I had no idea I drive by this place all the time. Boy was I glad I stumbled on this place. My boyfriend had the Pho and I had the Kapoon. Mine was so delicious! I even took home the leftovers. Huge portions! I have never had Pho I liked, today I was proven wrong. I liked it so much I stole my boyfriend's leftovers! The Thai tea was super tasty and the waiter was awesome. I didn't catch his name :/ but he was super friendly and made sure we were taken care of. I'm pretty positive he's the owner since he seems so proud of his restaurant. Solid 5 stars. These dudes who run it remind me of the guys I used to play poker with in SF. They made me feel at home as I waited for my to go order with a Tsingtao. I can't get enough of this kapoon. Have yet to try the hot pot but after going in to see how fresh the food it and how busy the place was, I will be back when the weather cools off to get my fix. Short review: Food is good I recommended the House Special regular soup base. All the veggies and meat/other ingredients are fresh. Prices are fair on ingredients. They could do with a bigger variety of veggies, more selections of meats, but outside of that you should enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is good, music videos, and it seems family friendly. This was our first time here and I can't even begin to describe what a pleasant experience we had. The host was very polite, accommodating and took the time to explain everything considering. They serve soups to order as well as hot pot option. My wife opted for the Kasoy soup to order. It's a Mien noodle soup that incorporates similar ingredients as Pho, including a ground pork mix as an additive. I opted for the Hot Pot with the House Special. This broth is very flavorful with some a sour and spicy flavor. It reminds me of Tom Kha Kai without the coconut milk. I added baby bok choy, mushrooms, egg noodle, egg and pork. This combination was perfect. My daughter chose the beef broth with pork, pork rinds, and tofu. We also had Thai Iced Tea, which in have to say was the best I've tested. Besides the great food the service again was exceptional. We were treated like values customers and we will definitely be coming back. Tonight was slow but on the weekends this place is jam packed! This place is in a great location, because there are not many other Hotpot places around. So when you are craving Hotpot, this is definitely the place to go. This place is not all-you-can-eat. You buy the broth and all of the ingredients separately. We got about 8 plates of ingredients and it ended up being about $35 per person. PROS: the quality of the broth was superb and there was a wide selection of ingredients. The veggies were fresh and the soup was rich in flavor. CONS: this place is pretty pricey. You control the price by picking the number of sides you want, however it can definitely rack up quickly. There are other all-you-can-eat Hotpot places that would've ended up being cheaper than the amount we spent here. Also, about half of their tables are missing spice/sauce racks. We were unable to start eating our soup after we got it because we were waiting for someone to leave so we could be provided a spice rack. Overall, I would definitely come here again and would definitely recommend this place if you are craving Hotpot. Our server was very nice and attentive, and you definitely get those family-owned vibes here. If you don't mind spending a few more bucks here, you should definitely give this place a try! read more

This place is close to home and I had driven by it on many occasions before I finally decided to give it a try. Small, clean looking place. The freezers in the dining area catch your attention immediately. With glass doors you can see all the food chilling right before your eyes. Kind of cool. I ordered to go so I didn't get to experience the whole making your own pho and cooking it in front of you on the tables with the built in electric burner. I felt the food was a bit pricey. You get a clear message by the owner/ employees that they truly believe this is the best restaurant in town and I thought that sense of pride was pretty cool. Came here with a girlfriend last Friday from Elk Grove to try out this place. We had hot pot, papaya salad and Kalunfen. The spicy beef broth was yummy... I couldn't get enough of it. Papaya was good but a little salty for my taste. Kalunfen was also good too. I ordered one to go. One of the owners, Sancho was very friendly. Great customer service. He came by few times to check up on us and make sure everything was good, which it was. The only down part about this place is that you have to drive far, especially coming from Elk Grove. So they bring out the broth & place the pot on a burner, you go to the refrigerator and pick whatever you want to add into the broth. Charging per plate, depending on the color of the plate. So a vegetable plate was $2.99, meat or seafood $4.99-$5.99. The plates were small. I ended up paying $30 with tax for 2 people. The broth was ok. But it added up, $30 for soup . This is probably the only Hotpot that doesn't charge per person. I love the fact that I get to choose my plate of selection of food for my hotpot. They only charges for the plates you pick out. Love love love the varieties of food here. I can have my Thum Som, Kasoy, Kalengv Fengh (KLF), Nam wan and Hotpot ALL in One dinning. It meets all of my cravings and did not have to go anywhere else. Don't forget, there is Karaoke here too. So, if you want something private... just talk to the owner he and his wife is super Sweet and can work something out for you. Environment: This is a nice spot for a date or a place to eat with friends. Not really family though, they have loud music so it gives off more of a chill vibe. Food: I went today with my cousin. We shared a bowl of kapoon ($7.95), klangfen ($3.25) and thamsom ($7.95). They have very good portions. The only thing I'd say I didn't like was the price of their Thai tea ($3.50). Somewhat pricy to me compared to other places that I've bought it at and it was served in a long, slim glass. Ice took the space of over half the cup so I really didn't get any to drink and there are no free refills. Service: I went around the afternoon (3pm). It was completely empty when we went in -- slow. Guess how long for take out order?!?!?!?! 45min!!! Like wtf. Have more people on in kitchen staff. The Kapoon looks appealing to the eye yet I paid 7.95 for a half bowl of broth. The broth tasted rather bland not strong in coconut which I was looking forward to. I added spicy flakes and a little lemon to improve flavor which it did but still bland I'm glad the soup wasn't salty but it didn't taste coconutty. It had some good shredded chicken, minimal Bamboo and cabbage if more was added maybe it would have help the dish feel more filling. Tons of chopped cilantro, bean sprouts and unnecessary Raw jalapeño that's takes away from the authentic flavor and doesn't make it spicy. It had two boiled small eggs which I never had in the many Kapoon dishes around Sacramento but taste as expected in a boiled egg. I ate the hole soup in 5 min while I knew I would still be hungry I had to go else where for more food. my mate had a beef pho with sausage dish his bowl was way more full his pho had way more flavor that the extra lemon aside from the bean sprouts and jalapeño weren't as needed. Once he added the extra he found the broth to spicy for his liking so he took jalapeño out but broth was spicy for his I actually liked the pho I'm not big on sausage but I would say it's better than my Kapoon dish but I enjoy a coco broth and chicken. Overall I've had better Kapoon they need to make this dish more filling if there's not much appetizer or limited menu options to order. limited menu, they do have a fridge with cold food you can walk up to sit, cook stuff at your table but I didn't get to experience that. Came here for the papaya and kapoon. Papaya was decent and more salty than I personally like. But it definitely satisfies my papaya cravings. The kapoon was not so good. It doesn't have the flavor that kapoon should have - chicken base with red curry flavor. I wouldn't recommend the kapoon. I would still come back. I think I'll try the pho, kasoy, and their hotpot next time. Hopefully my noodle cravings are met with the other options. read more

This was a very fun lunch for us!!! We chose the house broth for our base and then my wife and i picked plates of vegetables, noodles, meats and other things to put in. You pay by the plate so it is not hard to track how much your bill will be. It can be as simple or elaborate as you wish. I really enjoyed the long skins as well. They have all different kinds of vegetables, noodles, meats, organ meats, pot stickers and dumplings, and various items. On the table for use they had hot chili oil, fish sauce, soy sauce, housing sauce, salt and pepper. Everything was very fresh tasting and delicious. I really enjoyed our experience. I've wanted to come to this restaurant for some time, I finally came and I was so disappointed. Usually at hotpot restaurants the vegetables and noodles are included, you would only have to pick a protein package,not here you have to pay for every item individually on each plate. The food is in a refrigerator with plastic wrap over them. The protein in the refrigerator seems a little old as well. your food is served in paper bowls and plastic spoons, with each broth seeping in so you can't really taste the broth and the bowl gets soggy. The broth is subpar and low key nasty. We had the three broth option and he refused to give us three bowls so we wouldn't have to deal with each broth seeping into the bowl so we could actually taste the flavor. All I could really taste was the cardboard bowl. When I received my bill it was not itemized so I'm not sure what I was charged. This place will never get my business again. read more
