We are getting our new 5 panel x 7 interior doors and 5 sets of bypass doors delivered tomorrow... (it only took less than a week to arrive!) but I got to see the beautiful solid core doors at the warehouse and I'm very excited to post a photo when installed. It was a pleasure working with Heraclio the sales representative at Hudson... he has walked me thru the process helping me choose the correct door style, hinges, flush mounts, and mounting hardware.. who knew there was so many decisions when getting new doors! I'm hoping I can figure out a way to have Hudson work with me when I'm ready to replace our vacation condo in the mountains! Top notch company! read more

I had a problem with the hinges on new Milgard doors failing twice within the first 1 1/2 years of ownership. I attempted to have Milgard fix them per their warranty, but after over a year of struggling to get appointments, 2 failed service visits, and other hassles our door was about as good as a window. In frustration I started randomly calling vendors from the Milgard website asking for advice, help, etc. on how to get the doors fixed. Hudson Street Design came out to our house and had everything fixed within a few weeks. They might have worked out some payment with Milgard, however they didn't charge me anything for a minimum of 2 hours of work (and likely more.) It was much appreciated!! read more

Well, where to begin? We purchased what was marketed as top-tier Fleetwood swing doors, a sliding door, and windows from Hudson Street. A sizable and very expensive order. The entire process has been riddled with failures. First, the order was promised to arrive within 5-7 weeks. It arrived after 24 weeks. We received no updates from Hudson Street during this process (zero!) and needed to contact the head of the company as our sales person completely ghosted us after we issued payment. Don't be fooled by the "Made in the USA" marketing -- the order was stuck in the Port of L.A. just like all the other items coming from China. Second, Fleetwood doors have a trip hazard running across the bottom. There's a 2-inch ledge that you won't see in the Hudson Street show room. When the doors operated, every single person coming through that door tripped on the ledge. Third, the very expensive, very "high end" front door won't open or close. The sliding door won't open unless you use both hands and push your entire body against it. It was bad upon install and has become completely unusable only 2 months later. What does Hudson Street say? It's an install issue, of course. What does the contractor say? It's the door, of course. (Note: they happily continue to work with the same contractor they say is responsible for this. Could this be one of their preferred contractors you could be stuck with?) Finally, after only a few months, the door handle has started to separate from the door itself. A third grader would have been able to build a better product in their garage. Hudson Street refuses to help or acknowledge any responsibility. We were fooled into the seemingly high quality of Hudson Street showroom, and are now stuck with doors costing us tens of thousands. That's tens of thousands of dollars down the toilet. Before you buy, just Google the brand that Hudson Street is pushing on you and verify quality for yourself. We stupidly did this too late. Finally, we had to pay Hudson Street 25% over the amount in contract that we signed. They threatened to put a lien on our property unless we complied. Yes, they did that. And yes, it is a shameful business practice. Love this shop!! Everyone in the showroom is super helpful whether you need a whole remodeling project or just a couple cabinet knobs. I am always doing little diy projects and love going in to chat with Chelsea or Heather or Jill about what they think would work best and what products would be ideal for the situation. Very poor communication. Right hand does not know what the left is doing. Stated our small order would take 6-8 weeks. It is now four months and nothing has happened, other than that they took our big desposit. They apparently do not value small orders, (or perhaps any new orders), when they know they are in high demand after the fires and do not have much competition. What a disappointment. read more

We had a wonderful experience here with Monica Cilenti. She was helpful, knowledgable and most importantly, patient in finding a replacement door and windows for the front entry of our home. Our house is very unique and our needs were specific but she helped us find a replacement solution that fit with the bones of our house as well as one that was safe and weather resistant. The folks at Hudson Street are honest and well intentioned. Quality of their installation was above average, and I enjoyed working with Charles and Darryl. That said, they have some real problems. Sales staff didn't know the products well. Has to research myself on line. Very poor communication and coordination between departments: Never notified when my sliding door and window arrived. Measured door frame incorrectly ( because they didn't know the product well ( Marvin Ultimate Slider) or reviewed the specs. They didn't realize ( or know) that the existing blind wouldn't fit in new Marvin window. We didn't know until the window was installed. Ver committed installation staff. Had to do some of the finish work ( filling nail holes, etc myself) as they didn't have the time to complete it properly Took 6 week from time of installation to get job completed. All in all, happy with results, but would probably not work with them again. read more

This was the worst experience I've ever had with a vendor. I've worked within the construction space all my life, and I am a designer and architect by trade. They had good reviews so I thought I'd work with them for my own home remodel before using them professionally. I needed a front and rear exterior door. We spoke with one of their sales reps in November (Michael), picked out the doors, and just had our doors installed at the end of March - 5 months! We were very clear that we were having our exterior siding patched and refinished in January and wanted the doors installed by end of January so they could be painted with the house - we were told, "no problem". Not only did we miss that date by 2 months I had to constantly call to remind the sales rep to: put our order in, order the hardware, send an install tech to assess our installation, send me an invoice, etc etc. Turns out the doors had actually been sitting at their place for over a week while I was trying to schedule an installation. No one called to let us know the doors were built and ready - I found out because I had to call (again) and ask him to check if the doors were built and ready for install while I stayed on the phone with him. This 5 month process was so strange, and unprofessional I rode it out just to see if they would ever finish the job. When the day came for installation, which was the day my wife gave birth to my daughter (that was a whole other scheduling nightmare with them) they arrived as we were heading to the hospital. We thought they would be competent enough to install the doors while we were gone ( don't know why I thought that), but when they arrived they told me the sales rep forgot to order the hardware and the old door jamb was more complicated than they had originally thought... Are you f**king kidding me... We had to reschedule... of course we did. Their door installation department was as unprofessional as their sales department. - We were quoted $850 for labor, final cost was $1,500 - Our credit card that was used just to hold the order was billed - without our permission - 2 days before the doors were even installed. If only they were as fast to install the doors as they were to take our money. - A sales manager was kind enough to offer some money back, but it wasn't nearly worth the pain we went through. What a pleasure dealing with Charles Brennan at Hudson Street Design. I had a difficult order of doors from 3 different manufacturers. He got me all the info I needed, was very professional, courteous and responsive. He never made me feel like I was asking too many questions or being too fussy. He even went in on his day off to finalize the order so it could be placed before we left for vacation. I contrast this with a terrible experience I had with another door and window "specialist" (not at Hudson Street) who would not return calls, was very short and not very knowledgeable. We wrapped up this order in 2 days whereas I had been trying to place an order elsewhere for several months with no success. We are rebuilding our home after the Tubbs fire 2017 and I've tried Hudson Street Design twice now. I just e-mailed my builder and told them I absolutely refuse to do business with them. Both times, I found Joanne quite rude when we entered. This time she assured me we didn't have an appt with her and didn't even see if one of her colleagues did (which they did). Last time I went it for doors, and suddenly was being asked about who was doing our windows. The gentleman was nice enough helping us with doors, but not very knowledgeable. The young lady who helped us with plumbing was nice, but simply directed us to brochures. I can pick up brochures on my own. I have found them the least friendly, least helpful place I've gone to in our rebuilding process....and I've been to about 10 places. read more

We had a really great experience with Charles and the team at Hudson Street Designs over a window order we placed. When we were told our window order would be nine weeks out from delivery we elected to change one window, less than a week in placing the order, to one that was more expensive. Unfortunately the window manufacturer told us the order could not be changed. Hudson Street Designs would not take "no" for an answer on a such reasonable request. The team at Hudson Street designs got the manufacturer to refund the window and in the process will likely get an additional order for five more windows. We really appreciate Hudson's Street Designs professionalism and willingness to place customers needs first. read more

Attention to detail; thorough; skilled; and, caring. It all started when I knew exactly what kind of cabinet I wanted; the size, style and interior. Who and how?? After meeting and her visiting our home, Joanne Wallace at Hudson Street Design designed the cabinet in conjunction with my wife and me reaching clarification on each element and aspect of the cabinet. After it was made, the next key step in installation, including doors, handles and related. Darryl exceeded our expectations with his skill and experience. He had the excellent assistance of Eudy. What can I say about Valdez that hasn't been said here already. From start to finish he has been available day or night via phone, text, email. He made recommendations on best products and best finishes to match our home. With his guidance and suggestions, we decided to replace every window in our home, even though some had been upgraded over the decades. The process has been easier than I imagined, and I thank him for the ease at which it has gone. This type of customer care just doesn't exist anymore and it is a shame. I'm glad I found Valdez and Hudson Street. I will be returning as a customer in the future for sure. Had to laugh reading Bob L's poor review. Have you heard of the phone Bob? We just ordered a new front door and a swing-out French doors to replace sliders. Charles Brennan was our sales person. He worked hard to find us the BEST possible price, which we were very happy with. Dave came out to measure and advised us that we could save money and get a slab front door instead of pre-hung, since the jamb was in perfect shape. Great! Eagerly awaiting the arrival and install. I was looking to replacing a 10-foot wide bay-window that looked out onto my new deck with some sort of door system. I was looking towards a bi-fold door or a very large French door system with functioning sidelights. There was lots of choices out there, and I went to lots of websites to get a feel for what was available. What I soon found out was this was not a standard purchase and could not compare each product equally, due to the differences in engineering (French doors with sidelights are supported by the door-frame vs. bi-fold doors are primarily suspended from above the top of the frame and require a super-rigid header like a thick laminate or even steel, along with supports that go down to the floor) This is not a weekender project, and most contractors in my area aren't that familiar with the bi-fold experience. My contractor is a master carpenter, and I had a second master carpenter who would team up with primary guy when the door delivered. Due to the complexity of choices here (I'm not a slouch in researching , coordinating, communicating, and purchasing the proper materials, with careers in commercial fishing military Spec Ops, two stints at Stanford and currently practicing medicine)), I decided to go through a middleman door and window group to purchase this product, with the expectation that I had other doors and windows that needed to be replaced and this door and window specialty group would extend beyond this project. Also they would have samples that would help me make my decisions. Enter Hudson Street Designs (HSD). I made an inquiry and was directed to Heather D at the Healdsburg Store, who helped me tremendously by listening to my parameters, giving me suggestions on brands and styles, making inquiries to different companies that my parameters. There were so many considerations, including which materials to have doors made in, type and UV protection with the glass, hardware, I bought a $15K three-panel bi-fold door and screen/blind system that was manufactured by La Cantina Doors in San Diego, CA (screen system was made by Centor, out of Australia). As I did my research, Heather and I were communicating a few-times a week by phone, email, and text, as there was a lot to consider in this project. I even made a special trip to see Amy in the Napa store since they had a different style La-Cantina Door that was very similar to the one I would order. Amy stayed late to accommodate my work-schedule. They also mailed me samples of the screen and blind material so I could order it to match me home's color scheme. After many different iterations, I plunged in to pay $12K for a 10 foot, three panel bi-fold door (Man-door on the right, left two doors bi-folding) from La Cantina Door through Hudson Street, along with a $3K Centor interior mount screen/blind combination product. (pull from the right side it is a screen, and from the left side it is a blind that is somewhat able to allow air to flow through). Heather gets the order in, and the delivery date per La Cantina is slated as 20 August- a little less than two-months from the order. As you can well guess, this is a complex operation, as the weight of the door I largely supported yb the header, requiring replacement of the header with a glue-laminate product, and support posts needed to be robust enough to support this new header plus the doors. As I learned, there is always te uneasy feeling for a contractor to order the new Glue-laminate material until the product arrives, to insure exact fit of the door, as the glue-laminate manufacturers don't like to take back custom-made materials that will be replaced by an item that is a new size due to another company's mis-calculation. So, Heather from HSD queries La Cantina in the early part of August, lets me know that the door will be late by at least a week, and with contractors that means re-scheduling, and pushing out jobs on all fronts and probably is going to cost them money. The doors arrive with the frame and the screen unit on August 27, and the doors and screen is correct, but the frame is someone else's. Immediately have my contractor reach out to La Cantina, who was less than helpful (see my post regarding my dealings with La Cantina Door for more detail, to follow). La Cantina said this was a warranty issue, and tried to palm it off. Heather had to go up the chain of command for close to a week to get the correct frame built and sent. Needless to say, I had a hole in my house ten-feet-wide that my contractor built a temporary cover for, costing me more time and materials, and him a delay in starting his next job. When there were problems, Hudson Street Design jumped in and leveraged the solution, got me the right frame, and the missing hinge from La Cantina. There was NO mis-communication or issues with Hudson Street, and Heather deserve to be applauded for a superior job from start to finish, and I will be doing my window and other doors through them. read more

Finally the new Hudson Street Design (formally Window Warehouse ) has gotten a Receptionist. It is so nice to call and get a person on the other end to help get us where we need to go. She answers the phone with a smile in her voice and is a pleasure to speak with. She is also the 1st person you see when you walk in the door and greeted me with a nice hello can I help you. I was recently in Hudson Street and the salesman named Glenn Anisman Helped us, what a wealth of knowledge and professionalism, We were trying to decide what windows to put in our home and had gone to another place and left there more confused then when we went in. Glenn took the time to show us around the showroom and was very friendly and knowledgeable, he was able to narrow down what we needed and offered to meet us and our contractor at our house. We would definitely recommend anyone going to Hudson Street, and talking to Glenn, beautiful showroom and very professional staff and now we know what windows we are going to use. When Hudson Street Design was in San Rafael they had a great reputation so we wanted to speak with them about our very special door project even though they have closed the store near us. We needed to match custom doors that had been made years ago in the downstairs of our house and install them in the upstairs of our home. They were a modern aesthetic with a frosted glass and stain-grade. The original doors are gorgeous and we were worried after the original craftsman moved out of state that we could not duplicate them. Along comes their salesman Valdez who totally "got" our aesthetic and made great door and hardware recommendations. He had the perfect design sensibility as well as a "we can do it" attitude. Pricing was very fair and no hidden / extra charges or additions.They were delivered two days early -- and look great. They really do look like the custom hand-made doors we already have in the house, down to the smallest details. Valdez was great -- constantly accessible via fax, text and mobile phone. And their driver, Leonard, navigated our hills well and with as sense of humor and got the doors delivered on time and with no fuss no muss. A great team... I just wish they would come back and open up in San Rafael again. Consider us very happy customers and we would be happy to provide a direct reference or answer any questions. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place for your home improvement project no matter how small it is. It's not worth the time, energy or frustration. 3 years ago we tried to use them for window coverings and it was an unpleasant experience so we used another Sonoma County based company and were thrilled. In February of 2018, we wanted a new front door and thought we would try to do business in our town, so we went back to Hudson Street Design. Selected the door and hardware during our first visit and was told they'd need to come out and measure before ordering. All seemed good and we were pleased. Then it went downhill! Multiple calls and an email to our sales rep and zero replies. I called the store and said I needed to speak with a manager to get the measuring scheduled. It was scheduled and Dave was great! Door was ordered and we were told it would be installed mid April. Longer than we were initially told, but fine. Then I get a random call to schedule the install which I thought was odd as the prior week someone else called and said the door was on backorder as there was an issue with the finish. Of course, they didn't have my door. Spoke with a manager at that time and she reassured me all was fine. I let her know their approach to customer service was seriously lacking. So fast forward to May, yes the door was ordered in February, and it wasn't hand carved or highly customized, and I am told they are finally ready to install the door. There had been a delay in installing because while the door had arrived, they were so busy servicing their other customers! Just what I wanted to hear. Again, no clue about customer service. Day of install, Dave arrives on time, is polite and a total professional. He was to take our current door to the shop and then return in a few hours with our new door. Unfortunately he had an issue at another site but Brad was now installing our door. Not a problem as he too was great. However, once he gets the door on the hinges, it won't close! The door was the right size but since we ordered it from the factory with a stain, it increased the width about 3/8 of an inch! No one thought of this?! Brad was emailing the sales rep who didn't reply and I called the store and spoke with the manager. I was furious. Lots of I am sorry, we will get back to you, etc but never heard back from her! Of course their billing department was already calling for my credit card to charge for the install and the remainder of what was due on the door! They took the door back to the shop, fixed it and then re-installed the next morning. That was one week ago today. Since then, I have been charged in full for their services and have not received a single call from a manager. I would give them zero stars if it weren't for Dave and Brad. Very unfortunate for a local business! read more

I purchased window coverings and doors from Hudson Street - trying to buy local. Came to measure, gave me a quote and I accepted and said to order. Was told they had to have someone else come out to measure again before they could order. Measured again, same exact quote. Ordered and had installed. My credit card was charged additional amount (after I was told that it would be quote cost only) for the measurement time! Called to ask about it and was treated very rudely. Customer service is terrible. Also ordered an expensive door that took 4 weeks to get and was sun damaged due to poor packaging. Contacted them about that and was made to feel like it was our fault. Still not resolved and holding up completion of my project. Definitely would not recommend using Hudson Street Design. read more

The installer worked clean and the window coverings are installed to perfection. Afterwards, I contacted Chelsea for a home project and she gave us several quotes and guided us through the decision making process. My wife and I were in the middle of a home remodel project and the window coverings that she helped us select brought the whole look of the room together. There website said they were open during those hours. I would recommend this company to update their websites for their customers. There is a reason why they have closed the doors.
