I booked this hotel for the night for a getaway with my friend. When we arrived to valet a car, we had to search for someone to take our car. The valet forgot to give us a ticket and had to come to our room later in the evening which I found a little strange. The room wasn't bad. I understood by the rate it was not going to be outstanding. But in the morning, I jumped in the shower only to find little tiny black wormlike things crawling all along the tiles on the floor of the shower. They were everywhere in the lining of the tiles. Grossed out we decided to skip the pool day planned and check out early. When I went to the front desk to explain and share the video I took of the larvae, he was shocked and I think grossed out as well. He assured me my valet at the very least would be comped. (Still on my bank statement). He told me he manager was not there and would not arrive until 10:30 so we should wait. We waited and waited and waited. No manager. After a couple hours without anyone showing up, we decided to leave taking the managers card. I was initially worried due to the Zika outbreak in Miami and being unsure of what kind of insect would spawn from the bugs we found. I waited for an email, call or anything and no contact was made by their end. Only until I emailed with the word Zika in it did I get a response. Which basically said no Zika we will get back to you... I am not a big complainer and this is not really my style. The hotel itself has a very warm and upbeat feel to it. Staff are always very helpful and eager to assist you at all hours of the day. However, my favorite part is their coffee, the man that makes it at their little café is ever so charming ; the coffee is always hot and very well made. Also, the restaurant is amazing, the waitresses always have smiles on their faces and their one manager, she is so sweet, always checking on the guest making sure their meal is superb. But the upkeep of the property, the faltering air conditioning (77 degrees in the rooms), nobody answering the phone at front desk, gave an overall not-so-great experience. This hotel is in my top 5 of hotel stays. The decoration is remarkable inside, especially the pool area, which gives off a super-natural type of vibe. There is a wolf painted on one of the walls outside near the pool (so dope)!! I only stayed one night here, but I could definitely see myself booking again at this location. My room was nicely decorated, CLEANNNNNNN, full bar, and cable TV. The staff was very friendly as well. What I'm about to say is probably lame, but they have good water in the lobby area LOL. When checking in at midnight very tired from a long day and wanting just to do valet we were told by the front desk just to leave the car outside. Then the valet said we can't leave the car there and have to wait for him till he goes to the garage which is a few blocks away and come back. Next day we ordered the valet 1/2 hour before our departure as we were told. We came down 20 minutes later and they put the car back in the garage. We told them we were very not satisfied and would like a refund they said they will call us and let us know what they can do and never called and charge is still there. Oh, and also the fire alarm battery was low and was beeping and when coming into the room for the first time found a damp towel hanging in the bathroom. Never staying there again! read more

This hotel is the worst. Stayed here on a Thursday night. Hallways were loud but I got used to it because I really had no choice. But then, while I was sleeping at 530-6am, the door to my room unlocked. And The manager and a couple just came into my room. I was sleeping. I was so dumbfounded that I said hello? Then the door closed and I got up. And followed them into the hallway. Shocked. The manager just said I'm sorry. I'm sorry. And the couple just stared at me. How does this happen? Yoga Under the Stars was a wonderful event. It was organized by Annette Figueredo and the class was led by 2 wonderful instructors Silvina and Bethany, all from the Croydon Rose Yoga Spa. What a beautiful location to do yoga on a rooftop as the sun was setting. And, Silvina and Bethany were so wonderful; one led the class as the other demonstrated and walked around giving everyone individual attention. I'll go back for sure. read more

I loved this hotel from the moment the bellman opened the door for us! I felt the ambiance was very unique, clean and innovative. Our room was very comfortable and we loved the shower and the cozy bed. It was very quiet in the room so my boyfriend and I were able to sleep in for once, which is usually hard to find in Miami. We also loved the location, it is right across the street from the beach and walking distance from many stores and restaurants. This hotel is just beautiful! The rooms are immaculate and comfortable. The staff is professional and accommodating. I had the BEST massage of my life in the in house spa. All around wonderful. Literally the only complaint I have is they run a loop of club music in the pool area that is tantamount to water torture. I asked a few people around me at the pool if they were enjoying it and they said,"it's not relaxing at all". Silence would be great. Everyone had a personal device they could use to listen to music of their choosing. read more

Honestly, I read the reviews and thought that we would not have any issues. Our expectations were way too high. First the walls were too thin, we could hear EVERYTHING going on at the hotel. The pool area had only a few people outside yet all the lounge chairs had dirt and soaking wet covers. Finally, when we tried to get our car from the valet, they said it would be 30 minutes. We waited and returned - only to find out that our car was never sent for. Making it close to an hour!!!!! When we complained (especially the fact that this could have affected a flight, if we had one), both women at the desk looked at us like we were speaking another language. No apologies, and the valet expected us to tip him! Just because the furniture is nice, does not give the staff the right to provide horrible service. SUMMARY: Overpriced hotel with POOR SERVICE. I am giving it 2 stars only because the room was clean. I was better off at a Motel 6, at least the service would have been better. read more

Just got back from a stay at Hotel Croydon and from our first trip to Miami Beach! Overall: I would give the hotel experience a 3.5. Not terrible, overall it was fine but given the choice, we wouldn't stay here again. Explanations below Location: the actual hotel is in Mid Beach. Which is fine if you are looking for a quieter scene, easy access to a nice beach (just a quick walk across the street) and plan to stay mostly at the hotel. It's a good 5/10 minute walk to anything. Even another restaurant option or cvs. We ended up walking to Lincoln Road Mall area one time which took about 45 minutes and South Beach is probably another 15/20 minute walk from there. Needless to say we ended up uber pooling a lot which was cheap (usually under 4 bucks each way). There is a free trolley which we successfully used once to get to Lincoln Mall Road. We tried a second time and the trolley passed us twice because it was overly full. This resulted in us waiting at the bus stop for about 30/40 minutes until we gave up and walked back to the hotel. It does look like the area has some potential to be more vibrant in the coming years though so location may be less of an issue. A Starbucks was about to open down the street when we were there. Staff: Rosie waited on us twice for dinner (one time for a dessert only dinner :)) and she was great! Very sweet and attentive. The front desk staff were also very nice and were helpful. With that said, my overall take away was that it seems that the hotel is under staffed. During peak times there were three or four people waiting for something at the front desk because there was only one or two staff at the desk. Additionally our room was only cleaned twice during our five night stay. And we had to request that to happen... when asked if that was policy they said no and that the cleaning staff comes during the day between 9 and 430. We would routinely leave our room by 9/10 and not return until 230/330 every day. Just seemed weird that that wasn't a big enough window for someone to come and clean it. We even had a "please clean our room sign on our door" and no one would even knock to see if they could come in while we were there. Finally the first full day we were there it rained all day and there was high wind. This resulted in tree branches and palm leaves etc to be in the pool the next day. (Which turned out to be an excellent pool day). We went down to the pool in the late afternoon and the pool hadn't been cleaned so it wasn't as appealing as you would expect from a hotel. So while the staff were overall nice and accommodating, they need more of them or something. Room: we stayed in a king room. As someone that lived in a studio in Chicago, it was a very small room. Like not enough space to leave out your suitcase for the duration of your stay. We ended up unpacking and stashing our suitcases in the closet. But there was enough hangers so we ended up stacking a lot of clothes. With that said, the rooms were nicely decorated and seemed to be clean. The bed was also very comfortable... we just bought a new king bed and both of us wished the hotel bed was ours instead. Finally because the rooms are so small the doors are very close to the hallway outside. This means it lets in (and out) a lot of noise. I was woken up a few nights from people coming home late from the bars. Not a big deal but worth noting if you get cranky from being woken up. Also no balcony. Hotel Food: Tavern (hotel restaurant) was good with excellent portions. We were always pleased with our food choices. It's open 24hrs a day. It's a little weird to get a table as there is no hostess station on the side connected to the hotel so when it's busy a lot of people just end up wandering around looking for guidance on where to sit/go. (Restaurant has entrance on the street open to the public where the hostess stand is). The hotel includes an automatic 15% tip in all bills... so don't feel you need to leave cash. Finally ever night the hotel offers a free happy hour for guests from 7-8pm. The drinks were always well poured. But again the service was slow because I feel like we only saw one bartender every time we were down there. Hotel "perks": roof top is pretty awesome with glimpses of the ocean. But the pool is on the ground level/not on the roof... for some reason I thought it was on the roof when I booked the hotel. The hotel includes a "gym" but is very barely a gym. Has a treadmill, a couple of rowing machines, weights and a bike. Oh and it has a punching bag. It's also a yoga studio. We used it only once and only one other person was up there and she was kind of just hanging out in the yoga spot. Additionally there was no sign on the outside of the room indicating it was the gym. So we just walked around on the floor with the gym key we were given to see if it would open something. Turns out it's in the massage room area.... also weird. read more

Horrible experience! I walked in and there was a man with a Beard at the front counter. He didn't even greet you as you walk in. He was rude and not Customer service. As I said I walked in and I approached him and I asked him that I had just reserved a rm. I asked him if they had parking he answered that it would be $42.80 I'm additional me paying $100 for the night. Yet he suggested that I can park anywhere outside and get a ticket for $18 which he said it would be cheaper. I asked to speak to a manager there was no manager around. He talked like he doesn't like his job and didn't seem polite. For every question I asked it seemed to him an obligation instead of him being customer service. He wouldn't answer my questions that I had. I felt disgusted because I had a long day and the least you want to go through is that someone is unwelcoming to you. I payed $100 a night. this hotel is sorta terrible. My room was small and uncomfortable and had no heat. There was no water pressure, no coffee maker in the room, and there were no counters to put anything on. The soap holder in the shower was so poorly designed that nothing you put on it would stay, it was like a gate and everything would fall through. On top of the fact that I had had a late night flight so when I got here in the morning i was dying to get in a room, shower and take a nap. They ended up checking me in at 3! read more

Like some other reviewers...there is a bit of hallway noise (we heard a couple of our neighbors fighting and swearing pretty loudly, at one point thought we might have to report them); but honestly once we were in our room it was quiet and peaceful. I'm more impressed I'll say with the hotel than the other guests (spring break, there were some weird people around who thought it was appropriate to sit in the hallways drinking and talking on their phones, blocking pathways????). My stay at the Croydon was surprisingly very pleasant. The staff was very attentive throughout my 5 night stay, but lacked in support. There isn't much to eat at the restaurant located inside the hotel or many options within the vicinity of the Croydon either. The location is a bit if a pain. Furthermore, the hotel's menu is very limited and they were out of two items (burgers & lobster rolls) for the duration of my stay. The room was clean initially, but as we went into day 2 through 4 no cleaning was evident, just making of the bed. The bathroom products, I.e. shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc. were never replaced & I complained to the front desk & they quickly provided. The floors were never swept or shower cleaned out because sand was in the room, shower, and floor of bathroom from my days at the beach. We were never in our 2 queen room 615,l; therefore, they had all day to clean. The location is an 8 minute ride to Ocean Blvd that costs about $7 with uber. The hotel lacks a real gym, it only has a boxing bag, but no free weights, machines, or cardio equipment. The bed was very comfy and the towels. Overall, I would stay again & the hotel is beautifully remodeled. And the pool closes at 6pm...The hotel's airport shuttle is greeeat! read more

Rooftop sun decks, yoga and wellness programs, spa, pool, restaurant/bar (The Tavern), etc make the somewhat steep rates more acceptable. Free shuttle transportation to the airport is also included. Not a place to stay if you actually sleep at night. The sound attenuation is non-existent. If someone is 40 feet down the hallway and literally whispering, you can still hear their every word from inside your room with the door closed. Bathroom tile looks like travertine but Is actually cheap ceramic tile. Some staff is surly while some is nice. Overpriced. No convenient parking and Valet parking is $36. By far the best service in Miami Beach. From a quick and easy check-in process, to the overly-friendly staff, this hotel is amazing. The restaurant staff are great, and the manager Gabi will do anything in her power to make you happy. The food and beverage manager and server Wendy held conversations with us for over 30 minutes one day... Just plain genuine people with great attitudes. My review is mixed about this hotel. QUICK SUMMARY: CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD STATEMENT AFTER YOU CHECK OUT. We had a wonderful stay- enjoyed our room, service was great, the rooftop lounge chairs were SO COMFORTABLE and relaxing, especially while we sipped drinks from the bar. The free happy hour from 6-7pm was AMAZING- yes, it's true, FREE simple mixer drinks (vodka, rum, tequila with one or two mixers). We even stayed and had dinner at the bar after the happy hour and we thought our meals were pretty delicious as well. The walk to the beach was quick and easy too. The valet parking was meh- $40 is expensive, but not worth risking parking on the street and getting a ticket from letting the meter run out. so overall, we left feeling good about our stay. HOWEVER!! when we returned home, we realized we had a $150 charge on our credit card for a "missing ipod stand" from the room. We did not even see an ipod stand, and what we think was the ipod stand is also the clock (which is basically a 1 ft by 6in block). We did not take the ipod stand/clock and thought it was offensive and rude to assume that we stole from the hotel. We called and disputed the charge, we were told they would look into and ask the maids (we weren't even making the assumption that the maids had stolen either, we were just telling them that we didn't take the ipod stand). We did receive an e-mail saying that the manager would be in touch with us. It's been over a week and we have not heard from the manager. If we don't hear by the end of the week, we will dispute the charge with the credit card company. We were disappointed because we did enjoy our stay, but now we are wondering if this is just part of a scam- they probably get $150 from so many people who don't 1. check their credit card statement or 2. don't take the time and energy to dispute the charge :( read more

I loved the location of the hotel, not directly on the strip but close enough for a short uber ride. The rooms were smaller than I thought, but cozy enough for 2 people. My biggest complaint however is the lack of sleep that I got during my stay. There's a sign in your bathroom that let's you know if you get any makeup on the linen, towels or was cloths you will be billed for damages. I found this extremely upsetting. I washed my face thoroughly every night, but I kept jumping out my sleep wandering if I cleaned every bit of makeup off my face before laying down. My friends and I joked about it at first, but when I noticed my friend sleeping on her sweatshirt instead of the pillows provided I no longer found it funny. read more

To sum it up: this is a beautiful hotel, but service is still getting off the ground. Upon check-in at nearly 6pm my room was not ready. I had already waited 45mins just to be checked-in. Multiple people ahead of me were hearing the same thing, one gentleman with a family of 4 was flipping out. The girl behind the desk offered little support and just gazed stoically at my request to speak to a manager. (This was clearly her first job in hospitality.) After an exhausting time at the airport (lost luggage and transportation issues), this was the last thing I wanted to hear. However, after speaking to the manager regarding the issue a room magically became available for me within minutes. The manager then called me in my room moments later to ensure everything was up to my standards. The room itself was great, clean, new, nicely furnished with comfy beds and great views of the ocean and South Beach. Oh, and the free cocktail hour each night was also a great way to begin a Miami evening. I'd probably stay here again based on the rooms, price and location. This was my second time at this hotel. Great for a weekend scape. Waking distance to the beach, amazing restaurant and the welcoming smile of the employees. The most important for me is the cleanliness of the rooms and it cover all my expectations like the first time. The downside is the parking, but all this hotels in this area have the same problem.
