Stayed close by so we took a short walk over to Houndstooth for some much needed morning caffeine on a Saturday mid-morning. There was a short line but it moved fairly quick. The service was super friendly and the coffee is made right before you! Iced Vanilla Latte ($5.50ish): Ended up getting almond milk in my latte which I liked since it was not overly sweet! There was enough vanilla flavoring but it was not overwhelming. Definitely fresh and enjoyable. read more

The barista dropped a perfect shot. I tried the light roasted Columbian. The shot was definitely bright, almost like a green grape and Chardonnay. I'll recommend a stop to try, but order their medium roast, it might express a wider flavor spectrum. read more

Nice coffee spot in downtown with the some good espresso choices. I had the sweet latte with almond milk and it was good. Not terribly sweet. My friends enjoyed their lattes as well. The barista was so friendly. She gave us some sightseeing tips and really made our short stop at the shop very nice. It really makes a difference walking into a place where everyone is genuinely happy. That's how it felt at Houndstooth. Would have loved to try their specials on the board, but that will have to wait until our next trip back to Austin. read more

I had a very transient moment with this coffee shop but it was super chill. The barista acted like I had just walked into his personal home and invited me with splendor. I loved every moment of this because I always walk into an environment without knowing what to order; however, seeing this guy, I already knew what to order. The cold brew with oat was perfect and the price point not too high for where I was located. I would be back but not for any particular reason other than because it was convenient. Super solid coffee and a really cool space. Not a ton of tables but the atmosphere is great to get some work done. My office was close so parking wasn't an issue for me, but can be tough to find a spot close by if you aren't already parked close. But that's to be expected downtown. read more

What stands out most to me is the energy from the baristas here. They were ADORABLE. Such great people, so knowledgeable about coffee. My latte was a tiny bit bitter, and my boyfriend's drink was similar. I think I may just not have a taste for the espresso Houndstooth uses. There were tons of places to sit and work. This location is in the lobby of an office building downtown, so I imagine it could get very busy. We visited on a Saturday, so it wasn't busy at all. read more

Strolling through the quiet downtown streets of Austin on a Sunday morning along Congress Avenue and one cannot help but noticed a lone coffee spot tucked into the lobby of a modern business building that is streaming with people in all kinds of exercising gears. While neighboring coffee shops was empty, Houndstooth coffee counter is not short of a constant line-up. At $3.70 a cup of americano and $6 for cappuccino, I was skeptical of the value of this swanky coffee place. Up on first sip I was pleasantly impressed eith the poignant acidity of the toast that is balanced just right ...... something I had not had luck in other coffee houses. The oat milk cappuccino was pretty good. Ample seating. Clean bright area. Lots of people working and sipping on coffee. In you dine in they give you ceramic. Minus one star for no real food options. Just some specialty chocolates at check out. For pure coffee I enjoyed the cap. Light and low acidity. A little pricey. read more

This coffee place was such a great find on one of the trips we happened to be staying in downtown Austin (instead of with friends), and I'm so happy we came across it! They have the best lattes, coffee (per my husband), and they serve Taco Deli tacos which are always a wonderful and quick breakfast option for us. My favorite is the vanilla latte. My husband usually orders one of the many unique coffees they offer, but this last time they had a special called the Arnold Pommer (made with cold brew and pomegranate juice) and it was one of the yummiest things I've ever tasted! Yes, it's a bit on the pricier side, but that's what you pay for really good coffee! They have a few tables and stools inside, and I believe there is some outdoor seating as well. Oh, and they are always playing good music! The only reason I'm not giving this 5-stars is because for some reason (when I happen to visit) they only have one person working a busy Saturday morning shift and she talks to the patrons (which is great), but it backs up the line and she messes up the order every time (i.e. - forgetting to put the vanilla in the "vanilla" latte). Aside from that, I have zero complaints! Check it out, you won't be disappointed. read more

Really good coffee, and we drink a LOT of the stuff! We got an oat milk latte, a cortado, and a tea made from coffee bean husks which tasted just like tamarind. Everything was delicious and we regretted not coming back the next day! read more

I walked so don't know about parking but there was plenty on the street when I went. Customer service was good. I got the lavender latte and it was so good. I was really hesitant on getting it for other companies haven't made it that great but this one was yummy! I finished the whole drink. read more

Odd setup and staffing. I think the coffee was okay, but the way you order, pay and get your drink is laid out incredibly odd. When you do get your drinks definitely ensure you're not in a hurry, you must go on a treasure hunt to find lids they won't just put on for you. The coffee, not bad, but the layout, ordering process and slight tinge of attitude from the girl who is at the iPad taking your order could use some refinement. read more

This place was great! The staff was so friendly and gave suggestions. It is in the heart of downtown, so parking may be difficult. We walked there from another location where we parked our car. The coffee was delicious, I loved the flavor! They have some basic flavor options but they a good ones! There is room to hang out, and also tables and different areas where you can work and plug in a laptop. It was easy to find and I will definitely check it out again! read more

I like the staff but this place is filled with bland, twee, overly showered people. Last time a true fool talked loudly to the staff about his birthday for a pathetically and unendurably long time. This is a really good coffee shop right in downtown. They pulled a really good shot and had good drip coffee. The lines can be pretty long if you show up during the morning rush, but they are still very friendly and get you through as quickly as possible. read more

Stopped in here on a whim and was got all my coffee needs solved with a friendly and knowledgeable staff and comfortable atmosphere. Ordered a Japanese iced coffee which came out promptly and tastes delicious. I saw there were some breakfast tacos available as well which definitely intrigued me and I'll consider for my next visit (they seemed to sell out quickly too which is a good sign). Definitely a solid coffee choice in Austin and under one of the most iconic buildings in the Austin skyline. read more

The guy with long hair who took my order was very rude !!! I ordered a house reserve coffee with half and half cream and there was some coffee cup plates so I picked one up and he told me to stop touching stuff!! Really dude !! Cheery baristas so early in the morning! There was a bit of a line, but it moves very quickly. I ordered the cappuccino, and it was delicious. The milk foam has a distinct taste to it that I can't quite describe and I haven't tasted it from other capps before! Not tangy, but slightly acidic maybe? I don't know - it's different in a good way! The tacodeli breakfast tacos are also a good savory item to pair with your coffee! $4.60 for an 8oz cappuccino, though? Could be cheaper. :( read more

Really, really good coffee spot tucked away in an office building. We had an early start on vacation and decided to pop in here to grab some coffee and something quick to eat. Very quaint little place. Very small menu, which I appreciated because not everyone needs every type of Frapp under the sun. They had Japanese iced coffee which I had never heard of before but since it was warm outside that's exactly what I wanted. The iced coffee was delicious and needed no sugar (I never really take sugar in my coffee, anyway) and a small amount of soy milk. I had a croissant which was soft and buttery and not flaky whatsoever (which meant no mess!). My friend had a cappuccino which was served with a beautiful flower design in the foam. Staff is friendly and lets you control how much or how little you want of milk and/or sugar. They also serve breakfast tacos (as does most of Austin). Tons of small tables and chairs to sit at and it's very quiet inside. Definitely a solid place to get some work done. read more

When there isn't a super long line, this place makes some BOMB ass lattes. Their espresso is delicious and I'm not sure if the vanilla simple syrup is homemade or not (assuming it is), it is freakin amazing. I had to stop walking on the first sip to stop and realize how amazing it was. I actually had to STOP WALKING! That's never happened to me with coffee. Damn it was good. Must try read more

The service was so inviting and a good start for a great waking up morning. Coffee was super with the tweed coffee. Meet our son during the SXSW conferences and the ambience was great when we arrived and not bad even during the busiest time. The coffee was so fresh and tasted like the beans were freshly roasted. Unfortunately Starbucks moved. This place is pretty awful. The coffee is gross, the iced coffee is worse. In general the customer service is bad, with two exceptions the staff is rude. If the lady with the dyed bangs is there you're in for a treat...she's plain nasty to people. Great job team! Way to celebrate your anniversary by closing early. Great way to celebrate the people who keep your doors open. read more

I'm a coffee snob. Ask anyone who knows me. Austin is full of coffee shops and I've been stopping at different ones but nothing too memorable until I walked into Houndstooth today. I'm pretty much a classic coffee girl, regular coffee, americanos, espresso or macchiato. Houndstooth delivers on this. Their menu is simple, no sugary, ice blended here that I could see. The barista was knowledgeable and could actually talk to me about their different options for pour overs. I was shocked! A barista that knows about coffee! I originally asked for a con panna but they don't even have whipped cream! I have to give them props for that! Anyhow, my macchiato was perfect and my friend's Ethiopian coffee was delicious! I loved the aesthetic of this place, and their menu offered a good selection of coffee/matcha drinks. I got the matcha coco cloud (not pictured), and it was good. All of their matcha drinks are made-to-order which is another good sign. There was plenty of seating inside for groups up to 4, and a lot of people were studying/hanging out when I went. It was a little noisy given how crowded it was, so headphones are a must if you're looking for some quiet. Parking was not bad either since we parked in the garage close by, but it was limited to 30-mins max on the 1st floor, so I'm not sure where people who stay longer park.

This place does get busy due to how popular the place is. They don't take reservations, so you have to there to put yourself on the waitlist. While you wait you can order a drink. He recommended the chicken & biscuits, cinnamon toast, & the b.e.c sandwich. I ended up getting the b.e.c. sandwich & it was yummy. The sesame challah bun was soft & toasty. The bacon was smoky & crispy. The bacon, pimiento cheese, jalapeño jam, sunny egg, & arugula in the sandwich was the perfect combination for a breakfast sandwich.
