We came in after reading a bad review on Facebook. We had to try it for ourselves. First, the wait was nothing at all. The front crew was sweet and accommodating for our large crew. Our server Ashley was awesome. She took great care of us. The menu was great. Hard to make a choice with so many good options! My baby's Mac and cheese was real penne pasta and real cheese! When the cook made a mistake to my order, they threw in an extra side for free. AMBIANCE: While I didn't stay for a long time since we opted for carry out, my view was that the location was clean, spacious, and appropriately decorated. TASTE: We ordered their standard burger with fries. Definitely a god choice! We both agreed the burgers and fries were delicious. They weren't salty and were a reasonable portion size. Visiting Hop Jack's in Gig Harbor was the first time I've been to any Hop Jack's. I was pleasantly surprised. The best way I can describe it is a combination of Applebee's and The Ram bit much closer to the Ram in terms of quality and ambiance....which is a good thing. Service was very good. The hamburger I had was also quite nice and just the right size. Wh n I go to Blazing Onion I feel like I need to fast for a week prior due to the massive quantities of the burger and fries. I will be back for sure and if I could give it a 4.5 I would. They are good at doing what they aim at. A broad menu for a broad clientele including kids. More tv's would be good. read more

Pleasant staff that are made to upsell, but man the breakfast food is low quality. Pretty sure the eggs are powdered, sausage is weird with some kind of fillers, jimmy dean would be much better. Pancakes were rubbery. Oh it was all luke warm when served too. Brunch is not a core competency here, maybe the evening bar food is better? UPDATE: Thank you for the response and kind offer. I don't think this is a kitchen staff issue, maybe don't overstir the pancake batter. The food temp isn't a big deal to me and wouldn't warrant a yelp review in my opinion. The real issue is whoever is buying the ingredients, that's what needs improvement, there's no way to cook that sausage to make it better and make the eggs taste like eggs except better ingredients. I love the Hop Jack's in Silverdale and am a regular there, so I was excited to try the new one in Gig Harbor. The experience did not start off too great when we walked in with a large party, yes we called ahead, we were told our table was given to a larger party so we had to wait. After we were seated a waitress spilled a drink all down my sisters backside. They apologized and cleaned it as best they could. Food was good but nothing really memorable. We went here twice, we've tried burgers, sandwiches and salads and nothing is really good at all. It's OK at best. The beer selection for a place called 'Hop' Jacks is pretty poor too, they seem to try to push their Red Robin style cocktails more than the beer. We are always happy to stop in here for dinner! They have a fabulous happy hour which is also permitted in the main dining room. A plus for parents! The service is always quick from being seated to drinks to food. I love their monthly specials as well to change it up. Personal favorites are the flavored long islands and lemonades as well as the quesadillas on happy hour. They also have great Mac n cheese! We will continue to go here, love hop n drops! read more

Most reviews are positive, but I was hesitant because of the negative reviews, so I feel compelled to share my experience. Burger was amazing. I had the avocado or guacamole burger... whichever one has the avocado and bacon, that's what I had. OMG, it was delicious. The menu says something like "hand formed party" or something like that, which sounds like some marketing registered trademark, but this really did taste and feel like a hand made, homemade (but better) patty. It was REALLY good. I'm here on business so don't know when I'll be back, but if I lived here, I would come here regularly. Fries were cooked to perfection, and they have a great beer selection. We used to love Hop Jacks so naturally they changed things. They no longer serve Mac n Jack, their salads aren't nearly as good. And they are absolutely not dog friendly on their patio, as one would expect in Gig Harbor. We'll be looking for a new favorite. read more

Yesterday was our first experience at Hops N Drops, Gig Harbor. Wow! We were impressed. Our server Olivia took great care of us. Since we had never been to a Hops N Drops, she brought us beer samples so we could make our selection. Her recommendations for appetizers and entrees were spot on! She even brought us samples of all the dipping sauces for the chips and tots and labeled each container! We had the street tacos appetizer, the jalapeño cream cheese burger and the Big Tony BBQ Mac. This wonderful establishment saved our skins during a recent trip to Gig Harbor. We happened to visit the area during the snow storm(s) that hit February 7 - 10, 2019. Hops n Drops was a snowball's throw from our hotel and turned out to be the only restaurant open for miles. We ended up eating there three times and it would have been four except for the power outage that hit Gig Harbor on Saturday the 9th. The food is superb (try the flatbreads and the tacos!); the staff is friendly, gracious and personable; the prices are extremely reasonable and the beer...well the iced taps truly make their beer the coldest in town. We visit Gig Harbor two to three times a year. We will be back to Hops n Drops and are eternally grateful that they were there for us in a true time of want and need. You guys rock! read more

Came here after work on my birthday. I ordered the quesadilla carnitas and am dumb and forgot to ask for no onions. While I was pulling out the onions the manager came over and asked if everything was ok, I said yes since it was my fault, he made me a new one anyway with no onions. Well it's a chain. I don't know why we expected anything other than a chain experience. We did cross our fingers, but alas. It is a chain. So there you have it. Everything reminded us of Applebee's. The decor, the menus, the overly cheery "what can I git fer ya'?" And "howre we doing?" - as if we are best friends without knowing each other. The decor was fine- I'm sure like all the other hop jacks. Nothing exciting there. The menus didn't have much in the line of health food or other than burgers and faux Tex mex. But if you want a burger, this could be an ok place to go. If you could ignore the exorbitant prices, that is. Two burgers and a beer for $60. Incredible. That was the good part. The burger. But the selection of desserts was almost non-existent, so we didn't bother. Donuts? Really? No thanks. And not a lot of beer to choose from. We wish they would turn up the heat, as by the time we left we were shivering. And the music was blasting so loud we couldn't hear ourselves. Also we are really bothered by the server standing there waiting for us to pay. It was very off-putting to have the tip-line staring us in the face while the server waited to read it. It felt like a lot of pressure to tip well, as you have to hand the machine directly to the person, who reads it before you get up. Not a good idea at all- and we usually tip at least 20%, so it isn't like we needed to apologize. All in all, a sadly mediocre experience. Not sure we will be back. We hope someday gig harbor can grow up and get restaurants that are unique and locally owned. read more

2.0 at most stars, Although it was completely what I expected. What to say here: corporate chain? Reminds me of the movie Office Space... "Chotchskies or Flingers?". What to say here; it's a corporate shiny place with lots of flair. It's expensive, it's new, it's Gig Harbory and it smells of new paint and regrets. The food is not all that. Most of it seems to be Sysco or Food Services of America grade stuff, probably pre made and nearly warmed to be served. Their "home made mozzarella sticks" were actually pretty gross and among the worst cheese sticks I've ever had. The burgers are just burgers. But expensive ones at that!! Some are near $14 for a mediocre burger and fries. The beer is cold and of good variety but very expensive. I believe my pint was $6.50 or $7. That's Applebee's prices for Pete's sake!! And Hopjacks is no Applebee's!! ;) JJ. Applebee's is also a 1.5 star in my book. I have a suggestion: go to the Hub at the airport or Tanglewood Grill. Both are better than this joint. This is Gig Harbors best restaurant. Everything on the menu is ALWAYS cooked to perfection. The service is fast, no matter how busy they are. The entire staff is very pleasant and always in a great mood. We have never been disappointed in this restaurant and we have ordered most menu items. The patty melt is best I've ever eaten. Will continue to enjoy this establishment, as we have at least 20 times since they opened in Gig Harbor. read more

Decided to come here around lunch time the place was practically empty. Got seated and served right away. The waitress was so nice and quick. That's what's giving this place 4 stars. The food: it's good. The pricing on the items are very steep. A turkey sandwich is almost $15. We had an appetizer, 3 lunches, 1 soda, and two waters and it was well over $60! You get 8 mozzarella sticks for $11.50. Thats a little ridiculous. The service was excellent because of our waitress, Sara, she was amazing. She bumped the rating up to 4 stars. She was helpful with the menu, kept our drinks full, and got our food served quick and hot. All in all the service is great if you get the pleasure to have Sara as your server, the food is typical for this type of restaurant (think Red Robin) but the prices will take me elsewhere. read more

So we ordered a beer, a gin martini, fish tacos, and a chicken salad (the small version). Thought for sure we would have money leftover. Forgot to say this was before 6:00. So Happy Hour. They brought the tab, after we said we had a gift card for $50, and surprise! The tab came to just over $50. Wow! And on top of that, we had to add a tip. Just might need to tell you .. the gin martini was over $12! So, the bottom line for us is that this was a meal that we could have had at Applebees or Dennys. For a lot less. Not worth the money. Fine that we had the gift card. We aren't really out the money. But they are in the parking lot of Fred Meyer's! Not particularly attractive of a spot. Will we be back? Probably not. read more

What the heck! I had a raspberry drop last night at the GH location and it was AMAZING. The drink came in a solid ice glass with muddled raspberries in the bottom along with a mini cocktail shaker filled with dreamy, fruity deliciousness. I'm not a huge drinker, but I could have had two or three of them. A shout out to darling Rihanna (I'm not sure of the spelling), who was being trained and rockin' it, and to Deanna who was training Rihanna and slaying it. They were both friendly and fun and efficient. And I have to add that manager Bill was incredibly engaging and helpful. I don't know the young man's name who seated us, but he treated us as though we were in a fine dining restaurant. He was Johnny-on-the spot with the door and made sure we knew he was available if we needed anything. My hubby and I had a great experience. We'll be back! read more

I had heard of the place but just never considered going. Traveled out of town and it was right next to the hotel in Gig harbor. I'm really impressed. And I'm definitely going to be coming back soon. I was indecisive so I had the waiter, his name was Jensen, help me choose everything. I had 3 drinks; the rainbow drop, Strawberry & Mango house margarita, and a huckleberry & raspberry Long Island iced tea. They used real fruit in the drinks. The rainbow drop was in a ice cube shaped like glass inside a stand with 2 skittles at the bottom. I've never liked Long Island Ice teas and I have to say that it was sooooooo delicious!! The house margarita was perfect, although I didn't take a picture of that cause I drank it too fast lol. For dinner I had the morning burger with fries. The fries are hands down the best fries from any establishment I've been to, period! There was not one thing I was even remotely displeased with. I highly recommend this place! read more
