Solid falafel here. Fried fresh to order, seasoned nicely, and not oily tasting at all. Light and crispy, I could eat so many of these. A dozen for $12.

Came here for lunch because I was in desperate need of some Mediterranean food, which isn't all too easy to come by in the sunset. We ordered a Chicken shawarma plate, side of falafels, Baba Ghanouj, and 2 Kibbeh. Winners were the falafels and the hummus (came with the shawarma plate), the falafels were probably some of the better ones I've had, and there's just something about a super creamy homemade hummus. The shawarma seemed to have more onion than it did chicken, which was a bummer at over $20 a plate, it was also shredded super thin, so there were a lot of bites that were 80% onion. I'd probably try a kebab next time to enjoy something more meaty. Service was friendly and food came up pretty quickly even though it was one guy working and someone had placed an order right before us.

The falafel here is the actual best I've ever had! Great service, plenty of space to eat inside, and lots of delicious options to choose from. Hot lentil soup was good too!

This location has been around for a while now since 1984. The first time I ever ate a falafel it came from here , leave it to Unc to show us the way. This is the flag ship store, It's definitely seen better days. Although the parking maybe difficult I come here for a consistent falafel. A dozen for $10 or $6 for half a dozen. It's definitely not as Prestige as it once size and taste but there's a reason why they been here the longest

Date: 8/24/2024 Time: 2:35 PM 71° Sunny No, I did not travel to San Francisco to purchase an avocado falafel sandwich, hummus and pita bread. It is quite a way (about 10 miles) from Oakland Chinatown. There are at least four trucks at this event. Jollof is one of the vendors, and Sunrise Deli's is also at the 35th Oakland Chinatown Street Fest. Jollof does not accept cash, but Sunrise does. Okay, I opt for the latter. I want something different. I already have eaten a chicken cage pastry (gai loong) from Big Dish Restaurant. Upon perusing Sunrise's menu board, the description of the avocado falafel sandwich appears delicious. Another thing, I don't remember the last time I had hummus. Gentleman assisting me is friendly and pleasant. No line at this food truck. The food is prepared fresh. Cost is $23. I give him a $5.00 tip for prompt service. I am content and happy Sunrise Deli is here at Street Fest to serve me lunch. My sandwich and hummus are on point.

    1. The place is really dirty inside. The napkin holder, tables, and walls are all sticky from old grease. Because of the poor ventilation, all the cooking grease settles on every surface. Can't they just grab some cleaner and wipe it down? The dining area is combined with the storage room, so half the space is piled up with boxes and bags. 2. The staff is completely unfriendly. The employee didn't even say hello, didn't smile, didn't offer any drinks. They just don't seem to care about customers at all. And it's not like they were busy--I was the only person there the whole time. 3. The food. I ordered a chicken shawarma plate, but it's nothing like what you'd expect when you order that dish. Normally it comes with a side of rice, and the meat is roasted on a vertical spit. Here, the guy just pulled some fried chicken with onions out of the fridge and heated it up in the microwave, pita included. No side dish at all. The meat was overcooked, half onions and half chicken. I've never seen shawarma served like that. The vegetable salad was definitely not fresh--it had a strong sour smell, probably from lemon or vinegar they added to hide how old it was.

Exterior, easy to walk by it. Next to the corner grocery store.

Falafel was so delicious that I bought a dozen to bring home. I also had the chicken kebab and picked 2 sides. I've been coming here for decades. Wonderful small local dining.

$50 for this?"It's from Turkey" he said. We should have walked out. They were cold and hard. This had to be from an expired box in the back

I've been going to the Sunrise Deli location in the Inner Sunset since the 1990s. It's a place I used to visit with family, friends, and anyone I wanted to introduce to what I believed was the best falafel in town. Sadly, I can't say that anymore. After my most recent visit, I will never return. My sister was visiting from out of town, and we decided to stop by for some falafel and Turkish delight (lokum). I'm Turkish and have grown up eating lokum since I was an infant, straight from Turkey. We were excited to see the offerings when we walked in and wanted to buy everything. We saw about 10 pieces of lokum on display and asked to buy all of them. The older gentleman at the counter mentioned he had more in the back and asked how many we wanted. We requested 50 pieces, and when he brought them out, he charged us $50--$1 per piece! He claimed the lokum was from Turkey, justifying the high price, but we felt completely taken advantage of. Lokum has always been sold by weight, and we've never paid anything close to this amount. Ever. Even from Turkey. When we tried to dispute the cost, we were faced with pushback, leaving us frustrated and unheard. Despite this, we decided to order 12 falafel, but our experience went from bad to worse. The falafel was undercooked, and the lokum was stale and hard. If it truly came from Turkey, it must have been sitting around for a long time because authentic Turkish delight is always soft and fresh. This was a heartbreaking experience. What once was a place I cherished has left me feeling disappointed and disrespected. It's especially disheartening to feel as though we may have been treated unfairly due to assumptions about us. Shame on the man for taking advantage of customers and serving subpar food. I can't recommend this place anymore and will not be returning. Ever.

I'm sure there are other Persian cafés and restaurants as good as Lavash. I hardly stop to think about what made Lavash interesting. A clear teapot filled with saffron tea with rock candy on a stick; seen how they dip it in after pouring the tea. Interesting orange color indeed! A plate of zucchini, grape tomatoes, Moroccan mint leaves, and a pair of Bulgarian cheese; complimentary for my first visit here. Persian noodle soup, filled with beans, chickpeas, and lentils; loved the floral notes in every spoonful. Main course, veggie kabob on a bed of basmati rice drenched in saffron and spices, along with some onions and mushrooms, and of course, a large Lavash bread at the bottom to fill the whole plate. The best part is to completely sandwich wrap after I marginalized the contents on the plate. Ahhh! Satisfying to the last bite of herbs and spices. Not filling though, but I had no need for any dessert. Another highly recommended place to eat for locals and tourists alike. I let some of my friends know how much they'll love the best Persian dishes locals raved about. Thumbs up for the people of Lavash!

The Combo Kebab Plate was an equally delicious collection of three grilled meat kebabs--I chose the chicken shish tawook, the lamb shish kebab, and the ground beef kafta. My favorite components of these dishes were the falafel and hummus, which went perfectly together with the grilled pita and the flavorful condiments. But a final favorite dish of mine was the Zahra Be Laben, a stew of fried cauliflower and tender cubes of lamb in a warm garlic yogurt sauce, served with yellow rice and pita bread on the side. The best part of this dish was the yogurt sauce, which was perfectly creamy, savory, and tangy, and which went perfectly with the other components. Overall, the flavors of the food here were all on point and worth the price. The service, however, was slow and not particularly attentive.

Mogannam did a complete rebrand from an American burger restaurant to a fast-casual "Arabic comfort food" establishment that's named in honor of his mother and features her scratch-made recipes. To say it's a success is an understatement, as they've been named one of the best restaurants in SF not just by the Chronicle, but even made the NY Times' "The 25 Best Restaurants in San Francisco Right Now." After one visit, it's clear to see why. The Good: * Yelp Waitlist available * Bus stop right outside the door * Outdoor dog-friendly seating * Fast-casual order at the counter, and they bring the food out to you. * Service was friendly and efficient. * Palestinian and Jordanian beers in bottles! I didn't even know that was a thing. * Falafel were about 98.753% like my mom's. In a word: delicious. * Musakhan was phenomenal. The chicken was cooked perfectly with crispy skin and the sumac-onion "relish" was spot on. Get this. * Handmade pita bread was delicious. * Carissa enjoyed her Shish Tawook plate, as they were smart again and used chicken thighs which kept the well-seasoned meat nice and juicy. The concomitant hummus was fantastic, and the "Mom's Rice" was fuhgeddaboudit good. She did think the chicken could've used an extra thirty seconds on the grill to firm up the meat just a touch, but otherwise it was perfect. The Meh: * The Fattoush salad was just OK. It was overdressed and needed more dates that were cut into smaller pieces so that you get more of it in each bite to help offset the vinegar. The Ugly: * Parking here is a real hassle, as it's street parking only and it's all neighborhoods. So, be prepared to drive around endlessly looking for an opening. Conclusion: Best Palestinian food outside of me mum's kitchen.
