The best Vietnamese coffee I've ever had. A neighborhood joint. This spot is the bee's knees. Get it!?

Absolutely horrible service. Paid 11 dollars for a Vietnamese coffee and a Bagel was overcharged for a plain bagel. 4 dollars for a single bagel that wasn't listed on the menu and a coffee that the took ten minutes to start and once I told them I was late for work they threw it away in the 6 minutes is took for me to come back. Then the girl from the back had a very short attitude with me, tried to give me the wrong change and didn't want to process my refund. I want an explanation and apology. I will go out my way to make sure all the customer in the local area know how poor your service is. read more

Awesome customer service! Only four stars because I didn't even get to enjoy my açaí bowl. I rode my bike down to pick it up and on the way home, the bowl fell through the bag and splattered all over the road. Lesson learned. I'll still go back for another one, I just won't ride my bike. read more

First time being here I had the Italian sandwich and jasmine milk tea. The sandwich is delicious and addictive. The bread is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I have to say it's one of the best tasting sandwich I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. Mix Banh mi bread with western delis, genius. Jasmine milk tea is on point, the order took a little long but give it there was 3 or 4 orders ahead of me and only 2 employees working. My wife and I have ordered here for a while now. I LOVE their nutella chocolate and strawberry croissant! My wife loves their lox and bagel and iced coffee, but she feels over time they've been skimping on the lox more and more. She has tried other place so she can get more lox for her money. Whenever I'm in the area Honeybees is a must! The sandwiches and drinks are soooo delicious.. on top of that, its a convenient store ALL IN ONE. So far, I've tried the tuna melt, grilled cheese lobster sandwich, chicken pesto and clam chowder... absolutely delicious!!! Fantastic coffee, great selection of craft beer, and sandwiches. The young female barista with dark hair working was super friendly and cheerful. Honeybee's is a spacious coffee shop, with plenty of seating and natural light. Their menu is reasonably priced and has a good variety of breakfast and lunch options. My iced Americano was fantastic-perfectly made, with rich strong espresso flavors and subtle floral notes. They have both almond and soy for non-dairy milks. I was slightly disappointed that Honeybee's only had one vegan food option-a peanut butter banana bagel. It was simple but delicious, and a solid portion for the price. I was having some major pregnancy cravings for a tuna melt. Since I can only have tuna once a week, it's extremely important that I choose the VERY best sandwich out there. Of course I went to good 'old trusty YELP for some suggestions and Honeybee's came up. Hubby and I went for our first time and were VERY impressed. Such a cute shop in cutesy Belmont Heights neighborhood. I ordered a tuna melt and hubby got crab grilled cheese and pastrami. Fresh sandwich with tasty ingredients. It totally hit the spot for me. The tuna was not dry, had onion and tomato. It was the perfect balance of ingredients. My husband's sandwiches disappeared and he told me they were FANTASTIC. (This is from a person who is not easily impressed-I take that as a compliment ;)). My unsweetened black iced tea was even great. Fresh brewed with a perfect ice to tea ratio. They didn't try to fill up my whole cup with ice like some places. I also ordered tomato basil soup and it was great! We were pretty disappointed with the food, though the service was good and the establishment itself is pretty cool.

From the moment we entered Honeybee's a sudden feeling of warmth and peace overcame me. When I approached the counter I was promptly greeted by the barista. I ordered a boba taro and my partner ordered a flat white latte. We waited no longer than 2 minutes before our drinks were ready. We picked them up from the counter and proceeded to enjoy our beverages on the couch. Both drinks were revolutionary and iconic. Awe inspiring and groundbreaking. Honeybee's is truly ahead of its time. Unmatched in taste and overall quality of products. Honeybee's will be my forever coffee shop until the earth stops spinning. read more

So I really wanted to love this place. I love small businesses. It's a really cute store/deli. I ordered food online and drinks when I got there. The staff is friendly and the sell lotto. Definitely ample seating. Italian Sandwich - Was just ok. I didn't know they put jalapeño's in it. That took it down a notch for me plus the fact that the meat didn't really taste like anything. Maybe it needed more salami. The bread was good tho and the sandwich is big enough to share. Clam Chowder - Whatever. It wasn't good and it wasn't horrible. Very bland and the crackers were stale. Tomato Bisque - OMG. DISGUSTING. It was so thick that I swore I tool a sip of pizza sauce. It was thicker than pizza sauce. Horrible. I added a little milk to try and thin it out but nope. Complete fail. Mocha - Actually a strong point. Even tho the medium is super big it was really good. Wasnt too milky or chocolatey. Latte - This was good too. Based on Yelp reviews and how cute this place looked, I decided to give the coffee a try, so I set out for it on my Saturday morning walk. A downside, right at the outset, is how late it opens. I have usually had my two cups of coffee before this place is even open: 8:30. Offsetting this is the great flat white coffee I had for a better price than Starbucks. I walked down Broadway before I turned up Loma, and passed coffee shops that were busy and bustling with coffee and breakfast business. Honeybee's was empty, but for the lone customer at the counter before me. We both left, choosing not to drink our coffee in the blazing hot sun pouring in the front and side windows. I'm told that blinds are coming. And that the A/C was on. Still, the wide open front door and the sun beating down on the place overcame it. It was hot in there. So, there are some downsides. Places that sell coffee need to be open when people want to drink it. Like from 6:00 am. They also need to make the temperature comfortable. It's a new business and I was told they are doing better lunch business at this point, but I think they could do a good morning business if they corrected these failings. Good coffee, nice environment, location and menu offerings and oh, yeah, I had a good blueberry muffin. I'll check back in future and upgrade the rating if the hours and temperature improve. read more

Passed this place while riding the lime scooters and decided to stop in for a cold drink. They have a new sandwich on the menu which we tried. The chipotle chicken was good but simple. Lots of sauce, not a whole lot of meat or filling. We also ordered the ice americano and original mil tea. Coffee was delicious. Strong and bold americano and the milk tea was made with the perfect sweetness. Although the milk tea was good I'd order without ice or less ice next time because I got 15% tea and 85% ice which was super disappointing as it is $4.75 for the milk tea. When I went to honeybees it was extremely busy. However, despite the rush hour the workers were on top of their game and provided amazing service. It did take about 5-15 minutes for my order, but the workers were all under pressure by an extraordinary number of customers so it's given my order and other peoples orders may have taken a bit of time. In addition my order came out perfect and it's no need to pressure the workers to rush orders since they're under a lot of pressure but still perform amazing at their job. I travel far out of my way to study at Honeybees. The atmosphere is so calm and cool, the neighborhood is adorable, and the owners are so nice. Did I forget to mention how delectable the sandwiches are? Best sandwiches in socal in my opinion! You bet I make sure to stay here from breakfast (bagels and croissants), to lunch to get the best of both worlds. They have amazing Chai tea that can't be beat, also. This is the second best chai in LA, the better one at a small cafe in Marina Del this one Is the thick, sweet, lightly spicy kind. The other is the chocolate kind. A new sandwich place in town? AND it has beer? These are the good things in life. The space is bright and vibrant with plenty of couches and chairs. The coffee and tea selections seem extensive, and the sandwich options well curated. I came in around 11:45 on a Wednesday, and there were only a few people in there. Ordered a turkey with cheddar and no olives. Delicious. Bread was crisp and the fixins were good. The pictures are a little outdated. The beer is all now in coolers, and they have a selection of non-alcoholic chilled beverages. Of course, I suppose I'm not helping by not uploading a picture. Oh well Total for the sandwich, a Topo Chico, and tip came out to just under $10. SOLD. The only thing that would make the place better is if you could drink beer on the premises. I've been here several times and they never disappoint. They have an extensive drink selection but I usually stick to my favorite - the honey almond milk tea (with almond milk)! Their lemonade is also yummy and refreshing. My family loves their taro milk tea. For food, I've only gotten their turkey and cheese sandwich (with all my fave veggies and condiments) on a toasted baguette and I've always left feeling full and satisfied. I love that they have a large selection of alcohol, including pineapple cider! It's always convenient to grab some (alcoholic) drinks and chips to snack on later.
