Hello tasty nibblers out there! I wanted to write about my favorite Chinese delivery place near my home. It is HUA'S Open Kitchen. Located right next door to Gomez Tacos in near South Chicago. One of my favorite delivery options is Chinese takeout and Hua' s gives you a FREE egg roll or soda with $10.00 or more or a FREE Small Shrimp Fried Rice with $20.00 or more purchase. The portions are large and I save mine for lunch the next day. I always order from their special combination plate section on the back of the menu. Almost all combos are $5.50 or less! They include 2 pc Crab Rangoon or 1 Egg Roll and a Shrimp Fried Rice or White rice with any of the following entrees: Vegetable Delight, Szechwan Beef or Chicken, Orange Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken, Pepper Steak, Shrimp Chop Suey, General Tso's Chicken. Kung Po Chicken, Mongolian Beef/Chicken, Shrimp Egg Foo Young (2), Fried Chicken Wings (6 pc) and my favorite Chicken with Cashew Nuts! The Chicken with Cashews was great. The gravy was not too thick and had a very light taste of soy. It was more vegetable stock and plum sauce. It had a good mix of nuts to veggies which I like. Over all a good dish with lots of zucchini and carrots! I bet you to try and compare HUA's with Kwan's and you will see the difference. Call right now at 773-375-1800. Sample Menu Beef Fried Rice 5.25 lg Kung Po Chicken 7.25 lg Egg Drop Soup 2.75 Pot Stickers (6) 3.95 Seafood Lo Mein 8.50 lg There hours are Mon- Thursday 11 am - 9:30 pm Fri and Saturday 11 am - 10 pm Sunday 12 pm - 9:00 pm Remember Kwan's is closed on Monday.

Amount of food is great for money and the taste is great. But, they are a little stingy with the seafood in some of the dishes.

Definitely will be ordered next time we go. The honey black pepper flank steak with very tender with a slight hint of the honey and pepper that really blended well together. The portion size was huge for the price which was similar to the shrimp dish. I couldn't believe the food quality for the price. The restaurant is VERY small so expect a wait but you can walk around Chinatown while you wait for your table. People were complaining about a 60 to 90 minute wait so people did pull out of line. They do charge you a $10 deposit that will be deducted from your bill. Definitely coming back when I am back in Chicago to try different dishes.

This dish was the highlight of our dinner. Fried tofu was very tasty. The duck with taro , fried pork spare ribs were delicious. The crab ration was good. The price was very affordable. We ordered like the PERFECT amount of food and best variety. Roast duck: I honestly don't know if I've ever had duck before, but I'm a duck believer now. The skin on theirs was the perfect crispy shatter texture and the duck was sooooo juicy! I don't know why I was always so worried about it being gamey. They give you fluffy steamed bao buns, a sauce, and scallions on the side as well as duck fried rice! Turnip cake: Obviously a must any time I come to dim sum. I've never seen turnip in any other form than this. Japanese salt & pepper tofu: My FAVORITE dish ever. Any fried salt & pepper tofu always makes me happy. They use a creamy egg-like tofu and the outside is lightly crispy with amazing aromatics stir fried in. Steamed white rice on the side is perfect with this. Loved everything else my dinner buds picked and we were super full by the end! Service was good and food came out fast and scorching hot! ***Parking in the area is treacherous (not the restaurants fault, but reconsider driving if possible bc cell signal can be zero to none around the garages if you get lucky) ***Their website allows you to request a reservation as long as it's 3 hours before your desired time. We came on a Saturday evening around dinner time and there was plenty of room for us to get a table immediately as walk-ins!

Potstickers: Nice thin skins, good crunchy pan fry on the bottom, slightly underseasoned filling. Sautéed bok choy: Crispy and light with a hint of garlic, easy and healthy. Biang Biang noodles: Interesting mix of strong flavors, which weren't quite my favorite. I found it to be a touch too salty, and I was surprised by the tomato. Trialing the thin noodles was probably the wrong move; the thick hand pulled ones would've stood up to the savorineas much better. Large portion. Beef noodle soup: The thick hand pulled noodles were homey and delicious, just the right texture with some alternating thin and thick chewiness that reminded me of home. The beef noodle soup was quite light without any real beef flavor, though comforting nonetheless. Some pieces of beef were chewier and not completely cooked through while others were tender and melt in your mouth. I'd return when in the mood for a bowl of thick hand pulled noodles and maybe some healthy sauteed vegetables.
