This place was quite good. I had never been to a Hong Kong Cafe before and I thought it was very on the nose that it this place was named Hong Kong cafe. The rice and minced pork was super good. Good sweetness and texture. The chow fun was good but I think I would have preferred soy sauce option over the black bean option. The crispy noodles had a really good texture that I really liked, but I wish they were in a diff sauce. A more savory soy sauce or a more salty peanut sauce would have been great. I also like the ambiance and service was also pretty good! the food did not take that long to come out. Everything was pretty affordable and parking was really simple to find as well! Overall, I would recommend going to this place! I think most people would really enjoy it!
Hong Kong Cafe provides for a convenient and quick meal if you're on the go (and super hungry). This one is located in the City of Walnut within walking distance of Mt. Sac. The interior includes an old school phone booth, as well as neon lights and other OG cantonese design on the wall and throughout the restaurant. We ordered almost everything on the menu, including baked pork chop, pasta, curry, beef clay pot, charsiu bao, and several other dishes. In terms of food, it is very similar to some of the other solid cantonese restaurants, Tasty Garden, DFC, and countless ones in MKP. There's no outstanding dish, but nothing to avoid either, at least from the ones we ordered. Service is generally quick but you do have to make an effort to get their attention.
I stopped by last week for lunch . The service was quick & friendly . I ordered the beef hotpot with noodles & tea . Price point was the same as other spots . The portion of beef was very little compared to the mountain of Napa cabbage its was 80% vegetables and not even 1/4 of beef or any proteins . I saw in my pot was a quail egg & imitation crab sticks and fish cake , tofu and just way too much of Napa cabbage o my & a few fresh pieces of tomatoes. The hot pot was very mid and lacked flavor and only thing I'd say was good is food came out quick & service & friendly staff this place as far as food goes isn't bad isn't the best it was mid for me . It was busy because if their lunch special it came in waves . I won't be coming here again.
Yummy cantonese diner food with a modern interior space! They have lots of options on the menu and a lot of the food we tried was pretty good. I like the sweet and sour pork ribs and the pork chop dish! They were very helpful with our large party and provided quick service to our group
Nostalgic Hong Kong-style cha chaan teng vibes in SoCal!!! Located in the City of Walnut, the moment I stepped in, as a Hongkonger, I just couldn't resist snapping some good shots haha I was feeling under the weather that day, so I was really happy to have some comforting food. Our all-time favorite: the baked pork chop spaghetti -- such a big portion and perfect for the whole family to enjoy! Their lunch special is only $14 -- we had the minced pork rice with milk tea. There's also a huge variety of drinks. My kid got her Milo, and I tried the new goji and red date tea -- so soothing and healing. A sick day made better with comfort food. IG: socalhkfoodies
I've been Hong Kong Cafe a few times and I've never been disappointed. The service is always great and the food is always delicious. Ambience wise, this place isn't much, but I don't care about ambience when the food is this good.
Great value and great food in this Hong Kong style cafe. We went around 10am Sunday and it was not busy, and it was not busy throughout. As usual for these types of places, you need to flag down a server to fulfill requests, but these and the food are served very quickly. There's breakfast/lunch specials where drink is included or discounted, and there is food on the main menu that is pricier but larger portions and more lunch/dinner regular items. We got the chicken steak with mushroom sauce, beef chow fun, and chicken steak with pineapple bun. The latter 2 came with drinks at a discount - $1.95 surcharge for either hot or cold drink so we got 1 hot and 1 cold milk tea. The biggest value factor is that drinks are unlimited refills upon request. Chicken steak is pretty solid, though a bit more fat than I would have liked. Mushroom sauce is decent. The beef chow fun is large portions with generous amounts of beef. The noodles are cooked to a nice al dente texture. Chicken steak with pineapple bun is huge. It's good but something I don't plan to other again due to redundancy of the dishes we got. All the food is well priced in comparison to neighboring HK cafes, so this edges higher in the ranking of these places in SoCal.
Wanted to stay local for dinner while visiting home and Hong Kong Cafe did not disappoint!! I haven't been here since the old ownership, and this was soo much better. The restaurant is clean, decor is nice, and service was fast and friendly. Nice portion sizes on all the food as well, and drinks were tasty too. I had the Grilled Chicken Steak with Black Pepper Sauce, which was one of the best I've had. The skin was crispy, while the chicken was still juicy. The sizzling steak was also really tender! We all split a Spam & Egg Sandwich in a Bolo Bun too, and it was a super fun twist on a traditional breakfast pairing. Highly highly recommend to check out-- one of the best restaurants in Walnut!
Took my Mom on a little dinner date and I actually saw this posting on IG, but for the Monterey Park location. My mom didn't want to eat a lot so she ordered the chicken wings appetizer serving. She wanteda side of rice, soi decided to order a rice dish so I can give her some of my rice. I preferred the beef tongue rice combo. Service was great and food came fast. The ambience was very much like HK. My wife being from HK, I took a "just like home" picture. Reminded me more of an intimate Alice's kitchen.
I really wanted to like this place and I had high hopes, but I was left feeling dissatisfied. The food is mediocre. We ordered a baked bolognaise, chicken steak with spaghetti and mushroom sauce, and pork chop/chicken steak with spaghetti and mushroom sauce. Also ordered a to go order of seafood noodles and fish clay pot on the side. The flavor of the bolognaise is bland and the noodles were overcooked. The chicken steak had a lot of fat. I wish it came with more veggies. The service was not very good. Food took forever to come out. They messed up our orders and we had to wait an additional 30 minutes for the take out after we had finished eating. They said the chefs had gotten confused. Overall, it did not meet my expectations. But I will try the other locations one day.
Hong Kong cafe is an authentic restaurant located in a large plaza in Walnut. The cafe has both indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is nice and the restaurant has cozy vibes. The staff were welcoming and friendly. They had very delicious dishes to choose from. I was debating which dish I will order. Then I ordered many dishes to try. We had -Seafood chow Mein 5/5 It was delicious, filled with different types of seafood and vegetables. -Baked chicken with pasta 5/5 The dish was enormous. It was very savory and filled with generous amount of chicken pieces. -Pork simaui 5/5 Was fresh,rich, savory,had juicy and yummy fillings. -Pork Dumpling XLB 4/5 It was juicy and tasty. -Congee with chicken 5/5 Very comfort and soothing food, aromatic too, and filled with generous amount of chicken pieces. The service was fast. The server checked on us frequently. The quantity was enormous and great quality of food with unbeatable prices. We had such a pleasant time at Hong Kong cafe. I will be back for sure.
Great Hong Kong cafe in Walnut. They have multiple locations but this one is my favorite one. They have popcorn chicken here and sizzling steak plate. Popcorn chicken has good seasoning and crispy. The sizzling steak is a piece of fried steak and goes perfect with the black pepper sauce. Grilled onions underneath adding aromatics. The salted fish with chicken fried rice was also tasty from the salted fish. They add good amount of salted fish and rice fried well. Mixes even better with the chili oil they have! Quick service and still enjoy the HK decorations.
Authentic HK cafe food with plenty of options to choose from. Combination pork chop + chicken steak with black pepper sauce. It's a bit smaller and less juicy than other HK cafes at 626, but the black pepper sauce is real good. Fried Squid with Pepper Salt- crispy, fried well and flavorful HK style Bo Lo Bao- pineapple bun- included a huge slab of butter since it's HK Style, but I removed it from the bao. The bao was good but I've had fresher and better ones Almond milk tea- tasted strong black tea which was good, but missing some almond flavor . They charge extra for less creamer lol Free refills for lemon iced tea- it's good! It tastes a bit different than other HK ice teas since they add in lime. Overall it was good ! HK cafe always hits the spot!

Yeah, a new place has opened with truly traditional Cantonese-style food. If you love Hong Kong-style cafe food this is a must-try for all the noodle and carb fans. I'm happy I got to try this place out recently with eight people and two young kiddies. Everyone at the table enjoyed the drinks they had gotten which ranged from strawberry bobs, iced lemon tea, hot Horlicks, and much more. They have a great salted fish fried rice, baked spaghetti, and some awesome wonton soup! Overall it has a large menu of a ton of items that are from noodle dishes, soup dishes, rice dishes, and even porridge plus dim sum! The service is quite fast and the food is extremely tasty!! First time trying this place. Cute HK decor. The choy sum was delicious , perfectly cooked with good garlic taste. The braised pork with corn and rice was only ok. The dish was cold/at least not hot and I like my food hot. The dish was also on a sweeter side which was not expected. The baked chicken spaghetti was ok. Chicken was good. Very tender but the spaghetti itself lacked flavor without the cheese on top. Overall, we prefer delicious food corner, Tams noodles, and KW over this one. Hong Kong Cafe takes over from where MJ Teahouse used to be and although I'm unclear whether its under the same ownership (leftover drink special placards from MJ Teahouse made me think that way) it is kinda great to have another HK cafe back in the area as for a while it looked like HK cafes, in general, were disappearing. Although there was nothing particularly special about the straightforward menu at the straightforwardly named Hong Kong Cafe, my wife and I did like what we got - she stuck with the individual hot pot and I went with the minced pork over rice with fried egg. Although I can't say it was an exceptional minced pork over rice for me, I did like the fairly large portion size and the fact that the minced pork had a nice mildly spicy kick to it. My wife for the most part, liked her hot pot but the meat was a tad dry. Overall, I liked the simple vibe of this restaurant as well as its spaciousness now that the younger folks aren't in here drinking boba as much anymore. Hong Kong Cafe is located in the Walnut Hills Village on Grand and Amar. The restaurant is clean, they have plenty of indoor seating, and they have a pretty extensive menu. They also offer lunch specials and tea time specials during the day. It can get pretty busy in the afternoon so there might be a wait if you go during lunch time. The service isn't the best but it's not too difficult to get someone's attention when you need something. We ordered the minced pork rice and fried egg lunch special, mini hot pot, and the sizzling steak plate. The minced pork rice was good - it's savory but also has a hint of sweetness. This was our favorite dish. The steak sizzling plate was just okay. The pasta that comes with the steak sizzling plate looks different from the advertised photos - it's just spaghetti noodles in marinara sauce, which didn't compliment the steak too well. For the hot pot, you get to choose one of three sauces - I went with the satay. The hot pot is a good size but there wasn't much flavor to the meat, veggies (mainly cabbage), and broth. I recommend getting the satay sauce since it added a good amount of flavor. I do think the prices are a little high but everything is expensive now due to inflation. Overall, the food is good and we will be repeat customers! There is plenty of parking available and credit cards accepted. read more
First time coming here since they switched management. It was pretty busy, so the staff were off pretty busy. The food was great, and the portions were amazing. The most memorable part had to be the XL tea drinks that were $7.50 -- so much fun. The restaurant was also themed to be a cute Hong Kong city vibe, which was cute, and the restaurant was clean. It's a decent HK Cafe place. I have been to a few in So Cal, all mostly disappointments. While this place doesn't quite hit the mark for the baked pork chop rice in terms of sweet and tang flavors, it's probably one of the better ones here. The egg puff is slightly more crispy than chewy. The lemon tea and HK Milk Tea is spot on for flavor, so I can't really complain too much. Still looking for my go to spot in SoCal. I often go to HK, so I know I am a little jaded, but this place is acceptable. read more
This location took over MJ Cafe. The menu at this location is different from the Monterey park location. They have a whole page drink menu. Lots more selections at the walnut location and there is also mini hotpot that I want to try next time. This time I ordered sizzling steak with a side of noodles. Easy parking and fast service. Coming back coz I crave Hong Kong milktea and egg waffle. The egg waffle is done just right. Crispy on the outside, the inside isnt filled entirely which is EXACTLY how you were supposed to do it. I got tired of other socal hk style cafes that made it like im eating egg muffin. No, it's supposed to be half empty. Service was quick and good despite having a full house. The food was all authentic. We also ordered shrimp hargao but too hungry to take a pic. It takes longer to arrive as it's made to order. The portions were generous for the price. Everything was delish. The ambiance was nicely decorated and it makes you feel lol you're in hongkong. Will definitely be back again. We stopped by for dinner and really enjoyed our experience. The servers were very friendly and patient with us. I ordered the Pork Xiao Long Bao and the Pork Shumai. They told me it was going to take a while which was fine. Once it arrived, it was worth the wait. The meat was cooked to perfection in both the XLB and the Shumai. I kinda wished the XLB had more broth inside but they were still delicious. Overall, this was a nice place to eat. read more

Most of the foods were good some dishes come with white rice without order on the side. They always busy. Service was fine, sometime they sounds like have attitude but that's wasn't mean it is just too busy, when they have no time to check you guys out once checking out they will apologized wasn't able to service you much. I will recommend to go when you are not in hurry. read more

Our first time trying this place out, it has replaced what used to be MJ Cafe. Glad to see a Cantonese place here, which is closer for people from the inland empire, instead of driving all the way to rowland heights. The place is decorated pretty nicely with a red phone booth, and is pretty clean. The staff was quite nice too (yes, even for a Cantonese place) . Visa or Mastercard are the only form they accept for credit cards, and they do have high chair for kids. Food For our first time we decided to try the baked pork rice, the curry beef brisket, pepper salt chicken wings and the waffle desert. Although everything was quite good, I would come back to get the baked pork chop rice and the waffle for sure. They have a HUGE menu, so I'm sure you can be able to find something for anyone. There is so much that I want to try like the baked bolognese or the minced meat with egg on rice. Will probably come by again soon, until then! read more

Loved that there's a great HK style cafe near my home so that I don't have to drive to WSGV to eat this type of food! Prices are reasonable and quality of food is pretty good. The menu has all the typical Hong Kong style food and my family enjoyed everything we ordered, although the chicken steak was a bit overcooked. We ordered: Beef Chow Mein Minced Pork and Fried Egg Rice Plate Grilled Chicken Steak Yang Chow Fried Rice Bolognese Service was limited and the food took a really long time to come out. Maybe because they just opened up and are short staffed? The staff that did come help us were very nice. There are a good number of tables inside and outside, so they can seat a good number of patrons. However, word is out that this place has opened and it's already getting really busy, so there could be a long wait if you have a larger party. read more

This place replaced MJ Cafe but the drinks are still very similar. You can get the x-large in the same vase! The seating was fast but around 6:30-7 there was a decent amount of people. The decorations are very nice and lively. Drinks - Thai tea x-large w/ boba: The drink was a bit watered down. They forgot the boba so I called them back and they quickly added it! - Ice with red bean: I really enjoyed this one! Make sure to thoroughly mix everything before drinking Food - Beef tongue: Taste was very flavorful but it gets hard to chew. Be warned that your mouth may get tired - Pork w/ curry: The curry was a bit spicy but was tolerable (coming from someone who cannot handle spice) - Pork chop w/ spaghetti: Was pretty good. Taste like what a regular Chinese restaurant would have - Sweet and Sour Pork (not pictured): Comes with rice and a large plate of meat. The pork was easy to eat and very satisfying, no complaints! i'm a huge enjoyer of hk style egg waffles and they're one of my favorite desserts. coming out piping hot and fresh, hong kong cafe's waffles are a delightful experience that doesn't disappoint at all. with a crispy exterior and a soft, mochi-like interior, it's super fun to rip apart and eat with a nice glass of milk tea. the beef chow fun i ordered was also delicious, albeit a bit too greasy for my liking. i appreciate the large portions and you can definitely save the leftovers for another meal. overall, service was fast and the cafe is a great spot to grab a nice brunch/lunch. i'd recommend to anyone who's in the area (or anyone who's a big fan of egg waffles like i am!) read more
