This place blew me AWAY! The hot honey that is incorporated into many of the entrées and sides is worth the hype! The Honeymoon Chicken bucket is a MUST - perfectly fried, seasoned...and that hot honey drizzle on top is to die for! And I didn't even consider myself a fan of fried chicken! The Honey Butter rolls are god-tiered, the flaky salt mixed with the butter and on the softest roll! The Jumbo Crispy Chicken Tenders have no complaints here - nice and big with a lot of flavor (dip them in the cilantro sauce)! I also thoroughly enjoyed the Sesame Honey Buffalo Wings, cooked nice and crispy with a great flavor! The Mac & Cheese and Honey Dipped Sprouts also served as the perfect sides! I really wanted to like this place. After seeing a vital tik tok, we thought this was going to be our next hot spot, but no. Upon entrance the space is extremely limited, do not expect to sit a group of more than 4 (and that might be pushing it). I'm a thick girl and the booth wasn't really big enough for me and my homeboy who is very skinny. If I moved to fast, I'd shake the table. Next, you have to order from your phone but the waiting staff literally circles your tables, and don't offer water or anything. Once they brought my food, we had to ask for silverware because none was brought with the food. I had the Honey moon chicken sandwich with a side kale salad and wedges. The sandwich was just okay, but the kale salad was gritty like the kale needed to be washed. They just slapped the pickled onions on there and I did not get tomatoes. My wedges were cold, but I don't believe those are cooked to order but rather from their hot food/heat lamp area. Their rolls are really good. The drinks we're mediocre, we had Tokyo teas (they put more Midori in them than anything else). And they are NOT served in glasses but in takeout cups similar to children's drink cups. We also had the ice cream. I thought we would be getting a drum stick like the picture we seen, but it was more like a chicken breast. 5/10 for me. And that's strictly for effort, area, and parking. I have been in recovery from a major surgery, so we Doordashed Honeymoon Chicken. Two sandwiches (Hot Honey dipped & one regular), a 3-piece and a 4-piece chicken meal, and a large side of mac & cheese. I'd say that overall this hit the spot -- we need to come back to eat in person. I'll start with the ambiance: I thought the restaurant was cozy, but not very spacious. The booths felt a bit cramped but I'm also fairly tall so can't blame the restaurant for that. One thing that is a turn off for me is seeing all the food premade, reminds me of a Popeyes and makes me wonder how fresh it actually is. Now to the food, as stated the food seems to be premade. I think the price point is reasonable, but the quality was extremely inconsistent. My sandwich was fine although for a Buffalo chicken sandwich I've had spicier sandwiches from chic fil a which isn't saying much. The girl I was with had chicken bites and they were incredibly dry - which I checked after our meal and it is consistent with other customers experiences. Honestly I could tell they were overcooked just by looking at chicken bites; they were just too dark to be properly cooked. And now the service, or lack there of. Apart from pointing at a booth, giving water and bringing our food there was nothing else added. I kid you not not a single word was said,, no " hey welcome in have you dined here before?", no opportunity to ask for reccomendations, no one checked on us during the meal, asked if we needed more water, really just nothing but what seemed to be the bare minimum. I understand this is not meant to be a upscale restaurant but it would be nice to be recognized as a paying customer and not a inconvenience to the staff. So excited about this new spot! The inside is casual and diner-esque. I went solo and sat at the counter. I really enjoyed the hot honey dipped chicken sandwich, although I wish it was spicier. My Honey and I visited this cute little spot yesterday (Saturday) around 6 PM. When we walked in, it was clearly busy as all tables were full and the line was almost out of the door. The inside gives old-school, diner vibes, with bar seating and booths lining the wall and walkway. The tiny hostess stand in the front was overwhelmed by waiting patrons for dine-in availability and pickup orders. A good thing, right? Once we arrived at the stand to order, we were advised that there would be a 30 minute wait and the hostess took our number, with pen and paper (I mentioned old-school ). No problem. We waited in the car for about 30 minutes and decided to go back inside to wait the remaining time. Once back inside, it was clear that the tables that were previously occupied had turned and they were seating a new group of diners. Hmmm . My Honey, who is much less patient than myself, abruptly approached the hostess about this and she (very sweet) responded that she did call and reached a hotel so, "she must have written down the wrong number". Nevertheless, she seated us at the bar, which worked well for us. The ordering system is very convenient - scan QR code, order virtually through a tab system and wait for your order. There are no servers persay, but the floor staff looked eager to help when we were in need. Since we sat at the bar, we had front row seats to the food. We ordered two orders of the original 2 piece white, a side of mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese. We were advised by a young gentleman working the line that there would be a 7 minute wait on the chicken The hostess aforementioned brought us two boozy beverages for the inconvenience, on the (Thanks Stacy ). The food arrived on a tray, School-lunch style and it looked amazing. We dug in right away after asking for one of each of the sauces. Hot-honey was our fav although its more honey than hot. The chicken was cooked to perfection but lacked the fried chicken flavor I was expecting. The potatoes were covered with meatless gravy but also lacked flavor depth. The Mac and cheese was good and the rolls which accompany each meal were soft, and the perfect mix of sweet and salty . Overall, the experience was good. Would rate 4.5 if half stars were an option. Nice chicken sandwich with a bunch of good flavors packed in - slaw, cheese, pickles, sauce, and very crispy chicken. My partner got a 3 piece meal with bread. He loved it and ate his meal between moans of enjoyment. I noticed that both the Mac and cheese and the sauce on the sandwich were a bit thin and runny. It made for a wet and drippy experience, but the flavors were good. So let me tell you; I fell in love with this place. I am from NYC and this place came up when I was searching for places to eat. I ran the 10 mile race so I wanted a place where the food was going to be delicious. This place was amazing the food was delicious, the service was great, the vibe was welcoming and the drinks were so good. I had the chicken and waffles; my chicken was so good I regret only getting two pieces. The waffle was good but I like mine a bit softer. I also ordered the roll and the macaroni and cheese. Let me tell you I loved their macaroni and cheese and the roll was soft. I also had the slushy which was so delicious and the Arnold Palmer which was also very good. The staff was nice and very accommodating. I loved Stacey and Jessica thanks to them for being so friendly and patient. We did not know about the sauces and they explained everything to us and gave us some sauces to try. This place is wonderful and I look forward to coming back. They checked in on us to see how everything was going. This is a must stop if you are in DC. Also the Brussels sprouts were so good; they had a nice char and honey taste. read more

Perfectly seasoned, perfectly fried, just perfect all around. We tried the whole bird bucket of chicken, the chicken tenders, buttermilk mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts and watermelon feta salad and everything was absolutely delicious. The French fries are like KFC's old potatoe wedges but cooked absolutely perfect and crispy. You guys are doing an absolutely great job here! This place is absolutely amazing and its even better since I can ride my bike there. I ordered the 2 piece combo dark which comes with a drum and a thigh and a honey butter roll, but make sure you add that $1.00 so you can get the whole thing drenched in their hot honey which honestly makes the whole dish. The flavors are wonderful and even though you are stuffed you will want to keep eating. I also ordered a small side dish of their Mac and cheese which was also fabulous. It's all first come first serve and they do get busy at times so you may have to wait for a short time, but they also have bar seating and patio seating when the weather provides. First time here and it's so good! Located on the corner of Upshur and Georgia Ave, Honeymoon replaced Slims Diner. Slims was a favorite of mine so I had high expectations going into Honeymoon. I can say with certainty they did not disappoint! I ordered the hot honey dipped chicken sandwich at the recommendation of my server. The chicken was juicy on the inside and crispy and sweet and savory on the outside. The lettuce and peppers complimented the chicken nicely. I would say it's the perfect chicken sandwich. Also, everyone that worked there was really friendly!!!! I heard a fellow Yelper say they don't know why people mention how friendly the staff is in their reviews, because they only care about is the food. While that may be be true for some Yelpers, I love to know how the service is, because when I know the people are great, it makes me want to dine in all the more!! Honeymoon Chicken is a hit! The seafood basket and chicken bites have become my go to meal. First, the food his excellently seasoned and fried to perfection. The sides are a great compliment to the deliciously crafted entrees. So far, my favorites are the kale- blue cheese salad, wedges, and mac and cheese. To top off the great tasting food, Honeymoon is putting the drank in drink with the bomb cocktails! You have to try the Tokoyo Tea and the Ginger- Rosemary Mule. The staff was...meh...no introduction, just told us where to sit and never saw them again unless I flagged them down to ask a question. Now for the food. Disclaimer: I love spicy food and not a big fan of sweet sauces! All 3 options for sauce were sweet. I get it, the place has "honey" in the name so, duh. I ordered the option that had the most heat to it and ordered it on the side. It was sooo sweet! I know I wouldn't have been able to eat all 3 wings if they were dipped in the sauce. I asked for some hot sauce and that even had a touch of sweet to it. The mac and cheese and cole slaw was super bland and needed salt. The roll was delicious, though. Other people around me seemed to be enjoying their food so I just chalked it up to the spicy girl being outnumbered by the sweet people. Honeymoon is something I didn't know I needed. The staff is friendly, the decor and atmosphere is unique and easy on the eyes, and the food is fantastic! We ordered the cauliflower appetizer (SO GOOD - it's hard to keep cauliflower crispy and the hot honey, peppers, and goat cheese are a delicious pairing) and fried chicken bucket as our main. I tried the white meat too and it was so juicy, I was surprised. The flavor is so good and savory. Do yourself a favor and dunk the chicken skin in the mashed potatoes (the pepper gravy is what MAKES it). Also, the sweet tea is perfectly sweet. I'm so glad we stopped in! read more

The chicken here is so good, its probably one of the best fried chicken places I've been to since living in the area. The chicken is fried to perfection, it is not over cooked, and extremely well seasoned. The signature sauces that they have to go with it are really good but honestly, the chicken season so well that you really don't need it. This place is so good I went back two days in a row! The first time I went, my friend and I sat in the restaurant at the bar to eat. It is small on the inside however it wasn't too busy so we were able to sit down right away. We ordered a wedge salad to split and the chicken wings with a side of macaroni and cheese with honey butter rolls. The wedge salad was really good and they gave us a nice portion. I wasn't a fan of the macaroni and cheese, it was a little bit on the bland side. I felt it had way more pasta noodles then cheese. The second day I ordered takeout, I got the same thing except I added an order of the kale Parmesan salad which was really good. If you are in the Petworth area, please try this place.
