Ridiculously overpriced. After reading the good reviews here, we decided to try this place. It's a quiet and small place. We like to try one broth at the time. So today I ordered only House Special broth $7.50. My suggestion is not to judged from the pictures. Those plates are smaller than you think. Green plate ($3.95), napa cabbage, I would say it's just one leaf that they cut and spread out on the plate then wrapped. Wow! Also, Rice noodles it self, very little portion for $3.95, so we have to get 4 plates of it. We end up get double up our plates each kind like dumpling, meat, mushrooms since they were so less and swimming in the pot! Keep in track the plates you have picked, they'll take the empty plates on your table otherwise you'll end up pay $60-70 for 2 person just to filled the pot. My kids usually love quail eggs, they refused to finish one egg since it taste terrible. I don't know why people so crazy about this House Special but to me it's super sour even though I love Tom Yum. Sad. I give 2 stars for shrimp dumplings. Not going back. read more

Customer service was really good to our party of 6. Served us even though it was less than 1 hour before closing. Lots of variety of different drinks, all very good. The broth is $8. The sides that go into the hotpot are fairly good portions, you pay individually for each side depending on the color of plate. Overall excellent customer service and would return again. This place is a hole in the wall restaurant. You can get whatever you like to eat with a wide variety of veggies and meats. I really liked that they had squid. The broth was very good too plus the nice service. Definitely authentic papaya salad. I also love that they have kapoon and kaysoy options because a lot of Asian restaurants up here don't offer those noodle dishes. Will definitely be coming back again. read more

The owner greeted us and was very friendly, He explained the process, he would bring the hot broths out to us and we would go to the large fridges to get our dishes. You pay per dish, ala dim sum. Okay, so not your traditional hotpot place, but the concept was worth a try. The variety was fairly simple, beef, pork, tofu, shrimp, mushrooms, noodles, and vegetables. Again, pretty comparable to other hotpot restaurants. The reason for the 3 stars, there was no dipping sauces. Every hotpot restaurant in the region has the dipping sauces, usually 2 different types, served with your meal. The 2 stars given was because of the price. I know prices have gone up, recent inflation, but $200 for 4 people!! That's a lot considering all you can eat hotpot restaurants are typically $30 per person. There was other Thai food on the menu and it looked very appetizing, but I recommend adding the dipping sauces and consider an all you can eat option. read more

My wife is a hot pot fanatic from Chengdu China! I had heard this restaurant was once again open after last year's events. We walked into the establishment and my wife made her way to the glass ingredient refrigerator. She turned to me and smiled, we had hit pay dirt. We were greeted by the waiter and host. A few minutes later we were enjoying delicious hot pot. The pre-portioned ingredients included traditional tripe, mushrooms and thinly sliced meat. They offer a few broths from hot to mild. We ate until our hearts content and took the leftovers home. They are open from 5pm to 10pm, Wednesday thru Sunday. If you're not into hot pot, get into it.... Enjoy! read more

Love this place! The fact that I can choose what I want, in all aspects, as I want them, is a HUGE positive. The fact that I don't have to have a set bunch of meats and veg that "they" say is part of a meal is what is hugely appealing to me. Get what I want, when I want, is so refreshing in a meal experience. Self serve beer is also a huge plus. "Let me do my thing and tally it up at the end" is something I wish more places would do. If I'm hungry, I eat more, if I'm simply enjoying time with friends and want less, I can. 10/10, the best hot pot experience I've had. I hate the "pick a list of stuff you may or may not want and you're stuck with it" places. Those that "need a calculator " maybe should not be eating out in the first place. I ordered the kapoon and papaya. The papaya was really sweet for my liking, but has some flavor. I would prefer a little more lime to offset the sweetness. The kapoon was not good. The broth came out luke warm and the flavor was a miss. It had this pungent, unpleasant aftertaste from the curry? The broth is not creamy, so if you are looking for a creamy, coconutty profile then this is not for you. The waiter asked me about the kapoon. NOTE: Last seating is at 9 pm. NO pickup order after that. I called at 9:20 pm, 3/1/23 and was told they've already closed the kitchen and cleaned up, so they couldn't do any take out. They said that they allow last seating at 9pm and customers can stay and eat until 10pm. I supposed for the hot pot part I understand, but was hoping they could still make the other menu items for pick up. Previously, we had the papaya salad and Kapoon. It's the only Laos food in the area, so we don't have much of a choice. The taste is fine and satisfies my craving, but the portion is on the smaller size and the price is more than Sac, but comes with the area. Plus side is that they are very friendly when I've called and my husband said they were friendly when he picked up the order for me. (Some Asian restaurants, especially more authentic ones, can be unfriendly sometimes.) read more

Wow why isn't this place more well known?! We decided to postpone our San Jose trip and drive a little less (still a 45 minute drive) over to Citrus Heights to try out this new spot. I LOVE the concept of just choosing which meats, veggies, noodles, and extras that you want in your soup. You have 7 choices for soup bases - house special, and a regular or spicy version of beef broth, chicken broth and veggie broth. The server informed us that the pot has a divider so we could get another soup base ($3 extra) so we went for it - house special and spicy beef broth. Unfortunately we didn't know the house special was spicy too so we had two spicy broths but it was all delicious. The ingredients are divided by green, orange, and yellow plates. We tried many things: udon noodles, flat rice noodles, beef, shrimp, lobster balls, crab, Napa cabbage, sausage, crab siumai, fish cake. My favorite was definitely the crab siumai..I could probably eat two plates by myself (I probably will next time). Our total overall came to about $60. Bad thing about this place - you have to keep track of your plates yourself if you want to make sure you're charged correctly. Also, basically you don't know how much you're spending until you get that check! Oops! But it's basically the same price that you'd pay at an AYCE shabu house. Another downside is the meat wasn't as high quality. We tried the beef and it was a little on the thick side. The chicken and pork looked like it was cut thinner but I didn't have any room to try it. I definitely want to come back but probably won't soon since it's so far. But I'll keep it in mind when I am craving a customizable hotpot experience! read more
