I had to put a star to make the review but I wouldn't bother purchasing a car from this place ever they are idiotic and unprofessional I purchased a vehicle from here in January of 2017 I started the process with Johan and finalized my paper work with Micheal these idiots failed to put my correct address and phone number so when it came time for the renewal of my registration I kept having to consistently go to the registration office and explain to them how they documented the incorrect address and I don't have the documentation I finally got my registration the lady at the registration office who assisted me with getting the renewal had a supervisor call me after I had left to further explain how to go about changing the address I called Howdy Honda multiple times they told me they'd change it I waited for a few weeks contacted DPS to check to see if it showed my correct address they still hadn't changed it I kept calling and after a while I stopped September 2019 I was by a truck and the vehicle was totaled due to them not fixing the error the documents associated with the accident were sent to that address because my vehicle is still registrar at the wrong address I had to go downtown to get the documents I went to Howdy Honda to ask for the documents I signed when I purchased the car they acted as if they didn't know what I was referring to had me going from used car sales to new car sales no one had the documents I went there a second time the guy asked for my information said they'd look into the matter I return the following day requesting the same information and asking them to fix the error I go into the guys office explained everything I told him when I purchased the vehIcle gave him my name he pulls the information right up I can see where you can update the address he prints everything and pushes the documents towards me I grab them and leave he chases me outside asking for my license I told him for what I told him no and tried getting in the vehicle this guy proceeded to block me from getting in the vehicle to leave I made it clear he needed to get out my personal space he said he's calling the police because I stole my own contract he said I snatched it and ran out I could barely walk I got into a accident 4 days prior the police come they lied to them saying I stole it and ran out he forgot to mention how he moved me to block me from getting into the passenger seat he also lied and said he initially asked for the license but I refused and ran off with the documents of course treat me like I'm a suspect even after I told the police he never asked me for the information when I had come in plus they had already asked for a copy of my license the day before which I gave along with the date of purchase and my number a about a month after this they sent me something in the mail already approving me I'd just have to come and choose the vehicle I liked needless to say I went to South Austin Nissan and purchased a 2020 Altima very friendly people the process was way faster than Howdy Honda when I initially purchase the vehicle at Howdy Honda I was there for over 4 hours when I drove off the lot didn't even make it all the way home before the check engine light turned on I had to talk with a manager at Howdy Honda because they wanted to charge me to fix it read more

Hello, I would like to say that I have been a loyal Howdy Honda customer for almost 20 years. Previously, I had several instances where I would have to take my vehicle multiple times for the same problem but more recently, I have been pleased with the service I have received. So, why the three stars? Let me explain. I had bought my 2012 Honda Civic Hybrid new. I was told of its advantages with being a hybrid and leather navigation etc. as far as resale etc. Apparently, that was not the case when I tried to negotiate a trade in price on a new CRV. As I recall with my previous new vehicle back in 2007 Odyssey DVD Leather package, I was low balled then also and was told the same thing as I was this time. "Go to CarMax and get a deal." I had looked up Kelly Blue Book and for the condition and miles they had suggested it was worth a great deal more in trade in then what Howdy Honda had offered. When I asked them to reconsider the trade price, another sales manager (Hakim) came in to try to convince me why they would not make money on my trade and that a regular Civic was worth more money. I mentioned they were selling 2004 Civic that had stick shift for $5400. They low balled me for my trade for $3500 expecting me think that was reasonable. I had written what I had wanted for my trade so he Hakim but he did not see it because he was too busy talking. When I pointed it out, he left and came back and said that sales manager agreed if I would buy today. I told him that I could not until my wife test drove CRV. She was at a literacy convention at the Austin Convention Center and could not be with me. Hakim slumped his shoulders and ran in to get TJ and he said that I could not take my trade home because of what happened in the past when a deal was made. I actually understood that and it made sense. My wife finally got out of her convention and joined me at around 4pm and we tested a LX CRV and she was not impressed with the baseline model so we wanted to go up to the EX but did not have the color combination so, we went home with no new car. To summarize the main issues I have with Howdy Honda now is, Trade in offers are always way too low, Why is it necessary for me to get the treatment from Hakim when the salesman could had told me the same thing? Also, I had mentioned that I was VET and that I had a cheaper price on my phone from a dealer in San Antonio they did not have more money to give me for my trade. Bring your money or finance with you not your trade to this dealership. From now on, I recommend comparing prices with other Honda Dealers, arrange your own financing and try to sale the car on your own. This is not a place for one stop shop. If you get intimidated by the folks that approach you to make a decision now, you might regret even though it might seem more convenient. I still recommend going to Howdy Honda. My experince over the years with Zeke and Brianna are the best service advisors you will ever find anywhere. read more

Really unhappy with Howdy Honda. Since buying my 2011 CR-V in June 2015 from a dealership in another town I've been going here for oil changes at the recommendation of my son who had used them previously. Been getting more and more annoyed with their wait times and constant attempts to upsell, often without merit. For example, last time before today they told me my front brake pads needed to be replaced. I declined their offer to do it, and took the car to my regular mechanic who laughed and said the pads had another 10k miles on them at least. So today I went in at 7:45 AM for a simple oil change. They offered a tire rotation (at an additional cost) which I accepted, for a total of $65. The guy said I'd be out of there by 9 o'clock. Well 9 came and went and finally some service guy showed up with their inspection report and a list of stuff he wanted to upsell me to the tune of over $536!!! I said no, whereupon he proceeded to argue with me. When I repeated (at least a half-dozen times actually) that I just wanted the oil change and tire rotation I agreed to, he kept after me, asking me why was I being "like that." Good grief. I finally got him to understand he was not making any additional money off me and he departed. Took nearly another half-hour before my car was ready, two hours after I'd arrived. TWO HOURS for a simple oil change using their "Express" service! To be fair, the head service guy did comp the tire rotation for the wait, which was only right. But then he too started giving me grief over declining their "recommendations." I informed him, and I'll repeat, it's fine to provide information, but when a customer declines the sale, they need to simply accept it and not continue to push for the sale. I haven't checked into all their "recommendations" from today yet, but I have no doubt it'll be the same scenario as those brake pads: not necessary. Very poor business practice. They're convenient to my house, but I don't think the minor convenience is worth the aggravation. My trust has pretty much eroded. Doubt I'll be back. Update: As I suspected, none of their so-called "recommendations" were worth a toot. Fact is, there's nothing wrong with my car to where anything needs to be done right now and minor little things (again, nothing urgent) can be taken care of for a fraction of the money they wanted to charge. Yet they pushed for over $500 worth of bogus "recommendations" and then tried to rebut the review by claiming their guys found "problems" and were only doing their job and oh we understand how frustrating it is. Well the "job" was to tot up as many bogus "problems" as they could possibly try to justify in an attempt to sell hundreds of dollars worth of unnecessary service and parts to a hopefully clueless customer. If I could give a negative star to this dealership, I would. I made a test drive appointment with this dealership but when I arrived, the sales person Rick R. refused to honor the appointment after he unsuccessfully tried to sell me add-ons. When I pressed on the fact that he is breaching an agreement to test drive, he yelled at me stating that "I am not the one who made the appointment with you." Well, his manager did, and I talked to the manager. The manager apologized but I did not receive an apology from the sales person who yelled at me and wasted my valuable time. I bought my new car from another dealership up north. Will never do business with this place. And obviously, they did not need my business either. read more

Service center what a rip off... Most of the reviews on this page are about car sales. My review is about the service center. I took my Honda for regular service and the initial quote as usual was much less than final bill. I felt the bill was higher than my last visit anyhow after talking to person they gave me some regular BS. I just thought it was one of those regular maintenance where it would cost more. I wake up next day and my car won't start imagine my surprise when the battery suddenly died after service. I got a jump start and took my car to another local car dealer service center. I explained him the scenario and he read through howdy honda bill and pointed out that they charged me money for regular stuff that they are not supposed to charge. They also handed me a tire alignment report that all my car's alignment is screwed up, so guess what howdy honda broke my car's alignment because I got it fixed few months back. Still skeptical I went home and searched through papers to find bills for previous similar maintenance from another local dealership service center. What do you know howdy honda service center over charged me... Save your self some money find yourself another service center. read more

Buying a car is like going to the dentist for me. I cringe at the idea. But, I was in the market for a new car. I purchased my last Honda at the Round Rock dealership and was less than impressed with their team. Since I had an amazing experience at the Howdy Honda Service Center last year, I decided to try them first. My dad and I walked their lot to narrow down car models. After several minutes, we were greeted by sales associate who was working with someone else. He said he'd be happy to find someone to assist us and went inside and brought Justin Fuller out to work with us. I immediately put my guard up expecting a high pressure sales pitch. We told him we were considering Toyota or Honda and I was trying to determine if I want a Hybrid or Accord. Justin provided me with detailed facts about both types of vehicles. He gave me the pros and cons of owning the vehicles, but never did try to steer me towards Honda or slam Toyota. I was shocked. Then he explained the difference between the Accord models we were considering. He finished things up by encouraging us to go to the Toyota dealership and drive both makes of cars to see which I thought was a better fit for me. Before we left, Justin did an on-line JB Powers comparison of Honda and Toyota to provide me with facts about the total cost and value of both vehicles over a 5 year period. He was laid back, funny, informative and put absolutely no pressure on us at all. Needless to say, I went back to see Justin the next day and am now the proud owner of a Honda Accord. Every person I interacted with at Howdy Honda was a professional who seemed genuine and down to earth. This was the least painful car buying experience I have ever had. Not only would I recommend Howdy Honda as a dealership, I would strongly encourage you to work with Justin. He is a genuine person who doesn't just want to sell a car, he wants to make sure you are happy with what you end up with. read more

My first car buying experience couldn't have been better! I created a yelp profile, just to talk about this!! Initially I went to First Texas Honda. But...don't be fooled by the free extravagant coffee bar...they had awful customer service and offered very little for my trade-in. My service rep didn't seem interested in me at all! In fact, he seemed indifferent to whether or not I ended up with the car. So, just to compare...I headed over to Howdy Honda and thank goodness I did!! Victor really cared about getting me into the right car and also for my well being! I was driving a 1999 Jeep with bad tires and he gave me a rental to drive until my new Honda Fit arrived! He also suggested options for getting the best trade in value for me on my existing car! I originally had an appointment with Josh, but he had a family emergency and passed the communication over to Victor. However both of them met me multiple times during the process to thank me and make sure I had all my questions answered! After purchasing, Victor went to look at the new car with me to make sure I understood everything and to help me set up the car technology with my phone! I really appreciated the time he spent and didn't feel rushed at all! Chris, from finance, was great in answering all of my questions and being really knowledgeable about the company and the advantages of each of the insurance programs! Super personable and honest about getting the right deal for me. When I was getting ready to drive away in my new Honda Fit, Victor even took my parent's car and ran it through the car wash so they could have a "new" car too! Such amazing customer service all around! I'll definitely be back to buy my next car...and recommend Howdy Honda to anyone wanting an honest, dependable, non-pushy, great, car buying experience. A week after purchasing my car I received a call from Victor just making sure everything was running smoothly and to see if I had any other questions about the car! I took my car in for service (not the express service as I had this scheduled). Now I will be the first to admit that the name and logo of this facility put me off. I thought it was some hokey, bubba kind of place. Wow, was I wrong. This place is a state-of-the-art well-run machine. I knew that I had to wait for several hours for my service to be completed. No problem: they have a waiting area that you'd expect at a Mercedes dealer, not Honda. I sat myself down in their quiet office area, which is a separate room set up for those who are working, availed myself of the free and fast wifi and got to work. They have free coffee (Keruig) and two fridges full of free drink selections (sodas, water, OJ, etc). Outside of the office area is a huge lounge with different configurations, very comfortably arranged. Okay, this review is all about the waiting area because the service I was getting was a recall replacement and I can't say much about that except that the check-in was very pleasant, everyone was really nice and they got the service done quicker than promised. From start to finish, this had to have been the most enjoyable car service experience I have ever had. read more

I bought my Honda Civic Hybrid at Gilman, but brought it to Howdy for service. The Hybrid battery wasn't powering/charging in hot weather. I took the mechanic for a ride, and showed him the problem. He even agreed. We spoke with the manager at Howdy who was entirely sympathetic. "American Honda won't authorize us to fix it". American Honda said that Howdy Honda reported nothing was wrong. My advice: don't buy a hybrid. If it's too late, call American Honda from Howdy Honda with the manager on speaker. The final outcome for me, "performing as expected". read more

I brought my Honda CR-V in for oil change and state inspection. Service was very fast even though several other vehicles pulled up alongside mine. I waited in the lobby which is very nice as they have speedy WiFi as well as quiet rooms if you need focus time to get work done. I worked with Ed Little, who was very friendly and very helpful with finding the type of vehicle I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable with the vehicles available and we were able to find something quickly. He was very efficient with processing everything, too. I negotiated a price I was happy with on a 2012 Fit Sport, wrote a check for the full amount, and at the 11th hour as I was being handed the keys the salesperson Toby refused to provide legally binding documentation of the lifetime tint warranty I had been promised. Toby first said that I would not receive a warranty because I had received the tint "for free," although I saw that a tint charge for $250 was itemized in the negotiated price. Toby then insulted my intelligence by insisting that his illegible scrawl on the back of his business card constituted a legally binding agreement, and when I reiterated that I would require a formal warranty contract spelling out the terms and conditions, he aggressively tried to strong arm me by raising his voice and declaring that the sales manager TJ felt they were losing $$$ on the transaction and didn't want to sell me the car anyway. I demanded my check and all documents bearing my signature back, ripped them up, and let every customer I saw on the way out the door know in no uncertain terms that they were at risk of being ripped off. My husband went in with the intention of buying a car - he knew the year, make, model, and color, it was just a matter of negotiating purchase price - and they were completely unreasonable and unhelpful in negotiating. They asked what he wanted to pay, disagreed (of course, it's a car dealer) but then refused to counteroffer. He walked away and will be getting his new car from another Honda dealer. I just bought a used car from Howdy Honda. It was the worst buying experience I've had in years. I was pre-approved for a loan which oddly made the process harder. I had to wait for long periods of time even though some of the staff was standing around. I bought a certified car which comes with certain benefits and the salesman's follow up had been weak at best. Often during the process I felt as if the sales staff thought they were doing me a favor instead of focusing on customer service. The only bright spot was the finance representative. He had a sense of humor, was fair and direct. read more

Let me preface this by saying I live about a 30 minute drive from Howdy Honda and knew exactly what I wanted to purchase before setting foot on their dealership. No time selling the car to me was needed - I was ready to sit down and hand over a lot of money. I was also starting a new job and was purchasing a new car to avoid having to take time off to deal with the issues I was having on my then car. I was referred by a friend directly to a specific sales person at Howdy Honda because I was having issues at a different dealership. I walked in ready to purchase a fully loaded, top of the line 2016 Accord EXL and it still took over 7 hours! After being told the extreme delay was due to tinting the windows, when I was handed the keys - the windows weren't tinted! Not willing to spend any more of my day there I was told to come back with an empty tank and that they would 'take care of me'. I got home and realized they also forgot to give me the wheel lock key so when I called them back to tell them I was told again that something would be done for the hassle I went through. Two days later, the car's computer system crapped out on me. That might have been a fluke, but how Howdy Honda handled the customer service from that point on was less than satisfactory. On Wednesday I was told that the car would be fixed in a day, but the loaner they gave me was a civic - not quite what you want to be put in after purchasing the top of the line Accord. On Friday and still no word from Howdy, I call in to follow up and am told that it will be done that weekend because a specialist was coming in that day (Friday) to work on it. Monday afternoon - I call in again and am told the person who knows what is going on just stepped out to lunch but that he should be back and I should be getting a call in the next 20-30 minutes. Four hours later and another call to Howdy Honda I finally am told that my car won't even be looked at until Thursday because that was the real day the Honda Specialist would be getting in town. At this point I've been without my new car for a week so I ask to be put in an Accord and to speak to a manager so I could tell them how frustrated I am. The Sales Manager listened to what I had to say and assured me that this was a terrible miscommunication and that they would 'take care of me'. After explaining how frustrated I was at having to take time off my first week at a new job, I had his assurance that I wouldn't be called to pick up the car until the issue was fixed and my windows were tinted. Apparently 'taking care of me' is just doing their normal job because I had to ask to get something for my inconvenience and I was handed two free oil changes after being told they couldn't comp the window tinting. Thursday afternoon I receive a call telling me my car was ready to be picked up, so I arrange to get it Friday morning. After picking it up, I'm halfway home and realize the damn windows still aren't tinted! I place a call back to the Sales Manager who had assured me that I would be taken care of and was told that my car was finished earlier than he was told and they had called me rather than him. This might have been true but the tone he used was as if he was deferring any blame to the other department. In my experience when you have an irate customer the last thing you should do is blame someone else. He did arrange to have a porter drive a loaner out to me (another Civic) so I would avoid having to sit in traffic, but when I got my car back, the little things that had been promised at the start of this weren't done. My car wasn't gassed nor had it been cleaned before being sent back out to me. I really haven't receive anything of value for the hassle I went through and I don't know if I would even want to use the oil changes they gave as 'compensation'. Overall this has left such a bad taste in my mouth I don't think I would recommend Howdy Honda to anyone as their departments don't communicate well, and they didn't step up their customer service to 'take care of me' when I notified them that I was highly disappointed in the experience I was receiving. I've placed a call to their general manager to give them a last chance to redeem my experience but I'm not holding my breath. read more

We're seniors who hadn't bought a car in 11 years. We went to Howdy because we had had good experience with their service department. We were greeted by sales consultant, Staci Dunneback. Though Staci told us that she was a relatively new sales consultant, she could not have been more helpful or congenial. We were deciding between purchasing a CRV or Pilot and she did a superb job of showing us both and having her manager, Akeem, price them out with a minimum of difficulty. We ended up purchasing the CRV and, again, Staci was very responsive to our needs and had the vehicle prepped and ready for us when we picked it up. Howdy Honda in Austin demonstrated the worst customer service. The sales person acted as if he was doing me a favor by showing me a car. He also made it clear that he had already sold 21 cars that day and that he was not willing to negotiate at all. Even after that, I came in three days later to actually purchase the car (because I thought maybe he was just tired or having a bad day). However, when he saw me, he acted rude to me again, and immediately informed me that the dealership was closing in one hour no matter what, and that his nephew would assist me and that his nephew was leaving in one hour also. I asked his nephew if that was his normal mannerism or should I go to Round Rock to purchase my car, and he replied, "That's always an option." That was it! I left, and the next morning I purchased a car from a well-mannered and friendly sales person at First Texas Honda. read more

I walked into Howdy Honda today with every intention of buying a new car. Once inside I was so excited that the first car I saw was the exact car I wanted. I showed the car to my dad, who had joined me on my new car trip, and looked around for a sales person. I made eye contact with several salesmen...several... and yet not one person came up to greet me or ask me if I needed anything. They didn't seem to be busy, a few salesmen were chatting with each other, leaning on the table just looking around... I looked over at my dad my excitement winding down-we had been there for twenty minutes and STILL not a single person came to speak to us- I told my dad I wanted to leave, that it was obvious to me that Howdy Honda didn't want my business. I could understand if it was a busy weekend with tons of people around, but at 4:30 on a Wednesday afternoon with employees just talking with each other seems unacceptable to me. I have my heart set on a new Civic but I'll definitely not be going to Howdy Honda. read more

before i write this review, i need to preface it by saying this review is for RONNIE BONE- those 5 stars are for you, RONNIE! :) howdy honda, the dealership aspect, gave me two consistent experiences. my husband and i were in need of a car and were ready to buy immediately. howdy honda being around the corner from our house, we decided to give them a try- after-all, we were buying a honda. upon our first visit, despite having maybe 10 associates inside behind the glass walls, no one would come out and help us. my husband went inside to ask for help and they said it would be at least 15-20 minutes. there was even a man watching me from inside- still not offering to come out and help me. i suppose they decided we wouldn't be buying and worth their time? we'll never know. what we did know was that we wouldn't be buying a car from them. fast forward less than a week later. i pulled up to howdy honda in my brand new honda (thank you GUNN HONDA in san antonio, tx). my sister had accidentally transferred the dye from her skinny jeans onto our light leather seats. i stopped by hoping someone could instruct me on how to clean it myself but got so much more... but i'll get to that. again, a wall of men sitting in chairs watching me as i parked. not one of them got up to greet me but held their stares. (hey guys, just to let you know, you're super creepy!) i walked inside and the man already standing- also watching me- asked what i was needing today. seeing my dealership plates, my *not* purchasing from them came up. i explained my experience and one of the staring line of creepy car salesman, still staring, offered the unsolicited comment of "do you even KNOW how many car dealerships you passed on the way to san antonio?!" um... yes, yes i do. the amazing representative from GUNN HONDA (JD DE LA ROSA) did SUCH an impressive job- over the phone- a stark comparison to my in-person experience with your dealership already- we drove all the way there to give him the commission. i swiftly corrected him in front of his line of cronies and he had no retort... one of them even agreed with me. so as you can see, two gross experiences that had me wondering if their service department was even worth trying. that's when i was lucky enough to meet RONNIE BONE! i told him about the car. he cleaned it immediately, even sharing a story of doing the same thing once in his wife's car. he talked to me like he *wanted* my business and like i was... you know, a human being. he then offered to wash my car for me- as a courtesy. this was after the "snowpocalypse" and though our car was days old, it didn't look like it. the car was washed quickly and with an amazing attitude. i thanked RONNIE over and over and summarized my experience above prior to working with him. he sincerely told me he didn't care where we got our car- he wanted our business. i was so inspired, grateful and impressed. we will DEFINITELY be giving our business to him in the future. when i thanked him for making my day, he responded by saying it was a goal of his in the new year to make people's days... well, like i told you then ronnie, you did. you're the EXACT type of person we want to give our business to. thanks again. i've revisited your kindness over and over and it still brings a smile to my face. the rest of HOWDY HONDA could learn a lot from you! read more

I received a buyback advertisement for my car,and was told that I could get a new or used vehicle and Howdy Honda would pay me what I owed and get me into a new or used vehicle...I went to inquire about the program and when I went in no one asked me if I had been assisted..I waited in the lobby for twenty minutes,when I decided to leave,then a salesperson came to ask me if I needed help..Then told me my car was not eligible,without evaluating it.. I went with my 19 year old to help buy her a Civic. The salesman Gerry was very helpful in the process. After negotiating the deal of 72 months at $300, we went to sign the agreement. The person we had dealt with at this point was named Chris. We stepped into his office where proceeded to tell us that we were going to be happy. He had a GREAT deal for us. That for 2-3 dollars a month he can "throw in" a tire warranty. He proceeded to explain and I agreed it was a good deal. It will only cost us about $200 ($2-3 x 72 months) for a $1000 tire warranty. Once we started signing the paperwork, I noticed that it was "75 months". When I pointed it out, he apologized and said he forgot to tell us! When I told him that we will not do 75 months. Then he immediately said well I can't give you tire warranty then! So moral of this story, the tire warranty wasn't a GREAT deal. He was just trying to include that warranty and getting an additional $1000 out of my 19 year daughter who is going to school full time and doesn't make much money (they knew this). Which showed me they don't care about people. They will do anything to make money, including trying to pull a fast one. So be careful if you decide to go here. I did call/talk to his manager named Christian. After explaining, I was thinking he would say something like" sorry sir I will look into it". All he said was "ok thanks sir" then hung up with not even an apology. Showing me again they don't care! So again, Beware! Update: I received a call back within a couple of hours after this post from the finance director Trey Newberry. He apologized and told me he would give my daughter the tire warranty for free for the inconvenience. Although I wasn't looking for compensation, I felt this was a great gesture by the dealership! read more

The experience was one of the best no pressure enjoyable times I have spent at any dealer since I can remember. I was enticed in by one of their sales gimmicks which was ok for me. Not knowing much about the Honda line of vehicles I was curious to check out a couple models and see what Honda has available. The salesman, Michael Foreman, was helpful choosing a vehicle to test drive and made the experience well worth the visit. He was very friendly and happy to show me any of the vehicles that I asked to see. I would definitely go back to see Michael if I decided to buy a Honda in the future. read more

While my car was being appraised I looked at the new car and it was just as I had requested. The whole experience of dealing with this dealership has always been positive. Rob Dee at Howdy Honda sold me my first new car, a Fit. There was no haggling, no wheeling and dealing, just a straight ahead purchase, which I appreciated. I loved my Fit. So when it was totaled in an accident 2 years later, as soon as I got the settlement, I called Rob. Within 3 days I was driving off the lot in a brand new version of my little car. Everything was exactly the same, except clean. I hardly had to even think about it. I spent a total of about an hour and a half in the dealership where I had my fill of free coffee, and my 8 month-old even had fun playing in the kids' area. And in praise of Hondas in general, I had only been paying for the car for 2 years, so was worried I would be upside down on my loan and not able to replace with a new car. Not with a Honda. It had retained its value enough, even with 40K miles, that after the settlement paid off my note, I had some money left over! Next time I buy a car, new or used, it will probably be a Honda, and I will probably be calling Rob Dee at Howdy again. read more

Howdy Honda supposedly prides itself on customer service and satisfaction. I found very little of either during my dealings. I purchased a "certified pre-owned Honda" which I thought meant it was a car you could drive with confidence. My 2005 Honda Accord EX is mechanically fine, it is all the other things that made me wonder about the quality of the service. I bought my car through the internet site and that night I went and picked it up. The finance people were terrific. They went above and beyond the call of duty, and worked out a very nice finance package that was affordable and at a reasonable price. It was all downhill from there, however. When I picked up my car, there was less than 1/2 tank of gas. I asked about this, and was told a full tank was provided only with "new" car purchases. The next morning I got my first good look at the vehicle in daylight. That's when I noticed that my "certified" vehicle had no tread on the tires, and was told by a mechanic that they would not pass state inspection. Later that same day, I did more checking out of the vehicle and when I looked in the storage pouches behind the front seat, I found dozens of candy wrappers (with melted chocolate still there). Also found some jewelry (ring) and other assorted trash. When I pulled down the back seat to get to the trunk, I was dismayed to find thousands of Christmas tree needles. This took me the better part of the day to clean it all up. I was also dismayed to discover that no key had been provided for the lug nuts, and had to purchase this myself (which I bought from Classic Honda in Round Rock - they were a great dealer by the way). When I received a satisfaction survey from Howdy Honda, I filled it out and described my concerns. A couple of weeks later, I received a call from sales manager Paul Wendell, who was very apologetic. Even told me he had made a copy of my email and given it to everyone involved with my car and its preparation. I told him I didn't want anything from him, just wanted to let him know there were some problems with his staff and the quality of their work. At that time Mr. Wendell told me that he would "do whatever it takes to make you happy" and insisted that I bring in my car and they would provide new tires. I told him that his dealership was on the opposite side of Austin (I live in Georgetown) and it would not be convenient for me to drive down there. He told me to go get four tires from a local tire dealer, send him the invoice and he would cut a check to reimburse me. I agreed. I went to Discount Tire here in Georgetown and purchased TWO new tires for the front wheels. In all honesty, while the back tires were worn, they still had enough tread to pass inspection, so I did not by four tires as Mr. Wendell offered. When I bought the tires, I also purchase road hazard warranty. I faxed the invoice to Mr. Wendell and about a week later I received a check. A check that was about $100 less than what I spent. I called Mr. Wendell to inquire why. He told me that I was trying to "take advantage" of the dealership by buying the road hazard insurance (which I have purchased with every set of tires I have ever had) and that Howdy Honda would not pay for this. I obviously resented this personal attack - he made it sound like I was trying to pull a fast one. It was at this time that I reminded him that if his staff had done the things they were supposed to have done in the first place, we would not be having this conversation. I also reminded him that he was the one who offered to buy the tires, and was also the person who told me specifically that he would "do whatever it takes to make you happy." Mr. Wendell's response was to laugh, and then told me that I was not being reasonable. I replied I was only doing what he insisted that I do. At this point, Mr. Wendell began raising his voice, so I interrupted him and told him it was not necessary to yell, especially considering he was supposed to maintain a professional demeanor. That's when Mr. Wendell told me that he was not going to do anything more. I then said, I guess we don't have anything more to discuss. That's when the conversation ended. Mr. Wendell failed to live up to his promise, out-and-out lied to me, then insulted me. I can assure anyone interested in buying a used car should AVOID going anywhere near Howdy Honda and its used car department. They are rude, sloppy in their quality control, and once they have your money, could care less what happens to you from that point on. I was very disappointed with my entire experience, and hope this review will help others make an educated decision about where they buy their next car or truck. read more

I have had nothing but great experiences with the service department at Howdy Honda. I have purchased 2 cars and continue to go back for service. I have yet to find another service place, including dealerships, that are even HALF as nice as Howdy Honda. I came in this morning with a seat belt jam after going to another dealership where I was told it would cost $600. I don't even have a Honda, just bought it from the used car lot, and they were more than willing to help. I worked with the manager, Joey Gonzalez, who provided quick, efficient, and very friendly service. His service was above and beyond and really made me feel like a valued customer. It is noteworthy that I had not made them aware that my car was bought from there and they still gave me this service. I left with my seatbelt fixed and did not need to buy replacement parts and hours of service as the other dealership had suggested. They also have a service that will take you to the airport when you are out of town. I have utilized this service and it is extremely helpful. Over all, the prices are fair and the service can't be beat. Honda or not, take your car here. --My Acura leaves with a smile ;-) read more

I am updating my original review to 2 stars only because the day after I wrote the original review Jeff, the Director of Service, called and wanted to know what happened. Jeff seemed to know the meaning of customer service and acknowledged they did not meet the basic expectations. This is an important step, otherwise the lack of service I orginally received would continue. Hopefully, Jeff can do some education with the staff. It was not just the service advisor who contributed to this bad experience, it was also the other service advisor who checked me out and the service technician who worked on the car. Again, having the management contact me to get more feedback shows there is willingness to improve. read more

I do not enjoy giving bad review, in this case I have to. In anutshell howdy honda had horrendously poor communication. I scheduled online and took my car in 6am thursday and honestly I'm not even sure they looked at it that day. They finally called me back at 5pm to tell me they needed another day to evaluate it. Day 2, after numerous phone calls from me to reach someone they said it was a $2000 part that needed to be repaired and that it was covered by my extended warranty but I'd have to wait 4 days for the part to get there. They did arrange a rental but only after i asked about it and then they had me on the phone for 10 minutes while they arranged it. Oh, and they casually mentioned in a message there were other repairs but they failed to tell me what they were or quote me a price. When they finally got me my car back, suddenly without explanation the repair needed was only $250 and wthe parts had been on hand the whole time. In addition, i was told then that i needed 2 tires but never given a quote what those might cost. So when checking out i told them I'd just go to costco for the tires. I'm happy to have had the warranty, but the poor communication, seemingly over scheduled mechanics, wrong diagnostics, and over all poor experience i won't go back. There is a dealership north that I'll drive farther to. I'd give 1 star but it does seem like they fixed the problem. Time will tell if the car really needed the other part. read more

I brought my older model Accord in for service (break check, oil change, inspection). Long story short, I was told I needed about $2,000 worth of service just to pass inspection due to a leak in the power steering stuff. My car is not worth too much more than that, so I took it to another place that could not find any leak. They topped off the fluid, and I passed inspection with no problem. I guess I look like an easy target and they probably could have conned me out of a few hundred bucks, but $2,000 for a completely unecessary service is ridiculous. read more

Howdy Honda's new car salesman, Nick Rhodes, exceeds all expectations and leaves me extremely impressed with the dealership. How pleasurable our new car test drive. Nick answered our every question. It's clear that selling cars is fun for him. Nick likes his job. And, that makes it fun for the buyer. Nick's follow-up call was not pushy. We found a 2011 Pilot at another dealership with a Howdy Honda certification for limited warranty. From the competitor's sales desk, I phoned Nick's cell phone to determine the cost of a 2016 Pilot, just for comparison. Nick politely answered my question and confirmed we found a great deal, even with over 100,000 miles (since Honda's frequently live to over 300,000 miles.) Based on Nick's comments, we purchased the used car. As we ran into some technical details with our "new" vehicle, Nick once again helped us. This is like "Miracle on 34th Street". Yes, it's true. What a wonderful experience. My advice? For a new Honda, make an appointment with Nick Rhodes at Howdy Honda. read more
