Okay... I have worked in restaurants since I was 15 and understand the power of a review, and 15 years later I am writing my first restaurant review ever. Thanks to this restaurant right here! I had dinner there this evening for the first time and I haven't the right words to explain how impressed I am. My boyfriend and I could not stop exclaiming how tight of a program these guys are running, literally it's all we talked about all dinner. It was so relieving to see the owners walking around the restaurant showing face and interacting with their customers. The host was jumping in when the servers needed help, and the servers were so kind and, I know working tables can be stressful, they kept it cool and did an AWESOME job. Our meals were inexplicably delicious, well done to those hard working men behind the line... I hope they can see this and realize people are very happy with what is coming out of their kitchen. As a Pawcatuck local I've seen many places come and go, it's tough around here to keep a place afloat! This family has done it right, and I hope they are here to stay. Arrived at 4pm on a Thursday. Was told we needed a reservation BUT, they could seat us in a bar seat at the large picture window. The food was good, the service was exceptional (thank you, Colleen!) BUT, every freakin' table stayed empty until we left. Really???? We were celebrating our 32nd wedding anniversary front and center in the picture window. There was NO reason we could not have been seated at a table. We watched the host text away on his cell phone.... just really sad customer service. Food was good, expensive but good. Darn if it didn't leave a bad taste in my mouth to see the restaurant empty and we sit in the crappy seats. Word to the wise.... make sure you have a reservation! read more

Went Hoofs tonight and the service and atmosphere was wonderful. The special of Cavatelli alla Bolognese was good, but the cavatelli should have been cooked another minute or two, and the sauce could have had a little more "taste"! We really enjoyed the food (white truffle fettuccine, Hoof's special pasta). The pasta was cooked perfectly al dente and the sauces were flavorful. The cream sauce on the fettuccine was just the right heaviness - unlike so many American Italian restaurants, where it is way too heavy. The downside for this restaurant, however, was the noise level (we visited on a Friday night and it was about half full). It was far too loud to hold a reasonable conversation - we all came out with sore throats from yelling and ears ringing from the volume. We'll give it another try because the food was so good - but only on a night when there are fewer people. read more

Came here with my wife , kids and two other families on a Saturday night. First off the waiter was super nice. The owner was very friendly too. This was my first time here. Felt like I was in the movie Goodfellas , which was kind of cool. My wife and a few other people in our party ordered the pork chops which were very very thick, about 4 inches. They were pink in the middle so sent them back to cook a little more. I had rigatoni with red sauce. The sauce tasted borderline burnt. I was hungry so I ate it but the sauce was slightly burnt. I let the waiter know. I'll come back again and give them another try. Maybe I'll try the seafood fra diovolo next time or linguini with clams. read more

The food wasn't what we expected at the price point. My Chicken Oscar was served in a bowl over puréed potatoes which made for a soupy mess. My husbands portion was very small for $40+ Luckily, they gave him plenty of bread to fill up on. The server was extremely attentive, friendly and the best part of our meal. read more

I went with a friend last night for the 1st time. It was quite busy (6:45 on Saturday night) but after discussions with Lou (older but sharp gentleman) and a younger presumed owner, we sat right down. It was quite loud so we needed to speak just as loud to have a conversation. We both ordered pasta and the portions were large and delicious (we both took home doggie bags). The side salad was very lightly dressed but fresh parmesan was grated at the table over the sald and our pasta. A nice touch. Hoof's apparently is a reference to the large shoe size of one of the brother/owners. This is not a steakhouse although one of the specials was a prime steak. The bar was full and lively so we may look to try that the next time. They will be adding noise reducing panels soon...that is a good thing! A great addition to the area. If you love good Italian food, you will love this place. With the Corona shut down, we decided to try them for take out. Dang, was that good. I mean the meatballs are amazing and the Bruschetta is the best I ever had. Yes, EVER! Then I tried the Chicken Parm. Again, That's Italian! Came down to visit family and visited Hoofs for dinner both Saturday and Sunday with no reservation. Saturday was amazing! Our server, Kim, was one of the best servers I've seen. She was taking care of a large party next to us, helping clear tables, helping other staff members, and still was extremely attentive to us. Very polite, great attitude, very professional. When I asked her why she was doing so much in the room (By watching I thought she was a floor manager) her response was " because we are a team here at Hoofs. We are like family" Being an owner of a high end restaurant myself of 27 years and counting that was the best answer I have ever heard and left a 60% tip. Honestly I offered for her to come work for me and manage my floor and she respectfully declined. Filet and ribeye cooked perfectly. Absolutely 5 stars!! Sunday we returned because our experience was so great. Although we did not sit with Kim, she came over to say hello and said for us to enjoy our dinner. Although the food was once again excellent, the gentleman who served us was less than par. He was very jittery and shaky spilling the drinks when delivering them to the table. As he reached across the table I noticed he was sweating profusely and smelled of sweat and alcohol. He seemed to have trouble understanding our simple order. Thankfully it was delivered correctly. He kept calling my wife baby and sweetheart which is completely unprofessional. Im not sure if he wasn't feeling well but definitely seemed under the influence. When I asked him his name I couldn't understand what he was saying with his slurred words. Very disappointing and quite alarming that an employee would be allowed to work in that condition. Being sick and/or under the influence is dangerous for both fellow employees and the restaurants patrons. If we do return in the future we will 100% request Kim if possible. Have been several times, always get the chicken parm. Great atmosphere. Sometimes the food is awesome, other times it's just ok, disappointing even. Now that it's take out only, ordered the chicken parm for a family of 4. You get a lot of pasta, a fair amount of salad, no bread, and the amount of chicken equates to about 1 and a half of a regular single order. Totally not worth it! I have eaten here many times with my family and friends. The food and the service is excellent. Nick and Brian make sure everyone is well taken care of and the food had always been top notch. Tonight we had the fire roasted salmon with risotto and the chicken Marsala. On other nights we have had the meatball appetizer, clams casino and the salads and for entrees the chicken parmigiana, chicken limone and the fish special. We have always had a great meal and excellent service. The cocktail special of pumpkin martini was to die for and the desserts have always been amazing such as the ammeretto cake with fresh fruit, home made ice cream , cannolli, or the specialty banana dessert. Everything is homemade and very fresh. The service and attention to detail is great. It's a must to try for a very enjoyable night. read more

Our experience at Hoofs was nothing less than brilliant. I will not go into the plates we ordered since a diners choice is a personal choice. I can only tell you that all of my parties choices were simply perfect. The bread and dipping sauce is a perfect preview as to what is yet to come. Just visited the restaurant for the first time. My husband had the seafood Fra Diavlo special and it was very very good. By far the best he's had in the area. This was my first time here and this was my experience here So let's start with the appertizer I ordered the calamari it was so over cooked and very tough to chew the batter was very heavy for such a delicate dish then came the house salad nothing in it but lettuce come on throw in a cucumber and a few tomatoes the dressing was delicious with good garlic taste I ordered the Huffs Pasta said it had homemade chicken sausage with dried tomatoes in a lemon sauce you would think that you would get a sausage link or maybe 2 no it was ground up Alpo with white wine poured over it the wine taste was so strong it was disgusting no garlic or lemon flavor at all the place was cute with a nice flare I felt it was over priced I will say I will not return . read more

So, I took my son and his friend to Hoofs last night to show them the restaurant that I have enjoyed the past two years. My son just moved home from Florida and was unaware of the restaurant. Well, Hoofs did not disappoint. Of course, due to the Pandemic, the restaurant had very limited seating. We made reservations earlier. Our waiter was absolutely wonderful; he read the specials and took our drink orders. While he was gone, I was telling the boys what my favorite meal was. It was hard to pick just one because everything there is amazing; however I was telling them about a special they frequently have which was a grilled veal chop with a side of lobster Mac and cheese. Remember, this is not a menu item, this is a special. When our waiter returned with our drinks, he heard me describing the meal to the boys. He went back to the chef and when he returned, he said that he spoke to the chef and for a small up charge, they would me make me the lobster Mac and cheese. Well, this made my meal incredible. I actually just finished my leftovers. If you are ever in the area, you should not miss this dining experience. The place is very clean and the staff is amazing. I can't wait for this Pandemic to be over so the restaurant can become the local gem that it was prior to all this chaos. read more

Wow, just wow. I thought I enjoyed this place but nope, not ever again after tonight. I have eaten here on a few occasions, and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Tonight as a patron enjoying my dinner I was deeply offended at an incident I witnessed that I had not part in. A group of 3 men came in, 2 younger and one older. One of the young men was wearing a shirt announcing it was his 21st birthday . They went in and met up with an older gentleman eating at the bar. They were a bit loud and saying happy birthday etc. They were not disruptive to the restaurant, but were like I said a bit loud. The owner (?) Came out and told them they were being too loud, the older of the 3 said he was sorry and they were leaving. As they were walking out (I happened to finishing up as well) the owner followed them out and proceeded to say "you guys probably shouldn't come back here, especially THAT FAGGOT" to the birthday boy. The young man understandably got irate and proceeded to start yelling, while the older man of the group grabbed him and escorted him out. I cannot believe the bigotry I witnessed tonight. I understand that you ask them to leave, even though I didn't find them to be obnoxious, however when you are running a resturant that caters to the public and you use language like that, its completely unacceptable, and me and family and friends will never give this place another dime. I went with a friend a few months ago and sat at the bar. We enjoyed a great meal and delicious martinis. I couldn't wait to take my husband. He and I went last night and it was wonderful. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a cocktail. We ordered the meatball which was savory and delicious. Bread was served with a wonderful balsamic, olive oil and roasted tomatoes (I think). Could have made a meal outta just that. We were seated in the dining room. Our waiter was just ok, not great but our food was delicious. I ordered chicken lamone which our waiter suggested I order with the spaghetti on the side with the lemon sauce rather than a marinara sauce as stated in the menu. It was absolutely delicious! My husband ordered a special... Seafood Fra Diavolo over homemade pappardelle. The seafood was plentiful, fresh, great variety and cooked to perfection. The sauce was delectable.
