It's been a while for me since I had yellowtail jalapeño last, so we started with that along with Sapporo drafts ($6). We then decided to order Sushi & Sashimi for 2. First I thought it was a tad pricey ($58), not knowing how much food we're getting. Sushi & Sashimi for 2 comes with either soup or salad to start, plus 20 pieces of chef's special sashimi, 10 pieces of chef's special sushi, 1 dragon roll, 1 volcano roll. Fish was really fresh. Met my friend for lunch today at Anazai . The restaraunt is pretty and felt cozy on a rainy day. We were greeted by our lovely server who allowed us plenty of time to chat before we placed our orders . The green tea kept coming , it was flavorful and warmed us up . We shared steamed vegetable dumplings . perfectly filled with small bites of vegetables we dipped into a mildly sweet sauce . The dumplings themselves were silky with the perfect bite . Salad was crispy and dressed well . I chose 3 rolls... Tuna with avacado and cucumber , crunchy salmon and shrimp tempura . Creamy , crunchy , tender, tasty and beautifully prepared and presented ! Decided to try Anzai, right in the neighborhood on a Friday night. I had this really delicious soup (hot and sour) and the freshest/tastiest kani salad. I also shared a Naruto roll with friends. I tried their Saketini which had crispy shreds of cucumber. The service was great and the waitress gave us time to decide-also made recommendations. Eight years later, much better. First, the green tea was delicious and was refilled without asking. Second, my entree was very good: shrimp with vegetables in mild garlic sauce (choice of white or brown rice). I didn't want to have to wonder what vegetables, so asked them for broccoli, green beans and mushrooms. They readily accomodated my request and lots of shrimp so I was too full to consider dessert. My wife enjoyed the seafood soup, and my son, who likes sushi, comes here with his friends more frequently. Met my aunt here for an early-ish dinner on a Friday. I had never been, but she has and recommended that I met here. I arrived first. She told me to request a table in the back. When I asked the hostess/waitress for a table in the back, she told me it wasn't open yet, and will open at 4:30. At the time of my request, it was about 4:25. It had so much carbonation...not very beer-like. We told the waitress right away. She apologized and I ordered a different beer, which came out correctly. We decided to share a whole bunch of food for our dinner. To start we shared shrimp shumai, and sushi pizza. Shrimp shumai was basic. About the same as I've gotten in every sushi establishment. The sushi pizza was out-of-this-world delicious! There were three different kinds of sushi pizza you can chose from. We went with spicy tuna and mango. It was so flavorful! It consisted of a crispy rice crust, topped with seaweed salad, spicy tuna and mango. A delicious marriage of food. For an entree we shared shrimp soba noodles. The portion is sized enough for two people to share, especially if getting other things off the menu. The flavors were good, and it didn't have a lot of sauce, but just enough. Now onto sushi! We got an eel avocado roll, spicy yellowtail, and salmon lovers roll. All the rolls were fresh and tasty. By this time I thought I was done. But my aunt suggested dessert! We chose a bomba. I've never heard of this before. It had chocolate and vanilla ice cream surrounded by a thick chocolate shell, with a cherry in the middle. It was good, a little sweet for me, but still good. I learned recently that Anzai means "pacify the West." Anzai, the restaurant in East Meadow, does exactly the opposite. The restaurant stays true to its eastern roots. The food was authentic and delicious. My fellow Yelper (and real-life bestie) and I ordered the pork gyozas and edamame as starters. The gyozas were perfect. Soft on top and slightly crispy on the bottom. The edamame was soft and salty. For dinner, we had the chicken teriyaki and the October roll, one of Anzai's speciality rolls. I loved my chicken teriyaki. It was on top of some vegetables with that thick, sweet teriyaki sauce drizzled all over. I had brown rice on the side. I also had a choice of soup or salad so I took the salad because I love the ginger dressing they put on top. I forget what was in the October roll. Salmon and avocado and a bunch of other stuff. We were due for a date night and opted for Anzai to double with our friends. Not crowded on a Saturday at 7. Drinks were delicious! We opted for the scorpion which most definitely had alcohol in it. I went to this restaurant with a friend for Lunch on June 17, '23. There are many things that I suggest they take care of: 1) The chairs in the front were horribly worn out. The plastic or leather was all cracking and pealing. Any chairs would be better than those. 2) They had youngsters who barely spoke English to great us and take our order. The girl was wearing a casual outfit that looked like pajamas. 3) The blinds were all dusty. 4) I was not happy with the food: vegetables with soba noodles. There were very few pieces of vegetables!! Honestly doesn't look like much from the outside buttttt if you're looking for some bomb sushi and other asian dishes, this is your spot! The lunch combo 2 rolls is my usual go to. I get Alabama roll and spicy tuna crunch roll, & miso soup. When I splurge I get brown rice (cost extra like $0.50?) and spicy mayo ($1.00?) .. clearly when I splurge I'm not keeping track of costs. LOL. When I dine for dinner I usually get the edamame and gyoza as appetizer. But if I'm really hungry I'll order the beef negimake as my appetizer. It's basically beef wrapped in asparagus and delicious sauce. The udon with clear soup is soooo yummy. Beware they don't call it "Big Bowl Noodle Soup" for nothing. I genuinely couldn't finish the bowl... but maybe it's because I was too busy stuffing my face with the appetizers. My favorite special rolls are: Spicy Three In One, Spicy Lover Roll and Thursday Roll. But trust me there's a lot of options, you'll be sure to find your favorite! I really enjoyed my meal here. Anzai is located in a strip mall, but inside the decor is lovely. I ordered the dinner special that included salad with ginger dressing, and 3 sushi rolls. The salad was larger than average and had slices of mango and other vegetables, making it also more unique than a standard house salad. The rolls: tuna, salmon, and california; were fresh, tasty and large. The service was also great; the server checked on me to make sure everything was good. Recently decided to give them a try again with an order through postmates and I was pleasantly surprised. It was my second time getting take out from here. tTe noodles were over done and soggy, and the seasoning was nonexistent. We ordered from grub hub and it was delivered in a timely manner. We ordered the Kani salad, sashimi special, three rolls and the vegetable udon with Tom yum soup base. The Kani salad was not the best tasted as if it had been prepared and left in the fridge for days. The tuna was extremely fishy, the rolls were ok. Definitely recommend this place for its lunch roll specials. I got three rolls (Boston, shrimp mango, and spicy calamari) and wonton soup for $13. Anzai is an Asian fusion restaurant that has a full sushi bar inside of it. It's located in East Meadow in the same shopping center as East meadow Bowl and Margaritas Cafe. Their menu is pretty lengthy and I decided to come here this past Father's Day and give it a try due to the great reviews on Yelp. We got a few appetizers and sushi rolls to start out. I was not a fan of the Lobster roll -- it was really small compared to others I've had and carried a really fishy taste... nothing special at all. The spicy rock shrimp were okay but a lot of breading. The california roll is hard to go wrong with so I enjoyed that. The Thai spring rolls were really good and I liked the chili sauce it came with. We decided to go with Sangrias as opposed to cocktails. I went with the green apple sangria which really tasted like an apple martini and my bf got the Pomegranate sangria which was ok. For entrees the kids both decided on the chicken fried rice. That was a good portion and it came with a drink. My bf decided on the General Tso's chicken and that had a really good taste and I loved how it was all white meat however it was supposed to be spicy and it was lacking spice. I went with my all time fav Chicken Pad Thai. At first it was too oily -- I found myself blotting my mouth so I felt compelled to complain. The waitress said that next time I have to ask for "light oil".. umm I'm sorry -- but never in life have I ever ordered pad thai and the grease was sitting on the plate and I eat it allll the time. But I will forgive them because she took it back and they remade it and it came out so delicious just how I like it and I devoured it all. All in all, Anzai is a good restaurant to come to if you're into Asian fusion.I enjoy Wild Ginger in RVC and I feel like this can be one of my alternatives now when I'm in the mood.
