My new roof you put on leaked, ruining my house. You knew it was leaking and did nothing but run away. You should never roof any house.

This is a disappointing review to write because I was initially really happy with them, and the…read moreexperience went downhill pretty quick. We used GM for both siding and exterior paint, at first they were extremely communicative, friendly, and the siding project itself seemed to go fine other than a few mishaps. With the siding, we loved how it looked but the work crew lacked professionalism. They left nails all over our yard, ripped bushes out of the ground on a carefully lined walkway, and pulled our front bushes down so aggressively they've never come back up and will have to be ripped out. The nails were a huge concern because we have a dog, and had we run one over with a mower that could have been dangerous for us as well. Months later we are still finding them. The contractors did compensate us for the bush they trampled. On to the paint. The painting contractors were awful from start to (never really) finished. They were unprofessional, left things in our trees and bushes, left garbage around our house and yard, trampled the bushes we had just replaced from the contractors (we weren't reimbursed this time), moved our fence post to a crooked location that we can't fix. Beyond that, we had a dark gray color with white trim, if you've ever painted over a dark color with white you know you have to have MANY coats to not have seep through of the darker color. For some reason, they painted all of it the dark color and then went over the trim with white, so in many areas you can see the bleed through of the gray. It looks tacky and like we DIY'd it. Additionally, we asked for the garage to be painted white and they painted it dark gray like the house.. when we asked them to fix it, they didn't open it to paint so as soon as we opened the garage it cracked on the bending panel and the insulation came out. I got in contact with the contractors right away and Kara said she would send someone out. She didn't, and that was now almost 3 months ago and they've completely ghosted us with a broken garage. They've also left their porta potty in front of our house this entire time (3 months and counting). Our neighbors across the street also hired them for siding and paint and they've also completely ghosted them for the paint. We initially would have recommended them but they ended up screwing us over so I'd go anywhere else.

Goran and Kara went above and beyond at every step of the way. They delivered top quality work, were always on time, followed through on all promises, provided a porta-potty of the crew, and are honest and good people. I met with dozens of siding and roofing experts in the PDX metro area and made a very calculated choice to work with this company, and I am happy about my decision. I recommend them for anything related to siding, trim or paint.

Fix my siding, and roofing in just 2 weeks. The price was greate based on the amount of work they provided. There were some highs and lows in my experience with KVN, but with several months behind me to give…read moreme perspective, I believe I can write a review that will be helpful and fair. First are the things I did wrong: 1. I didn't get any other bids so I spent the entire project wondering if I was paying too much. 2. I didn't understand KVN is a contractor only - the trucks that come out to do the work are going to have different company names on them. That information is clearly stated in the contract but, related to #1, I didn't read the contract closely and missed it. So I spent most of the project wondering how much more I was paying to have someone act as a go-between with these other companies. 3. Because of #1 and #2, throughout the weeks it took to remove old siding, put up new siding, put up the gutters, and paint the house I was always on edge and quick to anger when something went wrong. Notable missteps by KVN: 1. There was some miscommunication about a small part of the house that they considered porch and I considered house. When we realized this, first day, I could see their position and asked how much it would cost to add that part. I had three different people tell me they'd get back to me with a cost - they never did. 2. Whoever they used for gutters had to take them down and install new ones twice - it was the third install that finally worked. KVN didn't catch the first errors (but maybe they would have if we hadn't checked first) but they did tell them to redo the 2nd install before we were even told it was done. 3. The painter painted the windows shut. We didn't know that until after everything was signed and paid, so we just fixed it ourselves. But the contractor is responsible for the work of the subs - so I'll call this their mistake. What KVN did right was they seemed to genuinely want me to be a happy customer. I didn't realize how much that mattered until a neighbor was having some work done and I saw first-hand the difference between having a contractor who is hoping to leave the customer happy (KVN) vs. one who just wants to get paid (the neighbor's). Made me think I was ready to write a review, I hope it was fair.

The crew worked quickly, the craftsmanship appears excellent, and the finished roof looks great. During the roof replacement, however, our newly installed heat pump was damaged by debris falling from the roof. To Apex's credit, Landon took responsibility for the issue and ensured it was replaced with the same model by the same HVAC company that originally installed our system. We appreciated that they made the situation right. Unfortunately, our experience after the installation has been much less positive. Despite multiple attempts to contact Apex, we have never received our warranty information. We initially assumed the delay was related to the heat pump damage and replacement process, but the lack of communication has been frustrating. Our biggest concern is with the financing process. We financed the project through Apex's lending partner, 1st Security Bank of Washington. We recently discovered that the loan was secured by our home, meaning our property was used as collateral. At no point during the financing process did Apex disclose that this would be a secured loan or that our home would be used as collateral. We also did not receive this information from the bank in a clear or transparent manner. While we are very satisfied with the quality of the roof and appreciate that Apex addressed the damage to our heat pump, the lack of transparency surrounding the financing and the ongoing communication issues outweigh those positives. Because of these concerns, we cannot recommend Apex. Honest, upfront communication is just as important as quality workmanship, and unfortunately, that was lacking in our experience.

I had an active roof leak and needed help quickly, and their team was responsive, professional, and reassuring from the start. Juan spent an hour with me evaluating all of my various options, advising me that replacing my entire roof was in my best interest due to the leakage and poor craftsmanship of the entire roof (I had already had my roof patched a few times before). He had more members of his team take a look as well and give their opinions. Other roofers offered to patch up the hole, but once the whole roof was torn off, it was discovered, like Juan guessed, that there was more damage underneath than previously thought. The wood was rotting and the trusses were warping due to all the excess weight from two layers of roofing and long term water damage. Juan and his team replaced plywood, added additional support to the trusses and made sure the entire job was done right. Also, they provided a fair and transparent estimate, communicated clearly throughout the process, and completed the entire job in just two days! They brought out 12 guys and had two layers of my roof torn off an then replace so fast! They got it all done right before the atmospheric river came through. The quality of their work and efficiency truly exceeded my expectations. They even came out a few days later to do another inspection to make sure nothing was missed and they spray painted all pipes and hardware to make sure it matched my new black roof color. I'm very grateful for their prompt service and would highly recommend Country Roads Roofing to anyone in need of reliable, high-quality roofing work. We've lived in our home for 9 years and this roof has been a nightmare the entire time, but not any longer! We are so thankful and I know it sounds cheesy, but I actually feel like I made a friend. Thank you Juan and team!

We first used them a few years ago to side our 100-year-old home. They removed the original siding, made repairs to the sheathing of the home, as needed, then wrapped the house with a hydro-wrap, that would ensure that if water ever did get behind the siding at some future time, it would just shed from the house. They used Hardi plank siding and matched the reveal and surface to match the original siding. They replaced all window trim (why not since all the siding is replaced?) and matched the original design. They discovered that the corbels (knee brackets) that stuck out from the house at the roof were rotted, so we replaced all of them. They only use Benjamin Moore paint, which they have found lasts longest. Our house was sided by them 3 years ago and the paint, including on the south facing side, looks as good as the day they painted it with two coats. Now, we have just built a tiny house in our rear yard. I called Scott to come and give a quote. It was very reasonable and we knew that if we used Better Homes, we would get excellent work. They just finished today and the tiny house looks fantastic. They trimmed the door and windows to look like the main home, so there's a nice design consistency. Throughout the process, Scott Herndon has visited the site every day, met with me and answered any questions I had satisfactorily. As a final note, if I could give a score about 5 stars that Google allows, I would do that. Go with Better Homes, you won't be disappointed!

Scott and his team exceeded my expectations at every step - contract/pricing, windows, siding, painting, custom details, timeline and clean-up. I cannot overstate how anxious I was over this large and unfamiliar work so communication was a key factor for me and Scott never disappointed. He was either at the job site or called/texted me virtually every day and responded promptly when I contacted him. This may not be what everyone needs, but Scott recognized that I did and it was very reassuring during the turmoil of the renovation. My house is small, but almost 50 years old and had two layers of siding with no underlayment. There were hundreds of nails poking through the soffit, wires and service boxes attached all over the old siding, potential dry rot and rusty bars over most of the windows and doors. Add an assertive, anxious homeowner with some unusual custom finish requests and you will understand better the challenges Better Homes Inc was facing. Scott is very experienced, knows current building codes, and manufacturers' installation guidelines and can clearly explain the reasoning for these necessary steps and materials. This experience also means that he also has a great variety of suggestions for sound design options and will share the pros and cons of those options. He also has good working connections with other professionals so was able to arrange for electricians and a gutter installation during the precise dates when that work needed to be completed within my project. Since the completion of this project, more than a dozen knowledgeable neighbors have stopped by. They have complemented not just the final results, but also the quality of the workmanship they observed over the course of the full replacement of my home's exterior. I had already recognized this, but these discussions have confirmed my own opinion - and the drive to share this experience and recommendation. Finally, Scott is kind and respectful with his crew, as well as with this female homeowner. During the unavoidable upheaval of a remodel, those are invaluable and rare traits. Please do contact Scott at Better Homes, Inc. I am sure you will be happy with their excellent quality of work.
