We recently discovered a new spot and had breakfast at Hugo's Studio City, and it was such a pleasant experience. We found this place through a Google search while specifically looking for a restaurant with a large gluten-free menu -- and Hugo's truly delivered. Almost everything on the menu is gluten-free, from classic French toast to hearty burritos, which is incredibly rare and impressive. There's a great balance between healthy options and more indulgent, gourmet-style dishes. Even the desserts are gluten-free, which was a big plus. The service was excellent from start to finish. From the hostess to our server, everyone was friendly, warm, and welcoming from the moment we walked in. We chose to sit on the patio since the weather was sunny, and it was the perfect setting to relax and enjoy the moment. Inside, there's plenty of seating, though the interior feels a bit dark for my taste. The old-fashioned décor gives the place a nostalgic, almost time-travel feel. Prices are reasonable, and portions are medium-sized. Overall, I highly recommend this spot -- and we'll definitely be back.

Got the veggie casserole, which was good. But the star of the meal was the vegan Rueben. I'll come back on my own just to eat that. Ambiance was good, service top notch.

I came to Hugo's Restaurant with my vegan parents and kids. I had the Cali Benedict with potatoes and really enjoyed it. My parents ordered the vegan chipotle scramble and vegan French toast and loved both. The kids had chicken strips with fries and butter pasta. Both were kid-approved. Jake was our server and he was great. We liked that he was attentive and gave helpful suggestions. The space is warm and cozy with a relaxed vibe, and parking was easy since they have their own lot (huge plus). The only miss for us was the vegan bacon... quinoa bacon is a big commitment . Everything else was a win and we'd definitely come back. See you soon!

Met with my friend Véronique today, and we had lunch together at Hugo's It was a little loud in that place today: I guess it's because they had some big parties of people there! I had the pasta mama with fresh made fusillis, fresh grated Parmesan, garlic, and scrambled eggs, with a special sauce! Very delicious but very filling: I can barely eat a third of it and I'm full My friend a scrambled Chipotle, and she liked it a lot

Another wonderful place I've been to numerous times and hadn't reviewed! I know these things: Never had a bad meal Never had bad service Never had a tummy ache afterwards. Their Happy Hour is fantastic, $5 beers & wine and the HH snacks can literally be considered meals. Very nice size for being so inexpensive. It's a pretty casual setting but great for a cup of tea, something vegetarian even a beer. Always a nice time here.

I came here with a large group of friends and we enjoyed sitting on the patio for hours and hours chatting. It was a weekday so we weren't preventing anybody else from getting a table. The fried pickles were interesting as they were new for me, but everyone else really enjoyed them. I liked the chicken strips and the marinara sauce was a nice refreshing touch to your typical ranch or ketchup, dipping sauce.

Another outstandingly good lunch at Hugo's. The parking lot is almost always full. They take OpenTable reservations. Everything is excellent on the menu with so many V/V+ options your head spins - because you can combine anything with anything here. Light and delicate dressings, over the top salads, my favorite green casserole with cheeze, the desserts are tasty and almost healthy. The various juices and smoothies are definitely healthy. Love their (not) pastrami on rye sandwich! Pasta Mamas are so comforting. Eat everything here and feel the positive energy just overwhelm you about how this place keeps going for decades with the healthiest sustainable food on the planet next to pure raw. It can get a bit noisy so I wouldn't call it intimate but the outer ring patio is a bit more peaceful than the jumping inside seating. And some of the best coffee that better than most specialty shops.

Hugo's is amazing. Everything they make is fresh, delicious, and flavorful and most things are healthy on top of all that. I love their salads, and all of their lunch and dinner entrées, but breakfast is my favorite. The Machaca beef scramble is out of this freaking world. It has all the right ingredients including this tender shredded brisket that melts in your mouth and it's topped with pickled red onion. It is just the best breakfast ever, you have to try it! I also tried the Horchata latte today and that was so good, I think I have to put Horchata in my lattes from now on...

Hugo's, thanks for the service, the kindness, the food elevations, the ambiance and so many years. Located on the cusp of Sherman Oaks, bordering Valley Village and outer Studio City, this Coldwater Canyon adjacent (one of two locations) restaurant resides on Riverside Drive across from the Mariposa Hotel and neighbors Whole Foods, Hugo's Tacos and several local businesses and residences, making it feel like a slice of home. I've been coming to Hugo's - Studio Oaks (Studio City + Sherman Oaks) or rather Sherman Village (Sherman Oaks + Valley Village) on and off for the last ten plus years or so. It's cozy inside charm and outdoor patio (added on during the last five years) have set the mood for some great experiences and meals with many for me including a pretty cool birthday brunch with some choice friends/chosen family. I knew we'd be a group of at least ten or more so I wanted to make a reservation online (they use OpenTable), but for parties larger than four it's best to call in and with some notice (I gave a little over a week). One of my favorite things about Hugo's is how they accommodate a variety of foodie preferences, restrictions and/or allergens. From vegetarian to vegan to gluten free and more, Hugo's is here to serve #ConsciouslyDelicious I recommended the Cinnamon Swirl French Toast to my friend Fabrice, the only other vegan in my party and he loved them! I went with the vegan version of the Chilaquiles (the best I've had at Hugo's to date) and my friend Barrak had the classic version. Among our group it was a brunch smorgasburg of so many things from pancakes to eggy dishes like the Huevos Rancheros, Breakfast scramble and so forth. Beverages followed the same suite with fresh hot coffee, juice, soft drinks, teas, waters and adult beverages.... Mimosas, including bottomless mimosas were had! Having enjoy meals and beverages at all times of day here, for so long - I have to say I'm proud of how they've continued to grow, thrive and improve. Happy Hour specials as well as monthly menu item specials like their breakfast salad, shepherd's pie (can be made vegan and/or gluten free) and baked apple crumble are so many choice things to check out and enjoy. They have private parking in their lot, but it does fill up quite fast for breakfast and brunch on weekends. Street parking is ample, though may be a journey. Well worth it! Easy + super clean restrooms. Free wi-fi. Pup/pet friendly. Family friendly. All welcoming.

Always full!

I went to Hugo's and had one of the BEST dining experiences ever. The food was great, but the service? Next level. Huge shout-out to Eric -- he wasn't even our server, yet my Coke Zero never hit empty once. He kept it full the entire time, lemon perfectly placed, like he had a sixth sense for when I needed a refill. That kind of attention is rare, and honestly, it made my whole meal. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and on top of things, but Eric went above and beyond in a way I'll seriously never forget. Hugo's, you've got a gem on your team. I'll be back -- and I'll be looking for Eric!

Iced Horchata Latte

My husband and I ate here for brunch during a weekend trip to Universal Halloween Horror Nights. Food was delicious. We both ordered the breakfast burritos. You get a choice of pork bacon or veggie bacon. For my side, I chose a fruit cup. I also ordered an iced Horchata latte. Had to add some sugar because it wasn't too sweet.

Create your own veggie burger, 3 toppings: green chilies, vegan cheese, & guacamole. Side: butternut squash soup! So delicious!

My friend has been trying to get us to meet at Hugo's for over a year now and let me tell you it was totally worth the wait! If you want to have a meal that taste amazing and makes you feel good about what you're eating, this is the place. it is especially friendly for those of us who are vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free. There are so many delicious options - things that I didn't know were options - so now I am spoiled and I will be leveling up even my own food choices at home based on some of the things I ate here. I went ahead and ordered the create your own veggie burger, and it was not one of those high processed burgers, it was made from all natural ingredients like sprouted, mung beans, organic brown rice, fresh vegetables, etc. They also had vegan mayo and the coolest thing is you get to choose three fancy toppings (included) to put on your burger! I chose vegan cheese, guacamole, and green chili. as the side, I chose butternut squash soup because it came highly recommended from my friend. It was so delicious! Well, I sat at the soup. I was staring at my burger, getting anxious about how am I gonna flip the 2/2 of this burger together because they are both piled so high in addition to the three things I chose as toppings, I also ordered the standard veggies. In any case, I was able to put it together and hold onto it with two hands and eat it and it was amazing! I just wanted to give a shout out to the team presentation! I believe I got the Jasmine tea and I love how it was brought to the table in a French press and then I ordered mine over ice. That presentation is everything and now I want to go back and try all ten different teas that they offer. I am super excited to return to this place often. Since My Son lives less than a mile away, I will have many excuses to come back and try a lot of different things on their menu. I can already tell you what I am ordering next time... the quinoa beet salad!

First, their cafe de olla is absolutely delicious. This remains one of the only places where I genuinely enjoy ordering cafe de olla. Second, their food is incredible. They serve excellent portions, everything tastes fresh, and the food is just so good. I've had their taquitos and chilaquiles, and both were delicious. The only downside is that every time I've come, there has usually been a bit of a wait, especially because the restaurant itself is pretty small with limited seating. The inside is cute, but small, so we usually end up sitting outside. This is where their Monrovia location does have the advantage because it has much more space. Parking can also be tricky. Good luck finding a spot close enough where you don't have to walk far. We usually end up parking in the residential area around the corner. That said, the staff are wonderful and always try to be as accommodating as possible despite how busy they are. Highly recommend this place if you're okay with possibly waiting a bit for seating. The food and cafe de olla are worth it.

I came with a friend who is a regular and she gave me a lot of good recommendations of what to order. The menu is quite large, filled with tons of delicious Mexican breakfast options! I'm a big machaca fan, so that's what I ordered. As an appetizer, we got the molletitos with chorizo and OMG! It was absolutely delicious. I got to taste my friend's huevos divorciados and the sauce was so delicious. My machaca was different than what I have had at other restaurants, a little on the dry side, but I enjoyed it. Loved the rice and beans it came with! Another highlight was the Cafe de Olla itself! I think I downed like 4 cups of it, it was so delicious. Service here was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Of course, Studio City has a village full of good restaurant choices, but since I was already a fan of their other location on the Westside, The Six on Pico Blvd., I decided to give this one a try. So Saturday brunch it was! We arrived earlier to avoid crowds at 10:45, and we had the place all to ourselves until 11:15. Reservations were made via Yelp, but we obviously didn't need them. I was a bit surprised, but small groups eventually trickled in slowly. ** THE CHOW ** My brunch date ordered a California omelet, made with brie, red bell, caramelized onions, and topped with half an avocado. The breakfast potatoes on the side were very yummy and the omelet was tasty too. Did I mention I'm a glutton for brunch? Well, I decided to eat one like one. And the Knife & Fork Chicken + Waffles was just right for my appetite. It satisfied the fried chicken cravings I had racked up over an entire week. I liked that the chicken was boneless, skinless, buttermilk-battered, and crispy. The fancy "red devil gravy" is basically a watery Tapatio for dunking or (if you're like me) for drowning your chicken in heat. Don't worry, they've got Cholula as well. Also, I love the effort in naming this menu item. However, I was a bit disappointed to find out that the jalapeño rosemary syrup on the online menu was only regular maple syrup IRL. Overall, the waffles are quite dense so it adds a good balance of hot 'n' sweet. ** THE SERVICE ** Servers at The Six were attentive. Food was delivered quickly. There were frequent check-ins with various staff members at each of the tables. The wait staff worked well together, covering each other's duties -- that was nice to see. ** THE VIBE ** There are lots of Instagram-worthy backdrops and charming little signs strewn around the restaurant. The decor and vibe give a nod to the "Society of Six" artists from the 1920s Prohibition era, who lived together in a cabin in Northern California that they dubbed the "Chow House", where they inspired each other in creating art. The reclaimed wood planks and cast iron skillets are used as plates on several menu items as a subtle accent and cozy, cabin vibe. I imagine twinkle lights add to the effect during the evening time. Next time I want to shovel brunch into my pie hole like a bottomless mimosa glass, I'll come back for the Apple Pie French Toast. That's with a side of bacon (not the bacon inside the French toast as the menu writeup may suggest). I hear that the cinnamon apple pie filling is amazing. I guess I'll have to come back for seconds and pair it with a bottomless Mimosa for $25 (avail Saturdays & Sundays, 10am - 3pm).
