no offer to bring her something else. What Erica said to her: You can order something else, but not I'm not removing this from your bill. I tasted the smoothie and it was sour. The smoothie was left on the table, we ordered apple juice instead and Erica reiterated the smoothie will not be removed from our bill. Then our food arrived, Erica dropped 1/2 the tray, ok. that happens. Understood, and felt bad for her. We split what was not dropped and went on to pay our bill. We were charged the full order. I assumed they didn't have time to adjust the bill. WRONG. You wouldn't think this would be an argument, WRONG. I asked for the adjustment, this prompted the manager to explain to me that we actually received the full order?! What? WRONG AGAIN. We received 1 order of crepes, 1 order of kids chocolate chip pancakes. And I paid $45 Including the spoiled smoothie. Food is decent. Not worth the bs to get it though, or paying for what we didn't receive. Arguing with the manager to remove the food that was dropped by Erica? They need to check their carry out orders for accuracy. They forgot to include the pancakes with my order. When I called they said the pancakes are considered complimentary item so they can't help me. No they aren't, they are included as a side item on the menu. They suggested I could return to get them but it's not worth another trip while the rest of the meal gets soggy and cold. I just wish they could have apologized and offered a free side of pancakes next time. Also, the hash browns were undercooked and almost raw, not brown or crispy at all. I should note that I am dieting so I could not order what I would normally order. Sigh... We lunched during the noon hour and got seated right away. I thought our service was good too. My friend had her little one with her and the waitress was very sweet with him (but he's adorable so this was not a surprise) and one of the bus boys gave him a balloon...you know how kids love those balloons. They do have a "healthy options" section on the menu which consists of a couple of hashes (one veggie, one chicken) with poached eggs, oatmeal, fruit plates, etc. I wound up ordering a california chicken wrap...whole wheat tortilla, grilled chicken breast, avocado, lettuce tomato, easy cheese with a side of fruit. I 86'd the cole slaw & ranch dressing and asked for a side of balsamic vinaigrette. The portion was a good size and they gave me extra pickles - which I appreciated. I enjoyed my wrap but not nearly as much as I would have enjoyed my friend's lunch... She ordered a grilled cheese w/bacon which came with fries & coleslaw and also a cup of clam chowder. Met with 2 friends for brunch (more like lunch, but we wanted breakfast food!). Arrived at 12:23 on a Sunday. Was seated at 12:30, without reservations. Staff were friendly. Average brunch place (but comparatively better than other chains). They had some unique dishes, but I was feeling traditional that day. I ordered the corned beef skillet with eggs overeasy, and a side of pancakes. Portions were generous. Taste was good, not salty. Lots of corned beef and melted cheese. Pancakes were fluffy, like how it should be!:) Seating area was spacious. We were seated at the booths. Enough space between tables. We were there for a long while, and we did not feel rushed. Plenty of parking. Overall, a solid choice for brunch in the western suburbs. Nothing super special, but the service and quality of food deserve 4 stars. P.S. I have went to the Wheaton Honey Jam multiple times. Today one of the worst, no service and they don't actually care what you order. I order the same thing as I do each time a wrap that lists on their menu as romaine lettuce in the wrap. I do not eat ice burg lettuce. Every time the give it to me with iceberg. I usually ask kindly they note it as I want romaine but I'm only asking them to give me what they list and we'll done firs. I got limp fries and iceberg. I ask if they could give me romaine and I'd pick out the iceberg. Without a word the what appeared to be a manager delivering took it back and grabbed a menu. Wed ask for ketchup and he took his sweet time talking with the hostess while we waited. Our waitress brought me the new food. Without a word say it down and walked away. She never returned. I had to get up and interrupt the waitress, cashier and manager type chatting in the restaurant. We got boxes and she took our check on an electric on device. I said no tip. I try to leave a tip in cash. I realized I only had a $20 so I ask for change. No singles so instead of an $8 top which would have been 20% I left a $5. No way was the service worthy anything isn't tips supposed to be for service. Where was mine today? I was not rude or unkind. My only expectation is provide me with what you've put on the menu and check to see if I need more tea and say have a nice day. None of those boxes were checked. I'm done with Honey Jam. I hate to rain on the party that is the positive reviews of Butterfield's, but the service broke down on two of three key components of the meal today. Lunch with the P's: We start with the food. Good all around. All of our dishes were a bit odd in that my scramble only came with *a* piece of french toast, mom's crabcakes benedict came on english muffins and with hashbrowns (lotta carbs) and dad's southwest scramble came with red beans and rice, more often reserved for Louisiana-style cooking. Whatever, the food was good. 4 Stars. Service, however, left much to be desired. Started off alright; order was taken, food was delivered promptly. Drinks took a bit long to be refilled, and they all needed refilling. About halfway through our meal, dad asked for a side of toast, which was also delivered promptly by our server, but then we never saw him again. Ever. Drinks again went empty. Empty plates remained on our table for like 20 minutes. Where before there were busboys picking them up all around us, now there was nobody. Finally, we all just went to the front counter to ask for the check, since we still couldn't find our server. When the gentleman at the front asked how everything was, mom commented on how the food was good, but the service wasn't "all that", as she so hiply likes to say. The man up front didn't offer an apology, didn't try to find out who our server was, and didn't try to correct the problem. I've read other reviews on how their server had also disappeared, so it seems like it's not an isolated incident. Mom left the tip and it pained me to watch her drop 12%, as she is a career server and we all know that people have their days. It was my idea to head out here for breakfast since I enjoyed the first time i came here, but it'll be a toss-up whether we return. read more

My girlfriend didn't even eat 25% of her food and I didn't finish mine either. when I brought it to the waiters attention he went to get the floor manager Jennifer and she looked at me as if I was lying to her trying to get out of a bill So she only wanted to take off 25% of the bill mind uo we didn't even eat 25% of our meals. I have lived in this area for years and heard lots about this place and how great it is. Positives: Orange juice is amazing. I had two glasses. The food is fantastic and fresh. Very original menu with taste that truly delivers. The food has to be what keeps people coming back because I don't see how anything else possibly can. I met my dining companions late and as I arrived she was dropping off drinks and coffee. She never asked me what I wanted to drink as I sat down. We ordered our food almost right away. We waited nearly a half hour for our food to arrive. Other tables who arrived after us received their food before we did. After getting my Nutella french toast the waitress came by and asked if there was anything wrong with our food. I showed her the hair and she didn't even make a comment! She didn't make any attempt to fix the situation. Didn't even apologize. We were done eating for at least 10 minutes before she brought the check. We arrived at 9:30, it was 10:20 when we got our food. 11 by the time we paid. Of course I needed to use the bathroom before I left. Not pleasant at all. It is freezing in there! Papers towels everywhere. With what they charge for food they can afford to Stock the bathroom. The entire restaurant itself was very drafty and I was freezing the entire time I was there. We go to Butterfields almost every weekend for breakfast. By "we" I mean me, my picky brother, and my picky sister in law. The picky ones usually have a special order, and Butterfields always gets it right. That makes it pretty good in my opinion. The food isn't great, but it's not bad. I usually have eggs and they are always cooked perfectly. My brother usually has pancakes and really likes them. The staff is just ok, nothing special. It's amazing to me how cold the restaurant is in the winter, it would be nice if you didn't have to wear your coat while eating. I'd add another star for that. read more

This local favorite is one of the best pancake houses around - right up there with Walker Bros. I've been hooked on their fluffy pancakes and gianormous skillets filled with succulent morsels of breakfast meats, tender chunks of potatoes, and a super thick layer of gooey cheese. All their OJ is freshly squeezed and absolutely delicious. The staff is very friendly and service is fast. Even though the place is fairly big, it's always packed. I'm not sure if they do reservations but the food is absolutely worth the wait. The only set back with this place is you'll probably walk out a good 3-4lbs heavier than you walked in. P.S. I'm a wheaton north sider, but I've ventured to Butterfield's a few times, and honestly, it's nothing special. I'm not a big juice guy, and apparently that is a money maker for this place. Oh well. The Menu is fairly diverse. I ordered an egg beater omelette with some veggies, and well as a side of the multigrain cakes. Food was probably 4 star, to be honest. The thing that has hurt butterfields in my most recent visits is the poor service. I try to be as nice as I can to servers, they have a very tough job. But not checking on a table for 5 minutes at a time... come on! The restaurant is actually very nice inside as well. I could see myself visiting again, but I think there are much better options closer to my neck of the woods. Red Apple in Carol Stream and Egglectic in Downtown Wheaton are my picks! read more

Butterfield's Pancake House is my all time favorite breakfast stop when I'm visiting my parents in Naperville. There's actually a location on Naper Blvd closer to their place but I like this location better because it's larger, seats many more, and therefore has shorter wait times. The fresh squeezed oj is great. From their array of pancake selection, I like the banana pancakes the most. The batter has bananas mixed in already and more bananas slices are added on top of the pancakes. I've also had their eggs benedict and strawberry belgian waffle. Also, very good. My boyfriend has had a couple of their skillets and scramblers. We haven't found anything on the menu we didn't like! The best part is the pricing is not bad either! My whole family loves Butterfield's Pancake House. My mom comes here just about every sunday with her friends after a morning walk and brings home pancakes for my sister. It's really rare for me not to eat at Butterfield's when I'm in Naperville. When I pay a visit to my parents, I also pay a visit to Butterfield's. read more

The hubby and I lived in an apartment right across from Egg Harbor in Danada (which now has a different name). Funny thing is that we never made it to Egg Harbor. We always made it to Butterfields. Whenever we ate at Butterfields, it was always on a Sunday. Once in a while we made it in before the church going crowd came for their post service meals. Regardless as to whether or not your wait for a table exceeds more than 30 minutes, it's totally worth it. I always order something new just to test them and make sure their menu is consistently yummy. I've had the most basic breakfast there - eggs sunny side up with bacon and toast. Then I went all out with their banana and pecan pancakes. There's something for everyone on the menu. Either way, you're going to have a fantastic breakfast. Did I mention they have a this really cool contraption that makes the fresh squeezed orange juice? Besides the oh-so-yummy breakfast, the atmosphere is great. No matter how packed it gets, the attention you receive from the waitstaff is fantastic. Everyone is so friendly there and very accommodating. I love breakfast. It's the one meal I can eat three times a day and never get sick of it. Too bad Butterfields isn't open past 2pm because I would be going on there to have a nice plate of scrambled eggs for dinner. read more

We had a lovely late breakfast at Butterfield's on a Saturday morning. The place was still packed at 11 am, but is quite large, so we were seated quickly. Our server was excellent- 5 stars for her for sure- she kept our water jug & pop refilled, checked in exactly the right amount about ordering and food, and explained the checkout process before she left our table. I had the blueberry crepes- they were a bit too sweet for me due to the filling (blueberry compote not fresh blueberries which was on the menu)- but the crepes themselves were cooked perfectly. If I come back (not close to home) I will definitely try a savory crepe. We also ordered sides of bacon and sausage- they were expensive just like every breakfast restaurant- but here a side was a significantly larger portion than most places. If I lived in the Wheaton area I would definitely frequent this location- it was delicious, speedy, and had great service. read more
