Oh Heck yeah! I used the trusty 'ol Yelp app to find a place close to the highway on our road trip. This place had iffy reviews (in my opinion) but we took a shot and SCORED. How is this place not 5 stars? I was ready for a good sandwich and theirs were delicious. The staff was super friendly and even offered to fill our water bottles (rather than buying one of their awesome sodas from the case). There were also plenty of fries and sides that looked great, clean ample seating, and a huge parking low (--and for roadtrippers--restrooms!) I couldn't have asked for more. Love this deli! The food is so good. You get so much meat unlike most delis and there's a wide variety of choices of condiments that you can choose for your sandwich or you can choose something off the menu. I can't even begin to tell you how nice the people are that work there. So be nice! Do NOT upset my peoples or I will come looking for you. Seriously their food is delicious. You got to try those baked beans and their French fries/Jojos. They're very reasonably priced and the taste is just awesome. Get in there and enjoy the vibe! read more

I have loved this place for as long as I can remember. If you don't frequent this part of town you're sure to miss out. Great selection of original deli sandwiches not to mention classic fried deli favorites like fried chicken, finger steaks. Their mojo potatoes are to die for. Stopped in for lunch today. I'm sure I've been here 50 times at least and just remembered to finally leave a review. I love Hugo's! I love the staff, always greeting with a smile. Customer service is always excellent. They work quickly to get the long lunch demands met and they are organized with keeping orders straight. They have every kind of sandwich you could imagine and I love that it includes all the trimmings. I get a half sandwich on sour dough, smoked turkey with provolone and all the trimmings minus onions. I do the half sandwich with soup typically. Soup options change daily so either call ahead if you need to know or check out the soup board when you get there. In addition to soups and sandwiches, they have a hot bar too. It is hard to walk away without potatoe wedges (aka the mojos). Hit mojos with fry sauce is a guilty pleasure!!! They are made fresh every day and are amazing!!! They also have hot Mac n cheese and hit fried chicken if you prefer that over a sandwich. Always a good selection. Always a pleasant visit. Visiting from out on of town for Thanksgiving week, I heard positive comments when it came to local deli sandwiches. Came in on a Saturday evening around 6:30 pm. The place was pretty slow and 3 young ladies working behind the counter. We had a party of 5 with 2 & 3 separate orders. I felt like pastrami and envisioned a stacked NY deli type sandwich. When I ordered at the counter, the employee wasn't all that friendly or enthused. Obviously this was my first time and first impression that already started doubtful. When I opened the wrapper to my sandwich, there was more French bread than meat. I also ordered some fries that were similar to potato wedges. They were ok. My wife and son seemed to get better portions but were served by a different person. My daughter and son-in-law seemed to also receive a better portion that was served by a different person as well. One can only deduce that I seemed to have gotten the poor portion from the poor attitude employee different from the others. Just a luck of the draw or other factors could have played on this occasion. Anyway, it was not a good experience and the food was mediocre at best. I have to point out that I thought I'd use the men's restroom before eating. When I walked in, the toilet was stopped up with a big wad of toilet paper and you could tell someone tried flushing prior but only started to disintegrate a bit not to mention the place was dirty and in total disarray. A sad missed huge opportunity to stand for excellent food and service like I had expected. read more

Hugo's deli.....I had so much hope for you. I called in an order for pickup and ordered a special that was on your website. That was a task in itself, as the phone was busy when I called, called back in 10 mins still busy, and 10 minutes later someone finally picked up. When I arrived, the order wasn't ready for pickup, as the high school girls were too busy yakking away in the back. I heard their phone ring while i was in the store, and the girls purposefully did not answer the phone cause it would interrupt their conversation. Ugh... hire better staff. Anyways, they packed up my order and rang it up on the register. The amount seemed very high, so I questioned it and showed them the special on my phone. They told me that their other store would honor the special, but not their store. Really?!?! It's on your website!! They said that they have never been on their website and that the other store uses it, not them. Very, Very, WEIRD. Get it together Hugo's...... read more

Hugo's has excellent made to order sandwiches and some other assorted deli items. Enough about that, though, I'm really here to talk about their fries. I don't know what they do to those things, but they're little bits of battered and fried miracles. These are the deli fries you were missing all of your life and just didn't know it. Now that you do, please make your way to Hugo's immediately. If I must talk about something else besides the fries I will mention that this is the great sort of local deli that you'll feel good about visiting. They make a good sandwich, the prices are reasonable, and it's the kind of family place where they remember most of their customer's names and orders. And they make great fries. read more

I've been to Hugo's many times, and I've always enjoyed their food. Since my childhood they've expanded this location to about twice the size of it's original iteration. It's a lot brighter than it once was inside, which for some is a bonus, but I preferred the sort of dimly lit "Cobby's" feel of the place. Here's what I like about them, in list form: 1. My favorite JoJo's in town. Salty, with bits of crispy/flaky coating. Unique flavor. 2. I always order the Italian on the french roll, it's always good. 3. Ketchup with horseradish mixed in. 4. Unique fry-sauce 5. Decent fried Chicken It may not be the cheapest deli in town, but I go there infrequently enough for it to not be a hindrance. Worth a quick trip for the JoJo's alone, in my opinion. read more

I honestly don't like sandwich shops, but I went with some coworkers for a quick lunch and was pleasantly surprised. They have a ton of options when it comes to meats, breads and sides- the bread i had was super soft and had amazing flavor. There are also amazing fries as well as desserts! You know, I go to Hugo's multiply times a week as it's closed to my work, and home. But after this last week I don't believe I will return. I got there around 10:05 and the lady who opened the door got mad that I had arrived 5 mins after opening... to which I apologized even though the restaurant OPENS AT 10. Then she got pissed at me because I ordered a Rueben stating she hadn't started the toaster yet and if I really wanted a sandwich it would have to be microwaved. With tears in my eyes, I walked out after being spoken to rudely by a business I give quite a bit of money to. I can not even believe my experience and being dang near yelled at for arriving after they are opened. One would think they would come in a little early to set stuff up, and get it ready for customers. One would think they would be nice to returning customers. We really loved Hugo's, so this would normally be a 5 star review... But they recently switched their bread, and it's definitely not good at all. No more marble rye and everything is on a roll now instead of normal slices. It tastes like cheap, crappy, chemical filled bread like you get in every other sandwich shop. It used to be delicious and taste homemade. We are pretty disappointed as this was our favorite sandwich shop around, and in a sandwich the bread really makes a HUGE impact. Bring back the old bread, Hugo's!! We heard that many, many people have complained and even walked out, but the owner just doesn't care. I went here a couple of years ago for a few times and liked it. I really forgot how good it is. I used to go to the one on Fairview but now go to the one on 5 mile. The first time I went I got a sandwich by a young girl who was rude and didn't do what I wanted. I then moved to the hot food and the lady was nice and oh boy the fries were sooo delicious. I also got a sausage that was good too. I went again and and got a whole fried chicken with fries and of course another sausage. My family was in heaven. The chicken was cooked perfectly still juicy. Usually they only like my chicken or occasionally the chicken at Texaco. This is a have to for fried chicken and fries!! I did overhear 2 workers talk about the new girl that made my sandwich and they were saying she had bad customer service and we're going to talk to someone so next time I go I will give the sandwiches another try. We stopped in after not going to a Hugos in about 10 years. It was just the same! Best sandwiches ever and most are cheaper than the "JJ" competition. Great deli sandwiches, awesome fries and nice people. Sometimes their method of order taking is a little frustrating, they sit there and memorize everything you're throwing at them (even with multiply sandwiches) and go back and make them. You don't find out if they made it right until your home which can be a huge disappointment if they made it wrong. You just have to keep an eye out for the veterans or unwrap your sandwich before you leave. Otherwise, love this place, highly recommend for more authentic deli sandwiches vs. mainstream corporate sandwiches. read more

There are a ton of places in town that you can get a "deli" sandwich. Hugo's is unique in the fact it's an actual deli sandwich maker, not a fast food chain that makes deli-like sandwiches. Pick your meat and veggies from a glass case cooler, your cheeses, your bread and they will slab it together for a sandwich the size of a mountain. You may not have the selection that a Gandolfo's has, but you'll get far better service. Definitely my favorite place in town to get a Deli Sammie. read more

A friend took me to Hugo's for the first time just a couple of weeks ago. It's everything a deli SHOULD be.. down to earth and homey, with nice folks who want you to enjoy your food and a good selection of sandwiches, salads and hot/cold 'case' items. If I had to say anything negative at all about this location it would be that the tables and chairs seem a bit rickety. BUT I would rather have that than lower quality ingredients. Passing through from Colorado to Oregon and wanted a sandwich. Looked up some options and decided on Hugo's. Glad we did! I got the turkey/bacon/avocado. Generous portion of turkey, REAL, thick bacon and REAL, chunky avocado. It was really good and filling. I guess my only complaint is the "sourdough". I can't really complain because I think good sourdough is hard to come by. It was more like a white bread, which I think is typical and what I expected, so I was not disappointed. Also got the Louie. I love Hugo's!!! They're big turkey bacon avocado takes a big appetite to finish. Would easily feed two people but only one of me:) Their Jojo potatoes are addictive I often have to stop by to get my fix. Very cool old school corner deli feel I like it.
