Celebrating my niece's birthday in Honolulu, Hawaii... I've wanted to dine at Hot Pot Heaven, so I'm glad that this restaurant was chosen for our family dinner. Located on the ground level of McCully Shopping Center, tables were arranged for the 12 of us to sit together. Groups of 4 shared one pot each. My table had a split pot because my nephew, sitting across from me, had kimchee broth and I chose tofu broth. We ordered certain meats from our server. I got the pork belly, tongue, and ribeye. They were all sliced thinly for quick cooking! The refrigerators were filled with such a variety! I narrowed down my choices to pumpkin, Chinese cabbage, fish cake, shrimp wontons, tofu, and snow peas. Yum! Service was polite and attentive. Our glasses of water were filled a few times and we were given more napkins. We were allowed to bring in a birthday dessert even though our meal included an assortment of 4 different flavors of mochi ice cream! Yay! My daughter and I stopped by for dinner, and were lucky to find parking in front of McCully Shopping Center without problem. I ordered the miso broth with rib eye, and my daughter ordered the thai broth, med heat with brisket. The broth and meat arrived right away, and we were able to enjoy the rich broth with vegetables, meat, gyoza, and tofu. I came here for dinner with a friend. I like the concept where you can grab your own plates from the refrigerator. They have an ok selection of veggies and seafoods. The meats are brought out by the server. There was a long black hair in our pork belly, but the server took it back and brought out a fresh order (I could tell it was a new order because the one with the hair had been sitting on our table, and the new order was obviously still chilled). My friend and I like coming here after getting our nails done next door. Very conveniently located at McCully Shopping center and plenty of parking in front or below. Parking here is not the best... too many businesses for the lot outside. There's more parking around the area but I don't bother with that. The whole McCully area is a mess when it comes to traffic, so I personally try to avoid this area. Friends wanted to check it out so I obliged. I'm not the biggest fan of hot pots especially with a group mainly because everyone's items are just floating around and up for grabs I guess. So needless to say, you'll need a good group of friends that actually don't skimp when it comes to foods or the bill. My circle is small, but quality over quantity is my priority. We had no problems getting a table during rush hour traffic time (5-6pm). Seated right away with prompt service, waters given and order taken for broth type. There were large refrigerators where you choose items and depending on colored plates, the prices varied. Choices ranged from various noodles, meats and veggies. Along with broth and add in choices there were many toppings and sauces. Overall we enjoyed our meal and service. Personally I probably won't be back to this location as it's way out of my neighborhood. But I'm glad to see they've expanded to Kapolei and I have and will visit there more often. The only thing I would say is that I hate this parking lot w a passion. But if you're lucky you might be able to squeeze in a stall and check this place out. The staff is very nice and quick to help. If you plan on beating the rush try to go before or by 6:30p. My favorite broth here is their Thai Broth. It's a little bit of sour, savory, and spicy. The name couldn't get more real. I've only had hot pot twice this being my second & I would come here again & bring my other half with me to try. I had the mushroom broth & it's great because it literally comes with a medley of mushrooms so you don't have to buy a plate to add it in. They have fridges fully stocked with goodies to add into your hot pot. Each plate is color coated by price which is right next to your table so you know how much you're spending. I'd say they have a very good variety & also offer a station to make your own sauces. The service we received was superb, I went with a friend who's is a regular there so she told me how to order and how she gets down when eating here. Parking can be tricky in this shopping center but I know they offer underground parking. We were lucky enough to get parking right near the restaurant during lunchtime on a weekday. AH! They usually only have 2 servers and they are always working hard. The food is great. They jave all your typical meats, seafood, amd veggies. You choose a broth & the broths vary alot by price! Plus, we didn't know that if you order 1 broth, you get the 2nd one 50% off. I didn't like that there were only 2 burners for the 6 of us! Menu is attached to wall for no hands touching. Got 2 plates of pork and 2 plates of beef. Ordered the thai broth while my partner got miso broth. Dipping sauces are in individual packets and you must wear gloves while grabbing sides from the refrigerator. One of the better hot pots I've been to. I mostly look forward to the meats and ingredients used for the hot pot but I was very surprised that the broth was very well made and tasted really good. Ingredients were also fresh and presented well. Not to mention their Thai Tea was also very good. Not too sweet, just right. Only thing I can say is I wish they had a little bit more options for their sauce bar but everything else was too good and having a simpler sauce was just as good. Service was really good too! Our sever was very attentive to our table and kept refilling our broth (since the broth was sooo good) and also gave us recommendations on what certain vegetables and noodles are better for the broths we chose. This is the first time I tried a Hot Pot place in Oahu and it did not disappoint. The place was cozy, well ventilated. It looks like a Chinese Restaurant but more chill and doesn't have any uneven smell. My husband said it get's crowded in that place so we called before we came in and the staff said just walk-in so we did. But after we ate (around 12:30pm Sunday), there's already a line outside so it's better to call/plan ahead. The service crew was super friendly, very attentive, polite and generous too cos He gave us complimentary desserts, Mochi Ice Cream because He knew its our first time in their restaurant. We ordered Seafood Broth, then 3 meat (rib eye, beef tongue and pork belly). It was a fun experience too because you get to choose your of veggies, dimsum, noodles and other food displayed on their refrigerators with clear doors. We got Bochoy, Baby Mushroom, Fish Ball and Pho Noodles. We wished that we only ordered 1 or 2 meat because it was too much for us - it's just me and my husband. The taste of the broth is spot-on! We wanted a not so spicy broth but rich in flavor and we're glad the staff recommended the Seafood Broth. I think their Thai broth was the famous one but it's too spicy for us. One of our favorite hot pot restaurant! Located in Mccully Shopping Center. Parking in front or in the garage! There is also another in Pearl Kai & Kapolei now. We used to come here all the time! The owners are awesome too! So kind, friendly and hard working! Lots of seating and spacious! Our favorite broth is the Kimchee Broth! They have the best Thai broth I've ever tried. Nothing compares. Their Thai tea is also a must try. I love that we can grab whatever sides and sauces we want for the hot pot. Went to this place with a friend at night and it was a liiiiittle hard to spot, but it's right by the staircase towards the end by Taco bell(?) on the corner. The way they do it is by colored plates (like at a conveyer belt sushi place) and every plate color is a different price. If you're going for a casual meal with people it's good. But if y'all are like starving and ready to load up, I may suggest finding an all you can eat hotpot place. The broths we tried were Spicy Thai and the Mushroom and they were good! Spicy Thai was THE best, so freakin good. And the mushroom broth comes loaded with different kinds of mushroom so you don't need to necessarily grab and of the prepped mushroom plates from the fridge. The flavors actually really balanced each other out. The spicy Thai side for when you want your meats/items nicely flavored with spicy Thai, but the mushroom side when you want the flavor of whatever meat or veggie you're cooking to stand out more. I think the two of us spent maybe.. $80-ish by the end? $40 each.. don't know if I'd go again when I'm super hungry lol but I may go again because it's yummy. read more
