First the only reason it got 4 out of 5 stars was the service was a bit on the slow side. However the food made up for that ! This is legit BBQ! Stopped here tonight while traveling solo through the area. Did my usual yelp search to find a local gem and I found it! Sat at the bar and asked for a recommendation "anything from the smoker and we're famous for the Mac n Cheese" says the bartender so I get the Favorite Two plate with ribs and brisket with a side of Mac and sweet potato fries. It was SO GOOD!!! I was very impressed and would totally go back. Didn't really dive into the corn bread because I was so into everything else. The Mac n Cheese is probably a heart attack waiting to happen but it is so delicious and creamy. He wanted what he always wants a prime rib medium .....we ordered an appetizer and waited some 45 min to get our dinner ...even though they were not very busy we got right in.....the server never once came to check on us while we waited for our dinner ... like check and see if we needed refills or tell us our food was coming none of it.....she finally showed up with our food ....my ribs were pretty luke warm if that and my husbands prime was an over cooked dry piece of garbage really...they gave him an end piece that was so tough he couldnt even chew it....i will never come back ... the waitress ghosted again for another 20 min tell she wanted the money...never once checked to see how we liked it or anything ...this place has really gone down hill. read more

You have to have the beans and zucchini fries, though! The place is in an old garage and the ambiance is great. The staff is quick, very young, and helpful. I can't say I have ever had bbq without a smoke ring. Pulled pork was dry and bland without a sauce. The brisket was served pulled - dripping with sauce. Guessing it was to hide the fact it was also dry. Sausage was decent and the mac and cheese was good. Prime time has better wings too. Sauce seemed very generic. Nothing really stood out to me. I can cook better bbq at home so I'll save my money by not going to hq. read more

NO REAL BBQ here, just pot roast baked in oven, with BBQ sauce. what we call in texas as ( yankee BBQ ) . they use commercial smoker oven, with wood chips from china. Only people who like this place are yankees who never has real wood cooked BBQ from the south. read more

Having grown up in the South, I know a thing or two about BBQ and HQ is fantastic. My girlfriend and I had been in Casper for a few days to see her family, we found this place on our way out of town. I wasn't sure what to expect, but the reviews looked generally positive. (Not that you can always trust reviews; the Burger King in Casper had 5 stars.) In any case, we decided to give it a try. We loved it. The service was friendly and the food was delicious. She had the ribs and I had the Andouille sausage. Both were delicious and the sides (mac and cheese and fried zucchini) were great as well. I don't know if I'd say it's the best BBQ I've ever had, but it's pretty close. This used to be the best barbeque in the state if not the Rocky Mountains. But this Thursday...I realized it wasn't going to last. We got a chewy rack of ribs which barely tasted like pork let alone barbeque. Took an hour and a half to get thirty bucks of ribs we ended up bringing home because we were out of time. I really wanted to like this place. All three of us did, but unfortunately the sweet tea was the best thing we tried. Slow cooked bbq is pre-made, all it really needs is to be plated. I understand that fries need to be dropped and one guy's fried chicken also needed to be dropped but it took 45 mins to get our food...for lunch. wtf mate? On top of it our food was cold. Like the fries, the mac n cheese, the meat, even the fried chicken were all cold. wtf mate? They don't have a two meat combo, but were willing to make one for me. I got the brisket and pulled pork with a salad and mac n cheese. The brisket was okay and the pulled pork was very plain. Two types of sauce, the regular (TX style) and the habanero bourbon (also TX style). the habanero bourbon over powered the pulled pork and did not taste anything but spicey. the brisket could stand up to it. The wet tasted like regular bbq sauce. If the food was hot I would have given it 3 stars, but I am very picky when it comes to Q. If you need a craving satisfied and can't make it to a Dickey's (not that Dickey's is amazing or anything, but its something in the mountain west) then try HQ. The owner was nice and came by before we got our food but not after. The waitress didn't ask how our food was, etc. I would not return. read more

This place was established in 2011, just about a year before the Famous Dave's chain tried to take over the town. However, HQ BBQ has solid footing to be around for a very long time. The food is ridiculous, honestly the BBQ I've had. I have been to a lot of different BBQs, both chains and local. Never have I been so pleased to take my fellow coworkers out to lunch... sometimes more than once a week to this place! The "Q Plate" is tender pulled pork, which I highly recommend. The brisket has some nice seasoned crusting on it as well. I've tried all the sides, but I have to say the brisket chili along with some classic fries are my favorite. And the sauces, damn they are good. There is the classic BBQ they have nicknamed "Wet", along with honey, etc. There's also there own creation, the "Bourbon Habanero" which I love. Personally, I love dipping fries in the Teriyaki. Some prefer Ranch, to each their own. All the meats (including racks of ribs) are smoked perfectly. Food always comes out hot and fresh. The prices are what I've heard some people complain about. My feeling is that people get what they pay for, and this place is no exception. The quality is there and the menu is priced reasonably. It's not a huge place since it used to be a gas station, but that doesn't stop its appeal. The look they are going for is pretty much spot on with a BBQ theme. It has a southern log cabin kind of feel inside. Your music choice is some classic rock with CCR, Rolling Stones, among others. The bar is a nice golden slice of plank with a flat screen TV usually on ESPN. Not a whole lot else you can ask for, especially when the food speaks for itself. As far as service goes, the staff is phenomenal. Everyone there is very attentive to refill your drink or get anything else you might need. In the 50+ times I've been there, not ONCE have they failed an order. They have even gotten every... single... sauce on the side correct as requested. Just awesome is all I can say about that level of customer service. I even frequent this place to get some takeout racks of ribs and they still get it all 100% before I even get there. My only complaints would be the place needs a bit of a face lift inside, maybe even remodel to get more seating. Also, I'd like to see more brisket in the brisket chili. I came here for dinner looking for the best Barbecue in Casper. Well, HQ lived up to the Yelp rating! I ordered the half rack of ribs (8 ribs) with the Memphis Dry Rub. I ordered the original sauce on the side. Spicy is also available. For the two accompanying sides, baked beans and fries. The table next to me had the smoked chicken wings which looked good too. The Macaroni and Cheese was highly recommended by the waitress but I declined due to a digestive disagreement between dairy and me years ago. For those who can, the Mac and Cheese consists of 5 different types of cheeses. The rib meat was tender and smoky. 8 ribs was just the right amount of food. The fries were fresh and the beans were good. If you're not as hungry, there's a 4 rib plate. Or, if you haven't eaten in days, a full rack of ribs is available. Here's the reason they missed as a 5 star or four. I suggest giving the customer samples of each bbs sauce vs only putting a very small cup of one on your order. The corn bread with honey butter is a nice touch to start your meal! The waiter seemed rushed and not to interested in conversation. Flat and to the point. The music was over loud acid rock. Just not what is expected at a bbq place. Nothing against the music but play it for the customers not the staff. I would come back however. Just a few points to put this place over the top. I had a great experience here. Most all the food is made daily so don't show up late or they may not have anything left. A little tricky to find, i enjoyed the atmosphere and use of an old Gas station. Napkins were dish rags, brilliant idea IMO! I had dry rub chicken wings and they were really tasty with a cold beer... A little salty but packed with flavor and tender! I also had the Pulled Pork Sandwich with the regular BBQ sauce and was blown away my the flavor of the meat complimented with the sauce!...
