Surprisingly, one of the best restaurants in Lakeway is a beer garden. Great selection of beers on tap, but the star is definitely the food. Came in on both Friday and Saturday nights for drinks and a quick supper. Honestly, I was not expecting too much as it is in a shopping center that has had a number of failed restaurants. I couldn't have been more wrong. The wait staff and bartenders are attentive. The shrimp and grits were awesome. Fish tacos were also solid. The fried cornbread appetizer is also stellar. Also really enjoyed the carrot raisin entree. All of the dishes are well thought out. The portions aren't huge but priced well. There are only a couple of pointers I would consider giving the management. Sitting at the bar would be a bit more comfortable if there were a railing to rest your feet. Also, since the kitchen is relatively close to the bar and tables, it can get a little warm in there. Granted, when it is over 100 degrees outside, any ac unit has a hard time keeping up. I never rate restaurants, but I'm definetly giving this one a 5. Tired of the same so-so food in Bee Cave and Lakeway? You are about to be surprised. Real chefs, locally sourced ingredients, creative well balanced menu, excellent attention to service and welcoming experience. A long list of craft beers as well as a carefully selected wine list. We had the fried corn bread appetizer at the waiters recommendation, then steak skewers, it was so good I decided to try the Baja tacos. Many plates are a little larger then tapas style. First time here and we have been eagerly anticipating! The beer selection was good, and our waiter was very helpful with giving us suggestions. My husband got the chicken and pancakes and LOVED them, I tried to order the (9 DOLLAR) kids chicken strips and was turned down. Instead I got the Baja tacos which were tasty but tiny. Overall, the food was good but pricey, service was attentive, and restaurant was beautiful. My advice is don't come here really hungry or if you are gluten free! I am sad to do this. We have always enjoyed ourselves here but unfortunately the last few visits have become less and less enjoyable. Waited for a very long time for drink orders to be taken, then a drink was forgotten. Brussel sprouts which are usually wonderful came out cold, bruschetta still had amazing flavor however the bread was soggy from sitting too long in the pesto. Dinner arrived cold as well and my husbands sandwich was soggy. My order was incorrect and then "the corrected" meal wasn't the right salad at all. Old fashioned was like rubbing alcohol with a muddled cherry and orange?!? Used to be wonderful and will hopefully get back to par. Expensive for the below average meal. read more

Truly a bizarre experience. We came at 6:30pm on a Saturday and it was not crowded by any means. When ordering one member of our party was not able to get their first or second choice because they were "sold out." We waited 1 hour for our food, despite it not being crowded. One party member ordered salmon, which is supposed to come with rice and broccoli. When they brought it out, they told us that they were "out of rice and broccoli" and had substituted it with carrots and avocado. They had not told us of this issue until they brought out the food, but they kindly offered to compensate that entree and add a side salad on the house. Overall, the outdoor patio was nice, the food was good not great, the service was attentive, but the management of the kitchen was truly puzzling. read more

We decided to eat here on a Saturday evening as the menu looked good and it had good reviews. There were quite a few people outside and only one other couple inside when we ordered. We waited patiently while watching the kitchen staff prepare and the waitstaff take lots of dishes outside. I thought kitchen staff needs hairnets or at least ball caps? I guess not, but that is not the reason for the bad review. 20 minutes after ordering our waitress walked by and looked at our empty table then went to the kitchen to talk to someone. Then the manager appeared and served me my $15 burger. Then he stared and my wife (it was her birthday) and told her they ran out of the pork belly fried rice she ordered. I asked the manager if he expected me to eat in front of her while she waited another 20 minutes for a new order? No reply. My wife asked if they could prepare anything fast. He said 'no'. Silence... Then he said he would comp my burger and pack it to go (as we were getting up to leave). That was the only thing they did right - and thus the 1 star rating - or it would have been 0. There is no excuse for this horrible service, serving 1 person at a table while telling the other they ran out of food at the same time. There have been several failed restaurants at this location and if they don't learn what customer service means - then they will fail as well. We won't be back as there are many restaurants in the Lakeway area with much better service. read more

An amazing find!! Fresh and amazing food! Not only was the food intriguing, so was the quaint ambience, and our waiter the manager was amazing!! The food didn't disappoint for parents or kids. We had the cornbread as an appetizer and hitch left us wanting more. We had shrimp and grits which was sooo good, the burger was so mouthwatering good and an awesome size! The salmon was eaten by an 11 year old plate licked clean, and the pork with kimchi which definitely didn't disappoint. The portion sizes were perfect, No one left overly stuffed or wanting to take a nap due to the food being processed. We even tried the single chocolate bites with sea salt to top it all off. Oh man I forgot to mention the BEER!! This stuff can sell itself but these guys put forth a lot of effort to ensure the beer was easily paired with food but not the kind you'd find easily at your local market. My co-workers and I found out about this place from a Facebook group. A few of us were trying to go sooner, but with our schedules it didn't work out... until today. As much as we all wanted to love this place it just didn't happen. The idea of it sounds amazing, but when we got there we noticed there weren't really any large tables to accommodate a larger group. We squished in a booth, and it took about 15-20 minutes for our server to get our drink and appetizer orders. Once they were placed it was another 20 minutes before the beers and waters were brought to our table. It was a good hour before the popcorn and chips were finally served. Long story short, we were there for almost 3 hours. It would have been fine if that's what we had aimed for, but the plan was to get drinks and apps then go somewhere else for dinner (their food menu is pretty small). Our server kept apologizing for the wait time but did absolutely nothing to improve the service. Overall the drink prices are pretty reasonable, but don't go expecting to get great mixed drinks or better than mediocre food. You'll be very disappointed. They only had beer, wine, and food menus. There is a small children's menu with about 3 choices, but they don't have any children's cups for water. Like I said earlier, I think the concept of this place is fun and it appeals to all age groups, but there is so much room for improvement. You want to see places like this succeed, but after a couple of months you would expect to see some progress being made. read more

My dining companion and I stopped in here for dinner one evening after driving past it numerous times. There was a guitarist playing on the outside patio and we wanted to dine there but the floodlights they use to illuminate the area were off putting. It felt like you would be dining in a Home Depot parking lot. How about turning off the floodlights and just use the string lights that are already up with maybe some candles at the tables. It might make it more intimate and enjoyable. We ordered two drafts, which were very good(did not make note of the names). For apps we ordered the fried corn bread and boy were these fabulous. I highly recommend. I thought there could be more options for dinner though. We split the mushroom risotto and a kale salad. The waitress did not bring our food, a restaurant server from the kitchen did. He speed off before I realized that we had no parmasean cheese served with the risotto and that there was no salt and pepper on any of the tables. The waitress disappeared so I had to get up and walk over to the kitchen area to get what I needed. The waitress(40's-50's) only occasionally appeared when asking us if we wanted another beer. She seemed interested in only selling beer instead of waiting the table. The risotto and salad were fine, nothing special. We had to flag down another employee to get our check. All in all, I would stop back for a draft and the wonderful corn bread and sit on the patio but only if they kill the flood lights. read more

We have been anticipating the opening for several months and we were not disappointed. The beer selection is awesome and not overpriced. The patio is very comfortable, with large oaks. The food is tasty, maybe a bit pricey. A few more heaters on the patio would be appreciated during chilly months. The men's room is probably too small for busy times, and parking may also be tight. I had higher hopes for this restaurant but in the end it was just an alright meal. I will say that the $90 spent for 3 people(2 kids one adult) wasn't equal in regards to the meal, ambiance and service received. It was so uncomfortable with regards to temperature. They have a broken sliding glass door that is often left unclosed. It was almost 100 degrees today and when I was searching for a place to have dinner I didn't expect to be battling with comfort... I got up to close the door myself 6-8 times while in the middle of my meal to help keep ambient temperature inside the restaurant bearable. I shouldn't have to do that. There was another patron that did it first but since I was closest to the door I felt obligated every time it was left open. With regards to the food, most things were great. The shrimps and grits had a sauce that I swear tasted like chef boyardee ravioli sauce. Although that may sound like an insult, it was good. My pork belly fried rice was ok but nothing I would write home to tell mom about. My sons burger was awesome(I had a bite). My daughters Chicken tenders were awesome. The fries were perfect in my opinion but they had way too much pepper for a children's plate. Regarding drinks, I had 3 while I was there. The first two were spot on, then the shift bartender showed up and made a piss drink like you should expect from Chiles or Applebee's...I couldn't drink it. So, with good conscience, I have landed in the middle of the road regarding stars. This place has promise but is currently struggling to be great in my opinion.
