One of the best restaurant in Spokane for Chinese cuisine. The dim sum is excellent and just as good as similar dishes I've had in San Francisco's Chinatown. Whatever it lacks in decor, it more than makes up for with good service and excellent food. We have yet to try the buffet because there is such wide variety of choices on the menu. WOW BLOWN AWAY. I don't like buffets because I have never gone to a good one that had equity food and I had really bad luck with Chinese buffets in the past. I moved to Spokane what like 6 months ago and I had been wanting Chinese. So of course I jump on yelp and look up reviews on places and I came across Hong Kong Express I was like no way these people are give them 4 to 5 stars and its a freaking buffet?! So I caved and decided to check it out. I got to the place and it honestly looks a little run down and I was almost going to drive back home when I was like screw it. It took over an hour to get mediocre "Chinese" food delivered a little over a mile from the restaurant. They did not tell me it would take over an hour to get delivery and nobody else in town takes this long. If I would have known, I would have gotten take out or gone somewhere else. There is no real authentic Chinese food here even Gordy's on the South Hill a lot of sugar tons of it and fat. But that is what the American Diet consists of. Thought I would go against all the negative reviews and try their food anyways. It took over an hour for delivery when the promised time was 30. The chicken teriyaki bowl had strips of rubbery "chicken" that tasted god awful. The Broccoli was undercooked and there was minimal to no sauce at all. I mean, I can respect buffet food. But they are charging a lot of money. I would recommend if you want to eat here dine in and hit the buffet since it appears to be the exact same dishes and quality. Because of this the take out/delivery is absolutely not worth the price. It's around $16 for a dinner combo with two dishes. The soup is not good, the egg roll is very small, but you get lots of rice so that's cool I guess. Not sure why getting half fried rice/half lo mein costs extra. Like I said it's expensive. I'm not sure how this rating is so high for nothing special Chinese American buffet food. The food was decent considering it was buffet food, but nothing that really stood out. I would say there appeared to be less super-battered, fried and sauce laden dishes...which I appreciated. This place is a value for sure if you measure only on price and quantity (hard to bead all you can eat for $6.00), but I like to judge on quality and I really didn't feel that this was a 4 or 5 star experience. I ordered their teriyaki chicken bowl for delivery, and I was not at all pleased with any aspect of my experience. I elected to pay cash, and the delivery driver showed up with no change on him at all. None whatsoever. I was basically forced to call the restaurant and pay over the phone with my credit card, which I was trying to avoid doing. I'd be okay with this if the food was good, but the chicken was bland and gristly, and the teriyaki sauce was just terrible. Ordered delivery. I asked for no onions on anything since i'm highly allergic. There were some onions. Food came fast, hot, flavorful but not great. The sesame chicken was blah and had no real flavor (texture was okay minus the mound of sesame seeds on it), the BBQ was a bit fatty but tender, won ton soup was good with great flavor and chunks of bbq pork in it, egg roll was nothing to brag about and from Costco's frozen food section (I'm assuming since that's what it tasted and looked like), and the lo mein was disappointing (noodles chopped up small when they should be long, veggies consisted of onions, too much cabbage, and thin carrots, and chunks of stringy beef). Like others have commented, they shove everything in the same shell and it caused stuff to mix, getting breaded chicken slightly soggy. The portions were good, but not worth the price I paid. For that price I could have fed two or three people with much better Chinese food. Not the best Chinese food around, but I gave it three stars because it's the only restaurant in town with dim sum dishes. There are way better restaurants, but the service is impeccable. It's a very friendly neighborhood restaurant that a lot of the locals go to get greasy Americanized Chinese food. The food is good but nothing special you can't get somewhere else. Very impressive delivery service as well. They are extremely quick and very friendly. I just threw away $20 on delivery and my food. This crap is not edible. The chicken curry looks and tastes like slabs of chicken lard, the lo mein tastes like old burnt plastic, the lemon chicken did not smell fresh, mostly like it had been under a heater for a few days and was very dry. I could not finish this and wouldn't even feed it to my dogs it was so bad. I am hoping I just don't get sick because I feel very nauseous already and have barley eaten any of the food. If you enjoy getting your food, and then realizing you probably should have just cooked at home then this is the place for you! I've ordered here several times in the past 6 months and each time there was something new to be disappointed about. Delivery ALWAYS takes at least 60 mins and even though I order with the app the food (which is lack luster to begin with) is somehow screwed up. Maybe they read the order on a tiny screen who knows? I either get the wrong dish or the wrong meat or the driver is totally lost. It's a mess. Their short order is way overpriced anyway. I wish some of the other places delivered. read more

Did not get the opportunity to even try the food here because we waited over 45 minutes to be served our dim sum on my husbands lunch break which is one hour long. They brought us out 1 small plate of the the several dim sum orders after like 1/2 an hour. I've been to incredible dim sum at new hong kong in Seattle and the food is brought to you instantly and you are given all the food you order right off the rack. Been going here for years. I love the owner and her kids they seem like very good people. Here you get a lot of mid grade food for a good price. They have this meal where they give you a couple of boiling pots of boiling bullion and meat and veggies. It is so fun with friends.
