Free ranch? 5 stars. I moved back to Fountain Valley after growing up here a few months ago. I was hesitant to try this place after reading some bad reviews regarding service, cost, quality, etc. I'm not sure what y'all experienced but this burger was delicious. Most local joints have dry burgers or put too much lettuce or not enough thousand island. Not only was the burger juicy, but the cheese was melted perfectly. For 80% of the burger, the balance with the veggies and thousand island was perfect. The end, as it all slides there eventually anyways, there was a tad too much but it was still delicious. The lettuce gave the perfect crunch. Genuinely one of the best burgers I went to. The fries were crispy yet not too crispy. They don't season their fries, which I honestly love so I can season as I want. I dined in and was asked if I wanted ranch and/or ketchup. Normally you have to charge $.25-1 for ranch, but they gave me two containers for free. I think the ranch is homemade, too. It's not too thick and is a bit watery but I honestly liked it. Plus they have yellow peppers and let you get your own, which is amazing. The workers were kind and attentive enough. I don't need nor care for them to be paying attention to me the entire time. My visit was to the Fountain Valley location. This store has a drive through window, as well as seating indoors and on an outdoor patio. The on-site dining can be described as fast casual. You step up to the counter and place your order. If eating there, someone will bring your plate to you. Once seated, indoor table service becomes more akin to a coffee shop. On this occasion, I decided to try the pastrami combo plate -- pastrami sandwich, fries and fountain drink ($22.99). With $2.01 tax, the ticket was $25.00 total. (The sandwich is available à la carte.) If you are a heavy eater, this plate will satisfy you. The sandwich was sizable and made fresh to order. There was plenty of pastrami inside. There's only one thing I could think of at the moment why is the ranch dressing so watered down? I asked somebody who was next to us eating and they said it's always like that lol I definitely plan to come back several several times and I would love to see the ranch dressing not so watered down and if it's not being watered down, whoever you're buying your ranch dressing from you might consider purchasing a different kind, but that's just my opinion. With the convenience of a drive thru - My go to spot for a breakfast burrito on the go! Staff is always friendly, and offers condiments without having to ask. I get the sausage breakfast burrito (they have plenty of other burritos to choose from as well as breakfast items, and more BUT this is the only thing I have ever had from here so my review is solely based on this burrito). The burrito is always nice an hot and packed full with tons of chopped up sausage, eggs, bacon, cheese and shredded hash-browns which are crunchy ( I am a sucker for crispy hash-browns) the layering of everything is usually evenly dispersed so you get everything in one bite. Date of first visit: June 1, 2025 Date of most recent visit: October 13, 2025 I normally don't like leaving bad reviews, but what happened at this restaurant both times I visited was unacceptable -- especially when it involves food safety and respect for customers. On June 1, 2025, I was served raw chicken. When I pointed it out to the waitress, instead of apologizing, she told me, "You need to check your chicken next time." That response really upset me because it's not the customer's job to check if their food is cooked properly -- that's the restaurant's responsibility. She did offer to replace the meal, but by that point, I had lost my appetite and asked for a refund, which she processed. Afterward, I reported the incident to the health inspection department, and they did an inspection. I hadn't returned since then, but on October 13, 2025 (my birthday), my sister invited me back, so I decided to give the restaurant another chance. Unfortunately, it was another terrible experience. From the moment I arrived, one of the waitresses was giving me rude looks and making faces. When she handed me my food, she sarcastically said, "Check your chicken, since last time you complained about it being raw." That comment was extremely rude and uncalled for. I was so upset that I couldn't even enjoy my meal -- I completely lost my appetite and didn't eat because of how disrespected I felt. Honestly just stay away, you're better off driving an hour away for a half decent burger. I came in asked for the most simple order and yet still they managed to make it horrible. I asked for no salt on the fries they double fried them and still served them completely drenched in salt. The burger was 2/10 very greasy, like if those that work here just want to get the day over with. I've been here 1 other time for breakfast, and I was accused of stealing tips from the Jar after leaving a tip inside the Jar. The breakfast was also horrible. I honestly want a refund. When I'm in the mood for a fast food burger, I actually usually opt for Hot off the Grill. I'm not saying the burgers are better than In-N-Out for example, but the burgers are just built different. The burgers are huge, come with a lot of lettuce and sauce, and the something about the ranch here is amazing. The fries are thick cut. Plus, it beats waiting 30 + min in the drive though, since there is usually no wait here. Prices aren't as great as they used to be. Four of my friends and I went to order pickup from Hot of the Grill about a week ago, just after peak lunch hours. As a first-timer, I was surprised by how many food categories they had. Thankfully, I specifically asked for a recommendation to a burger place so I went straight to the burgers but I imagine it could be a little overwhelming to look through all the options. When we came to pick up the food, I noticed the parking lot was quite small. I imagine it could be challenging to find parking during peak hours, but since we came later, we found a spot easily. Inside, the place was relatively quiet with only a handful of people. We were confused when the cashier told us that they were still preparing our food but then that our food was ready just as we left the counter and started exploring the place. Besides that, we had very minimal interaction with the staff when picking up our food. We were out there in maybe 2 minutes. I ordered a double bacon cheeseburger and fries. The burger was juicy, but the Thousand Island dressing was constantly dripping out which made it feel a little too greasy for my liking. The fries seemed unsalted and soggy, even though our drive back was very short. Overall, I didn't feel too satisfied with the food quality.
