Came here for lunch after church on Sunday, and I would definitely recommend this place! The only reason I didn't give it five stars was because the service at first was a little offkilter. I saw the hostess having a slight argument with one of the waiters that was originally waiting on me. We had to change tables because they put us in a booth that wouldn't fit all six of us, so I asked to be moved to a table. Maybe the waiter was already overwhelmed, sounded as if he was frustrated that she sat me in his area. I was given the waiter Jonathon, who ended up being extremely tentative. I ordered a espresso martini, shrimp cocktail, and the lobster roll with Parmesan fries. My friend ordered the lemon drop martini, cheeseburger, and regular fries. Her husband got the French chicken with fries. Everything was absolutely delicious! The espresso, martini and lemon drop with lemon cello foam we both to die for, I will definitely be back for those drinks. The lobster roll was one of the best I've had in town with a toasted brioche bun. The cheeseburger double meat. Patty was actually really delicious as well! Tipped Jonathon extremely well. First time here. Cute spit in River Oaks. The inside reminds me of an eastern seaboard coastal town high end restaurant, very nautical chic. Place is full of booths which is great for those who prefer over a table (I am one of those!). Service was a little on the slow side but was catching up with a friend so didn't mind. Went here with my family for dinner and I was pleasantly surprised. I'm not going to lie I was expecting a cute restaurant with decent but overpriced food, however, this was nothing like that. The restaurant itself was very cozy yet elevated. It was one of my favorite interiors of a restaurant I've been to in a while. My first visit yesterday was great from start to finish. The hostess was super friendly and once seated our server Zach was phenomenal. Add great happy hour drinks and prices, a pleasant breeze on the outdoor patio and I am definitely coming back. They only had cheeseburgers (full size) or oysters on the happy hour menu so we ordered off the regular menu. The popcorn chicken was good. Loved the honey mustard dip as well. They have an amazing avocado/guacamole dip - but ... they serve it with salty potato chips that were not a strong point and definitely not for those watching sodium intake. Been to the Dallas location years ago so was excited they opened a Houston location close to my house. Came on a Thursday with some girlfriends for a lunch date. The interior is very modern bistro like with beautiful booths, lots of rich wood & moody lighting. Service was great, waitress was friendly & the manager checked on us as well. We started with the avocado dip which comes with house made potato chips, different twist on the classic but very good. For lunch two of us got the lobster roll & the other the burger. The avocado dip with ranch chips were tasty as well as the deviled eggs and spicy tuna on crispy rice. They were completely booked for lunch via Open Table. Really wanted to try Hudson House though. So did my lunch date. I called in. They said someone cancelled and they could get me us in at 1:30pm. I took it. Decided to head in at 12:45pm. Luckily, someone else had just cancelled! So we got in for lunch at a decent time. The Yelp previous positive reviews were all right! Had the espresso martini, which is one of the best anywhere. Had a few more martinis, including a dirty one. All nicely done. My date and I shared the deviled eggs, salad and the steak frites medium rare. Everything done so perfectly! Best of all, the service was fantastic. Everyone from the hostess to our waiter... She was friendly with great recommendations, and if we asked for anything she would go above and beyond! Hudson house overall was pretty good! A great upscale diner/gastro pub vibe with good food. The golden roll our friends got and was so delicious! That roll and the spicy tuna on crispy rice were my fav apps! Since we got multiple apps to share, my husband and I just shared lobster roll for an entree and that was pretty good as well! We subbed the fries they came with truffle fries and the fries are so crispy and delicious! Our friends got the steak frites. They were unimpressed with how it was cooked - as they asked for medium rare and got rare basically and didn't love the sauce the steak came with. Also, the waiter put the steak knife/utensil on my friend's phone instead of just on the table itself. They did love the Mac and cheese though! ---Dearest Reader, I write with splendid news. The House of Hudson does indeed live up to the hype. Whilst I have dined at many a fine establishments, this exceeded my expectations. Our server Jaylen was on point. Super friendly and very knowledgeable about all aspects of the restaurant. The frozen Bellini with "strong amounts of vodka" did not disappoint (I did have a DD so keep that in mind). The food was exceptional. Hudson House is one of my favorite restaurants! I love the ambiance of the restaurant. It has an intimate feel with a dash of old-money yacht feel because of the decor. It's the perfect place for either a date night, a girl's night, or a night with friends. It is also nice for a late bit and drinks after an event. In terms of the food, they have excellent sushi! We had the Truffle Salmon which was a 10/10, and the Best Roll which was a 8/10. I've also tried the Crunchy Shrimp Roll and the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, and both were also very good. The drinks are always cold and delicious at Hudson House! The Strawberry Spritz was a 9/10, and the Espresso Martini was amazing! I give it an easy 10/10. Finally got a chance to go to this establishment and it didn't disappoint. The ambiance was nice and cozy. The patrons were able to indulge in their private conversations without talking over each other. The service was impeccable. We started with the spicy tuna crispy rice and the shrimp cocktail, the crispy rice was good but the shrimp cocktail did not taste very fresh. For entrees we got the lobster roll and the French chicken, the French chicken was incredible, so juicy and tender and the lobster roll was pretty good but definitely missing something the roll was a bit dry.
