I ordered a chicken pan fried noodles. I think this is a cantonese style Chinese restaurant. The food came out super quick. The lady who took my order was very nice. Bathrooms super clean. Highly recommend, will be back!:)
During our family trip down to Hollywood, we stopped at Hong's BBQ for lunch on the last day of our mini-cation. Located off Stirling Road (accessible from both directions), Hong's BBQ sits amongst the various shops that make up the Stirling Place Plaza. If you're here based off your search for food around the Seminole Hard Rock Casino and Hotel Hollywood, you've got the same idea as us and this review is for you; Hong's is essentially "around the corner" from the casino and a great option if you want to venture off the resort for some great food. Recommended by a source for reliable eats, we decided to give Hong's BBQ a go before our trip back to Tampa. We found that Hong's BBQ has some great authentic Canto-style Chinese cuisine. Not big by any means (you can't necessarily host a large banquet style gathering here), there is definitely ample seating - mainly suited for parties of 4. We came around 1pm on a Sunday and had no issues being seated - although the restaurant maintained a steady flow of customers in and out of the restaurant. There are a few larger round tables scatter throughout with the typical lazy-susan setup in the center that may accommodate larger parties of 6-8. If you're not interested in dining-in, there is definitely a "butcher's" station/display that is set up toward the back of the dining section. The setup within the restaurant definitely brought back nostalgic memories of Chinatown restaurants and their racks of char-siu, roast duck, pig, and soy chicken hanging under the heating lamps. From here, you can order cuts of the aforementioned meats by weight without the "extras." The menu offered a great variety of Canto-style cuisine; I would argue that it's hard to go wrong with a choice based on their selections they have available. We ordered two noodle soups (roast duck and char siu), along with an order of the beef chow fun, which were all outstanding. Beginning with the noodle soups, you have 3 different noodle options; I opted for the flat rice noodles which I instantly craved upon identifying it as a choice. The noodles were cooked to al-dente perfection that had a good amount of "bounce" while easy to chew. The broth was also on a whole other level that warrants praise in itself. The beef chow fun is also a must - yes, I recognize that this may be considered a "basic" choice, but Hong's BBQ makes this the right way. The service wasn't poor - let's just say that it falls in line with the coveted 3-star Asian restaurant rating (If you know, you know). The servers knew how and when to deliver. All in all, Hong's BBQ is a great place to dine with your family. I would recommend this to anyone in or travelling to this area.
We had another excellent meal at Hong's. We ordered the salt and pepper fried calamari, the wonton soup (no noodles) and a fried shrimp entree. All were made perfectly and very tasty. The BBQ meats are very good here and everyone around our table had some but we decided for skip them this time. The service was prompt and good. Excellent place.
I try to search for a yummy Chinese food dinner tonight when I am in Fort Lauderdale. I can't find anything I want on Yelp! Fortunately, Hong's BBQ shows up when I'm doing the Google map research. It is only a 20-minute drive. I'm in! I knew I picked the right place for dinner as soon as I walked into the restaurant. All the items look yummy on the menu. Turns out they are very good too. I enjoyed the food, and I enjoyed their excellent service as well. The dining room is also clean and comfortable. Hong's BBQ is one of my best decisions on this trip
We discovered Hongs in the Facebook group, Let's Eat, South Florida. The reviews were mixed, however we decided to try it. I called before we went to see if they cook with MSG and I was told that they did. When I asked if the MSG could be omitted the man I spoke with told me it could be omitted. We went to the restaurant last night and I spoke to the server about omitting the MSG and she said she would check with the chef. She wanted to know what dishes we wanted to order. Every dish I asked her about she had to check with the chef. Every dish we asked about they couldn't omit the MSG. We seriously should have walked out. I made the decision to stay because we were already there and decided just to chalk it up. We ordered egg drop soup, beef chow fun, honey roasted pork and the eggplant in garlic sauce. The soup was a huge bowl big enough for two and reasonably priced, however it lacked flavor. It was basically tasteless. The next dish to be brought out was the garlic eggplant and it was sizzling hot. It was absolutely delicious and the best eggplant we've ever ordered. The next dish to come out was the Chow Fun. The temperature on the dish wasn't cold. Maybe it was sitting too long but we felt it could have been hotter. Food coming out of a kitchen should be hot. I tried explaining this to the server but she just didn't understand what I was asking. I just let it go. It was extremely frustrating with the language barrier. She also forgot to bring out the pork. I had to ask for it. Pork was good but a little fatty. We were just about finishing up our meal and I see the server sit down at a table with a big plate of food. She just went on break. Not once did she look over at us or even come over to us before taking her break to see if we maybe needed anything. Also then the chefs and other server took their break. There was only one woman at the register dealing with take-out orders. We sat there for about 15 minutes. We just couldn't believe it. When the woman at the register finally finished with a customer, I went over to her and said I needed help at my table. She finally came over and I told her our food needed to be packed up and I also had to ask for the check. The woman walked away and came back with containers and just put them on the table. She then just stood there. I asked if she was going to pack up our food or if I had to do it. It seemed like she grudgingly did it. Also, their chairs are extremely uncomfortable, didn't encourage lingering. Absolutely awful service. Today, we were going through the reviews on Google and there were many negative reviews. Shame on me for not reading these reviews. If we had, we would NOT have gone. I give them a 1 out of a 10. One and done for us.
Excellent takeout experience. 3 meat combo on rice with an order of salt and pepper shrimp ran me $39 and change. Shrimp order was the luxury tax but wow it was not only beautifully presented and well portioned, but very large size shrimp that they tempura battered and fried with a beautiful fresh seasoning. It was cooked so crispy you could eat the shell and tail but still enjoy the plump juicy meat inside. My 3 meats were roast pork, roast duck and crispy pork. The roast meats are the stars. Crispy pork was under seasoned but tender. Rice is perfect and they put a bit of bok Choy which is nice. Service is culturally on par, so not warm or memorable. I look forward to ordering a fix of melt in tour mouth roast pork again. Aesthetically unremarkable inside but it's clearly meant to be taken to go.
Talk about perfectly salted, perfectly tasty, hot and ready, mouth watering - all in one. Every dish was a hit out of the ball park. You all are magicians!!!! Sweet service, kind and caring. Tables were big for large parties and small for the smaller couples. Lots of space, clean feeling. Now my top favorite chinese restaurant in Davie, Fl. Cantonese style stir fry egg noodles with vegetables and roast pork - my favorite !!!! perfectly salted and tasty. Cantonese style pork chops - damn, i am in love. red Cantonese sauce, savory, sweet, juicy pork. I haven't been here in awhile. Twice I tried bbq pork over rice and was very bland. This time I tried garlic snow pea rips. It was fresh and plentiful. Egg role has a unique taste to it. I enjoyed this meal better Thea. In the past
I came here to try the duck as I was told it was authentic. The wait was not long and we were seated right away. I ordered the roast duck which came with white rice and got a ginger sauce on the side. The duck was succulent and the ginger sauce complimented the white rice. There is a lot of seating inside and the ambiance is casual yet warm. I will definitely be back to try more dishes
My husband has been harassing me to go for Chinese food forever and when I finally agreed they were closed for vacation...oops...we tried again after they returned and I am a little mad at myself that I haven't been here before. Food is basically served family style. After we ordered, I made comment to our server that I think we ordered a lot and he agreed and asked if we wanted to move to a bigger table with a lazy Susan. We didn't, as we were only 2 people and didn't want to take a 6 top. Somehow I forgot to take a photo of the shrimp with pan fried noodles. It was so good. I wasn't sure about it when it arrived but it was so good. We took home left overs and my daughter loved the dish too. I also ordered veggie fried rice. So good! Not overly soy sauced and filled with vegetables. My husband has the sweet & sour soup. It was enough for 4 people. He couldn't stop eating it and still managed to take some home. He also had the chicken & duck over rice. He said it was very good. The only thing that wasn't my favorite was the vegetable egg rolls. No problem. Not a deal breaker. There was I much food we wish we could have tried. It probably would have been frowned upon if we went to the other tables to try their dishes. We will DEFINITELY return to try more dishes!
This spot is my everyday go-to for awesome Cantonese BBQ. They served authentic Cantonese style roasted duck, BBQ pork, white-cut chicken and much more. The portions are big, the prices are fair, and the quality is always on point. If you're craving some legit Cantonese flavors, this place is a must-try!
The food is so delicious and we were impressed! Thanks to Robert S.' review I bookmarked this place and finally had a chance to go. There were only a couple of people dining in when we arrived but it quickly filled up. There were quite a few people who were picking up To Go orders. It's not that big inside. I think there were about 4 tables that seat 6 ppl with a lazy Susan in the center, 2 tables that seat 4 ppl, and 3 tables that seat 2 ppl. Instead of getting soup, eggroll, white rice and an entree as a combination meal, you get white rice, an entree and a can of soda. My husband wanted soup but they only have family style portions which would have been way too much since he was the only one who wanted it. The Honey Roasted Pork was very tender and flavorful. My husband throughly enjoyed his Honey Garlic Chicken which was very moist. The only thing that was a bummer was that our server didn't stop by our table once jwe got our food and my husband wanted another can of soda. Not that much of a big deal... next time he'll order 2 sodas when he orders his meal. This is located in a decent sized parking lot with plenty of parking. I'm glad we have another option for Chinese food that's closer to home.
Thanks to fellow Yelpers yet again! Read the reviews and went in prepared. The consensus of the reviews I read, order the beef chow fun, the honey roasted pork, roasted duck and crispy pork. Well I got to try three out of the four. The crispy pork is so popular they usually run out early. Beef Chow Fun - flavorful with tender pieces of beef (would come back for this) Honey Roasted Pork - delicious flavors, thinly sliced and tender (would come back for this) Roast Duck - enjoyed it, it was very tender, nice mild flavors but fat not rendered to my taste and skin not crispy as I prefer. It's a small spot with roughly eight tables of varying sizes. Not much of an ambiance but I did enjoy viewing the bbq meats hanging in the case. Haven't since this since NYC Chinatown. Service was polite & helpful. Looking forward to coming back for their crispy pork and salt & pepper shrimp.
Hong's BBQ is known for excellent Chinese roasted pork and roasted duck in the Asian Community in Davie, FL. This restaurant is opened nearly two years ago in a strip mall off Stirling Road. This place is small with roasted pork, roasted duck, soy sauced chickens, roasted pork belly hanging behind a glass enclosure. There is steady flow of customers for take-out orders. Seven inside tables were available if you want to dine in. The place is clean and well maintained. For lunch, we started off with a triple combination of roast pork (char Siu), soy sauced chicken, roast pork belly. Plate of Beef Chow Fun, Chicken pan fried noodle, and Walnut shrimp with broccoli. All dishes were well prepared in authentic Cantonese style. Beside Roasted Pork and Roasted Duck served over wontons, and rice. Hong's serves pork with preserved egg Congee and seafood congee as well as bitter melon with beef, fish tofu in clay pot, Pekingese pork chop as well Preserved vegetables with squid and salt and Pepper shrimp, scallop and squid. I have been wanting to eat here for a long time. I asked my wife, and she told me to ask one of my friends. Nobody wanted to join me to eat there. My wife finally said yes. It turned out to be probably the best Chinese restaurants in Broward County. It's a small place, if you have a very large party, you might have trouble being seated. The restaurant is also kept immaculately clean. Everything in there in there looks like they just took it out of the boxes it came in. Even the bathroom was very clean. The people working there, their service is a bit on the slower side. But, they are incredibly friendly, and they have good knowledge of what is on the menu. As for what we ordered, you would have thought we were ordering for a group of people, not for the two of us. The portion sizes! They are enormous! Every dish is big enough to be shared with four people. So, we ordered a bowl of hot & sour soup, vegetable fried rice, shrimp pan fried noodles, and a combination bbq plate with duck and chicken. We started with a couple of vegetable eggrolls. This was our least favorite thing. They were small and not stuffed very well. Then we had a bowl of hot & sour soup with two smaller bowls to share it. It was only for me. It was good. If that was all I was having, I could have eaten the whole bowl by myself. Next came the bbq duck and chicken served over rice. Wow! The flavor was incredible, and it was tender. To be followed by the vegetable fried rice, also very good. I think the last dish was my favorite. The shrimp pan fried noodles. Let's start with the noodles. Crispy and crunchy on the outside top of the bowl and then soft throughout the rest. And then it's top with shrimp. The shrimp reminded me of shrimp & lobster sauce, but no lobster. We definitely needed some to go containers. We ended with a lot of really good leftovers. read more

My experience with Hong's has always been positive. But as any Cantonese patron can attest, a staple to our palate has always been noodle dishes. This time I took out and this is what I received when I got home. The noodles were practically dropped in the oil fryer and taken out when it was completely fried. Im sorry but this is not how this dish is made. Not sure if I will order this again. read more

Clearly they do not do enough business on the weekday...a few items were dried out, the roast pig had a weird color and it should have raised flags but I tried it anyway. Roast pork also dried out. Ribs were the best and seemed fresher although also a bit dry. Beef pan fried noodles were good. read more

I love Cantonese style BBQ so I look forward to trying this place, but also a bit worried that it may not be authentic, given that their menu hints that the restaurant owners are not from Hong Kong. When we got there and chat with the staff, they told us in Cantonese that they are from Guangdong and related to another Cantonese restaurant here, which is reassuring. In South Florida, I believe Gou Lou Cheong does the BBQ best, but I am more than happy to find a place a bit closer to home. We even tried making it at home at the beginning of COVid and have decided that it's best left to the professionals. Thankfully, Hong's BBQ does not disappoint. Char Siu 叉燒 (roasted pork fillet): 5 stars My husband likes this even more than GLC's. The glaze is sweeter in a nice way, the meat less dense. We asked for the half-fatty section in thick cut, and they deliver exactly. Siu Yuk 燒肉(roasted pork belly): 4 stars Similar to char siu, nice meat texture. Sadly, the skin does not have the nice crunch that defines a good siu yuk. Roasted Duck 燒鴨: 4 stars Tender meat, I like King Duck's flavor more but overall still very satisfying. They also have the other standard Cantonese BBQ fare, like soy sauce duck, pork entrails and more. Unlike GLC which is take out BBQ only, Hong's is a full restaurant where you can also order many Cantonese cuisine such as wonton noodles, various noodles and rice dishes, clay pots, congee, and more. They even have an American Chinese menu too if sweet and sour pork is what you like. A note about the BBQ being cold - the meat are hung or display behind the glass case without heat, so naturally they are at room temperature. You may get it hot if you are lucky enough that they just finished roasting, like at GLC during Thanksgiving or Lunar NY, but most of the time Cantonese BBQ are not served hot - maybe luke warm at best - even in restaurants. I remember my parents would just bring BBQ home in a styrofoam box and it would sit on the table till dinner time. I know that sounds dangerous from a food safety standpoint but I never heard of anyone getting sick from eating cold char siu. Come to think of it, they sell raw eggs and raw tofu in the street markets too. Anyway, if you prefer, you can warm up your food a little bit in a toaster oven at home (microwave will turn the skin chewy). read more

We love Chinese stye BBQ; however, we can't find one decent place in South FL. After finding out this place had just opened in the same shopping plaza as our Vet, we decided to come by and try a few dishes and see if they measure up to our expectations. We didn't order anything fancy because we could tell if their food were good or not by simply trying a few popular items. We started with the roasted ducks. The skin of the duck was crispy enough to be decent. It's got nice flavors, and the meat was very tender. Next, it was the roasted pork. Pretty much the same flavor profile with the duck, so I guess it was not bad. However, with the short 5 minutes drive home, I was disappointed to find our food was already ice-cold when we got home. They do have an extensive menu with lots of different items. Maybe the next time, my wife and I will try tasting their dishes in the restaurant instead of taking the food to go. read more

I really wanted to love this place after the great reviews I saw here and on other groups. The restaurant is on the smaller side in a strip mall. Seems to do a lot of take out business so I'm sure that helps. Overall the food was average and nothing came out hot, not even the soup. Everything was warmish to room temp/cold. Pretty disappointing. The service was relatively quick but our waitress didn't speak much English so it was hard to ask any questions. My husband and I went for lunch today and I'm already thinking about when we can go there next! Located in a strip mall it's a fairly new restaurant. The place is small and spotlessly clean and there are some tables to eat at and while we were there, there was a steady flow of customers coming in to get take out. The roasted ducks, roast pork and crispy pork hanging on hooks behind glass reminded me of my many trips to Chinatown in NYC to get Chinese BBQ. We started with the Wonton Soup Hong Kong style and it was some of the best I've had. The broth was so flavorful without being too salty and it had some Chinese broccoli and plenty of wontons in it. The wontons were so delicious and loaded with shrimp and pork. We ordered BBQ roast pork, crispy pork and rice. The BBQ pork was so tender and flavorful and the crispy pork took deliciousness to the next level. This pork tends to be a little fatty but it wasn't too fatty here and the flavor was amazing. The skin was so crispy and crunchy and the pork was melt in your mouth tender. We took some BBQ pork home to nibble on later. Service was attentive and efficient and I look forward to going back again and again. If you want authentic Chinese food you should definitely try this restaurant. read more

This place is known for excellent roast pork and roast duck but offers so much more. I have been seeing the sign when driving down Sterling Road. The food was calling me. I knew it was going to be good. When I walked in, I first noticed how clean and organized the restaurant is. The staff were helpful and friendly. They do lots of take out but they also have tables for dine in. Today I ordered half a roasted duck, half a pound roasted pork and Chinese broccoli in garlic sauce. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The Chinese broccoli was better than I've had at Chinese restaurants. The garlic sauce was light and the vegetable was still nice and crisp with great color. We could have made a meal out of just that. The roast pork was the best I've ever had. It's the kind of food that lingers in your mind long after you have eaten it. Next, I want to try their Wonton soup Hong Kong style and their noodle dishes like Chow fun and thin rice noodles with duck. read more

You really can't go wrong with Chinese BBQ and that was pretty decent and hit the spot when I needed it. I ordered the Trio through Uber Eats and the Roast Pork was good, the Duck was way too fatty, and the roast chicken... which I thought was very good. I may get from this place again but it's somewhat 3rd on my list out of 5 places that I know locally. read more

I've been here a couple of times and got take out today and I've really enjoyed the things I've ordered but I can't speak for the rest of their extensive menu. I've had their roast pork, crispy pork and roast duck. All of these dishes are very flavorful and remind me of the bbq you get in Chinatown in New York. The restaurant itself isn't very big but they have a few tables outside. They do serve the roast pork cold which I'm used to but some people might not expect it. Sunday 3-26-23 Came here for a UYE held by fellow Elite Yelper Robert S. This is one of the many reasons I love Yelp. The camaraderie and friendships made as well as finding Yelpers that truly have the gift of finding the best of the best. Hidden gems that you would normally overlook. So the day of the event I drive west and when I enter the plaza I know the Carvel but not this place. Small restaurant located in a neighborhood shopping plaza Robert arranged for us to have two large tables and everything to be served family style. Well we are truly a family and we had the lazy Susan on the table to spin around to get to all the dishes. Now once again terrible Yelper as I eat before I say oh I should have taken that picture first but let's cut to the chase shall we. Everything was delicious and we had plenty to eat. The service was exceptional. At the end of the meal there was so much food leftover they gave containers to take the food home. I instead ordered my two favorites to take home to hubby. The barbecue roasted pork and the beef chow fun. The noodles in that later dish are exceptional. With it and a Yelp check in you get two free egg rolls to take with as well. A fellow Yelp Elite recommended Hong's to us and it had been on our radar for a while. We decided to give them a try last night. Hong's like most everyplace else is in a strip mall, parking is ample. The dining room was clean and well lit. Every time we try a new Chinese restaurant we have to taste their egg rolls and hot and sour soup. The egg rolls were terrible just like every other Chinese restaurant in Florida that we tried, pass them up. The hot and sour soup was some of the best we've had, thick and rich with many veggies and not too spicy. They also charge for tea, but I didn't mind as they serve Pu-Erh tea one of our favorites, this tea also aids digestion. Our fellow Yelper recommended the beef chow fun, he was right it was very good and not very greasy, the beef had a good smokey flavor I just wish they put more in the dish. They have a very big menu and we saw many other dishes that we'll be back to try. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. Horrible food. The duck was mostly bones. The beef on the beef stew was mostly skin and fat barely any actual beef. Noodles stale or undercooked i couldn't even tell. They were old. Unimpressed. Waste of money. Even the chili sauce was horrible. read more

It's the extended hours on Sunday that worked for me!! My regular Chinese bbq closed at 7pm so it was too late to go once I realized at 6:55pm I wanted bbq roast pork for dinner. Yelp took me to Hong's BBQ and the food was delicious, service prompt! Nice to walk in and see ducks hanging, a lost art in South Florida. The garlic sauce for the eggplant is sooooooo good!! Went around 5 on a Sunday, we were the only ones there when we arrived. Clean dining room, well staffed, roasted ducks hanging behind the glass. We ordered veggie egg rolls, the bbq roast pork and roast duck combo bbq platter and noodles. Beware: the pictures they have in the back of the menu are NOT accurate to what they say they represent. We ordered based on what we saw there and got something COMPLETELY different that was totally unappetizing to both of us. I've never sent back food just because I ordered wrong before but today had to be my first time. It was partially our ignorance and partially their misrepresentation on the menu, but they made it right once we explained what we were actually looking for and everything ended up being delicious! read more

Located in a plaza, I wanted to satisfy my craving of Roasted Duck and pork. But I wanted to sit in and the previous restaurant that was awesome by the way, didn't have dining. So we tried here. I love the ambiente of Hong's BBQ. The servers are pleasant and you get a lot of food. We had the roasted duck over rice that came with veggies and the combo of roasted duck, pork and crispy pork over rice. I wish it came with a veggie because honestly it was oily. The dish needed some freshness. This is the reason for 3 stars for me. I still recommend. There were a lot of people in and out for take-out, so the food must be good. I'll try something else next time though. read more

Dine in experience! Let's start with the food. I ordered the combination roast pork with roast duck over rice. This price starts at $12 or so. The lunch specials are pretty cheap as well and it comes with a lot of rice. You'll be so full once you leave there. I liked the roast duck because they give you more meat than the fat pieces. The roast pork was a bit hard and chewy but other than that I would recommend just the roast duck. Apparently this place sells out quick for roast duck so call sooner than later if you plan on picking up. I've dined here twice already and the first experience was better than the second. The second one the waiter seemed confused and no refills on the water. I think it'd be better to hire a more experienced server or train someone. The authenticity of the meats are very tasty. I can't wait to try their other options. I might have to try a to go experience rather than a dine in though. read more

WOW! Being from California and having amazing Chinese places in Chinatown in LA and SF, I didn't expect this restaurant in Davie to hold up to my standards. However, this was one of the best Chinese places I've had in my life - really on par with the places i'm used to. The glazed pork was the best most tender pork I've had in a while. Just absolutely scrumptious - you NEED it in your life. The orange chicken and fried rice were amazing as well. The staff was super kind. This place just opened and I believe it's a gem. The owners are super nice but the dine in experience is not so much. I feel like they care more about their take out orders rather than giving refills or service to a table once they bring out the food to you. Not even busy but they have someone kinda looking inexperienced or not sure what to do. Kinda looking lost in a way. But I give this place a 4 because it's still new and they have a lot of great options. But I come here specifically for the roast duck. The portions are spot on and will fill you up. The roast duck actually tastes flavorful and the veggies are a great compliment. I could've been super hungry but I devoured my plate. Every lick of it. Will need to give this place another try because I go to another place not to far from this but now I have to pick my poison. read more
