Honey Jam was always a brunch place on our list to try. However, the overall experience has left much to desire. Walking in, you have your usual brunch restaurant decor: open, inviting, breezy big room with yellow top tables. Family oriented atmosphere with parents and kids eating out. On the menu, there is an impressive assortment of skillets, omelettes, and typical American breakfast fare including hash, eggs Benedict, country fried steak, chicken and waffles. They also have a lunch menu with sandwiches available. Beverage menu included cocktails and many other specialty choices. However, despite all the menu options the execution was lacking. Our drinks came first. We got the horchata latte and it was very watered down. The cinnamon flavor was absent and the rice water was very artificial. The fresh squeezed orange juice was extremely diluted, it was basically 75% water mixed in with OJ. Although the drinks were underwhelming, the entrees were fairly strong. The country fried steak was very crispy along with the tater tots. The biscuit and pancakes however were artificial tasting and dry. The corned hash skillet was good, but lacked any crunch, texture was very mushy overall. Service was very quick and attentive. Our server frequently checked in on us and was very accommodating. Overall, the experience was a bit disappointing since the entrees and service were pretty good but marred by the lackluster drinks and sides. If you're in the area, I'd recommend for a try but would not go out my way to eat here. read more

I had stopped comint to this establishment yeas ago because of the food and the service but my parttner wanted to try it out again. Maybe things had improved since my last visit. The parking lot looked full and that is a good sign. Unfortunately I found out that it is still the morrible place to eat at that I remembered. Both the food and the service were sub-standard on my last visit today. My party of 3 was seated in a corner booth next to a utility closet and was facing a wall on two sides. I complained and was seated at a table instead. When the food came there was no salt on my omelette so I attempted to use the pepper-mill style salt shaker and it dumped way too much salt on my food. The pancakes look OK on the outside but the middle was bread-like and underdone. The waiter brought the check and came back while I was still eating and wanted me to pay right then. He actually took my credit card out of my hand and inserted it into his payment device without my permission while I was still eating. I will never eat there again. read more

Had brunch at Honey Jam yesterday. We were pleasantly surprised to not have to wait for a table. I had the avocado toast; it was delicious. Met my friend for a breakfast on a weekday morning and it was pretty packed surprisingly!The coffee was great and it was waterpressed decaf coffee. We had tres leches French toast, which was amazing! The whipped cream and the texture of the French toast was delicious. We also had the biscuits, which were too big and dry for my taste. The last dish we ordered was the Chilaquiles, and that was also pretty good but needed some extra cheese. The only annoying part was that the server took my credit card and charged us at the table and I had to pick the amount that I'm tipping in front of her. I like to calculate my tip based on the subtotal and not the taxed amount and I couldn't do that. Maybe the server could have left the machine at the table so it wouldn't be awkward while calculating tip. Lastly, the dishes are around 15 dollars and the portions are not huge. read more

Came here because we figured that there wouldn't be a long wait and we were seated within 10 minutes of arriving. Our server was friendly and helpful. The ambiance was your average cafe/restaurant. It's not a huge place by any means but you could bring a decent group of maybe 6-8 people. Now for the food and drinks. We both ordered mimosas which were decent. I wasn't really wowed. I ordered the Mexican omelette and the other person ordered the Denver omelette. The best part of the meal for me was the toast and hash browns. There were way too many jalapeños in the omelette I had and even adding salt and pepper, it didn't have any flavor. If I decide to visit again, I'll try something else. read more

I enjoyed this place so I'm coming back for a second time this time I'm alone and I'm gonna try something different. I was in the Oakbrook area and I had a taste for French toast, so I came here to try their French toast. I ordered the French toast combo with my eggs over medium bacon, crispy, and a side of grits . There is free parking in the front and it's located in Oakbrook on Midwest Road. Today my waiter is Vernardo, he was attentive, got my order correct and didn't forget any of my asks. It's quite crowded today verses last time it was kinda empty. My food was delicious!! I'm too embarrassed to show you what my plate looked like afterward, but everything was gone. The food wasn't too much. It was very filling. Overall, they have a pretty solid breakfast! I came on a Saturday morning and the establishment was fairly crowded, but I was seated within about 5 mins. The tables inside are kind of cramped together which I wasn't the biggest fan of, but we still had room to put all our plates nonetheless. I ordered the breakfast burrito which was super filling and well-cooked egg. My waiter seemed to be in a bit of a rush to get us out of there maybe because the place was busy. First off, the food was delicious and the host was friendly as can be. This is about our server. I believe his name was Luis. He seemed like a terrific server until 30 minutes into our breakfast. I was still working on my plate and he asked if he could take it away. I said not yet. Five minutes later, he drops off the check. We pay and tip 25 percent. After that, EVERY FIVE MINUTES OR LESS, he was "checking on us". We were there after attending a memorial Mass for our friend's father who just passed away at the start of the month. It was a Sunday morning and there were still open tables in his section. We spent one hour there, and we felt rushed out the door. I don't think one hour is an unreasonable amount of time. The food was terrific but they definitely seem more interested in turning tables over more than anything else. No thanks. It made a difficult day exponentially worse. Such a shame. read more

The restaurant has a large menu which was a pleasant surprise. The food was slightly upscale diner food and I really enjoyed the monkey bread (but order it as soon as you sit because it takes about 25 min to cook). It's been a while since I been here. This used to be called Butterfield's but Honey Jam bought them out. They have a lot of great things in the menu, however one thing remains the same from Butterfield's and it is a classic. Quite frankly, the best pancakes I have ever eaten can be found here. I don't know what they do, the flavor is just different and flavor explodes off my taste buds. A stack of 5 cakes and a cup of coffee and you are set for the next few hours . A perfect spot for a business meeting, getting together with family or catching up with old friends. Service is quick and prompt. read more

This place used to be called butterfield pancake house, not sure what changed. Looks the same on the inside. Packed on a Sunday morning, but relatively quick turnover. We were seated within 15 min. The place is one big room with tables a few inches from each other, just jammed in there. It is very loud as you can imagine. The service is slow, we waited about an hour for our food of 5 main dishes. I think they just forgot about us, because a table close by was seated after we put our order in and they ate before we got our food. The food was ok, very much diner breakfast, nothing special, but decent. It was nice but chaotic, I don't think I would come back. read more

The food (which was pretty much standard diner faire) was pretty uniformly overcooked. The service was spotty. I love a lot of coffee in places like this and coffee service was a huge failure. I saw other diners looking forlornly at their empty coffee cups. Our party of four at meals served in an odd and incomplete order. Didn't think the food was that great especially for the price. The place was packed so I thought well the food must be good. Everyone at my table ordered food at the same time but only one of us got it while the other 2 waited an extra 30 minutes and when we did finally hunt down our waitress to see what the hold up was she brought cold food and the worst item was the cold hard pancakes. We sent it back and had to wait for more food to be cooked and when we got that it seemed like they rushed cooked that. The shareable doughnuts were good and the coffee but I didn't enjoy any of my other breakfast. This all may have been because it was the day after Christmas and busy more than usual but I don't think I will try them again for breakfast. read more

I have been going to the previously owner Butterfield's breakfast restaurant for years. I have ordered food from the the new owners restaurant Honey Jam on several occasions. Clearly the food is not as good as before and at times it is terrible. I ordered food today for pick up. The food was tasteless and not hot. Clearly it had not been freshly cooked. The skillet was only luke warm and the pancakes were cold and chewey as if they had been re-prepared. Over all I think the service was fair but slow. Noteworthy is the fact that this breakfast restaurant was not as busy as previously noted. This, I think is a testament to the food being not so good. read more
