It was our first experience (11/11/22) at a hotpot place, so we needed some explanation for the process. No real complaints. I recommend giving it a try. Heads up, they get crowded and busy fast. If you have not been to this restaurant yet, you are truly missing out. I personally have never had Korean BBQ until today and I will tell you it is probably now one of my favorite things. I will definitely be back. The location was extremely clean and our waitress was an absolute blessing. She took the time to explain everything to us and break it down step-by-step. We went at lunchtime right when they open and there was no wait. I took my little one who was able to eat free (1 1/2) however, the tables are not kid friendly. It wasn't safe for her to sit in the booth with us due to being able to reach the hot surfaces. When she was in the highchair it put her right at the buttons that controlled everything for the table. We met friends at Hot Pot 757 for a mid-day Saturday meal. My feelings about the place are varied though overall they did a fine job and though I think we'll rarely go there I won't let that influence my rating too heavily. (Disclaimer: we have gathered with friends countless times at home for traditional Chinese hotpot.) The owners clearly put a lot of money into the renovation and repurposing of the building and it is very fresh and nice looking. The hostess who seated us and the waiter did not spend any time welcoming us much less explaining the in's and out's and options of the menu or how the whole thing works, so after looking over the menu for a while we had to ask them to stop and tell us about how to order, what our choices are based on the prices we're seeing. The menu offered a range of protein options common to American dining as well as traditional Chinese features you might expect to see like pig intestines or Korean beef bulgogi. If we didn't have hotpot with our friends several times a year I might be more interested to come back to Hot Pot 757, but for the price I doubt we would have any reason to go back. read more

Good Korean BBQ and Hot Pots. Very clean and good vibe. I got BBQ and was pleased with portions and quality of meats. My favorite was the short ribs and curry chicken. We also got hot pots which makes the meal too large in my opinion and glutinous. We polished off a bunch of meats and seafood. Salad bar is average with kimchi and other lite fare. Enjoy your visit. Honestly I wanted to like this place because it's a AYCE place for hot pot and kbbq that's close to me. I had to wait 30 minutes to come in which is fine. Not bad at all. They had a good variety of different flavors and food. If we're just counting on that alone, it's worth the price. However after I put the ingredients in my soup, I mixed it around and found a dead fly in my soup. The waiter did replace my soup. I did go for the original style, but the broth didn't taste like anything at all. I don't recommend the original flavor. I mixed a concoction of sauces from the sauce bar for some sort of flavor. Mid meal, another fly was flying around the food. Honestly I really hope this is just bad luck and just chance that it was only this one occasion. I keep hearing so many good things about this place so I just hope that it's just this one experience for them. Two stars because the price is good for the variety of food and the staff is amazing. Hot Pot 757 is a pretty standard hot pot place that isn't all that special. We paid for only the hot pot meal which was about $30 per person. I ordered a mushroom soup base. Okay, let me just get this straight: hot pot is only cool just because you cook it yourself, and that's about it. That, in itself, is gonna be a hot take for some folks, but honestly, when you think about the food you're getting, it's literally not that special. It's basically impossible to get $30 worth of food ordering at this place because you'd have to order only meat and seafood--nothing else because the carbs will fill you up so fast. At the same time, the carbs are almost--equally so with the protein--the star of the show as well. The protein that you're eating is basically boiled in your soup base--which isn't too bad and actually quite tasty. And yup, that's about it. You need sauce to dip all of the food you cook because it's so bland. Now, it may seem like I'm a hot pot hater, but I'm not. I love hot pot. It's just that for hot pot to shine, it needs to have freshness and flavor. The soup base is flavorful, the toppings... not so much. The sauces they recommend are okay. The service is top-notch, but that's because they don't have to do anything to get your food out except put it on a plate. If you think about it, hot pot places are so profitable for this exact reason because YOU cook the food! They don't even need to season or cook anything! Just put it out on the plate, and call it a day! And 99% of people are not going to get their money's worth, so it all works out. The experience is nice, the cooking is almost instant, but the food is just lackluster. I've had this rapidly growing restaurant chain in Virginia Beach, and I can tell you that this one located in the 804 is far better than the one in the 757 ironically. The experience is better, and the service is much better too. However, you're just paying for the experience. The KBBQ isn't too special because it legit couldn't cook meat on the plate (HUH?) based on my previous experience at the 757. That's pretty horrendous for KBBQ. Anyways, go here to try it out, but don't come back because with your party of two, three, or even six and above, you can get so much more value for what you're paying for. read more

I wanna preface that we only got the Korean BBQ, can't speak on the hot pot. The service was incredibly kind and quick. There was a bar where you made your own sauces and some smaller side dishes like kimchi and chicken feet, and those were pretty good too. I removed two stars, because sadly I found the meat to be flavorless, and the sauces didn't help. The spicy meat did luckily have some flavor, but unfortunately I didn't find them to be spicy. The vibe I got from the food and the restaurant as a whole was that it was targeted towards westerners, and it didn't feel very authentic. If you want authentic Korean barbecue, I wouldn't recommend this place, but everything else seemed to be fine. I would come back to try the hot pot though read more

My wife and I went for lunch and we really enjoyed ourselves. Walking in the place is huge but it's not to bright or to dark. We were seated and before we could sit down they had waters and were ready to take our order. The service was great they came by a lot to check on you or the help you. Didn't have rice paper but hey, it's a hit or miss with those at kbbq's. The meat is thick enough for you to taste which was great and they have a salad and sauce bar that's self serve. BEYOND excited that there's finally an AYCE hot pot spot in Richmond! I've been to Hot Pot 757 in Virginia Beach, but the Richmond location beats that one for sure! The lighting compared to the original one is a lot brighter and there is ample space. I didn't see a table where there wasn't individual hot pot settings rather than family style type hot pot with one pot in the middle for everyone to share (I prefer this so I can try different broths). I chose the beef butter style option and it has a bit of a kick to it and wasn't entirely too fatty. The food quality and options were phenomenal for an AYCE hot pot restaurant that is only $27.99 especially since there is prime brisket, sliced lamb, and even blue crab! The server was very attentive and friendly. He kept making sure that weren't waiting to order more. The sauce/appetizer bar also had a variety of options and the smashed cucumber was *chefs kisssss*. We went on a weekday around dinner time and only had to wait about 10 minutes before we were seated. The only downside I can think of is the fact that you may have to share a table with other people and I can see how that could be slightly uncomfortable. It's ok hotpot. You do get a lot of options for hotpot selection and BBQ. We tried both, and the BBQ was probably slightly better than the hotpot. The service was good, but if busy they can mess some drink orders up since it's not automated like the meats and stuff. Several key sauces were missing that distinguishes an ok hotpot place from a great hotpot place, which include garlic chives and stinky tofu paste. First time visiting for Sunday lunch. You go in and sit down at a table with a burner to keep your soup hot while you are eating. First thing you do after sitting is order your drink, soup and what meat, fish and vegetables you want them to bring. You then go to the bar and get a salad and a mix of sauces to dip your food into after you cook it in the hot plate or soup bowl. Service is great. If you finish what you order you can order more, but be sure you can eat it. They charge one price for the meal. Drinks are additional. There is a two hour time limit at the table. Cook your own food at the table. Great atmosphere. Kids welcome but, be careful the table hot plate could cause a burn. Will be back. read more

Being that this is the only "official" Hot Pot place in RVA, it's definitely busy! Luckily we did an early dinner which allowed us to beat the dinner crowd. It's an all you can eat experience. You can do just hot pot, just Korean bbq, or both. I'm giving it 3 stars because FOR ME, it wasn't worth it. The Korean bbq is good and if I ever went back, I would only get that. With the hot pot, I found myself googling what certain broths were and in the end what I chose was very bland. Lol they have a bar of sauces that you can add but again, I didn't know what would taste well with what I was ordering. My experience was worth maybe $20 max and I spent double that. read more

My friend and I and went to hot pot 757 for our friends birthday dinner and upon seeing the menu, decided it would be in our best interests to just get one meal and split it, knowing we weren't going to need a full course all to ourselves and that we needed to save money. We asked our waitress if we were allowed to split our meal and she said yes, her lack of mention of price indicating that the cost would be split, and that was that. We didn't think anything of it afterwards and were given one soup instead of two and enough servings for one. However, when it came time to get our checks, we were BOTH told to pay $50 each and when we asked the waitress if it was a mistake she said no and that this was how the policy works. Of course we paid but honestly we both feel incredibly taken aback at how shifty this entire ordeal was, as she could have mentioned that the cost would still be the same for each of us even if we shared AND had less food, and I'm absolutely positive this wouldn't have happened had we not been teenagers. So terrible of a business to take advantage like that. Will not be coming back and also will be warning my friends and family of the way this was handled. read more

There is no one to give you an overview of the process and you do run the risk of undercooking and even overcooking your food.
