I would highly recommend Granite Inspection Group for your Radon remediation needs…read more Mike was friendly and professional. The reason they like inspectors like this is they are not deal killers and rubber stamp most houses they inspect. I dont review a lot on Yelp but since your home is likely your most expensive purchase I figured I would try to warn people of potential problems if you dont know what to look for. 1) Demand they take the covers off the boiler or furnace & look inside. There could be cracks in the castings the inspector wont see..Granite did not do this. 2) A good inspector will have the potential buyer follow them around the house to explain & point out potential problems. This did not happen. It was more of a race to the finish. 3) If the house has a septic tank, demand that they at least open the cover. We ended up finding out the tank was completely deteriorated because it was steel which will rust after being in the ground for 40 years. 4) Was told sump pump was installed when the house was built. How would he know? Found not to be true since there was a document found after our closing that indicated foundation repair work only 10 years prior. I can say he did a Radon test in the basement with a laptop to display real time data so that was a positive. The lack of a detailed inspection resulted in a new boiler purchase, septic tank & fields, and a not to code vented chimney for the boiler. Those are big ticket fixes that we could have negotiated a lower purchase price for the house. If u ask would I hire him again? Not a chance. Dont be like myself & learn the hard way...Interview the inspector your going to hire & have them describe to you exactly what they plan to do.

RUN! Everything went well with installation and I was happy until the problems began…read more No one answers the phone at the location Service technicians make appointments when you are able to contact them on their phones, then cancel appointments or don't show up at scheduled time. They don't call to tell you they are running late or call to reschedule. You have to keep calling them. I purchased and oxygenated water system, soft water system, and Reverse Osmosis system. The problems first began when water started coming out of the tap the color of milk. We were never told this was part of the oxygenation process by sales or upon installation. People are afraid to drink the water when they see the color. Then the water from every tap tasted of salt and was undrinkable, I had to buy bottled water after opening a fortune on this system. When I spoke to Stephen in the office he refused to get someone out until the following week. it took two service calls for someone to resolve that issue. I was told by both the sales representative and service techs that Stephen owned the company. However, the one and only time I was able to get anyone in the office regarding the problems was Stephen and he denied it. A few weeks ago my water was no longer soft, I reached a technician on his personal phone and scheduled an appointment. On the morning of the appointment I received a call from the technician because he he had to cancel the appointment and would call me to reschedule when he got to the office. I did not receive a call and had to call and text him the end of that week to reschedule the appointment. The day of that appointment I received a call that he was running late and he gave me an updated time of arrival, he showed up late. In addition, I smelt a strong odor of beer from him but did not confront him because I was alone. When the technician checked the water upon arrival and before he left, he confirmed the water was hard. However, he assured me that after it went through it's cycle the problem would be resolved. While I was venting my frustration to the technician about the problems we were experiencing he actually told me we were not experiencing any problems. I then had to run through the list again and he insinuated that I was the one that had the problem and I was lucky I wasn't being charged for all the service calls. Once again, I never heard from anyone to schedule the follow up appointment My husband then reached him and an appointment was scheduled. My husband told his employer he would be in late because he wanted to be here for the appointment. The appointment was scheduled for 9:00 AM today 11/21/22 and no show or call. At 9:11 AM my husband place his first call to the technician and his call went to his voice mail. At 9:17 AM he called the office only to be sent to a voice mail at every extension. Three more calls were placed to the technician with no response. We had the phone number of another technician that had been to our house and my husband reached that technician. The technician that was supposed to be at the appointment was with him so he passed the phone to him. The technician insisted with my husband that my husband strong armed him to come on Monday and that he wanted to come on Tuesday instead. My husband explained he took time off of work, because this was the day and time the technician told him when they spoke. If he said he wouldn't be able to get out until Tuesday, he would have scheduled the appointment for Tuesday and gone in late. My husband was told the other technician would arrive around noon and he would eventually arrive as well. We are awaiting their arrival. I DO NOT RCOMMEND THIS COMPANY! We spent a fortune for these systems and the service is horrendous. In addition to having to purchase water because it was undrinkable due to the salt, now we have water spots on everything because the water is hard. I have just filed a formal complaint with the finance company they use. I feel they should be aware of the problems with dealers they do business with. They tried to reach them as well but were unable to contact anyone at the office either. I feel as though we have been scammed.

That means deep, intense testing. Charles has been phenomenal in helping us decide if a house we are considering buying is safe for our health issues (and, if not, what we can do to make it safe. the tests aren't all back yet!). Tho he had to travel quite a way, his inspection was meticulous and beyond thorough. He spent nearly 8 hours going into every nook and cranny. He knows where to look, how to ensure the home is safe including the furnace and HVAC system. He was also very careful with making sure we would not overspend on unnecessary tests which we appreciate (altho we went for some more expensive ones at the get go anyway). And then after that full day, he hustled to make fedex to ensure the tests would be evaluated in a safe and expeditious timeline and THEN dropped off the cultures to the lab in person. Further, bc of the purchase timeline, he rescheduled other clients to be able to assess our house so we could get all tests back within our inspection timeline. He is also very well versed on newer technologies and proper remediation techniques for air handling and venting systems. Highly, highly ,highly recommend!
