Tasty flavors and a fair value! Falafel balls had great flavor - only wish the entree portion had more of them or they were bigger. Tasted very fresh and nice crisp outside with a soft inside. The hummus was super creamy and delicious. Went well with the soft pita. French fries were thick and worked with the hummus too (but I did think it was a little random) The cabbage didn't really taste like anything but it mixed well with the cucumber tomato salad. I live in the Outer Richmond neighborhood. I have been going here since this place opened. Today I ordered the wrap sandwich. Very disappointing experience overall. First of all the man working the counter had terrible customer service. He never explained what was in the wrap. When my order came it was this huge wrap that was cold. Not even the pita bread was heated. The wrap was filled with pickles. Overall, the filling was bland and overly salty. I am a huge fan of wrap sandwiches, and quite frankly this is one of the worst wrap sandwiches I have ever had. Not exactly the food I tend to gravitate to but there was a ToGoodToGo offer so I decided to check out Hummus Bodega. Happily I can say that I was very happy with my Dinner option, and was impressed with how the kitchen made sure each order was prepared at the time of pickup. The meal provided was a very generous serving of Creamy Tasty Hummus, Fresh Pita, and a wonderfully healthy Salad. In truth I was craving a hearty salad , and resisted the urge to add additional carbs to pair with the Hummus. I found the food to be fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. As for parking it's hit and miss depending on the time of day, but there was ample parking today in the late afternoon of Monday. Regarding seating there is both indoor & outdoor seating though the external seating might be best on pleasant days or nights. I come here all the time because everything on their menu is bomb!! And vegan/vegetarian which is awesome. I specially love their pita Tel Aviv sandwich with eggplant and egg! I was so surprised by how delicious this was. The egg and fried eggplant go so well together, including all the sauces. This time I go their Shakshuka plate, which came with a whole loaf of challah bread, fries and a cucumber tomato salad. I love that they give tahini with it- it's my fav besides from hummus:) Super filling, super delicious, super worth it and the staff are sooo friendly! I love that they are of walking distance from me!! Located on a busy part of Geary Blvd so parking can be a challenge on 20th Ave. They have a big display that you can use to order. It's senior friendly with pictures of everything. It can be daunting. I kind of knew what I wanted because I had been perusing the Yelp pics. If you go later in the day a few things may not be available. I ordered the Tel Aviv and the Falafel Salad. I love the Tel Aviv plate! Slices of eggplant, hummus, pickles, cucumber & tomatoes! Everything seems to go together well. The Falafel Salad not so much. The Falafels were kinda hard. I live a few blocks away and this was my first time here. There food was not bad. I enjoyed the hummus we got and the fires. One thing that I would recommend changing is the ketchup. They don't not have those big packaged ketchup, but those tiny packs that you would get at a fast food place. My husband and I had spent the morning at the Sargent exhibit at the Legion of Honor and this place popped up on my yelp. We drove over and found parking in the local neighborhood and walked about to black to this medium-sized, but unassuming place. We started at the colorful menu for awhile unable to decide between the Tel Aviv and the shashuka. We decided on the Tel Aviv and I got the Schnitzel with a side of falafel. After ordering on the touchscreen, we realized that we forgot to order drinks and went back. We both for the pomenade. There were no signs or instructions, so we grabbed them out of the fridge and went to wait for our dine in order. After about 5 minutes, the man, who I assumed to be the owner, dropped off some straws for us. The drink is very tart, but refreshing. When the food arrived, our jaws dropped. We had clearly ordered enough for an army. The food was beautifully plates and I had no idea where to start, so I dipped into the hummus with my fries. I kid you not, this place makes me want to drink their hummus as a smoothie. It was so rich, creamy, smooth and just plain phenomenal. Everything on the table was fresh, bright and holy wow, you definitely get bang for your buck. The chicken schnitzel was a surprise, but when I broke the pita in half, added the Schnitzel, the salad, the friends, the hummus and the spicy green sauce, I was in heaven. I ordered the Bodega Style Hummus Bowl, a Tel Aviv Pita Sandwich, and a side of falafels. The vegetables were so fresh in the hummus bowl. The hummus itself was amazing. I liked that there were whole chickpeas in it as well as it added more textures to the bowl. It was also very filling, but it wasn't heavy at all. The best thing though was the pita bread. I should've ordered another one. The pita was thick and fluffy. The overall order was a lot since it also came with a salad and fries. Fries were standard. Salad was good and refreshing. Tel Aviv Pita Sandwich was good. I thought it was really savory even though there wasn't any meat which was great. I had a few bites of it, but it was super satisfying. The egg was just amazing. The pickles that came with it were just okay. I thought they were too vinegar-y without having much other flavor. Falafels were okay. They're kind of small, so it's perfect for snacking. My one complaint - this restaurant really really really needs new, cafe-like tables. The current tables are wobbly and beat down. We got the bodega hummus (came with one pita), a pita falafel, and fries. I wish the bodega hummus came with more pita because it was sooo fluffy and I couldn't stop eating it! The bodega hummus had chopped tomatoes, onions, and tahini. The pita falafel was delicious, but could use a spice/acidity component to take it to the next level. The falafels were amazing though! Super crispy on the outside and hot and fresh on the inside. The fries were cold by the time we ate them, so they were just okay. We liked the little side of chopped vegetables too. The co-owner Matan came out and let us try some of their regular hummus, and it was amazing!! There was olive oil drizzled on it and it was so silky and creamy. When this opened up (opening during Covid no less) I had to go here. Having been to Israel a number of times, I miss the true fresh hummus vs the store-bought available here. The Bodega did not disappoint. We ordered a large selection of bowls such as the Classic, Forest, and Bodega style as well as some Falafel, pita, Tahini dip, and olives for a covid bubble dinner with another couple. Don't worry, they are in our social bubble with restricted interactions and all tested negative in advance. Everything was very good and the Forest was my favorite. SO good, so fresh, so tasty. It brought me back to the evenings walking along the beach in Herzliya in the evening. One warning, unlike the Sabra and other brands you buy at the store, this will not last. You need to eat it within 2 or 3 days for it to be fresh and tasty - maybe 4 days at the most. That is what fresh food is all about. read more
