    Shaking Beef
    Brett N.

Why 5 stars? Because this is a really great option in my neck of the woods. --- --- --- I had been stalking the opening of Hot Stone Bowl for months, every time I drove past it. And after long last, it finally opened. I planned on going in myself, but my wife was going to be driving right by it anyway, so she called in an order and brought it home. I ordered a pork banh mi and shaking beef with fried rice. Don't judge me for ordering two entrees, I played basketball that morning and had not consumed a single calorie until this arrived on my table. The banh mi was solid. Not on my Mount Rushmore of banh mi, but certainly not bad. The bread was the best part: it was pillowy soft. The shaking beef was awesome. I could absolutely eat this on a regular basis. High quality meat, perfectly seasoned. It also weirdly came with some fries that were pretty unforgettable, but the beef and rice was primo. With how close to the house this is, I'm sure we will be from time to time!

Pho /Brisket, grilled pork spring rolls @Vietnamese, I always test spring rolls. They serve with a sauce that I believe hoisin sauce base, sweet and light. I asked them if they have peanut sauce , they have almond sauce. Just ask them, it's delicious. Pho soup was delicious. Flavorful. I could smell fish sauce so maybe they drizzle on the top?! Not sure.. but some people may find it too much. Came with lots of briskets, very tender and thick. I wish they give me more bean sprouts and fresher toppings but understandable! I will be back!

Nothing special about this place other than it's cleanliness and ambiance. The inside is very spacious and modern. The food, on the other hand, was not awesome. The bread for the banh mi had little to no butter on it, and the pork lacked flavor. It needed more cilantro as well. The worst part... they charge $1 for sriracha sauce, which I personally find insane.

I ate the whole thing and it wad great

1stvtime here, great atmosphere. I got the braised shrimp with eggfried rice. The dipping sauce was absolutely drinkable. Loved it. I will come to check out the banh mi next time

One of the best beef pho I've ever had. If I had room to eat anymore I would order 2 bowls .

Hot Stone Bowl is a new Vietnamese restaurant, they have a very clean and open dining area, but the tables and chairs are too close to each other and not handicap accessible as far as sitting and getting around. My fiancé is legally blind and it was very hard to navigate the restaurant to get you the table they sat us at, it was impossible not to bump into other chairs. The menu is lacking on pho with no chicken not seafood options. We did order a custom pho ga, where they substituted the beef out for chicken, but they have no correctly made broth. The broth is heavy on fish sauce and salt with no automatic spice or flavor, it was nothing more then water with salt, fish sauce, about it. They had both chicken and beef in the bowl when the only requested meat was chicken. Their egg rolls were over cooked and not very tasty at all. They forgot the banh mi combination sandwich we ordered was completely forgotten about and we never got it. Finally, the amount of sauce you get for your pho is a joke. They give you a small sparkle of each in a cute little bowl, very little brand sprouts and only 1 lime slices with 2 small slices of jalapeños, The employees are nice though, but when paying for the food we ended up not eating at all, i had asked for a receipt which was printed but the lady at the counter walked away and didn't give it to me. So we just left. I do not recommend coming here, they are neither a Vietnamese sandwich shop nor a pho shop, plus they are not even using authentic ingredients.

This is a new place just outside of Del Webb on 1488. Very inviting with an open kitchen and plenty of seating. Staff greats you as you walk in and we were seated immediately. Portions were just a bit on the small size but flavor made up for that. The fao was rich and full of flavor. I loved the fresh spring rolls with pork and shrimp, the mint in them was perfect. The lack of a star was for service. Even though or waitress was friendly and pleasant she never came back around to refill drinks. Still an amazing place and you should try this one. Oh did I mention that the kitchen and dining area were spotless?

Lavender lemonade is amazing and refreshing on a hot summer day!

Came for lunch service was amazing! Liked most of what I ordered minus the spring rolls atmosphere was very clean and simple. Price was fair didn't get to try any of the pho will have to wait until next visit .

The inside of the restaurant is totally gorgeous- it felt like a really nice restaurant and the staff was super nice and attentive. The ambiance was great, they played joji too so that's a win. The food was also really great, the rice bowl came with soup which was super interesting; pork and pumpkin soup. It was very very good. A lady, presumably the owner came and talked to us and asked how the food was- she was super sweet, I hope I see her next time !!

Wow, disappointing as someone who goes to a lot of Vietnamese restaurants this one by far was the most tamed down, the bread was stale, the curry was watery and just a bad representation of what the food is like... the service on the other hand was stellar she was very attentive and was able to tell use what we should get; the vibe inside was very posh for the area a good place for a date if they improve their food quality. Hoping they do as the area needs more choices

However, there were very few bean sprouts, but plenty of basil. There was such a small portion of the rice noodles. When I placed my door dash order I noticed that there was an option to add extra noodles for $4. Extra veggies (bean sprouts, lime, jalapeño and basil) is $3. That's on top of already paying $21 for the large Pho because I add "extra beef ball" that is $4. And this round, there was a huge chunk of gristle in a piece of the meatball. The brisket was also fatty and had hard pieces that cannot be eaten. It is frustrating that they reduce the portion and charge you extra to actually get the portion you're paying for. The broth is still very good. I was in such a rush yesterday preparing for the freeze that's coming, that I failed to take a picture. Consistently disappointed with the food delivery. I'm going to visit in person and see what's different. Because there shouldn't be any difference.

As takeout, we expected better timeliness on our food coming out and ended up waiting about 30 minutes (after asking the workers twice) for everything to arrive. Other than the popcorn chicken, everything else is a food that can be assembled right at the front-- yet we saw none of that happening for a really long time. We're viet-- we know how spring rolls and banh mi are made and these are very simple, fast foods to assemble. There seemed to be only three workers in the front but were scattered and walking around without clear direction of what they needed to do. Also, they ran out of receipt paper but didn't tell us anything about what our order number was until we had to go in the front to ask after a while of our food not coming out. When we asked a second time about the status of our order they finally started on making our milk tea. As for the spring rolls, i could tell the person assembling them might be on the newer side since she was rolling and wrapping a little slowly. However, i was disappointed that when i opened my order, the rice paper wasn't even wrapped all the way around and ingredients spilled all over. it was quite a messy lunch for the amount of time we waited. ALSO, they didn't have my peanut sauce. The food was genuinely very good and i'm decently satisfied with the food quality, but I'm pretty upset about the lack of attention put into a meal that my family and I were waiting all this time on. especially since there was so little customers in the store at the time. Note for the workers that typically takeout orders should be one of the quicker orders to come out. we were heading to the airport and came in to a spring rolls place expecting a quick and simple lunch to bring in. I recommend coming for the quality ingredients and food. it was enjoyable and not bad if you want authentic Viet. However, you might also have to expect supppper slow service and workers that won't really pay attention to you unless you speak up.

Their bánh khọt was crispy, sweet and savory, and went well with the fish sauce. Although the portions initally look small, they are very filling. The bò né was filling and sizzling when it came out. It also came with a side of salad. The meat was tender. I really liked the bánh khọt and would definitely come back for them. I couldn't have been more wrong. Xeo Yum (#1) as it turns out is one of the most legit Vietnamese places in Midtown serving up some of the city's best banh xeo and banh khot. Located inside of a Food Hall (#2) in the back corner, they have low-key become a destination and without question, the most popular stall in the entire place. The fan base didn't happen overnight but is a direct result of Chef Cuong Nguyen's commitment to quality Vietnamese fare. Banh Xeo is their signature item, which is also known as a sizzling crepe or pancake made of rice flour, tumeric, and coconut milk. The banh xeo holds well, is perfectly crispy, and is nicely stuffed with an assortment of beans sprouts, shrimp, and some of the best grilled pork belly I've had. Another specialty item that doesn't get enough mention is their banh khot, which is similar but has a mini muffin / cupcake like appearance made in a specialty cast iron mold. This version is wonderfully crispy and pairs perfectly with fresh greens and fish sauce with some funk. It is my favorite item here. Some have argued they also serve one of the best bo ne (#3), the Vietnamese version of steak and eggs served in a skillet. The chunks of beef are nice and tender with just a tad of char, served with two fried eggs, and a banh mi baguette with a mix of butter and spare. Normally I think of spam or sausage included with the meats, but Chef Cuong's spin is with cherry tomatoes. It's a different approach and I'm not mad at it. Folks not looking for this can shoot for bo luc lac, aka shaking beef, which is also recommended. The staff here is sweet, hard-working, and very friendly. They also make a mean Vietnamese coffee and offer free iced self-serve water. The prices are what I would expect in a Midtown food hall, and there's plenty of seating. Anyone checking out the food hall need to make Xeo Yum as part of their eating itinerary. __________ (#1) A play on the Vietnamese sizzling crepe, Banh "xeo" and yum" (#2) Previously the Conservatory and now Stestí Food Hall. The meat tasted like it had been sitting for a while and then reheated it was rubbery, tough, and had that old, off flavor. The broth was also a huge letdown. Pho is supposed to be rich, aromatic, and full of depth, but this one had almost no flavor at all. I even asked ahead of time if the soup would include cartilage, which is usually part of a proper pho, and was told yes, but it wasn't there. What really concerned me was finding fruit flies in the soup. That raised serious questions about cleanliness and food handling, especially if soups are being left uncovered. One thing that also stood out was that, although this is presented as a Vietnamese restaurant, the kitchen staff did not appear to be Vietnamese. While anyone can cook any cuisine, authenticity and attention to traditional flavors really matter, and based on the taste of the food, that authenticity seemed to be missing. When the bill came, I calmly explained everything, expecting at least some acknowledgment or effort to make it right, but nothing meaningful was done. Between the poor food quality, the cleanliness concerns, and the lack of response from staff, this was a very disappointing experience and I wouldn't return.

Not the good bahn mi bread that a traditional Vietnamese store would use. Sadly there was not much meat in the bun either. For $11 after tax and tip, that's just really disappointing. If you read their history on Yelp (by owner "Sergio M" - doesn't sound very Vietnamese) it talks about a family owned and operated shop. But I didn't see any Asian workers there at all anywhere.
