Whatcha gonna do when it's dinner time on a bank holiday in an empty swanky college town? We walked in and were not disappointed. The combination platter of chicken shawarma, 3 falafel, and chicken kabob pieces was as plentiful as it was delicious. Accompanied by 2 sides of a vinaigrette-y potato salad, carrots, and some hummus, there was barely room for some beets. Nothing was greasy and it all gladly disappeared. The lamb gyro was jam-packed with sliced meat and dressed with a wonderful mint sauce that packed a little heat. The addition of a beef gozleme was better in theory than it was in something with a distinctive taste. Overall, we had a terrific meal that left us too full to try a dessert in the form of 4 different types of baklava. A great choice if you don't need tableside service and just want to tuck into some great food after ordering it at the counter. read more

I've ordered food for takeout a number of times and have always enjoyed it. It's a great vegetarian option in an area without many. The food is ready quickly, usually about 20 minutes, and people are nice enough when I pick it up. I don't understand the negative reviews. Fresh, clean, local authentic! Probably the healthiest takeout in Ardmore and so flavorful. I ordered the beef kabob today - similar to the Iranian - koobideh and Turkish - kofta kabobs. Diff spices. Kabobs are grilled so not greasy. Crunch red cabbage salad with olive oil and a light salt and vinegar- cucumber tomato dill - freshly made and the hummus perfect texture. The green herb hot sauce is the bomb! Herbs with some chili. The bread looks like it comes delivered fresh from a bakery. Super soft and delicious. Catering family get together for Xmas- they are vegan so I ordered the falafel - which is the best I've had . The owner is super nice. Support local but the winner is eat healthier. Hummus Kitchen! I come here all the time and realized that I never left a review. First their lamb and grilled salmon is outstanding. Their hummus is the best I ever had. Their salads are fresh. They make everything in front of you. I get takeout and the food travels well. You can get a healthy leal here for $20. read more

I stopped by on my way home on a Saturday evening. I wasn't sure what I wanted so I played it safe and went to my go to staple, salmon - I ordered a grilled salmon platter with rice, hummus, Israeli salad and pickled purple cabbage and it came with a warm, wheat pita. I paid for my food and then waited - I was told that the food may take 20 to 25 mins but I'm sure it took less time :-) Overall I enjoyed my food; the salmon was cooked perfectly and the hummus had good flavor. read more

I'm torn between a 2 and a 3 today. I got the veggie platter with rice, cucumber, carrots, and pita. I also got fries for later. The carrots were extreeeeeeeemely over seasoned and the rest of the food had no seasoning at all. It was confusing. I really thought just some salt on each item could make it so much more flavorful. The pita was nice and fluffy and soft, so I enjoyed it. Overall I'd order from here again but definitely no carrots and definitely need some salt packets (which I never normally use). Edit: Moving this down to a 2, since I found out that they put ALL the salt in their fries. That's where it went. Almost inedible. read more

If I weren't comparing this to the former Hummus Grille which we love and still visit in University City, I'd probably think the food were slightly better, but... Food was good. We had the falafel sandwich which was much much too dry and all the good stuff was distributed to the bottom of the pita. They were out of tzatziki, too. We had a side of hummus which we generously applied to the sandwich for moisture. Good flavors though. We had a side of French fries which were good. Moist like I like them . Wish I had some tzatziki to dip them into though!! We also had a side of the cauliflower and carrots which I think were the best part of the meal. The carrots were delicious! $5.50 for the small portion (see photo) is expensive though! All in all, pretty good food. The wait though...as others have said, they don't have their timing down. Treated my oldest daughter to lunch here recently and she loved it! She is rather hard to impress, since she and her fiancé are always going out to all kinds of fancy restaurants, so I was tickled pink that she loved Hummus. Momma did good LOL! Oh, and my 8 month old grandson loved it too - he couldn't get enough hummus or chicken shwarma. The two ladies there smiled at him and didn't seem to have any problem with him being there. I ordered the chicken shwarma platter for lunch, with hummus, potato salad, and tabbouli. Unfortunately, the hummus, potato salad, and tabbouli were very watery (like they were made a day or two ago). The shwarma itself was fine, but the hummus was VERY heavy handed on the tahini. I had the choice between rice or fries with the platter, and my guess is that you can't win with either. The fries were not dropped in hot enough oil, resulting in a brown, bendy, unappetizing, tasteless potato. So disappointing. While the cashier was energetic and taking orders quickly, the line cook could not have cared less (or so it seemed to me). I watched him dump a whole batch of fries that looked to be in the same condition as those I was served, and just seemed so disinterested in putting out good food. Maybe more invested kitchen staff would improve the food quality here, but I'm not sure if it's just bad management/cost savings. Certainly not Mediterranean food that I would order again. Skip this and go to Yiro Yiro, or Zoe's Kitchen just down the road. read more

There isn't a ton of Israeli restaurants in the Philly area so this place breaks the monotony of pizza places, cheesesteak joints and take out Chinese. The food here is excellent but the price is a bit steep. After all though it is located on the Main line. It's hard to find a place with authentic Schwarma rotating on a horizontal spit but this place has it and it is succulent. The veggie sides are all fresh and full of flavor. Before coming to this restaurant, I don't even think I knew what falafel was. Now, this is one of my favorite spots in Ardmore! Their platters are very reasonably priced and you get a huge amount of food. I always get the falafel--absolutely delicious. It is served over a bed of seasoned rice. In addition, you get a very generous portion of homemade hummus, pita bread, and two vegetable sides. The service is always friendly and extremely quick! I love that you can sit outside on the patio and they will bring it directly to you. I have brought both my parents and my boyfriend here. Definitely not the best spot to go for for falafel, shawarma, baklava, and other Middle Eastern and Mediterranean goodies. But this location might just be one of the better for finding all of the above on the Main Line, and it is good that their just off fast food variations offer up an abundance of customization in regards to the fixings that you get in your sandwiches or platters. I've been fond of Hummus since I first tried it in West Philly a couple years back, although with the more locations that the franchise has taken on; I do feel that it has declined somewhat in quality and consistency. But it has rarely affected the sandwich orders that I've made after hitting the gym for a solid workout. Thus far the Falafel and Schnitzel sandwiches have been my go too. Hummus app - Very good, but the regular hummus was definitely plain for our taste, and would have been better with garlic. We definitely missed the garlic taste. It was still well-made, fresh, and good enough, but would have been loads better with garlic. Would def recommend getting at least 2 extra pitas. They do not give you much and then charge for more. Kind of disappointing, but the pitas are REALLY excellent pitas. So I'd say it's worth the money. Combo platter - Very good. Just note that the beef option is like a sausage casing beef, not a slice of beef, which was what we were expecting. It was still quite good, just a head's up since it wasn't described as a "sausage" per se. Fries - Very good real skin-on potato fries. Well seasoned, well done, and super tasty. No complaints! Greek Salad - Looked beautiful but was surprisingly lacking flavor. The veggies were nice and dark in color, which normally means good flavor, but they tasted like any old hydroponic, so unfortunately, I have to take a star off because of it. Friend & I went on a weekend afternoon, just after lunch rush. The place itself was very clean and bright, easy to read menus and such. Friend got the greek salad with chicken - chicken was yum! Salad was good but skimpy on the feta. She got a side order of hummus, great but not a lot of pitas to eat it with. I got the chicken kabob platter with cucumbers, beets, fries and hummus. Beets and cukes were disappointing, really just a spoonful of each, nothing special at all. Fries were good. Chicken kabob very disappointing - my friend's strips were more flavorful and seasoned, these were greasy hunks of meat with very little seasoning. I think they're overpriced and underseasoned and should do more with their veggies. Disappointing. read more

Hummus used to be a go-to for dine and take out offering simple healthy tasty Israeli/middle eastern food. Not only has the service become rude they can't get orders right and when they do the food doesn't even taste good anymore. Shawarma rarely available anymore and when it is tastes like it's been around for a few days all dried out. You can't just throw hummus on top of everything and expect good results. Coupled with a hostile attitude especially on phone orders it's time to pass on this once reliable spot. I gave this place 1 star for their rotten customer service. The young woman, with an accent, who works behind the counter really should not be working with the public. She has ZERO people skills. I have advice for the management; move rude-woman away from the counter and put your forks behind the counter, to be dispensed by your employees. Hummus is one of my favorite places. They have an outstanding value for the price. The food is pretty good and is fresh tasting. I would certainly recommend it. I have tried a few things on the menu and the shwarma is the only way to go. You can choose between white rice or fries and I like the israli salad and potato salad. read more

One of my new favorite places to eat. The platters are great and are really a good bang for your buck. The shawarma platter has been my favorite so far. Make sure to get the fries, they're fantastic. Contrary to other reviews, I thought the hummus was good. It wasn't the best hummus I've ever had, but I would definitely say it was good. The biggest problem with this place is inconsistency. After spending 5 years in israel, every once in awhile I get a craving. A few of the items here, like the falafel which was crispy on the outside and green and flavorful on the inside, hit the spot. The zhug was excellent, with just the right amount of kick. The hummus was unremarkable, the tabouleh was middle of the road, the baba ganoush was watery and bitter. The carrot salad and beet salad were drowned in vinegar instead of spiced properly. No self respecting Sephardic Israeli would be happy with the carrots, which seemed to have little to no cumin. Overall, a disappointing experience though I guess if you figure out what's good and stick to that it could be okay. If I ever go back I would just order falafel with a ton of zhug and tahina and call it a day read more
