I had the sautéed eggplant and it was good. The eggplant wasn't over cooked and the sauce was subtle and good. The house water was also actually really good - FYI I'm picky about restaurant water because it usually tastes like tap water. One thing that was odd here - We asked for the "spice rack" and all that they brought out was the chili sauce. Had to ask again for more chili and they brought out dried crushed chili pepper. (Didn't bother asking for the peppers in the fish sauce) Very humble restaurant but was busy for take out!!! It's worth a try.

The Tom kha seafood... I think the seafood may have been frozen and re-thawed a couple of times as it had a strange combination of textures within a piece of meat and pieces were very chewy. The spiciness, asked for medium but not too hot, like mild-medium. My liquidy yellow curry chicken was barely mild. The soup, was just sweet. Tbe rice was abundant but soggy/clumpy. The inside is absolutely lovely. I took tons of pictures for my first visit inside. I was told most was imported from Thailand. I believe it. I'm just not able to get myself to find the food good enough for me. Sad.

Located in the North Highlands area of Sacramento, this place is directly on Watt Ave and situated in a small strip mall next to one of my other favorite local restaurants, Sol Cubano. Parking can get quite packed and for some that don't venture to this neck of the woods, this is a sketchy area, especially at night. But once you step food inside, you will forget you're at one of Sacramento's top-rated Thai restaurants. Much to my surprise, this place has been around since 2013 and it took me well over a decade to finally try them out. I came here with my lady during the evening of Sunday 9/20/2026 at around 6:30pm. Since the exterior parking area was packed, we knew it would be busy. Luckily when we entered the main entrance, we were greeted and immediately seated (towards the back). I will say that this place has an old school mom-and-pop feel to it with lots of nostalgic items and knick-knacks as if you're truly dining in someone's home. If you're looking for an upscale dining experience, this place ain't for you. But the service and ambiance really wowed me the entire time I was here. Their menu is quite extensive with a huge assortment of appetizers, salads, curry dishes, BBQ, seafood, fried rice, and of course all the Thai noodle classics. Since I am no stranger to Thai food, I knew exactly what I wanted. I chose their "Beef Pad See-Ew" (priced decently at $13.50). This wildly popular Thai dish consisted of pan-fried noodles w/eggs, broccoli, Chinese broccoli, cabbage, and sweet soy sauce. Since I don't like my food spicy, I went with a heat level '1" which is the mildest amount of spice. My lady went with their "Chicken Drunken Noodles" (also priced at $13.50). Her dish is spicier with fresh chilis and other sauces to elevate the heat factor to a 3 out of 5. We also both split an order of "White Rice" while ordering two (2) "Thai Iced Teas" (priced at $4.50/each) to complete our order. Our waiter (who was the same guy that seated us) brought out two (2) iced waters w/lemon while our Thai Iced Teas arrived shortly thereafter. I will say that these were made to perfection (and as you can see from the photo), you get a decent amount. As for my Pad See-Ew; this absolutely hit the spot and was quite filling. The noodles were made perfectly while the seasoned beef was quite tender. I also tried some of her Drunken Noodles and this too was a phenomenal dish with the perfect amount of sweet, savory, salty, and spicy. I've been to my share of Thai restaurants, and this place absolutely ranks at the top in the Sacramento area. Best of all, I was only able to finish 60% of my meal which made for great leftovers the following day. All in all, "House of Thai Rice & Noodle" in North Highlands is the real deal. Don't let the location steer you away because you will soon forget about that real quick. The employees that work here are genuinely sweet and made sure we had an amazing dining experience from start to finish. Keep in mind that they are closed on Mondays. But they are open Tuesday through Sunday from 11am-3pm (for lunch) and 5-9pm (for dinner). Come hungry because they give you a ton of food. With amazing service, very reasonable prices, and delicious Thai food that will beg you to come back, I am giving House of Thai Rice & Noodle a perfect five-star rating.

I usually don't write reviews, but after trying out this new restaurant it's worth people knowing how great it is! I came here with 4 friends because we were craving hotpot. We got the house special spicy and chicken spicy broth. They have a fridge with so many selections of fresh veggies, meatballs, meat, & seafood. And it's all Self-serve! Yup u heard it right, no more waiting or having to order dishes off the menu. My gosh it was by far the BEST hotpot I've ever had and I used to live in the Bay Area with so many competitive hotpot places. This restaurant definitely did not disappoint A+++. Each of us also ordered their pho, kapoon, & papaya Togo. It was so flavorful and delicious. This is a very unique restaurant because how many places serve all your favorite foods in one place? None. They also have great friendly service. Waiters & waitresses are very attentive. We can't wait to come back again. Must come try it out. read more

Found this place to try and satisfy our hot pot craving as we had only been to a hot pot restaurant once before discovering this place. It's located right down the street from us and we never knew it was there! This has become our new favorite hot pot restaurant and the worker already recognized us on our second visit! The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful with how the experience works. The food is delicious and the broth is very flavorful! It does not disappoint. The price is unbeatable and does not compromise quality! The restaurant is small which is perfect for us because it is a more intimate dinner setting without it being loud. I will definitely be returning and I don't think I will ever go to another hotpot place! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! read more

The papaya salad is to die for and the customer service has been great both times I have gone from the asian make owner! My guy friend and I have gone once for dining in and the second time when my guy friend and I got takeout. I can't stop raving about the papaya salad! It's a must try and I dream about it in my sleep it's so good with the noodles and so spicy! Lol. I'm in love and drooling... o baby!!! Lol come here and eat, the other dishes are mediocre and the hot pot we tried the first time wa so so due to the broths we weren't a fan of and the meat and seafood weren't of good quality and had gone bad when we had gotten to them in the fridge. This place is amazzzzzing. I came here with a party of 10 and we tried all 4 flavor broths for the hotpot. It was all so delicious! They have house special, chicken, vegetarian, & beef soup base. Yum! We also tried their papaya salad & it is honestly the "best" papaya salad I ever had. It was even better than my moms & I thought she made the best. My sister had kapoon & she said it was so flavorful & delicious. We ordered the namwan (3-color dessert) and it's the best we've ever had. I love it here. My sister and I came out of curiosity, and now it's one of our go to spots for a nice home like broth. There's a wide variety of broths to try and the add in choices are always fresh. The service is not only fast, but also simple. The owner is super friendly and interacts with all customers personally making sure that all our needs are met. It's always clean and the low lighting really adds to that fun at home feeling of enjoying a warm bowl of soup with loved ones. I heavily recommend the Chef Special broth as a cold remedy. The ingredients are stored in refrigerators and you can pick what you want to add to your pot, with each item priced individually. It's a fun and customizable way to eat, but the cost can add up quickly if you're not careful with how many items you choose. The service was good and the staff were friendly. On our way to Reno, decided to stop at hotpot express again, right off i80, love the hotpot, love the fact that I have control of cooking my own meat, veggies, seafood. Do not cook it too long or it will be over cook, you are your own cook. I say cook it three mins to five mins max time on the carne asada thin meat.
