Rice roll, salty (fantuang)- Weekends only

The outside may look questionable but go inside and get your fill for a weekend only - carbohydrate forward Taiwanese brunch. The fan Tuan (rice roll, salty version) is top knotch. The sheng gian bao (fried pork buns) was juicy but a bit too much outside dough. The soy milk (salty version) is on point. The stir fried tofu skin, pork & jalapeños was flavorful. This is the only place w Taiwanese brunch so it's nice to have the option. Wonder if they will consider offering stinking tofu at some point. Service is efficient and attentive. There was what appeared to be a pond/water fountain in the middle of the room - not sure if it actually works.

    Hot and sour soup

The hot and sour soup is amazing here Nice and spicy We often get the Mongolian beef and lately because we're going to lower carbs. We get the prawns and vegetables and either the basil eggplant or another eggplant dish, more mixed vegetables, or mu shu pork. When were splurging a little bit on the calories and fried stuff we will get the salt and pepper fish and last night. We had a little bit of fun trying the Peking spareribs! The people are very friendly and the service is great.

Hunan chef is a long standing neighborhood Chinese restaurant serving authentic delicious Hunan dishes. They recently were closed for a month due to repairs after a car hit and damaged the front entrance, but I am happy to say that they are now open again. Highly recommend their sesame pancake, their chow ma mein (seafood soup noodles), and their mushu. Very authentic and very tasty. FYI they are now using their side entrance instead of the original main entrance

Chinese Breakfast, you say? Sweet soy milk and fried Chinese donut? I am so there! I've been looking for a new Chinese breakfast spot ever since Chef Wu's in Newark closed down earlier this year. It was just my luck that I found it right by one of my friend's! I got seated right away and after looking at their menu, I decided on getting the sweet soy milk, the sesame with braised beef, a fried Chinese donut and a savory rice roll. Definitely a lot of food but I enjoyed every bite and had leftovers to take home. The soy milk has sugar added on the bottom so make sure to give it a good stir before drinking. Or, if you don't want it to be too sweet, don't stir too much and don't drink the very bottom. The fried Chinese donut was on point; crispy golden fried and light. I enjoyed dipping this into my soy milk. The sesame pancake with braised beef as also very good. Some times they don't put enough sauce but this one was well don't. The sauce did drip out a bit but I didn't mind. The savory rice roll was also on point. Pieces of the fried Chinese donut and preserved vegetables helped to balance the ingredients. Plentiful parking, a good amount of tables, clean bathroom and attentive service. Definitely my new go to place on the weekends! I'll gladly drive the 40ish minutes to get there!

Salty rice roll and you tiao

Amazing spot - really enjoyed the weekend brunch. There's a huge menu of Chinese classics, and I love all the specialty items. Salty rice roll (饭团)- excellent, not too salty, perfect crunchy you tiao bits and picked veg with pork floss. Pumpkin cake - don't see this too often at restaurants, it seems deep fried, which gives it a nice crispy crust and soft chewy mochi wrapping. Red bean paste filling is not too sweet. Seafood tofu claypot - excellent flavor and tofu texture. Great portion and lots of tender seafood. Can't wait to come back to try more!!

    * decent taste wt generous amount of food, considered from price wt other Chinese restaurants around the area * friendly and quick services * good vibe for gathering wt fam and friends I would definitely go back to try other dishes!

    Three mushrooms
    Sonia H.

I came here for the savory rice roll which is only served on weekend brunch menu. Its a lot similar like the one I had growing up in Taiwan! My favorite dish is bean curd with pork. I can eat the whole bowl of rice just with this dish alone. This time I tried three mushrooms which is surprisingly good. Nothing compared to the flavor a Chinese wok created. I can't create this aroma at home. I guess I'll have to come here more often!

It has Chinese paintings , beautiful vase , Chinese calligraphy with style , ceramic and brass figures of Mongolian horses, etc . I love their Kung bao chicken and Szechuan beef . The flavors are bold and spicy . However , I can only handle mild spicy and not extremely spicy . My favorite dishes was fish filet in ginger sauce with vegetables . The clear sauce with the seafood is so tasty . We got free appetizers ( vegetable egg roll and fried wonton in sweet and sour sauce ) . Inside the dish were also cooked bok choy, carrot , mushrooms , slices of water chestnut, green onion in a ginger flavor gravy . It tasted great with either rice or or brown rice . Service was great . Lady waiter came by often to check on us and added more ice water . The restaurant is clean and the lady deep cleaned the table after the customers left . Restroom is also clean with pleasant air freshener. I appreciate the ambiance very much . It is classic and elegant. It s a great place to meet up with friends and have a chat. At CA Noodle, you get what you ask for - you can see the rich, red chili flakes and oil floating in the broth which adds a nice kick and great flavor to the freshly made noodles. I just wish there were more chunks of beef that were included - the dish is very carb heavy. We also shared a plate of the pig ear appetizer which is soaked in a rich chili oil. If you like more of the chewy/cartilaginous type of texture, which I do, this dish is absolutely amazing. Overall, would recommend this spot if you're looking for a comfort meal.

Seeing CA Noodle show up on our yelp search and it was nearby, we decided to check it out. The location is pretty convenient, located in a plaza that shares parking spaces with several other restaurants and a McDonald's. The inside only seats about 10-14 parties of 2-4, so a pretty small restaurant. They had 2 waiters staffing the entire restaurant, but the menu and ordering system is all done through a POS via QR code. The menu was quite large, offering no many choices like pot stickers, noodle soups, chow mein, and little appetizers like pig ears. We ended up ordering the pig ears, pot stickers, pork pan fried bun, and 2 noodle soups. The good: pig ears. The pig ears were cut in various sizes and the flavor was spicy. Definitely to our liking! The neutral: the pork hamburger item and pot stickers. While the bun was tasty and crispy, the mean in between was a bit dry and the taste was a bit mild and less salty. We made it better by adding pig ears with every bite lol. The pot stickers were fine but it didn't really give a crispy bottom taste and more of dry pan sear. It definitely needed sauce as the filling was a bit mild too (very consistent mild tastings after the pig ears. The bad: the soup dishes that we ordered were definitely needing a flavor bomb. While the noodles we ordered were great and had a ton of chew and the protein in the dish was plenty; the soup lacked in taste. My girlfriend had to ask for additional salt to add to taste and it made it so much better. I ate mine as intended and I wasn't as satisfied as compared to if I were to eat at ox9 or muragame. Overall, I thought our meal was about a 3.5. While we enjoyed watching the World Cup while eating our food, the taste of our food was much more desired and it didn't scratch our itch for a rich soup. Unfortunately, many of the other patrons seemed to catch on and order the chow mein instead. If we come back, it's probably what we would order next. Until next time!

I'm sure she makes everyone feel that way. She communicates with the chef and they got our order perfect (no onions). The zha jiang noodles were our favorite. The texture of the noodles was bouncy and perfectly cooked and the veggies were fresh and neatly sliced. This dish has impressive qualities and the flavors were well balanced. The hot chili wontons had a nice kick to them and not too spicy. The potstickers are a good vegetarian option and the tofu, mushroom and basil worked well together and that butterfly made out of carrots was gorgeous. I hear the chef makes them by hand. Thank you to the server for helping us with our order and being so kind. Our dinner was superb. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. We will definitely be back next time we're in town.

I picked it for a family lunch after going to the Livermore outlets. The decor and ambience is typical but relatively nice. We ordered a bunch of Shanghainese classics: Soy milk 4/5 - if you order multiple servings it comes in a large bowl meant for sharing. Can order cold or hot with sugar on the side. Xiao long bao 4.5/5 - I'm pretty picky about xlb and I am partial to the Shanghainese style (vs Taiwanese style you get at DTF and other places) and this was surprisingly good. Before this, my fav in the bay area was I-Shanghai Delight and honestly I think this might rival it. Filling and soup were both savory and light and incredibly umami. Maybe the wrapper at I-Shanghai is a bit thinner but honestly not a huge difference to me. Would def recommend if you like this style. Braised minced eel 5/5 - OMG this was the highlight of the meal for me, and I think only ppl who like this eel dish would understand. I honestly have not found good Shanghainese stir fried eel anywhere else in the Bay area. Chef Zhao's version was good once upon a time but then the most recent time we went, it tasted weird and not fresh. I-Shanghai Delight's was also no good (not fresh). This is the one dish that I will keep coming back here for. Razor clams with ginger and scallion 5/5 - This was also a crowd fav. I don't love clams usually but these were big and meaty and tender, and the sauce is what you would expect. Highly recommend Stewed yellow croaker soup with pickles 3/5 - This was ok and could've been better. Flavor of the soup was good but I think the fish tasted a bit overcooked/dry and could've been more tender. Shredded pork with wild rice shoot 4/5 - This was fine and a very traditional Chinese dish. Nicely done but nothing amazing. Red bean pancake 4/5 - This was a good dish, just not what I expected. I like the red bean pancakes where the pancake part is more doughy while this was like VERY crispy. But the flavor was good Lastly, the lady who took care of our table was SO nice and so chatty and so patient, despite the usual chaos and indecision of large family gatherings. She also packed up all the food for us and even gave suggestions for surrounding Chinese supermarkets. All in all, it was a really pleasant experience with good food and I will def be going back for more

Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup.
