Interesting ice cream flavors and an encouragement to try as many as you like! :) I definitely tried quite a few before I could decide on which ones I wanted, since they sounded so good. I ended up with their classic of secret breakfast, and one of their collabs with Fieldwork called blackberry parfait! They were both great. The secret breakfast was sweet and creamy, and the blackberry parfait was a bit tart and a little beer-y! I loved the flavor. I also liked their vietnamese coffee and tahitian vanilla from a previous visit. The coffee is not as sweet, and the vanilla is a classic ice cream flavor (can't go wrong!). The customer service is great, really friendly and chatty. They were sweet and let me pick 2 flavors for my single scoop size. Sick!! I have noticed though that sometimes the ice cream is a bit more grainy and icy (unpleasant), while other times it's much more creamy and smooth. This ice cream is pricey but worth it. Go try Elvis's fat years!! Omgeeeeeee I'm telling you it's the bomb! Almost indescribable..some kind of roasted banana (no chunks) with bacon brittle..drop the mic! I also love finding the perfect vanilla ice cream and they have one that is one of my top three! Oh and don't forget Secret Breakfast it's amazing just go try it. They literally serve you on silver spoons! You can taste every single flavor on a silver spoon...such a nice touch! Oh and grab a scoop loyalty card, get it stamped until you get a free one! The only thing I would suggest is, place more comfortable tables and chairs. There was only one table with 2 chairs. I know it's Winter but go grab a scoop then you will buy a pint! I have been to 2 of their locations (Emeryville lots of seating inside) I don't know how they do it but they have the nicest, most patient employees! This location is perfectly situated near Roam and Slice making it a perfect treat after both. They also feature a couple special flavors I haven't seen at other locations (hello, rosé all day) in addition to my regular faves of Vietnamese coffee and matcha doodle. Taking over the old ice cream place is this new ice cream place. Maybe not so new since Humphrey Slocombe is a chain. First things first. Be prepared to wait. Got here at 5:30pm and there was a line out the door! Higher prices than the other location at almost $6 a scoop. 3 stars because they didn't know their flavors and only gave one sample per person. My friend really wanted to buy the Secret Breakfast cake but the lady couldn't tell us what flavors other than secret breakfast were in it. Like she didn't know the flavor of the cake or whether or not there was another flavor on top. My friend ended up getting the Harlequin Cake which was chocolate malt and strawberry ice cream for almost $60. We both felt it was overpriced. read more

I have always wanted to try out this ice cream shop whenever I stop by Roam, but usually it's closed or there aren't flavors I am interested in. Today, they were open and they had Rose and Fennel. Sounded like it could work - I like florals, herbs, and unique combinations. The worker was nice and got my order quickly. The flavor was partially accurate: I could taste SWEET and fennel. The rose flavor was overwhelmed by the sugar and the fennel. I did not even know it was possible for ice-cream to be too sweet - I thought gelato was supposed to have a higher sugar content and I think gelato is fine sweet-wise. Let's end with the classic example of Diminishing Returns in high school economics: my diminishing return started at time = 0. Now that I think about it, I think this was one of my worst, if not the worst, ice cream experiences in my 30+ years on earth, beating out melted, warm, orange cream ice cream. I'm going to say, give this place a shot and try out the rose and fennel flavor so I can have someone to commiserate with. read more

Dropping off my kids friend at Bay Meadows and saw an open parking spot - decided to park and get the boys ice cream - there wasn't a line as it was a weekday at 3:30pm which was nice - specific flavors are unnecessary becasue any that we've tried have all been great, even the vanilla, which my son often gets. The scoops are a good size and the ice cream tastes fresh, no freezer flavor, so the turnaround on the ice cream must be pretty good - either they dump it or sell it all - at these prices it is a relief - not cheap but worth every penny for unusual flavors and good quality - almost makes us not miss Tin Pot that was here before. Came with a decently sized group when we came in, the worker hid in the back while we all waited in the lobby. When he came out he clearly had an attitude, did not greet us at all and gave us barely anything in our samples. When we decided not to tip because there was no exemplary service to tip, he turned around and said "Really? No tip? Not even a buck?" To which one of the people in my group replied by saying "No, because you have an attitude problem," in which the worker just went back to the back to hide. There were not many typical flavors to choose from that kids would be familiar with or like- basically just Tahitian Vanilla and Strawberry something, which the employee said "basically tastes like strawberry cheesecake." A group of us went this weekend with our kids/families. We were excited to try the ice cream! Sadly, I believe the employee - (says he's the store manager) working this shift was under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It was a very uncomfortable experience. My friend placed her order and I ended up not ordering anything, but the male employee insisted that I pick a scoop of ice cream. I honestly didn't want anything but he insisted.... When it came time to pay - we waited for the tip screen to pop up, but nothing. He then said, "wow I gave three scoops of ice cream for the price of one and no tip?!" I was taken back - because we were waiting for the tip screen and it never popped up... but also his comment about tipping was so bold. We tried explain but due to the erratic behavior we left. If your wondering what I mean by erratic - imagine a overly drunk person trying to put a sentence together trying hold their eyes open but also ranting random stuff. When we made it outside and put our babies in the strollers - he came out and again yelled from the door, "wow, I gave you free ice cream and no tip??" I tried to get some cash from my wallet and take it to him - but as I approached - he ran into the store, shut the door and began recording. It was clear he was on something at this point.
