My mom came into town to visit and we decided to do a quick target run for some things for my apartment. My mom absolutely loved using the screens to select her options. She opted for the honeybowl and loved choosing different fruit and even the type of honey she wanted on the bowl. I worked at an orchard for 10 years and tend to be picky about my fruits and vegetables and this place nailed it. Even the prices were reasonable. One of my favorite finds in Pittsburgh is this fresh mixed salad and stir fry place, where you can choose their ready mixed salads or create your own. The greens always tasted fresh and crispy, the toppings were unique and obviously seasonal. I liked that you could add in udon and tofu and all sorts of interesting toppings to vary the proteins and flavors. Also, huge points to the manager who was on duty one evening - a slender young woman who was obviously proud of her establishment, and happy to walk me through the ordering process. She seemed really invested in the success of the place. Finally, that lemon walnut dressing is causing me problems because I can't get it now that I've left Pittsburgh. I hope they thrive! I have been to this establishment several times. It's a cute stir-fry spot in East Liberty with a yogurt bar. The price point is between 9 and 11 bucks for an entree and about 4 to 7 bucks for the desserts and the cold pressed juice. The thing I like the most about this place are the options they have for customizing your meal. I always opt for an egg white noodle and add spinach to the sesame stir fry (lighter on the stomach). I used to love this place but it seems the cooks have all been replaced and the recipe has taken a complete redo because the dish that I get routinely has changed now for the past 2 weeks. My husband got very sick from the garlic sauce, I'm eating mine now I tried to have it on the side but it's extremely salty now and there must be a different seasoning added in because it's making me puke Just be aware that your not alone if you think it taste different. It's changed and it's no longer what I will be consuming twice a week when I'm in east liberty area. I DID enjoy honeygrow for a long time until now. Whatever they changed- they need to re-evaluate the ingredients. I built a make your own stir fry with veggies, brown rice, and shrimp with a house made soy sauce! The staff was so nice and accommodating! You order at touch screens, which I really liked because I had a bit of time to think about/change my order without feeling like I was inconveniencing someone. Overall, my experience here has been great! The staff has always greeted me upon entering, their menu ordering is fairly simple to use, and I've enjoyed everything I've gotten there! My only complaint (besides the horrible parking which isn't their fault!) is that the menu is not kid friendly! I have a toddler and there's really nothing available on their menu that works for a typical toddler palate. I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but if I am, it's not well advertised. Wow is all I have to say. Service was prompt and courteous. Parking is a tad sketchy with construction but I got lucky. You order and pay at the counter on an iPad. Pretty detailed sample pictures to make it easy. I choose to make my own stir fry with egg noodles, chicken broccoli peppers, onions and a little heat. Delish!!! This is my new favorite place to get healthy food. The design is clean and minimalist, with a few goodies: 1. The ordering kiosks are awesome! Often, I get the same thing at a restaurant because I don't want to ask a bunch of questions about the menu and possible substitutions. Also, this eliminates the common restaurant sin of cooks touching money, then touching food. 2. The message board that lets you know when your order is done has a soothing retro noise and the letter and numbers shuffle. The first time I went here, I was craving a salad. I didn't want the pitiful portion size at panera and I also didn't want to get carried away and make a $20 salad at whole foods. I was able to customize the salad to my liking and was shocked at how big it was. For $9, I had a meal and a snack for later. The second time I came here, I got the red curry tofu noodles. It was very good, but not as spicy as I would have liked. I finished the whole serving in one sitting, but was uncomfortably full afterward. I also tried the fruit cup (strawberries, bananas, and grapes with chocolate chips, clover honey, and whipped cream. The fruit cup was tasty, but for $6, I would have been better off buying the mixed berry cup at whole foods down the street. How have I lived this long without knowing about this place! Aaron the manager was very nice and informative. I was blown away by the wide variety of fresh options. I can also take everybody here. Vegans vegetarians gluten free and carnivores. I crave vegetables and vegetable heavy options. These are very few and far between and I am so grateful to have had this option. My friend and I each got an order off the stirfry menu and shared them and also got a honey bar which was a much better decision then the chocolate or ice cream store next-door and twice as delicious. Most of their flatware is compostable and their napkins seem to be recycled.
