I ordered the fried tofu bao which I wasn't sure what to expect, but it turned out to be a good choice. The fried tofu is paired with nicely seasoned chili sauce in a crispy bun. Since my last review the restaurant has closed and reopened, and expanded their menu, to now include more dumplings and varieties of noodles. They also now have a very handy duo of ordering kiosks, which you order at prior to sitting down. I found their kiosks easy to use, which isn't always a given. This being my first visit back in a while, I had to get the spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles. However I had to try some dumplings, so we shared the lamb dumplings, while my dinner buddy had the spicy cumin lamb rice noodle soup (the same kind of noodles you'd get at a ten second yunnan noodle type of place). They also now have a complimentary side dish bar that has seaweed salad, peanuts, and kimci, as well as some condiment type things like scallions and minced garlic. I helped myself to some seaweed salad to nibble on while waiting for our food, and it was good although food comes out quickly enough that you don't necessarily have to rely on it unless you're really chomping at the bit. The spicy cumin lamb biang biang noodles are just as good as I remember. The biang biang noodles here are perfectly chewy, and the rest of the dish has a lovely flavor aside from just spice. They're generous with lamb and cabbage which add a lot of textural variety to the plate. The lamb dumplings were the sleeper hit of the meal, filled with juicy, tender hunks of lamb surrounded by toothsome clearly hand-rolled wrappers. Absolutely do not skip the lamb dumplings. My dinner buddy really enjoyed her rice noodle soup with spicy cumin lamb, which I think would be a great option on a cold day. Everything is pretty much self serve here, so don't expect full service -- although they did stop by to refill our water once. The food here is so good, though, and prices are so reasonable, that I truly do not care that the experience is pretty bare bones otherwise.

The Chinese name, 全記麵家, has little to do with the name Mike, but is nevertheless an excellent choice for anyone in the area. The staff is very Cantonese through and through. It is a cash only establishment and their menu is heavy on the noodles, be it in soup form or dry. There isn't a ton of room for large groups, but the turnover is quick and thus the weights are usually quite minimal. Service is very good overall and super friendly. I would highly not recommend using their bathroom, as it's tiny, cramped, and not in the best condition. The noodle soups vary from wonton noodles to fishballs. They also specialize in beef brisket and fishballs, making this feel like a bit of a Hong Kong style cafe. Most of the soups average out to be $14-16, depending on size. It's a joy to watch them assemble the bowls in lightning quick fashion. Wontons are excellent. They're plump with just enough skin for texture and are complemented by a fragrant soup and very little skimpage on the noodle (#1). The large dumpling (aka "sui kau") is an excellent wonton alternative for those looking for similar textures. The beef brisket is tender and they also have a dedicated section for just congee. There aren't a lot of places like Mike's anymore, and I wouldn't hesitate for a second for an opportunity to come back. My problem with the place occurred during my second and recent visit here...this time with my family. This time no line (1145) so we were immediately offered a table by the host/waiter who pointed to a 4-top in the corner by the window. We made our way there from the host stand and were led by my son, an extremely polite 25 year old young man. My son believed our table "in the corner by the window" was the one just being cleared by the busser (who turned out to be the manager). My son asked if this was the appropriate table and the busser said no it wasn't and ours was the one the one next to it...and then followed that up by calling my son "stupid." Everyone in our group was extremely caught off-guard, most notably my son who confirmed what we all thought she had said... before she fled back into the employee's back room. Our group took a seat at the table as we clarified once again what had just happened. The host/waiter came over to our table and asked if we wanted anything to get started and what we wanted to drink. I explained to him what had just happened and that's when he informed me that the individual that had called my son stupid was the store manager!! I asked to speak with her and he went and asked her to come out to our table to address us. He returned a few minutes later and said, "that didn't interest her!" I immediately stood up and walked over to the kitchen area near where she initially disappeared from sight. The area was clearly marked employee's only and the waiter asked if I please would not go into the back room. I obliged as I certainly didn't want to make a scene. I explained to the waiter that I was not too pleased with her comments to my son and her behavior overall and that I would return to my seat to see if we would remain or elect to go elsewhere. He responded, "that makes absolute sense. I totally understand." His comments were such and his demeanor overall made me feel that this may not have been an unusual experience and that we may not have been the first customers to have such a negative experience with the manager. Tho, if true, I don't believe he was in any position to confirm or deny anything...which made me feel pretty sad for the waitstaff. Anyhow... we elected to stay as we were: 1) really craving ramen; 2) I had talked up Ramen Danbo to my family; and 3) we were on a rare visit into Seattle. So we did end up staying and enjoying some excellent ramen and excellent service - at least by the remainder of the staff! I did keep an eye out for the duration of our visit and the manager never came out onto the floor while we were there. Noodles seem to be handmade as the texture is a bit uneven, but I appreciate these types of noodles more. Tables are mostly four tops, quite spacious at that, and surrounded by sturdy wooden chairs. I came for dinner on a Friday evening and there were a few other tables at any given time. Service was quick and our water never ran empty. We had the wontons in hot oil, topped with peanuts, I had the beef chow fun, and my dinner buddy had the pork with hot sauce noodles. The wontons are very very good, stuffed with flavorful pork and swimming in a sauce that sits in that perfect spot at the intersection of hot and sour. The peanuts and scallions add a delightful crunch. Their beef chow fun satisfies every bit of childhood nostalgia I have for this dish, with lots of wok hei, bouncy noodles, and the most tender of beef. I think my favorite beef chow fun in the city still lives at A+ Hong Kong Kitchen, but this is a close second. The portion here is also huge. I am a human vacuum and I actually brought leftovers home, which is rare for me. The pork with hot sauce noodles is seemingly a fusion of zha jiang mian and dan dan noodles. My friend really enjoyed it and actually finished the whole thing, which is saying something given that she doesn't usually eat that much. There are so many other items on the menu that I'm eager to try, so I will definitely be back.
