Not sure why there are several Yelp accounts for this place. Maybe it's to steer potential travelers from the bad reviews. If you like bugs and mold in your room, this is the place! If you like to stay where hospitality is non existent, Hotel Croydon is for you! Non refundable prepayment (before you even see the room) should have been our first clue. When we pulled back the comforter to see the prior guest's makeup on the sheets and pillows, it was too late!! Charged for 2 (filthy, sticky) rooms for 4 nights. We checked out after night one and moved to a Hilton hotel. We are going to contest the charges. Check out the other videos of this hotel (drain flies! Larvae!) before considering! read more

Creepy and UNCLEAN- dirty sheets, garbage and filth under the beds, bugs, hair, dust, just disgusting. Oh and the mold in the showers. let's not forget that. Had to leave. Reviews online do not tell the truth. Only reason I gave a 1 star is for the restaurant, but that is separate from the hotel. The food was great and the staff was delightful. STAY AWAY from the hotel! read more

Matthew is the bomb.com!!! Made sure we were well taken care of! Mimosas are . Food is great!

We loved our stay here. The hotel restaurant was fantastic for both our dinner and breakfast meals. The service was excellent. The rooms seem small but have everything you need for a weekend in Miami Beach. Nice bathroom. Hotel has a great location; across the street from the beach, a few blocks from Fountainbleu and other Miami Beach hot spots. read more

The reservations were made online after hurricane Irma. We had several people in our party. They accommodated us perfectly. The rooms were clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We also ate at the restaurant on site. My only reason for not giving five stars was that the change I received back after giving $100 for my drink was hugely incorrect. He gave himself a $60 tip. After it was brought to his attention, he was apologetic and gave the proper change. This same thing happened with the taxi and other stores. Make sure you get the products you paid for and the correct change. read more

Clean awesome restaurant bartender and service how ever if you don't speak to the hotel service people in Spanish they will not even attempt to speak English so your there staring at each other they charge you 45 per day for valet parking but have poor communication between you and when your car will be in front I was told 20 mins ended up waiting an additional 30 min 50 mins total losing our reservations at a restaurant the next time we used valet parking we were told we would be called when our truck would be there we were never called after 45 I called and come to find out it had been sitting there for more then 20 min note poor hygiene our truck smelled after valet driver brought our car again very poor communication between hotel staff read more

Stayed at this hotel for a short while. The hotel is really nice inside. It's about a mile and half from Lincoln Ave which is the main shopping area in South Beach. The hotel is a block away from the beach. From the really pretty roof top areas you can see the beach and the beautiful views of Miami. One of the gentleman at the front desk wasn't the nicest and could of been more informative about what the hotel had to offer. There's a really nice bar and restaurant in the hotel with good food. The pool was kind of small and mostly in the shade, but who needs a pool when the beach is a block away. So the room we stayed in didn't have a shower curtain& the floor is all flat, from the shower into the bathroom area, so when you shower the water goes everywhere on the floor even a little into the hallway of our room. There is a note on the beds when you walk into your room that says to conserve the use of towels, but how can you do that when you have to use the towels to wipe all the water on the floor from the shower. The tv seemed old or maybe it was the type of cable, but the picture on the tv wasn't clear. The walls and doors must also be paper thin because you can hear everything from the hallway and the surrounding rooms. At one point we heard people up till about 4 in the morning when we had to leave for our flight. The best thing about the room was the bed. The bed was very comfortable, so comfortable I wanted to take it home!! Anyway it's a nice hotel for a short stay and if you can sleep through noise. Hopefully they fix that shower water on the floor issue. read more

Me and couple of my friends stayed at hotel croydon and we had breakfast and lunch at the tavern located in the hotel. Our waitress Iva was AMAZING!!! Such a sweet girl super nice and so friendly. We loved going to the restaurant because of her! read more

Overrated hotel. The cleaning of the room was deplorable, we dropped a paper under the bed and we could not even get it back so dirty it was in there. The floor is sticky, stains on the bedclothes. They do not have room service for food, they charge you $25 dollars each day of beach service (which is just 2 chairs and 1 umbrella). They say we have special price because we are hosted at the hotel but everyone pays the same price in the beach tent. Also, they offer Shuttle service for the airport, but if the Shuttle for a determined time gets full, the other guests have to figure out how to go to the airport by themselves. I called one day before our departure to schedule the shuttle and just an hour from the flight they called our room saying it was overbooked and not be able to carry us. So we had to pay $24 for a Uber to take us there! What a shame!!! The only good thing is the pool area and the Tavern restaurant. read more

Truly as good as it gets for a boutique hotel in this upscale area of Miami. Had read the recent NY TIMES Travel section rave review and booked the very next day. The online booking process was seamless, allowing for comments (I noted it was my husband's birthday, we were bringing friends and would need rooms close by on the same floor, away from the elevator, and with a view. ALL requests were honored AND the front desk staff greeted my husband with 'Happy Birthday!' greetings. A terrific, personal touch.). Everything was beautiful: the art, the bedding, the tiled walls in the shower. Most impressive: this hotel was SPARKLING clean everywhere you looked/touched. And it smelled BEAUTIFUL, everywhere, including the elevators. We loved the complimentary beach towels and chairs: felt very special having Eddie set everything up for us. We loved the quiet, calmness of the entire property. We loved the NO SMOKING ANYWHERE policy. We will be back. A big 'Well Done' to the entire staff. read more

I had an amazing stay at the Croydon. It started at the curbside where some lovely gentlemen helped me with my bags and my car. Concierge staff was especially helpful and efficient. Stunning fine art books, and citrus infused water in the lobby was a nice touch. The room was sizable nicely furnished, and the bed was amazing -slept like a baby. Good sized restaurant/bar downstairs, The Tavern, not too big not too small. Watched a football game on the TVs at the bar. Mario, the bar tender was top notch! Never made it to the roof top deck during the day, but stopped up there at night, very sweet spot! I'll definitely be coming back. read more

This review is for business professionals. Horrible if you need to be anywhere on a schedule that isn't in walking distance. Number 1, the entrance is not on Collins road as you would be led to believe. Don't expect to have anyone meet you at your car and take your luggage, but you can expect to pay $36 per night for valet (standard south beach rate) and not get your car for 45-60 minutes from the time you request it. Otherwise, if it's just a vacation spot and you're Ubering, I'd have given it four stars. I'm writing this review while waiting on my car and missing my meeting. read more

I was on business in FL & blindly drove to Miami for 1 night to see if I then slipped to the Bahamas. I booked this hotel on my drive solely based on TripAdvisor ratings. I was so pleased w/the hotel, location and more than anything personalized service from every employee who truly make you feel welcome. I ended up not going to the Bahamas and instead extended my stay for a total of 3 nights because I liked it so much. I heard the hotel is months new. The only negative which is not that bad is I was right next to the ice machine and the housekeeping closet. Im sure If I would have requested a different room if it were available it would have been given to me. I've stayed At the Fontainebleu and Mondrian prior and while great hotels the personalized service from all the staff at Hotel Croydon does not compare. If and when i come back to Miami this is where I'll stay as well as recommend to anyone. read more

Me and two of my friends stayed here for Thanksgiving weekend because we found it to offer a very reasonable deal for all the great amenities that Hotel Croydon has to offer. We booked only the night before of Thanksgiving and the rates were still great. Booking is also very easy and convenient. This is a small boutique hotel with extremely friendly staff, very spacious and clean rooms, fitness center, spa delicious bar/restaurant "The Tavern", nice pool, free Wi-Fi, valet parking, safe location, and its only one block away from the beach. We couldn't have needed anything more. Why we liked the location so much was because it was a ten minute drive from the loud/bustling area of South Beach. Thats good because its close and easy enough to get there if we want, but at the same time we won't have to be surrounded by noise and tourists all the time. Ifeoma Amachree and Frank Fuentes at the Front Desk were our go-to people for anything and they were always willing to help. They made our stay even more enjoyable! read more

Hotel Croydon is always a great stay. I love the rooms and The Tavern downstairs. I booked through the New York & Miami Social and the their team took great care of me. Check in was easy, and they even pointed me in the right direction when it came to activities. The Hotel is in a great location if you are looking for a more low key stay in Miami. read more

Hotel Croydon is SUPER! It is a trendy, clean new hotel with a cool vibe. The food is AMAZING! I had breakfast, lunch and dinner. All super. The GM, Jose, is charming, nice and talented. I for sure would stay again, and told many friends about this jewel. I travel often and I am hotel picky. read more

This hotel has nice big rooms with large bathrooms that are well appointed. The staff couldn't be more helpful and nice especially Wendy in the restaurant! The Tavern restaurant is great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. The bar is well stocked with everything you could want. The Hotel has a beautiful beach and gives you complimentary towels and lounge chairs. The prices are reasonable and I would definitely return! I can heartily recommend this hotel if you are looking for a great boutique hotel with all the extras in A good location in Miami beach. read more

An adorable boutique hotel. Friendly and accommodating staff. Quiet location, but a short drive to both mid-beach (Fountainbleau) and South Beach. Heated pool, beautiful rooftop deck, nice little coffee bar inn the lobby, good (but typically pricey) in-hotel restaurant. Comfy rooms, great bed, good towels. Everything clean. I would gladly stay here again. read more

This hotel is fine in terms of cleanliness and the location was acceptable, although far from the action in South Beach so if you don't have a car, then this is not the best location. This hotel lacks a great deal of customer service. Upon arrival the front desk staff was very unfriendly, just there to check us in and take our money for their wild extraneous costs such as a resort fee, that basically provides you with nothing, and valet service, that stinks...we waited 30-45 minutes for our car every single time, sometimes longer because the lazy valet service forgot to pass along our info when we called down. The room is fine, super small and nothing special. The recommendations by staff for places to dine were horrendous so I wouldn't even try to ask them for help. The worst part of our stay was when my boyfriend decided he was hungry at 10:30 PM after coming home from a business meeting. He opted to just stay at the hotel and dine at their restaurant, The Tavern. Our trip fell apart after that since he contracted food poisoning from their roasted snapper fish special. He was violently ill for the rest of the vacation and the hotel wasn't really amendable to helping. The only thing we were offered was soup from the restaurant, the very restaurant he was sick from! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING. The general manager, Roberto, is a force to be reckoned with...I finally opened my mouth and suggested he give us a little more help since it was the hotel restaurant that caused the illness. After he argued with me and "reviewed tapes," of my boyfriend eating at the restaurant the night before, he finally conceded to have my boyfriend's pants cleaned. He even denied that the restaurant gave him the poisoning and asked him to go to the hospital to prove it. We said we would if they would cover the hospital bill, they refused, so he did not go. You might ask why his pants needed cleaned, well he threw up in the one trash can in the room and when we asked the front desk to bring up a new bag, they said we would have to wait for the cleaning staff to arrive in 3 hours, well he wasn't able to hold anything down and didn't' make it to the bathroom in time. He threw up everywhere! We were forced to put the trash in the hallway and it stunk up the whole floor. It took them hours to get to it. They didn't even change the sheets after we showed them he threw up there. They were happy to see us go and I sure was happy to leave. I WILL NEVER again step foot in this hotel or any that they own. They have no idea how to treat guests. It was disgusting, especially because the manager, Roberto, claims he cares so much about his guests...that's a JOKE! STAY SOMEWHERE ELSE! I stayed at the royal palms a few years ago and was more than pleased, the service is amazing and the hotel property is much nicer. read more

I have yet to check into the hotel for my pending stay this weekend and I'm already upset and cancelling. I called the hotel to make sure I had I double bed room as I do not wish to sleep on the same bed as my friend. The front desk supervisor tells me that I would need to pay an upgrade charge since the reservation was booked through a third party. Funny being that the third party saved me the same amount as their "upgrade charge". Considering that the room rates for a single bed and double bed room are the same, I found this to be absurd. I travel quite often and always made the choice of room type free of charge. This is absolutely ridiculous. I called numerous times to speak to the manager and (through out the span of 8 hours) was told that the manager was not in each call. Not sure what hotel operates from 8am-4pm without a manager, but for sure its one with one less guest. read more

Had a very short and brief stay here at the Croydon #317. Alex the front desk guy was very helpful and accommodating to myself and company. Would highly recommend the Croydon. read more

Our flight got cancelled due to a snow storm and the hotel we booked rebooked us here and we couldn't have been luckier. It's in a quiet area on Collins, but still close to the action. The hotel is chic, beautiful and clean. From the room to the rooftop. Alex G at the front desk- thank you so much for your great service and advice!!! He was extremely professional, charismatic and real. I still have the map and list of places he suggested to check out in my phone. He made our last night in Miami the best. I would definitely book this hotel again. read more

Katherine I notice you often respond to reviews here. It was one of the reasons I decided ti give it a try when a top Miami PR guy suggested it. The rooms are handsome and well designed. And while the staff tries...they are handicapped by what feels like is a lack of leadership. Guidance it feels like. I am here now. And I want to love this place. The big issue is the restaurant. I have tried to eat at the restaurant 3x now. I'm here by myself so I thought no issue but last night I was told it would be two hours. At 7? Really. When I said I was staying at the hotel they said "that doesn't help here"tTonight I sat down at 5 and ordered hummus and at the waiters suggestion...,the happy hour Cuban. There were only 6 other tables so is thought all good. 35 mins later I was told they were out of what I ordered. How when our waiter told me several times it was on its way?. Finally 4O mins later....I left. Walked to anywhere they would serve me. Good news is that there are other options. read more

Amazing breakfast and freshly squeezed orange juice. We didn't stay in the hotel but went to the tavern restaurant...

The place is really nice, food is great, bellman Fernando Méndez was so friendly and helpful.

Enjoyed a 2 night stay at Hotel Croydon and several meals and drinks from The Tavern. Great deal for the price. Quaint boutique hotel a block from the beach. Hotel was clean, decor up to date, rooftop has a nice romantic feel. Free beach towels and chairs available made it easy to relax. I could not give any higher rating to the service at this hotel. The service was absolutely superior to any other hotel. They went above and beyond for service. My only complaint would be the thin walls. You can hear everyone walking down the hallway. Met the owner, Nathan, at The Tavern. He went above and beyond and personally made me delicious Avocado toast for breakfast. The food was great and prices very reasonable. Highly recommend this 4 star hotel for a romantic get away. read more

Disappointing from the check in to the check out. We pulled up to valet parking and the young man actually tried to talk us out of valet parking, not sure why? Took 20 minutes to check in and wasn't even busy. Called down for my car 30 minutes before checking out but they acted like they never got the call when I showed up in lobby. Took another 15 to get my car. Credit card was over charged after departure. I tried to request detailed bill to be emailed to me through their website but was ignored. I will say the restaurant in the Hotel was very good, only reason I gave 2 stars. read more

I am a massage connoisseur. Annette gave me the absolute best massage ever. I have not seen her talent in many years on the beach. The additional spa special foot scrub was amazing. July andAugust is spa month. Specials! Hotel Croydon offers yoga, massage, etc. No lockers, or steam rooms like a typical spa. Instead you get a warm relazing place to have special one on one attention with the highest quality I have seen. And I am a local on South Beach. I have seen them all. read more

Tavern is the place where I used to go at lest 3-4 times per week. The unbelievably unprofessional manager is a reason why I will to go there any more. The other day I went there in the evening to have dinner and I wanted to sit outside. All the tables for 2 people were occupied but in the same time all the tables for 4 were free. Gabriela (the supervisor) greeted me and when I said that i'm alone and I would like to sit outside, she told me that all the tables are occupied and i had to wait inside by the bar. I replied That I came to delight with weather so I didn't want to wait by the bar. I asked to give the table which was for four people and then move me once the table for 2 is free. She ignored me and opened the door for me to come inside. Inside I saw the manager (don't know his name, it was a man in his fifties) and after couple of words with Gabriela started to tell me again that I have to wait by the bar. I said again, that I want to breathe fresh air and it was the main point of me coming there, to eat on the fresh air, I don't want to wait by the bar. then I offered him the same thing- to give me a table for four because ALL of those tables were unoccupied and to move me to the table for two once it was free. Manager's respond "we don't do that. This is MY restaurant and we don't sit people to the tables like that". What else can I say about the restaurant? What level of service could be expected if even the manager doesn't know the basis of the customer service. Ridiculous! read more

Best restaurant food! Great prices and great food! Blows high priced Eden Rock away!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL!! They accused me of taking a iPod clock out of the hotel room and charged my credit card $150. They refuse to issue a refund. I spent one of the best weekends of my life! This awesome hotel Croydon has a fantastic staff whom made me feel like home all the time. We arrived in the afternoon with couple of friends, Olexis helped us with our bags as soon as he saw us getting out of the car, when checking in Lazaro and Miguel made us feel like VIP guests, they were extremely nice and helpful. We reserved a double queen bed room 614, this room was spacious and clean, we could see the beach from our room. Finally we went to The Tavern as Frank from front desk recommend us when he called us 5 minutes after arriving to see how was our check in, and reminded us one more time about the happy hour at The Tavern. This restaurant is a blast!! I was amazed about how nice and fast is the staff there, After couple of drinks we order food, and one more time it was better than my expectations. Thank you Jose and Nick for being so great! I would definitely come back to this place every time I want to scape from reality... I recommend The Tavern and Hotel Croydon to everyone read more

IT WAS EXTREMELY Terrible we had a stain on the sheets and they charged us for "damages" I never usually leave bad reviews but this hotel was bad they charged us 250 Bc a friend smoked out the window once and no damages happened the manager is extremely rude at 9 in the morning he was banging on the door to tell us about the smoking woke everyone up he argued with everybody beeping noises middle of the night no juccazi tiny lobby expensive restraunt no check in til 3 pm unless u pay a additional 50$ no water to fill ur bottles just absolutely terrible Then the last day for the "damages we made" the manager called the cops and tried to kick us out without are money back but the cop let us stay they should replace this hotel with a Hilton or something worse hotel experience ever lots of good hotels in down town Miami south beach though recommend those over this one don't stay here please also pictures make this place seem way nicer than it is when u see it in real life you'll be disgusted I've stayed in motel 6 and it was a lot better then this and I usually don't leave 1 star reviews read more

Hotel service is very bad. There is no coffee machines in the rooms and front desk is especially the worst. When we got up to our floor, the whole floor smelt like marijuana. It smelt like there were people definitely smoking in one of the rooms or in the hallway. This was very bad for me especially considering that I had my whole family with me including my two little kids. We told the front desk about the scent of marijuana and they said they'll check the cameras. After a few hours they said they didn't find anything int he cameras and they can't do anything about it. After this we were planning to go to another hotel because this hotel was absolutely terrible, we asked the manager for a refund so we can go to another hotel but he refused and said the best he can do is give us another room. We were very disappointed. Another bad thing is that in this hotel you usually won't find parking in front of the hotel and theirs steps by the front door so they won't let you take the luggage cart to get your luggage so you have to transport your luggage by hand from where you parked to the hotel. Overall, this was probably the worst hotel experience we've ever had and we will it be staying at this establishment again. Wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody. read more

I had a kind of love/hate relationship with this hotel. First, what I loved about it: I loved that it was a historic hotel-very old Miami Beach art deco. I loved the restaurant and bar off the lobby where you could dine in or al fresco and enjoy people watching while you eat. Loved the bar tender who got a lively discussion going about movies we loved. Finally, I loved that it was a block away from the beach and that trollies ran every ten minutes for FREE! Now for the bad parts. Our shower had no hot water-to be fair, my husband didn't say anything about it. There were major road repairs and construction going on so it was noisy during the day (not really the hotels fault). Our room was extremely small--bed, dresser, mini-bar and room for nothing else. Our room also faced another building so the view was not great and you cant open the windows (at least, there's a sign in the window that tells you not to open them). The roof top deck was beautiful--you could see all of Miami Beach but it was always full of other guests with no room to sit or even move. All in all, the staff was very helpful and friendly. I'm sure if we'd asked for a larger room with a better view they would have gone out of their way to accommodate us. If you're looking for just a place to lay your head at night, that's close to the beach and offers great meals and bar, this is your place. read more

We stayed for several days and loved every minute. The location is wonderful. The beach is so close. The pool is great. Our hotel room was a great size. We've travelled a lot and this was a fantastic hotel. At night we went to the roof to the sunbathing area (one of three) and took a bottle of wine and watched the moon rise and the ships in the water. It was romantic and lovely as the lights of the city turned on. The restaurant - The Tavern was fantastic. The food great. The hotel staff was wonderful. Overall an amazing experience. Don't travel if you think Valet and Beach chairs and umbrellas should be free. The Valet parking was wonderful. No worries on where to park and I could take the car out several times a day with no worries. They had the car ready every morning on time as requested. Yes you are going to find an employee here or there with a bad attitude for the moment but they certainly didn't affect our trip at all. The desk always greeted us warmly and were so helpful. I loved the espresso in the coffee shop in the morning. The breakfasts were amazing. Dinner outstanding. We felt blessed. read more
